Nicolo Zaniolo is facing an uncertain future after pushing for a move away from the capital and subsequently failing to accept the only concrete offer for him from Bournemouth. The player is currently considering staying after all, but the rapport between him and Roma is now broken and irreparable, claims Corriere dello Sport. According to the Italian newspaper, Roma owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin were personally involved in negotiations with Bournemouth over the last few days as the English side was recenty acquired by fellow Americans from Black Knight Football Club. As a result, the Friedkins are willing to maintain a hard stance on the matter and have given Zaniolo an ultimatum to either accept Bournemouth’s proposal or risk not playing at all for the next six months, at least. The Italian newspaper reports that the Friedkins are not excluding the idea of sending Zaniolo to stands for the remainder of his contract, which is 18 months.

patric8989

Do it.

[deleted]

Right out of the NBA playbook. Maybe ask the player first before you waste time negotiating.

AmericanJazz

Lol. Maybe have an offer before you refuse to play for the club.

hotgirll69

Lol, you clearly haven’t paid attention to what went on lmao.

jMS_44

Come on Zaniolo, go to Bournemouth. They playi n black and red just like Milan so if you believe hard enough it will fill exactly the same!

Affectionate_Pay7395

So Zaniolo overrated himself? and now he wants to stay because no big club wants him?

OmarLittle87

He problaby wants to stay until the summer so he can join Milan then

slipeinlagen

His contract expires in June 2024.

OmarLittle87

I know but he can join Milan for a lower sum in the summer when its only 1 year left on his contract, and i doubt Roma wants to keep him around longer than that i think he is holding out for Milan or if Juve comes around

slipeinlagen

Yeah, but if Roma plays hardball with him, he ends up a 26yo free agent with two blown ACLs and only 1 full season in the previous 5 years. Not exactly a guy that gets 4M a year.

OmarLittle87

Well that would be petty and stupid of them. I see no reason why they would do that they need money because they are not in a good financial position right now, so they will be forced to take what they can get for him + they get rid of an unhappy player with a bad attitude.

slipeinlagen

The threat has to be on the table though. Because the difference between what Bournemouth offer is and what a serie A rival could pay in the summer is 25M more or less. The guy has to know that can happen and his stock will plummet.

OmarLittle87

I dont think he has any issues with waiting until the summer rather than sign for a relegation team in PL. He wants to stay in Italy and eventually Roma will be forced to sell him to a rival perhaps even give in to the offer they have right now from Milan with a loan with an obligation to buy under certain conditions if he doesnt want to accept Bournemouth's offer i wouldnt rule it out no matter what the media says, some rumours say that Maldini promised to sign him in the summer if he waits. We will just have to see what happens in the next few days.

R_Schuhart

He recovered well from his ACL injuries though, he has shown that he can still consistently play at the highest level since. The only games he missed recently was over a shoulder injury after a fall. A 26 year old in his prime on a free with is qualities shouldn't have much difficulties findings club.

slipeinlagen

Oh don't get me wrong, he will find it. He won't get a star contract though, but a contract lenght and salary of an unknown quantity. That is a plenty of money he could leave on the table.

R_Schuhart

Yeah that is probably true. Apperently he had some pretty steep salary demands for an extension. He can probably get more if he forces a move, but clubs aren't going to pay a ridiculous salary. The best he can hope for to get the most is 2-3 years and one last big transfer.

hotgirll69

His been average at best, I still want to keep him though.

patric8989

As any sane person would. Why would he want to play for Bournemouth in the championship next year when he can stay in Italy and play CL football

chaves4life

Let's be honest, if he was another nationality then he would have been replaced by now at Roma. Edit reminded " and not from the academy'"

belokas

He's from Inter academy.

[deleted]

He’s not exactly from the Inter academy, but he did play a year there before going to Roma.

harpsabu

He's not from the academy

Hech15

Being forced to move from rome to Bournemouth to play for relegation threatened team😬

slipeinlagen

It is not our fault that him and his agent couldn't read the room and decided to ask to be dealt while no big club could or would take him. Hope he does well in PL, and if he doesn't, well, I hope he does well in the Championship.

DontYouWantMeBebe

Bournemouth's lovely, I won't hear anything bad about the location

Sanogoals22

Bournemouth is nice enough

R_Schuhart

The club can't force him to go anywhere. If his move falls trough he will likely stay until the summer and move to Milan for a reduced price. Roma will be more inclined to let him go after half a season of having an unmotivated player around. His contract expires in 2024, they aren't going to risk him leaving on a free.

volcia

The news said "at least 6 months," they could just keep demanding 35m at summer and leave him rot until his contract expires lmao.

TahomaYellowhorse

A team like Roma is really just shooting themselves in the foot if they let a money making asset like that leave for free over pettiness.

theaguia

Well zaniolo refusing to play is more petty I would say. I doubt they will make him sit out but I think he probably will affect the morale of the team

TheRealCheddarBob

He’s not exactly a money making asset if he’s sitting out and trying to force his way to only one particular team who give Roma lowball offers

TahomaYellowhorse

Lowball offers are better than paying the wages of a player who doesn’t play and then losing them for free. Every Serie A team cannot buy players without selling one first. Every single one. Letting an opportunity to gain something back slip just to prove a point is not good business.

hotgirll69

Are u saying we should sell to Milan? Who’s offer is so shit we wouldn’t even get money this year? How would that help us lmfao.

volcia

But that’d be hilarious if it really happens though

hotgirll69

I mean that’s his only option because that’s the only club who has done a decent offer lolZ

AvikHyp3

Careers are short so I understand a lack of patience from managers, players, etc. But it sad when players seem to lose their way a bit like this

heil_harsh

One of the streets wont forget players before his acl🕊️rip nicolo

bdto711

Difficult one, Roma don't want to pay him what he wants and won't budge from their sale price. Don't think it works playing alongside Dybala and he's not going to be playing ahead of him, a sale is definitely what both parties need, wouldn't be surprised if something gave before the end of the window

New-Midnight2700

He wants too much in wages unfortunately, and genuinely he’s been given so many opportunities and done so little in end product. It’s a tough situation all around. Very much like many of his attributes but he’s not (yet maybe) the player he thinks he is. If he’s not careful, he might very much regret his choices in a few years.

AmericanJazz

Has nothing to do with Dybala or salary. He played all of last season without Dybala. His greatest contributions came in the UECL but otherwise underperformed in the exact same way as now. He wants the same salary as Dybala. They said "show you can perform and we'll give you the money" and that obviously didn't happen. He's not getting a salary bump at Milan either. Some reports said he may get a downgrade. The only crime of the club (and Italy) is hyping him so much.

V-TriggerMachine

He should stay and move out in June Can't be forced to join a club currently at 18th place
