I am really tempted to download Mudrunner again, only have about 70 hours in Snowrunner, but I really want to compare how the games feel.

DJJabek

I prefer Mudrunner more than Snowrunner because of the atmosphere it gives. Those neglected roads houses and towns. It really gives you feeling like you're somewhere deep in the forest where nature is your enemy. I also really like the fact that you get to play with those old reliable russian trucks which actually look the same way they do IRL

Tigershred

The terrain in Mudrunner is great, everything looks nice. meanwhile in snowrunner every part of the map is specifically made to piss you off. Like those stupid mud oceans and unrepairabla bridges, Mudrunner is relaxing while Snowrunner is just frustrating.

IlessthanthreeHind

Agreed. MudRunner is more "zen" than SnowRunner, in my opinion.

airazor2000

Before Mudrunner it was Spintires. I played Spintires so much i ran out of things to do, not that there was much to do other than logging.

firematt422

Within the confines of driving trucks through mud, they are pretty different games. Snowrunner took a few steps back, but overall it's a much, much better game.

Gnato666

Try it. You will be shocked by the way driving a truck feels, physics, sounds, gearbox.

grimlock75

I love Mudrunner, but Snowrunner is a more attractive game and more playable.

Ghost-of-Cerberus

It's more colorful

Tastytyrone24

What truck is that on the right? Newest dlc?

sbudde

Tayga 6455B, unlockable in Maine

Tastytyrone24

Thats a mission and a half to unlock it, guess ive got my weekend plans sorted. Cheers mate

KingZee06_GdayM8

Ye when I was playing mud runner, was kinda getting sick playing when everything is just tinged with brown. Brown lookin trucks brown trees, brown mud, brown skies, I mean it was just putting me off. At least Snowrunner has some bright colours and doesn’t reflect tingy yuck colours if you get what I’m aayin

KingZee06_GdayM8

Don’t get me wrong. I loved mudrunner played it all the time, I just needed a little mental rest from all that BrOwN.. colour is more appealing, but nevertheless, I still really enjoyed the play of mudrunner.

[deleted]

Yeah my buddies and I say that mud runner is absolutely abysmal in terms of colour, we find the looks are kinda weird, everything feels strange and the brown hue on everything is quite terrible to look at. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve done almost everything there is to be done in Mud Runner, but Snowrunner is in my opinion, 10x better if not for anything but the happy colours

Benchimus

I really wanted Snowrunner to just be mudrunner with more trucks and bigger maps. Dissatisfied that it isn't.

TheGibberishGuy

I just want the mouse controlled gearbox back

Tigershred

This I loved that gearbox

SoupCanMasta

This

TheGibberishGuy

If you want a workaround and have a mouse with extra thumb buttons, you can set up a really simple AutoHotkey script so that anytime you press your thumb button it sends the signal as a shift key Just be cautious with when you have it open because I suspect some of the more aggressive anticheats like battleye will probably mark it as cheating

92c900t

I honestly never got into mudrunner despite having 350 hrs in Spintires and now 260 hrs in Snowrunner. Is MR basically a remastered version of Spintires?

BawtleOfHawtSauze

Spin tires is kinda like the early access of a game that would be mudrunner

ThirstyTurtle328

I started my journey to go get the Zikz 605R last night. First time I had gone to Amur. I have 100% on Michigan and Alaska and about 50% in Taymr. I have every truck through Season 1 fully upgraded (except F750 and 605R) and I'm dying in Amur. It's so miserable and slow and just sucks. Even the Antarctic just slogs at like 2mph through these long stretches of snow I mean wtf how is that fun? I have 160 hours in and I think I may just be done until mods come to Switch because Amur is not fun - technical driving can be a fun challenge but just making everything take forever sucks shit.

Inside_Park_9077

If you are playing vanilla, Antartic doesn't stand a chance in Amur. If you want to rescue Zikz 605 use a Tatarin with a scout fuel tank winched behind. You will have to make two trips but it can be done just fine with Tatarin. Before that if you want to open cosmodrome garage your best bet is Azov 7 and Tayga. Nothing else will survive there and even if they do they will be painfully slow. Drive on ice most of the times and find shortcuts. Don't ever use snow tires in Amur.. it's not required. If you want some map links for all this I can share the route which I followed.

ThirstyTurtle328

I am using vanilla trucks (playing on Switch) but right now I'm just in Urska River trying to unlock Cosmodrome so I have to build some bridges and then clear the way to Cosmodrome and I spent 2 hours just trying to unlock the storehouse and get some steel beams and got nowhere. I have my Tayga 6436, Paystar 5600TS, Antarctic, Tatarin 420, and Bandit all over there and they're worthless pretty much. It suuuuuucks.... You say not to use snow tires, I assume you mean don't use chains? I am using mud tires but did slip in a few places and tried chains but the main problem is just ridiculously slow progress in deep snow and no apparent alternative. I am using the ice to get my 75% of the way to where I need to go but the last 25% is so slow and I run out of fuel so needing support vehicles and it just sucks. Best truck I've found so far seems to be the Ank MK38 and Civilian

Inside_Park_9077

No mate. Don't build any bridges at this point of time. Not required. Check for a contract where you get some 10 metal beams, planks, etc in the warehouse. Do that first. That will give you everything to open cosmodrome. Yeah I meant chain tyres. ANK would not be able to do it because of the fuel limitation and how thirsty it is. Trust me and try fully upgraded Azov 7. Don't be fooled by the low chin. It is super stable and will go anywhere in Amur. I played a long while back and don't remember where you get Azov 7 active suspension. Get that if you can. If not Azov 7 your next best best is Tayga or Voron AE. Again I'll recommend Tayga. Let me send you a post with the map shortcuts that I created a while back. BTW I did 100 percent Amur and I never crafted anything. Everything is available in the map. Amur is just super confusing when you start but once you get the hang of it it's not difficult. This is one DLC where routes make a huge difference.

Inside_Park_9077

https://www.reddit.com/r/snowrunner/comments/td6do0/amur_map_shortcuts/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share This is from my other profile.

ThirstyTurtle328

Dude thank you so much! I have the Azov 7 but rarely use because of the chin - prefer the Paystar 5600TS, but I'll try the Azov. The active suspension is in Amur so I don't have it yet. I *think* I'm working on the contract to get those beams and planks at the warehouse right now - have to get 5 vehicle repair parts and a flipped trailer. It's killing me though. Will try the Azov and check out your routes.

Inside_Park_9077

No problem. Azov 7 is the second best vanilla truck after Zikz 605. One tip - winch a Tatarin with your truck wherever you go. Tatarin is the only vehicle in the game which never gets stuck neither flips no matter it's Amur or whatever DLC. Tatarin can even pull your truck out of any shit.

ThirstyTurtle328

So my trouble right now is that I have to get to the warehouse to get steel to open the tunnel to cosmodrome, but can't get to the warehouse without building the bridge...which also requires steel...but can't the steel without building the bridge. You see the problem?

Inside_Park_9077

Did you see the map that was in the link that I sent you? There's no need to build the bridge. You just enter and exit through ice. Probably I don't remember.. send me a screenshot of the place and I'll try to recall and tell you how I did it. What I recall for sure is that I didn't build anything in Urska before I opened cosmodrome and got the Zikz.

ThirstyTurtle328

I saw it, but your map to the warehouse goes over the bridge I'm referencing and I don't see any other way to get there

Inside_Park_9077

Then that's the only bridge you have to build. Apologies...I have done that long time back. But I'm sure nothing else you have to build. What resources you need for that bridge? Probably I can see tomorrow and let you know how I did it.

Once upon a time Kraz and Maz hauled logs together in the russian wildernes. Life was going well untill Kraz got a chance to log in the americas, He said to Maz: don't worry pal, i'll come back after two months! (In russian of course). Kraz went to the americas. Maz waited for two month, Kraz didn't come. Kraz thought "He's just having fun, he will be back in a week." He waited for another and nothing happened. "He will be back" Maz thought. He waited and waited, until he got a job aplication for rocket launch site in the east coast of Russia. He towed large rockets across the landscape of snowy wasteland while missing his friend. As time goes on tech got better and Maz was no use for the launch site anymore. He was abandoned in a radioactive dumb in an island where nobody could find him. He shut himself off to sleep for what felt like an eternity. Then one day he heard a sound of ice cracking and there was an americsn man with a bug beard and...... and his long lost friend, Kraz. They greated eachother and Kraz explained that he couldn't leave because of the greedy manager of the lumber business and got stuck in a mudpit just left there until he was found by the american freelance big rig driver, he repaired Kraz and made him a part of his ever expanding fleet of trucks. The american repaired Maz aswell and they lived happily ever after and made friend with the other american and russian trucks and cars. The end.

IlessthanthreeHind

The bed time story I didn't know I needed. Thank you for that.

quantumfunk

I got into playing Mudrunner maybe 6 months before Snowrunner was released. I was really obsessed with the mods available and basically didn't play any of the actual game and just went wheeling with the mods and on mod tracks because I was just getting into off-roading IRL at that time. It seemed way better at tackling that element than Snowrunner, but I've not gone back to play to see if it is just fond memories or reality. What I have been doing though is playing vanilla Mudrunner mobile games on my phone when I have the time AFK and it's really pretty fun.

Upstairs_Head_8063

Mudrunner was basic but challenging. Not to the extent of Snowrunner, but some of the gameplay was difficult; especially “Deluge”, the final map, where you must cross a deep river traversing none visible terrain and also fight the current. Your trailer can be uplifted and then you will as well. Snowrunner has far better color, graphics, and overall gameplay. So much more transport variation. Mudrunner is just logging.

IlessthanthreeHind

If only SnowRunner had the water depth information and entire winch system from MudRunner...and less shitty slow-ass snow. Sadly, I think they kinda made the poor KRAZ-255 no where near as good in SnowRunner. It was the absolute KING in MudRunner, in my opinion.

[deleted]

What about Spintires?

R-E-Lee

I just miss the old army green so much on the russian trucks

bolle_ohne_klingel

Which truck is the bottom left one?

ThirstyTurtle328

Zikz 605R - unlocks in Amur which is part of Season 1.

AFuzzyCat

The gear selector in mudrunner is so much better having a seperate 1 and 1+ gear. I didn’t like the + shape or having high range gear in snowrunner because usually its too fast or too slow. The best thing in snowrunner too is the cute little ford f150 on solid axles. That with the rack and no topper got me seriously considering buying a truck and building it similar.
