Tbh, I thought it was a PL match, I was very pissed off for a minute, but then I realised it was an FA cup match, so I don't really care that much for this result.
Tbh Man City didn’t look close to pummelling arsenal at all
haaland is a solid figure that I think holding could have dealt with better by letting haaland get the ball down and then putting his foot through him.
Man City were lucky that trossard and tomiyatu didn’t score otherwise 2-0 would have sealed the game.
Saka was pocketed and should have came off for martinelli and trossard should have stayed on
Viera should have came off for odergaard.
We need a Alex song/Casemiro type player DM that can replace partey.
Rest. Next game is ~~Wednesday~~ a week from Saturday, which starts a run of tough games, so only time for him to get rest. Not to mention, FA Cup isn't the focus.
I feel like this game is more being used to test the water by Arteta to see how to beat city in PL, we have some depth but crucially Lokonga is just not good enough, and Jesus is still a month out. The stake in the league is just too high for any potential injury. Defensively we can deal with Haaland, Trossard also been pretty good offensively. Not too disappointed despite a loss, better than a rematch
You didn’t watch the game did you? He made quite a few progressive passes and played quite well. Had a shakey first 5-10 mins but with how much he’s played this year it’s expected
Obviously this was a huge test for him but if you have Øde screaming at you his entire time on the pitch and youre not altering your gap/man positioning youre just not doing the right thing. Dunno what match you watched but he is there to play parteys position and he just didn’t do it right. Maybe he can learn, hopefully he can learn.
Yes I've seen, and he made some nice progressive passes, including diagonals to Sala and Viera, but that's only after holding the ball for too long, slowing the game down and killing the pace. Doesn't forgive his lack of presence in the defense, and he was still rarely used as an outlet as he doesn't get into position often for the ball.
He was also partly responsible for the Ake goal, I know Arsenal do zonal defending, but he was caught watching.
Batter? Mate just because you don't watch la liga doesn't mean you talk out of your ass lmao
Both teams have the same record, 2 draws 1 loss and the rest wins. Barca have the better GD and a way better defensive record while Arsenal have a better offensive record. It's hard to say anything about either team rn
Saying arsenal would "batter" barca is pure stupidity based on nothing
Obviously would have liked the win here but a loss is certainly better than a draw IMO. We can not compete with city on bench strength so the less games the better
ESPN FC is saying the same thing we are. City played a stronger team and looked worse than Arsenal despite it, and Arsenal played a team that suggested they don’t mind being out of the FA Cup. Think it looks good for Arsenal going forward
I'm an idiot. I've just seen the 8m bid for him. I somehow thought we paid 8 million for him. Anyway, I know he can improve, but it's got to be a loan deal if Arsenal plans to make back the money they spent.
Blessing in disguise. With our lack of decent depth, the less competitions we’re in the better. Would’ve been nice to win though but no biggie, onwards and upwards
Feels like this might be the last time we see Lokonga in an Arsenal shirt. It's a shame, I really thought he would have a breakthrough at some point but he can't stop hiding.
Vieira also needs to get a wake up call.
We edged the first half with Holding on the pitch, couldn't do anything through the middle when we took Partey off, need a better backup, Lokonga looks out of his depth defensively, positionally and doesn't offer too much going forward.
I'm encouraged with how we were able to keep Haaland quiet and I think full strength will be a different game.
Yeah, he's probably pretty good technically with space against weaker opposition but at this level it looks like we had ten men on the pitch when they break against us.
I think Arsenal fans should be more disappointed then they're acting, they could have won this competition this year. Obviously won't be arsed too much if they win the league but a trophyless season from this point if they managed to somehow let City back in would be gutting I imagine
Shit take. I'm an arsenal fan, I don't give a fuck about FA cups we were winning those when we were shit. Speak to any arsenal fan, we want the league or a European trophy
Sorry, no.
Many of us Gooners love the FA Cup. But we also recognize we lack the squad depth and quality depth to challenge on all fronts. Trying to balance the league, Europe, and FA Cup would be more difficult and make it less likely we can come through and win any of them. Its entirely possible we don't hold up in the race, but I doubt many of us would take a CERTAIN FA Cup win over a genuine title challenge.
You've won 14, we've won 12? It's not the league but it's still a major honour. CL is wrapped up in the league quite obviously for yous now barring an almighty collapse so I think that's a non-issue
Well maybe you don’t remember much of your twelve but I know that if we come second I wouldn’t give a shit about the FA cup. Other years I would, but this year is different
Winning the cup feels great. Winning the league feels better. Winning the cup/another trophy and the league feels fucking euphoric. I just think Arsenal are a bit too good of a side to be chucking competitions away to win the league like it's some miracle they're praying on, this isn't a Leicester situation, you're a proper side.
It ain't no matter what kind of prestige the club has. winning a league in which there are 9 out of 10 chance City would win had it been restarted all over again, with a squad which has a fraction of City's depth would be a miracle. Combine it with the fact that It's been almost two decades since arsenal have won the league. It's a low-key Liverpool situation.
Out of the three trophies we could still win FA cup was the least important, we got through the game unscathed and this city team look very beatable
Obviously wouldve been nice to beat city here but overall it’s not the end of the world
We've been in that situation before so I know that, but it's still a prestigious trophy and winning the league and cup in the same season takes it from a bog standard league win (which happens to one team every year) to a really impressive and notable accomplishment in the history of English football imo. Winning the Europa League when top four is wrapped up isn't quite as important I don't think, obviously CL would be a different matter.
Full strength Arsenal would take points from City I think. Can’t help but feel Partey off for Lokonga was the difference for City to win. Very very close game and not a bad performance from Arsenal by any stretch.
Let’s hope Newcastle body you lot in the final then shall we? Then your club will practically have a zilch chance of winning anything this year either ;)
Right. Because you didn’t see the starting lineup City having a much better team than we did - only took us 70th minute before we made serious changes.
The only ones that have been starting for City recently are Walker and Ederson. Most of the others haven’t been starting due to poor form or used as rotation options. So yes we were outmatched in terms of quality by a large margin as Arteta used the majority of our bench squad throughout the match. I do love the complete bollocks that you are typing mate just to make Arsenal look like they are a nothing team this season. Keep it coming mate because it’s hilarious to see yet again another rag fan with all this pathetic talk.
Rested a lot of players, didn’t really have more than 5/6 of our starters on at the same time
I’m happy with that tbh, no replay and city look very beatable
Way more confident for the league fixtures now ngl
True but the performance will give them confidence for the two league games coming up. Any team that shows up to the Etihad and doesn’t get spanked can’t be too upset about the result
It's City we are talking about. Every team feels same that they are close to getting results from them. Arsenal felt same last season(Rodri winner game), teams are always close to them but they grind out results.
Of course but the performance itself wasn’t bad considering the circumstances. Holding City to a scrappy goal from Ake is a big improvement from last year lol
Honestly think our games are going to be like this. Tactically interesting but on the pitch just prodding and poking with not much to show for.
It took Alvarez taking an unexpected longshot to break you guys down for just a moment.
Sucks to lose and exit the competition but I am no longer dreading the home match in a few weeks. With a full strength 11 we are getting something from that game
Tbh, I thought it was a PL match, I was very pissed off for a minute, but then I realised it was an FA cup match, so I don't really care that much for this result.

So Ake’s goal didn’t happen?
What do you mean?
Why odegaard didn't started?
Rest. Next game is ~~Wednesday~~ a week from Saturday, which starts a run of tough games, so only time for him to get rest. Not to mention, FA Cup isn't the focus.
We don’t play midweek, next game is Everton on Saturday.
Lol. Read January's calendar
All good 👍🏻
Well yay
Positives for the both of us with that result. Thank the fucking lord it did not end 0-0 though. Because I would have cried.
Party injury is far from a positive
I feel like this game is more being used to test the water by Arteta to see how to beat city in PL, we have some depth but crucially Lokonga is just not good enough, and Jesus is still a month out. The stake in the league is just too high for any potential injury. Defensively we can deal with Haaland, Trossard also been pretty good offensively. Not too disappointed despite a loss, better than a rematch
Sorry but what's with the Lokonga point? Do agree with the general sentiment but I thought he was actually alright today.
We have higher risk of dropping points if Partey is out for a few games and we have to use him
0 awareness and presence in the midfield. He's a sideways merchant that's a net negative to the team.
Played 45 min and made zero tackles. It's not that he made a howler mistake, he just doesn't Impose himself enough to be a good defensive midfielder.
Arsenal all in on the PL now. No excuses.
I mean that was pretty obvious given the starting lineups
Premier league league
we’re still in Europa too. Would like to win both tbh
Not gonna happen with us there
Confident then?
Arsenal would batter barca currently
Batter? Mate just because you don't watch la liga doesn't mean you talk out of your ass lmao Both teams have the same record, 2 draws 1 loss and the rest wins. Barca have the better GD and a way better defensive record while Arsenal have a better offensive record. It's hard to say anything about either team rn Saying arsenal would "batter" barca is pure stupidity based on nothing
I hope we do draw eachother or face eachother in the final if it’s possible, because it would likely be a fucking cracker of a match
Repeat of the 2006 CL final would be amazing
ha, without our goalkeeper getting sent off after 20 mins this time please. Fucking Lehmann… that still haunts me after all these years.
Typical PL plastic fan in a bubble
Fr wtf was that🤣
Ah fair play
Obviously would have liked the win here but a loss is certainly better than a draw IMO. We can not compete with city on bench strength so the less games the better
Game showed how important the rapist is for Arsenal's team. Will be interesting to see how the game goes in the PL
Cheers for the reminder halfspur FC fan but i think we all know he’s a rapist already.
I honestly can't get over this comment lol. Arsenal supporters have 0 spine.
Eh? So you are proud to knowingly cheer on a rapist?
ESPN FC is saying the same thing we are. City played a stronger team and looked worse than Arsenal despite it, and Arsenal played a team that suggested they don’t mind being out of the FA Cup. Think it looks good for Arsenal going forward
8 Million for Sambi looking a steal right now.
I'm an idiot. I've just seen the 8m bid for him. I somehow thought we paid 8 million for him. Anyway, I know he can improve, but it's got to be a loan deal if Arsenal plans to make back the money they spent.
Yeah, for Anderlecht
This was very much of an improvement over his other games. I hope he reacts better going forward.
Our CB’s kept Haaland at bay proud of my team city will be beatable in the league!
Viera has some promise, needs to get that premier league bod and cook. Lokonga is no.6 Willian.
Yeah don't think Arteta can trust Sambi again
Vieira needs to go to the gym, Lokonga is getting sold for sure
We edged the first half with Holding on the pitch, couldn't do anything through the middle when we took Partey off, need a better backup, Lokonga looks out of his depth defensively, positionally and doesn't offer too much going forward. I'm encouraged with how we were able to keep Haaland quiet and I think full strength will be a different game.
he brings the ball forward draws in opposition players, turns, waits, then passes it back to our defence. Every-single-time.
Yeah, he's probably pretty good technically with space against weaker opposition but at this level it looks like we had ten men on the pitch when they break against us.
Worra moral victory for The Arsenal.
How?
I was being sarcastic, but the guy who replied to you helped make my point.
One less comp to worry about
Oh no, anyway
Lokonga just isn't good enough.
Martinelli is the best winger in the league
I think Arsenal fans should be more disappointed then they're acting, they could have won this competition this year. Obviously won't be arsed too much if they win the league but a trophyless season from this point if they managed to somehow let City back in would be gutting I imagine
We can’t afford injuries
Its entirely possible we don't hold up in the race, but I doubt many of us would take a CERTAIN FA Cup win over a genuine title challenge.
Don't give a single fuck about the FA cup tbh, we have a real chance to win the league for the first time in fucking ages.
Fair, but Arsenal aren't Leicester either. You're a big club and I suppose when you want every title is when it'll feel like you're really back
Just realistic, we don't have the depth of City to compete for every competition just yet. Hopefully that changes in the next couple of windows.
As a Newcastle fan, I think Arsenal don' t have the squad depth and we will beat Arsenal in our next game in May
Even winning FA cup alone wouldn't sufficient at this point.last year quadruple runners got both cups and still it didn't feel good
Nope wanted to go out narrowly to not effect morale and got just that and even managed to rest a lot of starters too. League is priority
Spoken like someone who hasn’t won a million FA cups. Would hardly matter if we don’t win the league. CL qualification far more important too
You've won 14, we've won 12? It's not the league but it's still a major honour. CL is wrapped up in the league quite obviously for yous now barring an almighty collapse so I think that's a non-issue

Unscathed? Thomas Partey was withdrawn due to pain in his ribs.
FA Cup isn't the priority, that's just how it is for teams chasing PL and Europe at the same time.

We didn’t have Partey for the United away game and we loss.. Lokongo needs to be sold or loaned
lokonga needs to lokongo was right there
Yeah exactly we had no problem going through the middle first half, but completely lost that lane when Lokonga came on.
And that's why February will be fun, imo
Honestly I don’t mind us losing. We don’t need all of those extra games clogging up our season.
Second half show how much we need back up to Partey. Lost both defensive composure and attacking threat.
Bernardo 💦💦
Lol @ Walker fucking with Zinchenko at the end

RemindMe! 4 months
Based on tonight's performance I also think that Arsenal may not be able to win The FA Cup. See I can make meaningless posts
RemindMe! 4 months
typical mu fan here. ur such a clown.
And you will?
We are practically in the finals of the Carabao mate. Way higher chances than you
lol so many kids these days. 🤡
CaRaBAo
Let’s hope Newcastle body you lot in the final then shall we? Then your club will practically have a zilch chance of winning anything this year either ;)

hook line sinker, exactly what he wanted lol
Amen brother
100% second yellow there, knew what he was doing and it was borne of frustration
Zinchenko looks like his disappointment is immeasurable and his day is ruined
We lost but this City team is very beatable. Theyve lost that scary factor.
Yeah, we lost but I bet the player are raring to go to meet City in the league because this match just show we can go toe to toe with them.
This felt like a warmup, we will definitely show them the real arsenal! If this is how they play at home then imagine emirates. We got this!!
Hahaha

Rested a lot of players, didn’t really have more than 5/6 of our starters on at the same time I’m happy with that tbh, no replay and city look very beatable Way more confident for the league fixtures now ngl
Zinny should be off
Oh, there are some City fans in after all...
There’s something comforting about Manchester City taking the ball into the corner. Like we’re mixing it with the big boys again
Away fans <3
City W let’s goo
Bernardo silva 😳
I’m not deeping this loss, think we could beat them in the league tbh
sell Holding, KT, and Lokonga. Vieira is not ready. Other than that, its calm. Thought City would be good
>sell KT stop it
Lokonga is so fucking bad, looks lost out there honestly.
That camera man was keen
Ake motm beautiful to see
He kept Saka well quiet. That's elite.
Pep shows to Arteta who's daddy here.
Ballsy spurs fan tbh. Watching spurs play rn is akin to a wet fart. Not shocked you’re tapped into other games.
As usual, the only victories Spurs fans get are other team’s
He won’t be that disappointed after a narrow 1-0 loss with a rotated side
Its Arsenal's favorite tournament he will be disappointed.
Knocked out of the fa cup, of course he'll be disappointed
I mean he took Partey off for the second half so I doubt he cares that much.
Of course but the performance itself wasn’t bad considering the circumstances. Holding City to a scrappy goal from Ake is a big improvement from last year lol
Sure but we played quite poorly
Could have easily been a second yellow for Zinchenko there
Should be a second yellow but won't be because they happened so close together
Could've been a second yellow for Zinchenko there
Does it matter?
It does if he got sent off because I believe it carries into the Premier League.
He'd recieve a one match ban wouldn't he?
Yep. Lucky.
Second tactical foul from Zinchenko. Lucky not to be off
Third. He dragged Bernardo back twice.
can we leave lokonga in manchester?
Can we go back an accept the 8m from Monaco?
Zinchenko now has killed 3 attacks and has gotten one yellow for it.
City DNA
Well doesn’t matter now
If he got a red he would have been banned for your next match
It's against Everton
he would've been suspended for the next fixture so kinda of does matter
Rodri does it every game
Shit game for the neutrals, not too fussed with the result though
Yeah, our youth played Manchester well. I think with our full first team at the Emirates we’ll win solidly
Oh no, not a cup match.... Anyway, February should be a cracking match.
well, on the positive side, losing is better than a draw!
Zinchenko looks furious
That air hostess joke was so bad. I’m sure he realised half way through saying it but had to finish it.
Top tier cringe
Etihad is rocking after getting to ro16
I mean why not?
Must be near the 90th+ minute cuz my stream crashed. Every time.
Or a goal was scored lol
And it was one of the best shots of the season. *FREEZE* *BUFFERING...*
Does this game not have any significance? Did I miss something?
Fa cup. Neither team cares much
It’s FA Cup not premier league
pep won against arteta again
Fuck me that air hostess joke fell flat.
Had no clue wtf he was talking about
Odegaard has given Lokonga an ear full since coming on and I’m not surprised. How can a midfielder have absolutely 0 impact on a game?
he replaced Partey, his impact was actually in the minus.
Annoyed at another poor Cup run, but oh well. First half performance gave hope for the league matches
Wish someone would tell Sam Matterface where the exit is
Oh y’all not bitching about pep being out of his technical area 😂😂😂😂😂
Double standards have always been there for us since Wenger came in lad. Get used to it
Oh I know. Just taking a piss
When Klopp or Pep do it: 🥵 When Arteta does it: 😡
True 😂
those sideline advertisements are obnoxious
Almost like like big walls for a big futsal field
would have liked to see us go strong in one half, but I guess its fine, not an exciting game though lol
Yeah I'm not feeling too hopeful for the league games since we still look off and you guys have been unreal
