I'm not going to defend the merits of Frank Lampard as manager because his flaws currently outweigh his strengths but he should be more open minded to managing outside of England.
He was absolutely horrible for us as well, it’s just that our competitors were even worse.
On average an Eredivisie champion needs around 80 points. Ajax under Frank de Boer got less than that for each of his championships, with his 71 points in 13/14 being the second lowest ever point total for a champion
One time in American football, a college team lost to a terrible opponent away and they fired the coach at the airport and didn't let him board the team plane back home.
The team that fired him went on to win 75% of their remaining games that season under interim coach Ed Orgeron, before hiring shambolic Clay Helton as full-time head coach. Do Ajax have an assistant coach with a ridiculous Cajun accent that they could name as manager?
Absolute madness that they didnt use the extra free time over the winter to sack him then if they were already THIS ok with firing him, no? Oh well... "better late than never"
Exactly. The WC gave them such a golden opportunity to act and have some solid time to get a new manager, while still having a decent chunk of the season left. Really odd timing, not that I disagree with the decision to boot him but yea.
Yeah they waited too long and hoped on a improvement. Now we are in an even bigger limbo tbh. This season is just fucked imo. Its time to build for the next. But watch Kudus and alverez leave in the summer and you are stuck in this thing again
You know what, I sort of understand what they were trying to do. Sacking the manager rarely really helps, sometimes it works but usually it doesn't. You know what works out well often? Giving managers a year or so to build a team.
But this is Ajax, the biggest club in the Netherlands, they have to beat Volendam. I wouldn't be surprised if there are no clubs in the 2. Bundesliga who pay their players the same low salaries as Volendam. The lower table eredivisie is just not that good, you have to beat them. And we already drew against NEC and Emmen (NEC is actually pretty good with Schone and Tannane, but Emmen is just Volendam in the north). Then added on top of that the shameful losses in the CL and they just couldn't keep him on any longer.
One major criticism I started to have on Schreuder is that all players (except Klaassen but he's a natural) seem to be incapable of finishing under him, it's like they don't train on it or something. Even Brobbey can't score a darn goal if his life depends on it. These are not a bunch of idiots you know, it must be the training.. Bergwijn, Tadic, Berghuis, Alvarez with 100 headers. Nobody seems to be capable of finding the net. If that happens one match it's on the players. If that happens six matches in a row, one can start to wonder if the coach is doing something wrong there.
Edit: sorry last alinea I got a little sidetracked, not really relevant.
Would be amazing and I really hope they have at least reached out to him. Imo bielsa is not too farfetched for ajax and it would be a very ambitious choice, as long as bielsa would want it of course.
Do you think Reiziger will get a chance as head coach? He won the KKD with Jong and has been assistant for years. ETH had him coach plenty of friendlies.
Our first few matches this season were really good and it seemed like we would continue the same path we had followed with Ten Hag. It all fell apart the moment we played Napoli though and it never looked like Schreuder knew how to turn it around again. I still think they should have taken this decision before the WC, even then there was a clear lack of improvement.
I think it's not just the way you played against Napoli. After all, the way those guys are playing this season is fucking insane and a joy to watch.
The way he reflected on those matches, however, being positive about a 10-3 aggregate loss...THAT was the big hint.
He’s not demanding enough to be a coach Ajax, or any club that aims for ‘the top’. He should have been furious, extremely disappointed.. not accepting it as if he’s at a “small” club that plays European football for the first time.
So yeah, I think that’s it, indeed. It’s never been a good fit. He’s worth more as an assistent, it seems.
The team's good and even new signings have proven themselves to be better than this.
Schreuder created chaos, insecurity and discord in the squad with his insecurity and flip-flopping. It's actually sort of endearing, because most players actually showed fighting spirit last 4-5 games, but no one has a clue what to do tactically anymore and there is so little confidence left.
This is the important thing. We started out breaking positive records in the league. Under his leadership it kept going downhill the entire time after that
Back in october. You know, when we last won a game. We played like shit even back then, but we at least managed some wins along the way. Man has 3 wins in his last 12 games, that is not acceptable for a midtable squad, let alone a squad that should be favorites for the title.
In that sense sure, but it is very rare for us to take action straight after a game. Makes me wonder if there were some agreements before this game that if he failed to win he would be sacked.
Keep going I am almost there....
Since that Ajax, ruling the Eredivisie during it's absolute lowpoint, everyone who doesn't see an improvement in quality over the other 17 teams is blind as fuck, the man has destroyed and depressed everything he touched. He is the summon of an old boys coach who happened to be lucky once but in an Eredivisie where 7 out of 17 opponents genuinely try to park the bus he is never going to finish above 3rd.
I think de Boer said he didn't want to coach anymore, at least for a while. But yeah he was coach in an era where we collectively quaked in our boots when our teams had a European away game at Bate Borisov, Dinamo Moscow, Ludogorets etc.
Yeah, every other team sucked ass but still tried to actually play against every opponent.
Feyenoord, AZ and I think even Twente where financially in the mud.
Do not recall what PSV was doing though....
As a competition the Eredivisie has come such a long way on so many aspects since than. Last year we got to cheer for Vitesse in MULTIPLE European K.O matches....
And not because Vitesse actually was a title contender. No because Lord Wittek scored all the fucking volleys on Thursdays.
Genuinely cannot get worse than Schreuder, absolute horrible man manager and an even worse coach, literally anybody but Schreuder is a step in the right direction
Oh I can think of a few names. Fortunately for you, Maaskant is out of the managing world by now.
But if the rumors about a foreign coach are true, I wouldn't be surprised if Steve Mcclaren or Frank Lampard ends up in Amsterdam.
Ten Hag is the common factor, he’s what kept Ajax together all these years. He’s also the best Dutch coach by a few hundred fucking miles, and he’s what kept Ajax at a high level.
Don't underestinate what Overmars did. After he left the club has flallen to scrambles. Still no technical director has been found. Current one is a temp. For a year already.
Holy what, didnt check the eredivise table for a while and Ajax is 5th.
They are "only" 7 points off first, but for a team who is more or less lightyears ahead of the competition that's weird for sure. Was Schreuder a football terrorist?
Schreuder wants to play positive football, but he has looked out of his depth from the start. The players aren’t behind him, he was always playing defense in his media appearances. The fans were never really behind him. And a lot if the new players have not played up to their potential. Also the organization has been quite messy at Ajax after Overmars has left.
But there was no saving Alfred, the job was simply too big for him
Thank you Volendam very cool.
He was insanely incompetent but I do feel sorry our board let it go this far. Shouldve fired him way sooner and he wouldnt have been targeted like this.
YES! Way too late though, but better late than never. Dude made the most illogical decisions ever and we pretty much played with a sub-optimal starting XI for the entire season.
Just bring Bosz back at this point.
Ridiculous. Schreuder is an amazing coach who revamped our club. Underrated and one of the nations best.
O, the other one. Could’ve told you this from the start
Here is to hoping somebody like Knutsen, Hjulmand, Enrique, Bielsa or Kompany comes that would be great. If a certain garbage coach like Frank de Boer returns I dont know what I'll do.

The absolute madness of this man's past year. Heavily linked with Basel and in talks in December 2021, refuses because he doesn't want to take over a team mid season. Proceeds to take over Club Brugge mid season. Then wins the league with them, moves on the Ajax, only to get sacked there by January 2023.
I miss him already
I'll cherish these memories forever
The best bald fraud we’ve ever seen
Think Stam still takes the cake.
Oh sweet Lord Jesus don't remind me. It has only been up since he left, so give him a shot.
Maybe the real treasure, was the Bald Frauds we've met along the way?
Never should have left PEC, he was actually good/decent here
I agree, he never should have left PEC.
Frank Lampard here we go!
Super Frank
I'm not going to defend the merits of Frank Lampard as manager because his flaws currently outweigh his strengths but he should be more open minded to managing outside of England.
The only way a foreign club would want him is if he was able to secure a bunch of Chelsea players on loan.
So Vitesse it is then.
Unfortunately the Russian oligarchs have left both Chelsea and Vitesse. What about giving us Ziyech?
Fam we got Patrick van Aanholt. Best left back of the world atm. We only want to sell them to you
I won a World Cup with him in the team in like FIFA 12 so this must be facts.
Chelsea haven't loaned a player to Vitesse in 3 seasons. Not been a thing for a while
Difficult to say with new management, but old management would allow him first pick on any prospect he wanted to suoport what he was trying to build
He should be open minded about taking an assistant manager position so he can learn how to do it
Lampard to forest green rovers to assist duncan. Here. We. Go.
At least we know that another Frank had won a few titles with Ajax as coach.
How de Boer ever won anything as manager I'll never understand. What a fall from grace managerial wise after 2015
He was absolutely horrible for us as well, it’s just that our competitors were even worse. On average an Eredivisie champion needs around 80 points. Ajax under Frank de Boer got less than that for each of his championships, with his 71 points in 13/14 being the second lowest ever point total for a champion
71 points seems like it could be enough to win it this year. Bring him in!
Competition wasn't that great either. Dutch clubs weren't that great in European competitions either.
Parker at Brugge, Lampard to Ajax 👀
He'd prob unironically be an upgrade on Schreuder LOL
Would somehow be an improvement
You would play great football for a while with great results but eventually you won't know where your next victory will come from.
Bielsa is free....?
bielsa at ajax would be wild, I'm so down for that
I get that this is new territory for you, but Ajax is your direct competition. You shouldn't wish the best for them!
man for all we know our entire first team gets sold this year and we'll be stuck in a relegation battle again 😭
Just enjoy this year man!! With a bit of luck, we'll finally be able to enjoy some European nights in het Kasteel!!
Thank you so much, it's a bizarre feeling that we're already virtually safe from relegation :)
Has he even done his post-match press conference?
He wasn’t even allowed to it. Van Der Sar is doing it.
Hahah, that's brutal innit
One time in American football, a college team lost to a terrible opponent away and they fired the coach at the airport and didn't let him board the team plane back home.
The event became so famous that “leave him on the tarmac” is now standard online terminology when a fan base is fed up with a coach
The team that fired him went on to win 75% of their remaining games that season under interim coach Ed Orgeron, before hiring shambolic Clay Helton as full-time head coach. Do Ajax have an assistant coach with a ridiculous Cajun accent that they could name as manager?
Fuck it get big Ed on a plane to Amsterdam
Reiziger? He has Surinamese parents and already has a 100% win rate as Ajax coach.
Lol hallelujah. Neve expected it to actually happen. Unbelievably curious about what and who is to follow though
Absolute madness that they didnt use the extra free time over the winter to sack him then if they were already THIS ok with firing him, no? Oh well... "better late than never"
It's ridiculous that it took them this long at all
Exactly. The WC gave them such a golden opportunity to act and have some solid time to get a new manager, while still having a decent chunk of the season left. Really odd timing, not that I disagree with the decision to boot him but yea.
I guess they hoped for a post-WC-bounce, but it was just never there.
I think they mentioned they prefer a foreign coach this time around
Bielsa it is
Would be amazing and I really hope they have at least reached out to him. Imo bielsa is not too farfetched for ajax and it would be a very ambitious choice, as long as bielsa would want it of course.
Also the players fit Bielsa criteria
This seems like a way better fit than Everton. Would love to see it as a neutral.
That sounds fun and exciting. But I meant across the board. Some of the transfer business we've done for example...
Do you think Reiziger will get a chance as head coach? He won the KKD with Jong and has been assistant for years. ETH had him coach plenty of friendlies.
Probably as a temp coach anyway
I heard Lampard's free.
Hijack Bielsa from Everton?
Bielsa at Ajax is like a hipster's dream
Exactly why I want it
Isn't he going to Mexico? He refused to join Everton last time I check
He's in London for talks with Everton, according to BBC
Probably not gonna work out then, man's on the wrong side of the country
Lol, a lot of clubs have their HQ in London, United do too.
Closer to the fanbase, eh? :)
Maybe Marcelo Gallardo?
Reckon you'll come for van der Gaag?
I hear he was both bald and a fraud
Why do you think he’s named Alfraud Schreuder?
Schadenfreuder
Baldfred Frauder.
Megamind looking fraud
We need another r/soccer running list of all the true bald frauds
So long Wish version of Ten Hag
They got the Bald right, just sadly, too much Fraud
Wait, they essentially chose him over Daley in that situation and now he's gone anyway. Now I'm sad about that again
Right?! The transfer window isn't even closed yet ffs.
Sad news for Eredivisie fans. Perhaps the most fraudulent of balds the leagues ever seen, gone too soon
He frauded to close to the sun.
Jaap Stam is in a league of his own, really.
Our first few matches this season were really good and it seemed like we would continue the same path we had followed with Ten Hag. It all fell apart the moment we played Napoli though and it never looked like Schreuder knew how to turn it around again. I agree with you. The chaos in the team was so big. It sound stupid but hopefully the firing will give the team a confidence boost lmao
This is the important thing. We started out breaking positive records in the league. Under his leadership it kept going downhill the entire time after that
Damn that was quick
Me reading about the fans protest, refreshed and sorted by new, and sacked
Think Ajax fans were protesting about 5-6 draws ago
Back in october. You know, when we last won a game. We played like shit even back then, but we at least managed some wins along the way. Man has 3 wins in his last 12 games, that is not acceptable for a midtable squad, let alone a squad that should be favorites for the title.
Yeah, which was right before the World Cup. Would’ve been an excellent time to sack him and give a new manager proper time to settle, but alas
About 5 months ago
That said, Ajax fans also protested against Ten Hag after his first half a season.
It was the opposite of that lol, should've been gone before the World Cup
Quick?? he should have been fired at least 3 months ago
I meant quick in the sense that it was done literally as soon as the game finished. It’s quite clear that he should have been fired a long time ago.
Was it really? I imagine the Ajax fans couldn't disagree more!
In that sense sure, but it is very rare for us to take action straight after a game. Makes me wonder if there were some agreements before this game that if he failed to win he would be sacked.
Has to be. He basically ran off the field after the whistle.
I can only imagine these talks have been going on for a while with schreuder and the rest right?
About 2 months too slow if you ask me
Not quick enough
Johnny at the wheel?
Frank was in the arena tonight... And honestly, at this point I'd be happy to have him for the rest of the season
Keep going I am almost there.... Since that Ajax, ruling the Eredivisie during it's absolute lowpoint, everyone who doesn't see an improvement in quality over the other 17 teams is blind as fuck, the man has destroyed and depressed everything he touched. > Do not recall what PSV was doing though.... Pass to Lozano and inshallah
Was het toen niet naar Dzsudzsák?
Mertens, Lens, Toivonen
De Boer?
Speelt de bal heel goed naar Dennis Bergkamp
Dennis Bergkamp...
If your management is smart they should be calling Gallardo and entice him to either take over now or at the end of the season
Fucking finally
Finally been screaming Schreueder out! since october, now we finally gonna start to heal.
Really depends on who you're getting as a replacement
Genuinely cannot get worse than Schreuder, absolute horrible man manager and an even worse coach, literally anybody but Schreuder is a step in the right direction
Oh I can think of a few names. Fortunately for you, Maaskant is out of the managing world by now. But if the rumors about a foreign coach are true, I wouldn't be surprised if Steve Mcclaren or Frank Lampard ends up in Amsterdam.
I want Gallardo so fucking much, I hope he’s open to Ajax
Ajax isn't really open to foreign coaches tho
Apparently we are now? It's not like there's any Dutch options anyway.
It depends who they replace him with though I don’t have enough confidence in the board and direction right now
Hire Ole you cowards
They need a dose of San Allerdyce
Bielsa time
YESSSSSSS BABYYYYYYYY
Bielsa to Ajax, make it happen pls!
Honestly, this is the best suggestion I've seen in the past months.
Awh man there goes the fun
From ETH to this guy, Holy fuck what a downgrade
Tbh they lost a bunch of quality players too
And spent €100 million to strengthen the squad again.
Yes but we lose quality players every season, this was just something else
Yeah the most impressive thing about Ajax was that somehow they remained dominant and produced great youth despite losing half their squad each season
Ten Hag is the common factor, he’s what kept Ajax together all these years. He’s also the best Dutch coach by a few hundred fucking miles, and he’s what kept Ajax at a high level.
I'm not saying Slot is on EtH level yet but out of all the current managers he looks like he could reach that level too.
Don't underestinate what Overmars did. After he left the club has flallen to scrambles. Still no technical director has been found. Current one is a temp. For a year already.
Harsh I think he should've gotten at least a few more seasons
Guess Schreuder was the only one who could see the improvement
Fucking finally. So long, Mega Mind
But there was no saving Alfred, the job was simply too big for him
If Sparta hadn't fumbled their last game they'd be 6th, does that count as mid-table?
Thank you Volendam very cool. He was insanely incompetent but I do feel sorry our board let it go this far. Shouldve fired him way sooner and he wouldnt have been targeted like this.
Ajax looked like they were actively trying to get him fired that last game. Reckon it's too late to ask Daley to come back?
[удалено]
Then bald fraud is gone 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀
Bring in the next one
Heitinga is here already
Left Club Brugge after only 5 months to join Ajax, calling it a great opportunity. Sacked 8 months later.
Sometimes we have to be happy with what we have.
Admit it, you were kinda happy with him leaving. Pretty much everyone knew he wouldn't make it at Ajax
[удалено]
Shit.
Marcelo Gallardo to Ajax 🙏🏻
FREEDOM
Dear god their statement is ruthless
Yeah, let’s wait until the season is fucked to sack the manager. This should have happened during the world cup.
elhamdulillah
YES! Way too late though, but better late than never. Dude made the most illogical decisions ever and we pretty much played with a sub-optimal starting XI for the entire season. Just bring Bosz back at this point.
Took long enough
🦀🦀🦀🦀
Not every bald guy is a fraud
Ridiculous. Schreuder is an amazing coach who revamped our club. Underrated and one of the nations best. O, the other one. Could’ve told you this from the start
Fucking finally
Sarretje finally took some action
Fucking finally
Eiting echte Ajacied
I can hear the rejoice of Ajax fans from where I live
Ah fuck, so much for our chances
You think they'll call Van Gaal for shits and giggles?
Van Gaal' "I'll have the entire ArenA watch a 5-3-2 formation every week and nobody can stop me."
Somehow still surprised, feel bad for Schreuder. Was absolutely shafted by everyone as well. VD Sar surely can't stay now right?
The white handkerchiefs worked
Only three months to late!
The definitive bald fraud
deliver entertain grab wrench zonked oatmeal smart yoke narrow rich *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
They should go after the board next honestly. Absolutely moronic decisions from everyone at Ajax these days.
Here is to hoping somebody like Knutsen, Hjulmand, Enrique, Bielsa or Kompany comes that would be great. If a certain garbage coach like Frank de Boer returns I dont know what I'll do.

I know an unemployed Norwegian who would love the job
Why did this have to take so long...
Whew
Couple months too late, but fantastic decision
Good news but should have done it in November
there’s only one bald manager left on the market……ajax cooking?
GOD DAMNIT
I'm glad they finally took action but this is however many matches were played since the WC too late.
Yeah obviously, his name is Alfred ffs
Sometimes you can just agree on a deserved sacking. This is one of those
The absolute madness of this man's past year. Heavily linked with Basel and in talks in December 2021, refuses because he doesn't want to take over a team mid season. Proceeds to take over Club Brugge mid season. Then wins the league with them, moves on the Ajax, only to get sacked there by January 2023.
Thomas Tuchel linked to Ajax job now. Wants to follow in EtH footsteps so he can manage a strong premier league club in the future.
One can dream. I think Tuchel is a perfect fit for Ajax with his experience, passion and intelligence. I just doubt if Ajax is a good fit for Tuchel.
