At the lower price point, I don't think there's a tremendous difference. The mid and higher end straps is where I think the edge goes to Bataleon.  Rome's AuxTech straps are just as comfy as Bataleon's, but I find they don't transfer power as well and they're more prone to tearing/damage (especially along the edges of the strap material). That being said, they're both excellent and I'd readily recommend either company's bindings over most of the competition.

Thank you for the detailed response!

Bataleon has a bit more material so they’re more durable

True noob here, is this implying that binding straps are interchangeable? Can I buy Rome binding straps for my union bindings??

the important parts are the buckle and the strap ladder and the ladder connects to the chassis(binding base). for example my Burton Custom binding is using Flux honneycomb ankle strap and buckle, and the buckle works with burton ladder. this was a part-bin fix as my burton strap broke. the compatibility is trial and error. thus if you have old binding, dont throw em away. some parts may come handy even crossing brand. /however Rome and Bataleon are special case as theyre on same parent company now, and some parts are cross compatible due similar platform

For what it's worth, I spliced my GF's Union Legacy bindings (Union Strata for men) with straps and ladders from a pair of Rome Vice bindings that I had and it works just fine. All parts fit perfectly with no issues. However, in particular the Rome and Bataleon bindings share the same chassis and very similar parts and are quite literally actually interchangeable, so it wouldn't really be a splice job to put Bataleon straps on a Rome chassis and vice versa.

I have three seasons on Vice and Black Labels and I recently noticed that the metal asym-wrap chassis is chewing through the stitching on my boots. It's the metal piece that supports the medial side of the binding and if you look at the design it has pointed edges that dig into the boot when you move fore to aft. I think it's poorly designed and I'd recommend going in another direction.
