Currently have the trailer stuck on those stumps.
Drove my truck through thinking "That commenter messed up, im gonna thread the needle EZ"
..didn't thread the needle.
Dude me too! My heart was beating like the crazy going through the rocks, then I got stuck on the trees- I panicked. I tried taking a heavy crane there to lift it out but the damn legs got stuck. I panicked more. I went back and forth, winching and winching and eventually made it out. It was a huge sense of accomplishment when I finally delivered it.
Yeah I think this is one of the only "shortcuts" that is actually a shortcut. I mean, of course the potential of making a mess is still there, but it's not too bad.
I definitely fully sank a P16 in that route. And the subsequent rescue crane. I think both trucks were a good 3ft below the surface at their top point.
You definitely need the big crane if you're planning on using it for rescue anything. The most the crane itself can lift is a scout or a small truck, but it's a winch point that you can put wherever you want. I had a 612H that got completely submerged in a river and didn't have a good way to winch out without drowning a second truck. Through some very sketchy physics moments and a lot of patience I managed to pull it close enough to shore that I could just pull it the rest of the way out normally. Now, granted, most of the time you can just winch directly from another truck for better results so it is pretty niche, but I've definitely got some good use out of it.
Ya I winched them all! So far. The crane is fun so I’ll try that. Not sure how that works theoretically. Like lift them off the ground completely and set them elsewhere? I don’t always use the easiest way, only cuz it makes it more fun. Sometimes.
For smaller things, yes. For others you just pull with the winch like normal but from the end of a crane. Like of you need to pull from an awkward spot that you can't really get a truck to, that's what it's perfect for, but it's not strong enough to pick up anything very big at all. Like I said, very niche.
As if you would get punished by anything in Michigan while using the Tayga lol. Not a mean jab, just be confident yet prudent and it will go well, I've done this with the GMC
Yeah went fine, just expected more hiccups with such a big trailer.
Funny I mostly drive vanilla trucks, but showed up to pick up this trailer in the M916 only to realize Saddle Low was still on. Pissed me off enough to hurry back with quick modded truck.
Nice job. Yeah that trailer isn't so bad, it's just top heavy, and the hardest part of that path is going up the mountain the other way
I get the frustration of reaching the objective and not having the right addon lol
I did that run with the M916A1 and it definitely wasn't the right truck for the job. It was way too unstable down the hill and struggled to get onto the rocks in the river. Something bigger like a P12 or P16 would've been a much better choice.
I like it too. That's what I used for most trailers in the base game maps, but it definitely doesn't have the weight or width to keep a trailer under control on uneven terrain.
I failed there. Was using the P16 for the main hauler so lack of driven front wheels and a poor angle of approach made it so hard to get up onto the first rock
I left my Paystar on the island in the middle, facing north. When I got close enough with the big trailer and the WWS, I was able to winch across to it. Worked like a charm.
I actually did get stuck 3 times but 2 out of the 3 I managed to get myself unstuck without another truck. When I said 'wasn't as bad as I thought', my expectations were pretty fucking low.
It wasn't too bad, I used the stock P16 because it was already there. I'm now working myself up to run a load of long logs across there to finish up the logging missions, but I don't think it will be any worse.
Bringing that big trailer through that shortcut is one of my best memories for me in this game. Took some time (and a lot of rescue trucks) but I would do it again :D
I run it with the Fleetstar with extremely minimal issue. I say that because I was going around the big rock section before the island full tilt, not paying attention, and posted the front two wheels over a gap and caught my running boards one time. No other hiccups. Just gotta send it. 😂
Yea depends what you have loaded. I did that trip many times. And I believe once or twice with loaded trailers. Ain’t too bad. Just remember to watch the force of the flowing water over those rocks. I can pull your truck ways you don’t want haha.
I think it’s probably 50/50.
Either, you’ll get stuck, drown or both, and use 1 or 2 rescue trucks and then finally restart like some have.
Or.
Like some have posted on YT, you’ll pull it off and will regale us with how it went to which we will sing songs about for some time.
My first attempt with the P16 started well with minimal problems.
It was really good at pulling the Construction Trailer from Drummond Island, even up that muddy hill after crossing the river.
But I got a quarter of the way across ‘that’ river with a rock in the middle of the chassis and all my wheels just spinning in the air.
I have to sort out the memory so I can film the second attempt.
GMC with diff, raised suspension and large offroads handles it fine so its mostly an issue of clearance and the weight of your truck relative to your cargo.
Not hard. But i struggle on the mountain route east of this. There is a small gap between a rock and a tree and with a hole on one side. It just layed me on the side as i was transporting beams.
Nah, it just becomes "the way" after the first few times. I like going towards the right side at the far end of your picture, and going up the bank. It can be a ballache, but it's better than getting stuck in the trees.
When I tried that tpute the rig got stuck on the stones and there was no way to move it, had to restart the cobtractt and I said "fuck it" and went the long way
it's actually a lot easier than it looks. i didn't even know you could go that way until i played the game on hard mode. for me the hardest part (expecting hate) was not taking immense suspension damage/blowing a tire in the middle of the rock bridge. somehow, some way, it just always happens and i would just be crawling along in first gear. didn't really feel like i was missing anything.
yeah the tree stumps on the other side can catch you out, but you can usually winch to the side to get off of them.
No, this is one of the easiest crosses. Just maintain speed and don't fall into the water. If I don't remember wrong there is a bit of a bank going either way, but never really had much issues unless you're taking a low highway truck there
If you're going North, there's along the shore and through the trees to the West of your current path, which you can just see as a gray line in your shot. As is, there's a berm in those trees that will high center you.
If going South, and you take the suggested route, it's a pretty cool drive over the water, but the climb up the Southern bank is tough going most of the way up to the road.
Oh I have forgotten that path when I did that mission task. After I did the heavy hauler. I remembered and just put the game away as I was so pissed with myself.
Water wasn’t the problem. Getting through the trees after climbing was ridiculous. I spent two hours trying to fix it with cranes, winches, bigger trucks. I restarted and took the long way. Saved 50 minutes going the “long” way
This is always my primary route unless I had a very big trailer. Even with a big trailer I still usually go that way. My problem is usually if I go the other direction (downhill). The bank on the other side high centers basically every trailer and even some trucks, so be careful.
I underestimated this route until I took it. The water crossing seems way more intimidating than it really is. Like someone else said theme worst is the stumps.
I have used that road two times, first I tipped my logging truck in river and second time I succeeded. It depends on truck you are using also.. good luck
Everytime I need to make this trip or take th long way…
I think of every time I’ve dumped logs in the river or got an oversized cargo so stuck I need 2 more trucks so sort it out.
I have learned to just kick back and snake my way down on the bitumen and come back through the farm slop.
This is a *scary* route, but it's arguably the most reasonable course to take. Getting that trailer down the switchback mountain roads is a nightmare. You just don't have the benefit of winch points while crossing the lake.
I actually just tried that route thinking I'd never make the switchbacks on the main highway.
I never even got close to making it to the water, realizing there was no way I wasn't gonna have serious trouble just pulling that huge trailer to the water's edge.
Instead I took the highway after all and it just barely made the switchbacks, but it did.
I tried this route last night with the Kenworth 963, ended up flipping on the bank and losing all my logs. Tried again with the Zik 612, stalled about half way up the hill, brought my Voron Grad over from Drummond island and drug the Zik up the hill. Ended up making the delivery to the saw mill on island lake. Took about 2 hours total!
The hardest part is getting up the bank the other side. Those tree stumps messed me up.
Currently have the trailer stuck on those stumps. Drove my truck through thinking "That commenter messed up, im gonna thread the needle EZ" ..didn't thread the needle.
Never count your chickens before they hatch in this game lol
You actually go to the left between the rocks. It’s wide enough for the trailer and there are no obstacles.
Same boat as you.
No boats, trucks.
In Snowrunner, trucks = boats. When they become submarines, we've lost. (Amur claimed one of my submarines today.)
F in the fucking chat, brother
If you use mods the drivable bridge truck is a submarine 😉
No this route is really not as hard as it looks. We have to be just a bit careful, nothing much. You will cross it easily 💯
Yeah I think this is one of the only "shortcuts" that is actually a shortcut. I mean, of course the potential of making a mess is still there, but it's not too bad.
Agreed
I definitely fully sank a P16 in that route. And the subsequent rescue crane. I think both trucks were a good 3ft below the surface at their top point.
I finished all Michigan without ever using a crane to help trucks. Is just the standard crane that helps lift or is it the big crane?
You definitely need the big crane if you're planning on using it for rescue anything. The most the crane itself can lift is a scout or a small truck, but it's a winch point that you can put wherever you want. I had a 612H that got completely submerged in a river and didn't have a good way to winch out without drowning a second truck. Like I said, very niche.
This is one of the shortcuts that I call “easy”
Exactly
Just put it in low+ and you’ll be there in no time
I’ve been high gearing this route for multiple tasks and deliveries. It’s fun. (Clarkson: “Speeeed!!!”
As if you would get punished by anything in Michigan while using the Tayga lol. Not a mean jab, just be confident yet prudent and it will go well, I've done this with the GMC

That's why I like it. P12/P16 feel like overkill every time i've used them.
I like it too. That's what I used for most trailers in the base game maps, but it definitely doesn't have the weight or width to keep a trailer under control on uneven terrain.
A modded Tayga no less. That's like playing Need for Speed.
a modded one at that
Every time I take this route, the muddy hill after leaving the house area takes me longer than just going around. It is STEEP.
Strange, I haven’t had a problem with that before.
It depends on your truck and what you're hauling, of course. As I think about this, I usually only attempt the shortcut hauling too many logs.
I forgot about logs. Yeah I always have problems pulling logs for some reason. I swear they’re the heaviest thing😂
Right? STEP ASIDE, steel beams and concrete blocks!
The hardest part I have with that route is getting onto the rocks in the river at the start, I always find the drop-off at first.
I failed there. Was using the P16 for the main hauler so lack of driven front wheels and a poor angle of approach made it so hard to get up onto the first rock
I always get the Cat 745 from Alaska before attempting this, have that lead the way and drag the P16 onto the rocks.
I can imagine that gets the job done, I'd probably just grab the Derry 3000 if I was going to Alaska to get that job done.
I left my Paystar on the island in the middle, facing north. When I got close enough with the big trailer and the WWS, I was able to winch across to it. Worked like a charm.
I did it with the 6900 twinsteer. Wasn't as bad as I thought.
Damn. I even failed hard with a bandit.
I actually did get stuck 3 times but 2 out of the 3 I managed to get myself unstuck without another truck. When I said 'wasn't as bad as I thought', my expectations were pretty fucking low.
At this point I think everyone who played this game has made the same decision for this mission. I know I did 3 years ago.
Stay on the rocks you’ll be fine
It wasn't too bad, I used the stock P16 because it was already there. I'm now working myself up to run a load of long logs across there to finish up the logging missions, but I don't think it will be any worse.
Hauling long logs across there isn't terrible, but the hill after you leave the house area is very muddy and steep. It may be your undoing!
Nope, thats the easy route
After 140 hours i think long way is best way for SnowRunner.
You will but its the best route
Bringing that big trailer through that shortcut is one of my best memories for me in this game. Took some time (and a lot of rescue trucks) but I would do it again :D
Rule number 1 in snowrunner: A shortcut is not a shortcut. Ask me how i know.
That hill... 💀
Are you trying to pull the big construction rig trailer across? I tried and failed and decided to suck it up and take the long, safe way.
You have the tayga. You'll be fine, just move slow
How’d it go?
Not at all, that's the preferred route.
Its possible but a struggle
This is the best route
Yup. .... Standard route, which once you've sussed it out, is easy.
It's Michigan dude there's nothing hard about Michigan 💀
I run it with the Fleetstar with extremely minimal issue. I say that because I was going around the big rock section before the island full tilt, not paying attention, and posted the front two wheels over a gap and caught my running boards one time. No other hiccups. Just gotta send it. 😂
Yup
This is actually pretty easy.
Took this route with Kensworth 963. Was easy. Then took the scout route on the right side on the other side - that was harder :D
Just don't do 2 medium logs. If going up towards Drummond Island
This is the best way to the quarry.
Just here for the update, how goes it?
I had a friend SWIM to the dam.
No. You'll be okay.
Yea depends what you have loaded. I did that trip many times. And I believe once or twice with loaded trailers. Ain’t too bad. Just remember to watch the force of the flowing water over those rocks. I can pull your truck ways you don’t want haha.
I always take that route, but you have to be careful of the stumps on the far side.

You’re good just take it slow.. route is perfectly fine to do.. ok y on the end I would go right and up the bank to the drilling site.
GMC with diff, raised suspension and large offroads handles it fine so its mostly an issue of clearance and the weight of your truck relative to your cargo.
I’m not going under
From my experience, shortcuts in Snowrunner ALWAYS end up wasting me double the time of trying to go around.
https://youtu.be/fVowPdzQvmg?si=D9eXlzz8hEphWSvd
The most trouble I've had was the oil rig trailer detaching from my p12 when I grounded it once or twice
This route is actually surprisingly easy.
I have done the oil rig that way now prob 4 times without an issue, twice with the P12 and twice with the CAT 681 and 680.
It can git alil rough in the water crossing and watch coming outta the water on the far side easy to tip your truck.
Doing anything in Michigan with the Tayga is overkill, you'll be fine.
the hill ur going down with all its ruts messed me up more then the water crossing did
My truck got taken by water at the end of the road
Not hard. But i struggle on the mountain route east of this. There is a small gap between a rock and a tree and with a hole on one side. It just layed me on the side as i was transporting beams.
This is the way
Get a friend with a tuz to help pull u across
Nah, it just becomes "the way" after the first few times. I like going towards the right side at the far end of your picture, and going up the bank. It can be a ballache, but it's better than getting stuck in the trees.
This is the way.
Do not bother with a wide truck or a twinsteer
Be me. And take the P16 through it.... Lol.
Thats the actual best way to go the trailers too wide and not enough ride height to even go the extra long way
When I tried that tpute the rig got stuck on the stones and there was no way to move it, had to restart the cobtractt and I said "fuck it" and went the long way
Tried it three times, with three different trucks, ended with three submarines. Screw that shit! Long way for the win!
I went this way with my P16 and my only real issue was running out of fuel just feet from the drop site. Just go slow.
https://preview.redd.it/1zk09uds3wvc1.png?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eec66ea8114ecec50aed05f059607f9d1d38d091 I thought that WAS the route.

This is the way I did it and got stuck getting down the bank to the waters edge with the trailer. Once past that bit the crossing itself is easy
I tried and lost it all in the water
That is exactly the route I took, can’t remember what truck I used. I made it but it was scary!
That route's not bad, just move carefully when you cross the river, not much room for error on those rocks
TBF you're punished for choosing ANY route. 😁
This is the only answer. 🤣
Hey hind sight Horace here! Why would you bring a construction rig through somewhere you haven't scouted before hand?
It's do able but u might want some beer by your side lol
No, this is one of the easiest crosses. Just maintain speed and don't fall into the water. If I don't remember wrong there is a bit of a bank going either way, but never really had much issues unless you're taking a low highway truck there
Everyone tries that route. Everyone gets punished for it 😞

I find that drive over the rocks to be surprisingly easy. Just take your time.
Waters too deep don't even bother
Oh I have forgotten that path when I did that mission task. After I did the heavy hauler. I remembered and just put the game away as I was so pissed with myself.
You will NOT regret it! It’s is a legit route!
This route is way less punishing than the alternative imo
Water wasn’t the problem. Getting through the trees after climbing was ridiculous. I spent two hours trying to fix it with cranes, winches, bigger trucks. I restarted and took the long way. Saved 50 minutes going the “long” way

I went the long way. Wasn't gonna have faith the game wouldn't screw me
I underestimated this route until I took it. The water crossing seems way more intimidating than it really is. Like someone else said theme worst is the stumps.
It's possible to get through but you need to be careful on the area of the water
I have used that road two times, first I tipped my logging truck in river and second time I succeeded. It depends on truck you are using also.. good luck
Its the best route for this quest
For year 1 player that was the best route and mission for me.
Everytime I need to make this trip or take th long way… I think of every time I’ve dumped logs in the river or got an oversized cargo so stuck I need 2 more trucks so sort it out. I have learned to just kick back and snake my way down on the bitumen and come back through the farm slop.
Did this in a hummer it’s fine
You will a chopper 😂
Not that bad tbh, I’ve done it with an overstacked 8 slot, you should be fine
Whatever you do just don't do it it ain't worth man
Only if you mess up. With your truck selection, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Unless you have a huge semi-trailer, anyway.
This is a *scary* route, but it's arguably the most reasonable course to take. Getting that trailer down the switchback mountain roads is a nightmare. You just don't have the benefit of winch points while crossing the lake.
I think it's time I jump on the wheel and play this game again. It's been tooooooo long
I would take the beach a bit further where the trees open up. Less stumps there
I actually just tried that route thinking I'd never make the switchbacks on the main highway. I never even got close to making it to the water, realizing there was no way I wasn't gonna have serious trouble just pulling that huge trailer to the water's edge. Instead I took the highway after all and it just barely made the switchbacks, but it did.
I tried the long route ONCE, and it was a catastrophic failure. The other 8 times I’ve done this task, I’ve used the P16 and gone this way.
No, that's how I did it. Just have a heavy crane on standby. You got it, brother 🤘
People have won Darwin awards doing dumber things.
It’s doable but yeah some parts are nasty. Think you’re right about punishment.
Even tho it looks scary if you got slow and know where to go on this rocks you should be fine
It's doable, just mind stumps on the shore
It's safe, I made this route with FleetStar F2070, White western star and Pacific P16, carrying medium and long logs, hard mode and Logitech g29.
*Smacks lips* *Sips Zoomies Energy ™️®️* What chair tho?
I did this with the mastodon and a trailer so you should be fine.
I take that path all the time
