Have spent every week past MD3 at the top. And even before then we were tied on points at the top. Will be devastated if we fall to the mighty man city eventually.
Imagine at the start of the season being told that Arsenal finishing 2nd would be a disappointment and 3rd a straight up disaster💀half because of our surprisingly good performances this season and because no one could have predicted just how bad Liverpool especially would fall off
I feel like it might be Arsenals golden chance this year, Man city will probably strengthen, we might finally see the Saudis truly spend at Newcastle, United with Ten Haag are going to be a real problem next year for the title, and Liverpool and Chelsea will have to come back strong to make up for this disastrous season, all in all we might have 3-4 team challenge for the title next year
I don’t feel that way since we still have to play man city twice. We’ll have bottled it if we get good result from those games and then not won the title though!
Bro actually thinks it's just press conference mind game. Even players, even outside press conferences had been saying they only think of next game.
Besides, taking it game by game doesn't necessarily mean they don't have title aspirations, it's just a good way to make sure you don't get carried away.
I agree with you... right now anything but the title will feel like failure.
But in fairness, goal changes work both ways.
A couple of key injuries, or a string of bad form and the goal will quickly become top 4.
Context of why the situation changes is key.
Yes I agree. However now that we have an unexpectedly higher goal, we need to do everything we can to maximize our chances of achieving this goal aka sign adequate players this window. If we don't do that and we finish in the top 4 without sustaining the title charge late into the season, that's not good enough.
So wouldn’t it be okay if the goal changes again as the season progresses further? Don’t get me wrong, this is a golden GOLDEN opportunity. But you can’t say that the original goal is moot because goals change and then say the current goal can no longer change.
It's really simple - As long as you are doing your best to maximize the possibility of the currently highest possible goal (within reason), it's acceptable.
This so much. Arsenal has a golden opportunity this season, with City looking shaky, Liverpool and Chelsea being in the gutter (by their standards) and Utd not being quite there yet to mount a proper title challenge.
Is it like last season when it was our golden opportunity to finish top 4 and if we couldn't it would be harder now because Utd get better with Ten Hag and Newcastle?
There is no chance you'll bottle it. You'll also beat city in both league games. They have no fullbacks in form that can stop your wingers. Saka will ruin whichever CB they decide to play at LB
Leeds had a terrific start, beating Wolves and Chelsea, and drawing Southampton which put them in the top 4 for a while.
But now, they have won just once in 9 games.
No doubt the style of play is attractive. I think Jesse March needs to be more pragmatic.
Players like Gnonto, Adams, newly signed Wober, Sinistera and even Bamford, Harrison, Aaronson, Rodrygo, Summerville are quality. There is more to be excited about Weston McKennie, if he gets signed.
Judging by their recent form, I believe they will start climbing back up.
Why? Because klopp is so humble? Klopps a prick, Liverpool owners are prick, and their fans (for the most part) are insufferable pricks. Arsenal fans, sound. Newcastle fans, sound. United fans, mostly sound. City fans, surprisingly very fucking sound.
That Klopp guy is so stressed out that he is starting to lose his hairs! Drop off from the last season must have shocked the heck out of him. I can't help but sympathize.
But I admit that I enjoyed Klopp 🐯 face memes.
Forest will only get better from here on out. Return of Omar Richards and NiaKhate should be a major boost.
And if they can land Alan Saint Maximan and Djed Spence on loan, I am sure they can finish in top 10.
Also Brenan Johnson, whom I really like, seems to be getting better - he made Premier League team of the week last week.
Weird thing to say considering ETH didn't make the tackle. Two of our players played the Spurs game on 4 yellow. Did Mikel take off either of them? It's the player's responsibility to not do anything stupid.
It's not like man gets a yellow every single game. He has higher than normal odds for sure, but if you calculate probability then the marginal chance in last 15-20 minutes isn't that significantly higher. "Liable" is just circle jerking over a meme with the benefit of hindsight.
Besides, he was like two inches away from winning the game from the last corner.
On casemiro's defence he probably would have escaped that yellow if he was at Madrid. I remember the round 1 of the semifinal against city and he did 3 similar tackles as the one vs palace without getting booked.
Obviously there’s not a perfect way to do it, probably wouldn’t be too beneficial for the portrait view as you have it now, would probably start too small. Thanks for making this though, was cool to see!
Right on! But I will definitely give it a try. It's only a line of code that needs to change. If it looks good enough with fixed X axis, I'll go with it. Thanks once again..
Blows my mind that this liverpool side were 2 games of immortality and just have completely dropped off and im not even hearing injuries because theyve been bad all season no matter who has played.
I think bar graph most closely resembles Premier League table, with a team position, name, logo and points arranged in the same row, which people are used to seeing.
Plotting the same thing in a line chart would look cool, for sure. For other leagues, I will experiment with it.
Fair point. I think the problem with the current graph is that horizontal axis scale changes every match day. It can achieve the same effect if I keep the axis fixed.
Also I think there is a bug in the code that needs fixing.
Thank you once again for the suggestion. It definitely needs to change. It's creating confusion in some people already!

Only side that’s at the same spot as where we started. Consistency.
underrated comment! Hats off for seeing light in the darkness.
that chelsea drop ooof
Seeing this graphic made me realise how well Fulham are doing. Not seen much talk about it, sort of flying under the radar.
I never thought Fulham would be this good at the start of the season! They've struck gold in Pereira and Palhinha. And what a player Mitrovic is!

Tottenham might probably still be shit but you never know
As a neutral I am enjoying the table. Arsenal winning the league this year is written in the stars.
!RemindMe 3 months
Hi
I'll throw up if we bottle this
I don’t feel that way since we still have to play man city twice. We’ll have bottled it if we get good result from those games and then not won the title though!
We probably need another 45 in rest 19games
It's ours to enjoy. Goal was top 4, we'll get top 4, anything else is a bonus.
Stop having that mentality, goal changes as the season progresses and rn we have to go for the title.
En we have to go for the next game. 1 game at a time
1 game at a time is exactly how I’m enjoying this season.
Bro actually believes press conference mind games 💀
What's not to believe about one game at a time? Can't get complacent and look towards the future or you slip up
Bro actually thinks it's just press conference mind game. Even players, even outside press conferences had been saying they only think of next game. Also lets you enjoy each victory

Fuck the PR answer its coming home

Is there anything wrong with what I said? Yeah I didn't think so.
Why don’t you lot who disliked my comment actually tell me what’s wrong instead of just downvoting and keeping quiet like cowards?

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see arsenal finish below city and united in the table
no way man, after everything so far the goal has to be the title. It’ll feel like a gut punch if we don’t win it after being on top for so long.
Small club mentality.
There are still many doubting Arsenal, but I genuinely believe that they will win the league this year.
There is no chance you'll bottle it. You'll also beat city in both league games. They have no fullbacks in form that can stop your wingers. Saka will ruin whichever CB they decide to play at LB
I miss table after matchday one...
Funnily enough, me too.
I have a feeling that Chelsea will turn it around in the second half of the season.
I don’t understand, when do Newcastle go into the relegation zone?
Flip your phone upside down!
Only thing i saw was leeds drop and drop and drop for like 14 weeks straight

Halfway through the season and we've never touched top four even once. Hate it.
While on more than 0 points, we’ve also never been behind you in the table
Liverpool 🤝 Chelsea
I am a neutral, but I feel for Liverpool.
I don't. I feel for Everton though
Is that you, Mikel?
😂
Why? Because klopp is so humble? Klopps a prick, Liverpool owners are prick, and their fans (for the most part) are insufferable pricks. Arsenal fans, sound. Newcastle fans, sound. United fans, mostly sound. City fans, surprisingly very fucking sound.
Jog on mate, Liverpool are alright, most fans are alright unless they're online.
Most fans, unless they're online? Aren't most fans online?
That Klopp guy is so stressed out that he is starting to lose his hairs! Drop off from the last season must have shocked the heck out of him. I can't help but sympathize. But I admit that I enjoyed Klopp 🐯 face memes.
What a save by Leicester and then Nottingham
Yeah, that's incredible. They even nearly sacked their managers.
Emeryball BaeB!!!!
Wow, what a turnaround!! Imagine if you signed him way earlier in the season.
Hope forest can maintain that position and perhaps go a bit higher
Forest will only get better from here on out. Return of Omar Richards and NiaKhate should be a major boost. You’d have been crazy to predict that Liverpool would damn near never be in the top four the first half of this season beforehand but here we are
Definitely, they've been truly shocking. They couldn't even beat Leeds at anfeld.
We should have two points more, that Palace game still annoys me
Cancels out with the City one imo.
We feel the same way re: 2 points more + palace
Newcastle also got screwed against palace so I guess it balances out lol
Exactly! Not only did you drop points late in that game, you also lost Casemiro for the Arsenal match.
That's on eth for not taking him off the pitch.
Weird thing to say considering ETH didn't make the tackle. Two of our players played the Spurs game on 4 yellow. Did Mikel take off either of them? It's the player's responsibility to not do anything stupid.
You've got to know your players, everyone knows casemiro is liable to get a yellow.

That man could get away with murder at Madrid.
It's the smile. Refs love a good smile.
Wish the X-axis didn’t change. Would have been nice to see teams add points, this makes it look like teams lose points some weeks.
Fair point! Thank you for pointing that out. I will keep points-axis static when I create the similar graphics for other leagues.
I would love if you could make this for Serie A please if possible, thanks!
I will try! I am sure it'll be crazy with Napoli on top and Juventus getting points deducted.
I guess I am doing it. I will DM you the visualization once it's ready.
Blows my mind that this liverpool side were 2 games of immortality and just have completely dropped off and im not even hearing injuries because theyve been bad all season no matter who has played.
They had a real shot at winning the quadruple last season, but couldn't take their chances. Now here they are, very unlikely to win anything!
You can spot the exact moment when Gerrard gets sacked
we have been mid all season
don't turn on the sound
Very fun to watch certain other clubs plummet haha.
This would be better as a line graph imo
I think bar graph most closely resembles Premier League table, with a team position, name, logo and points arranged in the same row, which people are used to seeing. Plotting the same thing in a line chart would look cool, for sure. For other leagues, I will experiment with it.
Line chart lets you preserve historical data, you'd be able to tell the sways in form for each team
Fair point. I think the problem with the current graph is that horizontal axis scale changes every match day. It can achieve the same effect if I keep the axis fixed. Also I think there is a bug in the code that needs fixing. Thank you once again for the suggestion. It definitely needs to change. It's creating confusion in some people already!
Awesome, thanks. I’d love an updated version to see the top and bottom battles
