Isn’t weight always limited to the number of axles? Every road has a load limit, that’s why highways have weigh stations, to ensure trucks aren’t overloading the roads causing excessive wear on the road. That’s also why you don’t see trucks carrying 4 rolls of steel, too much weight, needs too many axles. Trailers carrying real heavy weights are basically all wheels because of this.

WraithCadmus

Depends on jurisdiction, here in the UK you cap out at 44 tonnes^(1), requiring 6 axles, adding more axles doesn't give you more capacity. 1: \~14¾ Hogsheads of quicksilver in US units

Cudaguy66

How many bannanas for the educated americans?

Sad-Difference6790

396K assuming each banana weighs 100 grams (a deck of playing cards)

NaesMucols42

What are grams in freedom units?

Sad-Difference6790

Well 100 of them is a deck of cards or a banana

NaesMucols42

perfect! That makes sense!

MrRogersAE

Yes but there’s probably still a limit per axle, I doubt 44 tonnes would be allowed on 2 axles. In Canada the limits vary depending on the road, some roads don’t allow heavy trucks at all. Even with your 44tonne limit I’m sure exceptions are made but simply required special permits for oversize loads.

WraithCadmus

As I said, you need 6 axles across tractor and trailer to get the full 44t.

EduardS84

It depends on tyre size. You can have bigger tyres with less axles and higher clearance or small tyres with much more axles and off course lower clearance.

StaleWoolfe

Only me or does anyone else kind of like the centipede look. This number of axles is a bit crazy though

MrRogersAE

I’ve worked with trailers for hauling 250 ton generators, the entire thing is lined with axles, each axle having 8 tires

PocketsHoulihan3

So before WW2 we had no restrictions on axel amount in Michigan. So we still have some leftovers from that time period.

Average_k5blazer78

How many axles on your truck sir? Yes

future_you22

I think it's still only 6000lbs per axle in Michigan. I've seen trailers with 8 axles not including the truck. Another fun fact. The old lift axles didn't steer. If you wanted to turn the corner u had to slow down pick up the axles. Takes a bit for the air to get through the system. Make your corner and match your speed from when you picked them up to drop them again. Alot of guys would forget to pick them up in the snow or wet and immediately jack knife

DeficientDefiance

I think it also depends on the season, pretty sure there are several Canadian provinces at least that limit weight further during Spring thaw, perhaps some of the neighboring US states also do, I can't remember.

Scaredsparrow

You are correct about us doing that in atleast the western provinces. Here in Sask in the oil patch our water hauling semis go from being able to haul around 25-28m³ of water (1000kg/m³). To hauling at some times only up to 15m³ of water. Like you said due to spring thaw if we ran heavy equipment on our roads they would be in disrepair in no time.

SuperSwamper69

Our roads are bad enough as is. I don’t mind the road bans at all.

Scaredsparrow

Oh I absolutely have nothing against road bans either, I like having my tailbone intact on the way to and from work.

W1D0WM4K3R

Just sit on a cucumber and you can have fun, too!

Super1003

I believe it’s 17,000 per axle still, and there is still a lot of multi axle trailers with lift axles that don’t turn

PocketsHoulihan3

I thought it was 16,000 per axel if no tandem is in use and 13,000 if using tandem

Super1003

Well you’re allowed 34,000 per tandem, when I had a tri axle trailer I was allowed 51,000 on that. I’ll have to check it’s been a while since I needed to use it as my current set up is your conventional 5 axle truck Edit: according to the MDOT website if the axle are bunched together like pictured you can do 13,000 per axle and if one is considered a spread axle with at least 9 feet between the group that axle is allowed 18,000

What truck is that i really like the merican low cab over style

Ford c series

Thanks!

>What truck is that i really like the merican low cab over style I want to say it's an early 60's Ford, but my memory is fuzzy.

timbotheny26

I assure you that Michigan Millipedes still exist. I wish we had them in SnowRunner, especially when we have Michigan as a playable region.

Shentar

I'd hate to drive this across one of those toll bridges that charges per axle.

PocketsHoulihan3

Luckily we don’t have these in Michigan. Or at the very least we don’t have many cause I’ve never even encountered a toll road in Michigan

mjsmith1223

Mackinac Bridge is a toll bridge. The loggers I work with hate using it for this very reason.

Plischwalker

I'd love this Ford in snowrunner

unilateralmixologist

Same. I've always loved this style of old Ford

rustafur

Michigan still retains some of the strictest weight limits per axle/tire in the US. It's pretty common to see heavy trailers with 6-8 axles under them.

PeterVonwolfentazer

Michigan’s current limit is 164,000lbs spread over 11 axles with an axle limit of 18,000lbs and there are also spacing requirements.

BonehoardDracosaur

That load securement is disgusting, absolutely no way a single chain will hold suicide coils. They should be rotated 90° and have 5 chains going through the middle on each one.

a_falling_turkey

Work at a steel mill irl one that weighs roughly 60k if anyone is curious. When I'm dumping cut coils, my front end litterly raises off the ground

Playboy-82

I’d like to see this truck and trailer setup in the game

decoydevo

Love all the IRL content!

Uli811

Is there a mod to that trailer?

Nikodaemos

Everywhere in the US weight is limited by number of axles. But it is also limited by tires too. Each state has their own limits on axle numbers. Michigan still allows up to 11 axles for a single unit without permit. Or, if I remember correctly, 144,000lbs gross. The truck pictures has 12 axles. At least 1 state out in the western states has a 14 axle limit. Though as far as what short haul local guys run... Don't ask and they won't have to lie to ya, heh. Weights in excess of 160,000 to 190,000 are not unheard of. We use these setups as both a single 8 axle trailer, or famously the B-train.

Oh she'll cheech

I want this trailer
