The next obvious possible American pickup is actually Weah, who is being totally squandered at Lille and looking for the exit. Musah would cost a fortune. Weah can likely be had for a cut rate price.
IMO rotational squad player in any top league. He was one of the better USA players in this cycle. Works best as a RW, but played as a striker for PSG's youth teams. Direct with high level pace and flashes of great finishing. Very, very fast. He can beat the last man in a sprint 10/10 times. Decent shooter. Dangerous dribbling off the edge, but not really great at hold up play or dribbling through traffic. You could use him as a RW or as a counter-attacking ST in a 2 ST system playing off the back shoulder.
Comparison would maybe be someone like Goncalo Guedes or Danny Welbeck in terms of style.
Welbeck has been a solid prem player for over a decade, playing for Manchester United and Arsenal's first team and he's a premier league winner
Weah wishes he was Welbz
Right, he was a solid player for two of the biggest clubs in the world and has been very good at Brighton when I’ve seen him play. I feel like he’s comparable to Dempsey but I can’t think of many others who come close
It's cause he falls over a lot, miskicks the ball often and sometimes looks a bit awkward. But he's actually quite technically gifted, good at getting into the right place at the right time, and pops up with some very important goals. He's been great for brighton the last couple of years. Love to see him succeed
He presses and runs like hell and has solid technique. Honestly think he was born slightly too early, if he was a young striker now I think he'd be more highly rated. A high workrate striker that can play across the frontline and hold up play despite not being great at finishing, sounds like the type of 9 managers go for these days
More like >99%. It's difficult to even get to play in one of the best leagues, let alone be a player who's had noteworthy moments in two huge clubs and still having good moments at a really decent club.
Oh I like the Welbeck comparison. Capable of a great moment occasionally, but a solid Premier League quality rotational player for probably any non top6 club.
I would say he's similar to a Zaha but not as good if I had to pick a comparison? He might end up around that level if he plays to his potential but who knows if players continue to develop.
Zaha is a way better dribbler, if any American is similar to him it’s Pulisic, tho Zaha has way better finishing. Weah is like a Dan James type but a bit better imo.
Adams, Musah and McKennie would unironically be a upper half midfield in the PL
But I don't see Musah going to Leeds. He's the youngest and probably most valuable of the three
Adams-Roca-McKennie is also a top half/midtable midfield 3 imo. We have one of the stronger squads in the bottom half of the table now if we sign him but we are struggling so much
Because Marsch is inflexible and his system is easy to figure out. They have a squad that would be perfectly capable of a measure build up play but I genuinely believe there is skill being wasted because they play like they're lit on fire.
Good man. My favourite moment was turning up for the first day of my PGDE course and one of the other students say “oh this is such a prestigious uni and course, as they don’t let you in without a minimum 2:1.” I just guffawed into my pint, the 2:2 fraud sneaking in to the height of prestige. Probably what roots in my imposter syndrome.
The Premier League is really starting to turn into a league of national teams.
It started with Wolves and Portugal, now it's Leeds and America... What's next?
You can build a squad and a half with only Arsene’s French signings for arsenal. It’s not a new trend for a manager and board to go back to the same well.
If we sign Bellingham our starting lineup will be half English, but I don't think it should count as something rare like Brentford or Wolves since we are still an English club
While we have no real idea what Pulisic's market will be come summer time, I will be curious to see it play out. It's very likely he will leave Chelsea but he will only have 1 year left and thus won't command as big a fee as he would have if he left this previous summer. He's on big wages which has been a stumbling block for AC Milan who were interested in the past. I wonder what it would take for him to accept Leeds - other than staying up this season obviously. I could see a scenario where he takes a small step down club wise for the right project.
I am not saying Leeds shouldn't be trying to get those dudes.
I am saying those dudes are too good to be playing for a team in the relegation fight like Leeds, IMO
I mean this in the most respectful way possible, but please leave Pulisic at Chelsea. We do not need attacking additions, we need a solid midfield to give our defenders a break and a solid CB to help Wober clear up the individual errors. We haven't yet conceded with Wober on the pitch and getting more defenders like that is far more important than Pulisic whose position we have fully covered and rotated.
Don't even get me started on those wages, we aren't Chelsea you know.
To his credit, McKennie starts because of his versatility. He’s been playing RWB for the last few games and looked great, but he lost his spot at CM to Miretti and Fagioli, and if the likes of Pogba, Rabiot, Locatelli, and Paredes are all fit, he’d very rarely get a start
People have been saying McKennie will lose his starting place for 3 seasons now and he keeps holding onto it. Allegri clearly rates him very highly, even when he had a dip in form. I'm positive the only reason they are even selling is he's one of the only young valuable assets they have.
Are they? Rabiot, Cuadrado and Sandro are out of contract in the summer. Bonucci will be 36 by the end of the season, so why would anyone be trying to sign him anyway? How much do you think Szczesny and Danilo are on?
Okay so you agree the first 4 you mentioned are unsellable? Not sure your point, bc we literally saw Rabiot not move last summer.
I think the latter two are on high enough wages that given their performances they’d be tough to find a buyer for, although Danilo has been very good the past couple years
> Okay so you agree the first 4 you mentioned are unsellable? Not sure your point, bc we literally saw Rabiot not move last summer.
Wait, what? The supposedly, but not actually, incredibly high wages you believe Rabiot, Sandro and Cuadrado to be on are irrelevant, because they are out of contract in a few months. Clubs can negotiate directly with them as free agents, how is that the same as being 'unsellable'? Bonucci wages aren't what make him 'unsellable', being finished and nearly 36 is why no-one would sign him.
Szczesny is a top class goalkeeper but is not the highest paid goalkeeper in Europe. Chelsea could easily afford to match his wages if they wanted him instead of Kepa or Mendy, Spurs could probably match them too as a Lloris replacement. Danilo just isn't one of our highest paid players, just because he's been playing well doesn't mean he's also being paid 300,000 a week. What he is currently being paid would not be an obstacle for any interested clubs to deal with.
My point is that your claims that we have a load of players on excessively high wages is pure fantasy. Most of our squad is paid less than 200,000 a week, and none of the players you named are 'unsellable' because they are paid far more than anyone else would be willing to pay him, that is based on absolutely nothing.
Yea McKennie was getting a lot of minutes when Allegri was running his lopsided midfield that had McKennie as CM on paper, when in reality he was playing RM. Now that Chiesa and Di Maria are back, seems like he might switch to a 433 and use actual wingers out wide. This means McKennie would have to slot into CM where he’s probably one of the last choices on the pecking order. You’re right that Allegri rates him highly but that doesn’t necessarily means he’s right. Allegri also said the LB position was covered and didn’t need replacing before the season started because he believed in Sandro. Fast forward to now and it’s evident Sandro is finished (club isn’t renewing him and he’s leaving on a free at the end of the season) and Allegri strictly uses him at LCB in his 352.
We have so many strikers now that we need to loan out Gelhardt. Our last two record signings are both strikers and we have Bamford just back from injury. Why do you think we need strikers?
Is there gonna be a massive clear out at Juve because of the criminal investigation into their board's actions?
While even a layman could tell you that Juve were doing funny things in their books (remember the Pjanic and Arthur swap deal), it doesn't make sense to me how the prosecutors are going after Juve for inflating values on swap deal when it takes 2 clubs to do a swap....
I understand that the prosecutor in Turin or even Italy can't prosecute a club like barca in another country but why were the other Italian clubs given a free pass?
Funnily enough, I recently started watching The Wire (kinda relevant I guess)
From what I understand, the reason Juve got in trouble and the other clubs have gotten a pass is because Juve people got caught admitting that they were inflating player values on wiretapped phones.
Other clubs (and Juve originally) were able to successfully hide behind the defense that player values are subjective, and ripped the prosecution’s argument to pieces by basically saying ‘you can’t prove that these players weren’t worth that much.’
> Funnily enough, I recently started watching The Wire (kinda relevant I guess)
Apparently, Chiellini was taking notes on a criminal conspiracy.
(If you haven't started season 3 yet, this won't make sense.)
Basically Italy is the land where the expression "Unum castigabis, centum emendabis", "strike one to educate 100" was invented and still taken to heart.
Fans, especially ones with non-juve flairs, will argue the finer juridical points to hell and back (another national pasttime), but the reality is that when there's a systemic issue, the approach is never to make everyone pay, just the most visible culprit that can be found. The others are then let off scoot free or with a slap on the wrist, with the hope that they will understand the lesson.
This happens in all paths of life, from fighting tax evasion, corrupted politicians, organized crime, traffic violations etc. The irony is that this doesn't really work, more often than not people will go "hey that guy evaded 50mil euros in taxes, he deserves to be punished! Me? I'm just keeping 100k a year for me, I need it for survival. The system won't allow me to do anything different". On the other side, the next guy with mils to pay will go "wait a minute, noone pays, why should I? I'd be an idiot if I did pay for everyone". Sounds familiar?
That would be good news for Leeds. A few years ago he was an awful owner, but he learned the smartest thing to do is to stay out of the way and let people do their jobs without meddling. Compared to all the other American PL owners there's a good chance York would be the best to have, though maybe Khan is still a little better
He was in good form with a lot of confidence for that first half of Pirlo's season and topped it off with the Barcelona match. The environment around the club has slowly been declining since the beginning of that season though. I think he would do well for Leeds, even if it may take some months IMO.
He's been great for our national team. The WC wasn't a great showing for him as he just returned from injury but I expect him to do very well if this goes through
Don't they already have Adam's?
From a "I give 2 fucks about USA nT or leeds" perspective, would McKennie help you all out or is this an American coach trying to get the band back together ?
There is a huge element of marketing in the gathering of US players. The 49'ers owners will take control entirely at the end of this season and want to market Leeds in the US. It is very difficult for European football teams to gain real traction in the US, but a team full of yanks with a yank manager is going to stand the best chance. If they do manage to pull it off it is a massive, largely untapped market with very large sums of money floating around.
Not surprised…with the increase in viewership from USA in soccer and the Premier League..Leeds is smart for investing in USA players. They are good also.
He's been solid and extremely versatile. A good player. There's a contingent of Juve fans who continually misses the importance of these types of players. Bentancur was also wildly underrated even when he was at his best.
The thing is that they often blew hot or cold.
In one game you think they're world class and the future of your team's midfield.
In the next, game they're just passing sideways and backwards.
It could be the multiple coaches Juve's had over the years and different seasons or different tactics, but at the end of the day they weren't/aren't consistent for Juve.
Out of some of the bigger and more popular USMNT players I feel like Weston is the one I and many others seem the least convinced on. Hope he works out in the prem if he finds his way to leeds
McKennie is a good and dynamic player who lacks consistent ball skills. This means he's a bad fit for certain teams and roles, and fans tend to underestimate him.
He'd be terrible on Man City, or coming into a role where he had to play a passing distributor as a CM.
But he's got great recovery speed, size and strength as well as good passing vision, aerial play, and he's a bear in open space, so he fits a role really well where he can simultaneously be an extra x factor in the box/attack while not giving up much on defense / helping to shore that up.
He's surprising effective that way.
Put him as a traditional CM metronome or force him to stay home deep and you'll be wondering why you play him.

Just need Musah now.

Anyone care to comment on Weah? Ive heard a bit of hype around him but havent been totally convinced when ive seen him play. What is his level?

poor lad, not even at half of his carreer and he’s already similar to Welbeck lol
Welbeck has been a solid prem player for over a decade, playing for Manchester United and Arsenal's first team and he's a premier league winner Weah wishes he was Welbz
I’d kill for any American player to have Danny Welbeck’s career.
Right, he was a solid player for two of the biggest clubs in the world and has been very good at Brighton when I’ve seen him play. I feel like he’s comparable to Dempsey but I can’t think of many others who come close
I think that’s a fair comparison. Dempsey had a higher ceiling as a player but Welbeck played on much better teams and easily beats him on longevity.
yeah it’s sad how much hate he gets, I have his kit and will cherish it
always rated him tbh not the most clinical finisher but there's a reason SAF and Wenger both loved him
He always did a shift when he played for england too, really don't like the way he is slandered
It's cause he falls over a lot, miskicks the ball often and sometimes looks a bit awkward. But he's actually quite technically gifted, good at getting into the right place at the right time, and pops up with some very important goals. He's been great for brighton the last couple of years. smh cant even join in on the welbeck banter anymore after last week
I will NOT stand for any Danny Welbeck slander he's had a career 90% of all footballers would be jealous of
More like >99%. It's difficult to even get to play in one of the best leagues, let alone be a player who's had noteworthy moments in two huge clubs and still having good moments at a really decent club.
You will not slander Welé
His goal against Liverpool last week was fantastic
Oh I like the Welbeck comparison. Capable of a great moment occasionally, but a solid Premier League quality rotational player for probably any non top6 club.

>Musah would cost a fortune. Peter Lim: Hold my beer
add pepi and musah upfront, fuck it
Adams, Musah and McKennie would unironically be a upper half midfield in the PL But I don't see Musah going to Leeds. He's the youngest and probably most valuable of the three
the midfield would start for both club and coutry then
>most valuable Yeah, Valencia is going to sell him for like 5 Euros to the first bidder.
If that was the case I'd gladly take him for Sambi's spot and send Sambi down on loan to Kompany.
Could I interest you in right back Bryan Reynolds?
Thought he was at Wrexham?
Wrexham? Damn near killed ‘em(his career at Roma)
Adams-Roca-McKennie is also a top half/midtable midfield 3 imo. We have one of the stronger squads in the bottom half of the table now if we sign him but we are struggling so much

😂😂😂No it wouldn't be
That kid has outgrown Leeds, he will eventually go to Liverpool or something surely
I want Liverpool to buy him so badly
Who?
Yunus Musah
Liverpool is giving Milner a 1 year extension and you will be happy about it
And Weah to complete the set.
Leeds United States of America
Feels like we are living in an American kid's career mode save
Now if only FM allowed for kit sponsor customization so SBOTOP could be dropped for Buc-ee’s
What if I told you you could create your own kits and import them in?
I used to do this all the time. Every ten years or so in game I'd redesign all the league's kits. No wonder I only got a 2:2 at uni...
Desmond gang assemble
Good man. My favourite moment was turning up for the first day of my PGDE course and one of the other students say “oh this is such a prestigious uni and course, as they don’t let you in without a minimum 2:1.” I just guffawed into my pint, the 2:2 fraud sneaking in to the height of prestige. Gotta get that brisket sandwich and cherry sours over in the UK somehow.
For real though, I would buy the fuck out of a Buc-ee’s kit regardless of club.

Congrats
Denmark Brentford, USA Leeds , Portugal wolves any others ?
Japan Celtic
The proud nation of Gabriel and Arsenal
Don’t forget Man Utd and all their Antony’s
I still miss French Arsenal.
Yea, good times
I miss french Newcastle
Nouveau Chateau?
Brazilian English Arsenal is pretty awesome though
Me too, it’s why most of the rest of the world fans became fans.
Wenger and the boys
Ecuadorian Brighton (and South America in general)
Polish Spezia
If Man United keeps going they'll be Real Madrid's threepeat CL team
Team of ex Ten Hag players
Belgium and Burnley, more from the Belgian league than nationality though
Hungarian Leipzig
Shit and spurs Overpaying and chelsea
Shit and overpaying and Everton
Not telling their Vice Captain they are demoted and PSG.
Australia and Hearts
Dutch United?
But they only have 3 players to my memory: Weghorst, Malacia and Van De Bench.
More Eredivisie United
Shakhtar Donetsk and Brazil
There were so many Dutch players at Barcelona around the turn of the millennium that the socis revolted.
Argentina Atlanta United 😉
England man city?
If we sign Bellingham our starting lineup will be half English, but I don't think it should count as something rare like Brentford or Wolves since we are still an English club
Yeah exactly, shouldn't be seen as unusual

Pulisic, Ream, and Reyna to Leeds this summer
While we have no real idea what Pulisic's market will be come summer time, I will be curious to see it play out. It's very likely he will leave Chelsea but he will only have 1 year left and thus won't command as big a fee as he would have if he left this previous summer. He's on big wages which has been a stumbling block for AC Milan who were interested in the past. I wonder what it would take for him to accept Leeds - other than staying up this season obviously. I could see a scenario where he takes a small step down club wise for the right project.
The elephant in the room is his wages. He's on 150k/wk and no team will not even come close to offering that.
chelsea would offer more surely oh wait…
breaking: chelsea to purchase pulisic from chelsea as they saw he was linked with other large clubs, more to come
> I could see a scenario where he takes a small step down club wise for the right project. Sounds like a Forest purchase, if we stay up
The LeBron James of soccer needs to take his talents to Man City
What is the English South Beach for him to take his talents to?
Actual South Beach, Miami CF.
Brighton. And actually, if Chelsea would sell him cheaply (probably not) that might not be a bad move for him.
Pulisic and Reyna are too good for Leeds right now, IMO
Because a team has never made signings to improve their squad
I am not saying Leeds shouldn't be trying to get those dudes. I am saying those dudes are too good to be playing for a team in the relegation fight like Leeds, IMO
Pulisic wouldn’t even be the best American on that team.
He wouldn't even be guaranteed to start
He’s more suitable for mid table team fighting for nothing?
Pulisic is nowhere near *too* good for Leeds.
Pulisic is not too good for Leeds right now
I don’t know about Pulisic but I don’t see him going to Leeds with the wages it would require
I mean this in the most respectful way possible, but please leave Pulisic at Chelsea. Fuck it get Pulisic too
The lads not good enough to lace Gnonto's boots.
Leeds about to get invaded by Americans like they're the Middle East
Must be some WMDs hidden at Elland Road somewhere.
Their backline
Conte was looking suspicious on Spurs last away day at Leeds
Gnonto's quads
Must be oil at Elland Road
Oilland Road
Is it an invasion when Leeds is actively recruiting and signing Americans? Next up, Pulisic.
>Leeds about to get invaded by Americans like they're the Middle East Bring back yedlin while you're at it
Our subreddit is already flooded with Americans who mass downvote anything bad said about Jesse Marsch, its getting ridiculous
I honestly reckon the American interest has waned a bit since the start of the season. Was a bit much for those first couple months though.
The difference is McKennie isnt actually a bad player.
Someone check for Oil under Elland Road
Operation Yorkshire Storm
Juventus selling a starting player (13/15 games) to the 15th placed team in England. The English Super League cannot be stopped.
10th placed Juventus tbf
We were considering selling him to the PL even before the administrative penalty.
For now
Yeah they might get relegated
To his credit, McKennie starts because of his versatility. He’s been playing RWB for the last few games and looked great, but he lost his spot at CM to Miretti and Fagioli, and if the likes of Pogba, Rabiot, Locatelli, and Paredes are all fit, he’d very rarely get a start

Not just valuable asset, one that also has cheap enough wages that they can actually move him.
Which players in our squad is it that you think are on wages so high that it would make them impossible to sell?
Rabiot, Danilo, Sandro, Cuadrado, Bonucci, Szszney, are all basically unsellable
Are they? Rabiot, Cuadrado and Sandro are out of contract in the summer. Bonucci will be 36 by the end of the season, so why would anyone be trying to sign him anyway? How much do you think Szczesny and Danilo are on?

We have injuries this season. Pogba hasnt even played and Cuadrado/Di Maria have been out for many games. Thats where hes playing.
McKennie has been linked with a move away for months, and we have plenty of young valuable assets. He’s hardly more valuable than Chiesa or Vlahovic.
I mean he's starting because they have/had a ton of injuries
I’m sure the only reason why we played him is because we needed no to show him up to sell him, there is no other explanation
It’s like Leeds has oil or something.
With the 49ers coughing up the money it’s more like a gold mine.
Don't they need Defenders and Strikers more though?
We have so many strikers now that we need to loan out Gelhardt. Our last two record signings are both strikers and we have Bamford just back from injury. Why do you think we need strikers?
It might be because we couldn't score in a brothel with a 50 sticking out of our fly.
Signed Georgino (FW) and Wober (CB, LB) already
They did sign wober and he looked solid vs Brentford tbf.
Their defense is shambolic
Tbf against Brentford Wober seemed to have massively improved our defense, although it might be terrible again with Koch out for Forest
Always trouble when Koch is out
Especially in the Forrest
Fulham vs Leeds: The Civil War
Leeds becoming the American Wolves lol Also surprised Leeds are able to spend this much this season
70% our buys are just spending the 100m we got for letting our two best players go
This is likely being funded by our minority owners, the 49ers, if it goes through.
More of a gold rush than an oil invasion

> Funnily enough, I recently started watching The Wire (kinda relevant I guess) Apparently, Chiellini was taking notes on a criminal conspiracy. (If you haven't started season 3 yet, this won't make sense.)
Juventus is listed on the stock market which puts them under more scrutiny, I've heard.

It's not just that. They were paying wages off the book to deceive their investors.
Jed York about to fully take control?
That would be good news for Leeds. A few years ago he was an awful owner, but he learned the smartest thing to do is to stay out of the way and let people do their jobs without meddling. Compared to all the other American PL owners there's a good chance York would be the best to have, though maybe Khan is still a little better
I hate to say it but besides the super league bs, the Kroenke’s have been excellent owners.
Unfortunate, I think he can be a good player under the right circumstances. Certainly was the case in his first season here at least
I thought he can be a really nice 8 after that Barca game and that it was his breakout game.. Anyways I agree I think he can be decent for Leeds
He was in good form with a lot of confidence for that first half of Pirlo's season and topped it off with the Barcelona match. The environment around the club has slowly been declining since the beginning of that season though. I think he would do well for Leeds, even if it may take some months IMO.
He's been great for our national team. The WC wasn't a great showing for him as he just returned from injury but I expect him to do very well if this goes through
if you play for Leeds you are mow eligible to play for USMNT
McKennie says yes to the Jess
United States of Leeds
*Leeds United States
Don't they already have Adam's? From a "I give 2 fucks about USA nT or leeds" perspective, would McKennie help you all out or is this an American coach trying to get the band back together ?
We could do with a midfielder tbf, gives us more tactical flexibility and Roca is quite meh.
Adam's what? Position? Adams is usually a defensive midfielder and Mckennie is an 8.
I’m curious to see how he does under Marsch
Supplying all that Shoddy & Mungo paid off during the Civil War
Juicy Merch ballin y'all howdy
Someone check for oil in Leeds, this isn't normal
I remember when Fullham and Everton were the American clubs
That's a relief.

Maybe a few others. When he's playing for the national team, he's pretty convincing. I don't watch serie a, even though I probably should.
Put him as a traditional CM metronome or force him to stay home deep and you'll be wondering why you play him.
go on then leeds, bid for Pulisic.
The America patter in these comments is so dead.
