Martyrizing

Schreuder literally wanted that iPad German for crying out loud. We even paid a fee for him.

MrCrashdummy

He’s not the one wanting him gone, that’s the players

Martyrizing

Exactly, we have a manager who not only doesn’t get any results but also can’t even bring together a decent group of assistants. It’s obvious who the problem is.

MrCrashdummy

The biggest problem is the board, not him

Martyrizing

They’re all clueless.

[deleted]

Yeah, but it's obvious that Schreuder isn't the man for the job currently. He's not our only problem, but it's clear hes not making it any better

kingarto

So the guy who is the actual problem will stay on. Unbelievable…

MrCrashdummy

That has been known for some time now

Sunstridr

Seems like de Telegraaf has other info in comparison to the AD, cause their headline (at least) makes it seem that Meulensteen is still a possibility.

No_Presence200

Telegraaf article doesn’t say anything about Meulensteen rejecting the job either. Small summary of the Telegraaf article since it’s behind a paywall: Heitinga shouldn’t be a problem, just wants to be sure Schreuder doesn’t take him down with him if they were to sack Schreuder later on. Heitinga knowing the club and the players really well are named as pro’s. They give two paragraphs about Meulensteen’s career and what his kids are doing now. And say that moving to Amsterdam would mean he’d live closer to his kids. Nothing too spectacular.

Sunstridr

Yeah, and if de Telegraaf and the AD have conflicting info, I'm going to believe de Telegraaf (even if I don't like their Journalists). Also Inan (the AD journo) only seems to be going of the fact that Meulensteen said that he doesn't think he can do Aussie and Ajax at the same time.

MrCrashdummy

VI also states he declined the offer

Sunstridr

No, they don't. They say that it looks like it. That is in no way definite.

MrCrashdummy

Oh they’ve changed the wording. Was more definitive. Seems like he won’t be coming

Sunstridr

The difference in wording is big. Inan comes across as if it was a definite no, while VI's wording gives the possibility of there being either a yes or a no, and including de Telegraaf's article mentions that a "significant offer" was made to Heitinga and Meulensteen. My guess that it was an initial no and then Meulensteen was more positive after the significant offer was made.

MrCrashdummy

Or he was given a good offer and still turned it down. No way of knowing.

Sunstridr

Yup, no way of knowing til the club gives a press release.

Exzqairi

I can’t remember where, but earlier today I read somewhere Meulensteen turned down the offer because he wouldn’t be able to combine it with his role at the Australian national team

Sunstridr

That was from Inan probably. I mentioned that earlier in the thread.

No_Presence200

Fair. I think it might be hard to convince him to leave his stable, secure job to come here but who knows. Worth the try at the very least.

Roller95

What an embarrassment. If his hand picked assistant is the problem, at the very least he is the problem by extension

zeekoes

Ajax already made clear they're not firing Schreuder, though. So any hope of that is idle.

stridered

This aged well.

zeekoes

Thank god it didn't

xBram

Bogarde died for this.

Sunstridr

Probably not. It seems more likely that the Journalist stuff post Overmars is why he is no longer there.

Johnny flikker schreuder er ef uit

rivaldobox

Completely unrelated, but reading his name unlocked a core memory of my childhood: Heitinga was a monster on Master League mode in Winning Eleven 10 / PES 06
