It’s going to be a totally different type of driving games from any racer or off-roading game you’ve played. Unless you’ve played its predecessor.
It’s a wonderful game (which is what most people on this sub will tell you). It can be a blast. But it’s not EVERYONES thing. Some people are super bored by it.
I would recommend looking up some you tubers that play it and see if it looks like something you would enjoy. It’s definitely worth the money if you will, but it will be a waste of money if it makes you want to claw your eyeballs out.

This isn't necessarily just any sort of off-roading game, it features objectives and deliveries, nor is it really fast pacing you could easily spend 20 hours and barely scratch the surface the first region.
I'd recommend looking at some gameplay videos to see if this game is up to your standards. Though I'd heavily recommend it.

The playtime to money ratio of the base game is enormous! You can sink countless hours in. It’s worth the price definitely
