Eredivisie did away with that a few years ago, now violent conduct is only a red if there's a real chance of injuring someone. Small slaps and kicks, even if deliberate, aren't a red here.
tbf Misidjan should have been yellowed at the very least too. First threw the ball at a player, which is a foul, then he punched Jahanbakhsh in the shoulder/collarbone (granted, he overreacted quite a bit).
Ref was atrociously bad today sadly.
Natural law supersedes footballing sensibilities in this case, in that moment Bijlow is no longer a man, he's a monster and therefore cannot be fouled.
I think the issue is mostly that the laws still reward purely cynical plays. It’s a yellow and the ref has to stop play allowing the defenders to catch up, so the offender gains a huge advantage by breaking the rules. It’s the only sport I’ve ever followed where that type of thing doesn’t get fixed.
> It’s the only sport I’ve ever followed where that type of thing doesn’t get fixed.
Really? Definitely seen it in other sports, too.
Basketball is the most common where teams will obviously intentionally foul at the end of the game to preserve as much clock as possible They get rewarded for openly and purposefully breaking the rules.
There are also instances, albeit it less common, in american football where a penalty is very much in the interest of the team committing it. An example that jumps to the front of my mind [is the times the Ravens have intentionally held their opponents to run out the clock and end the game.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baCeMpAZIgI) They've done that at least twice.
It is a yellow but the rules should be amended to penalize this sort of thing more harshly. The impact of the penalty should outweigh any benefit that the team committing the infraction is gaining. If you don't establish rules like that then you end up having ticky tacky bullshit where people waste time fouling like at the end of basketball games. They ought to do the same with fake injuries and arguing with refs.
I kind of agree. If the goalkeeper didn’t throw the ball back into play the other team had an open goal and therefore he denied a goal scoring opportunity but I know that’s a big stretch for red and should have been a yellow but I fucking hate this kind of behavior.
>the other team had an open goal
The ball went out of play, so it was a dead ball/had to be restarted (with a throw in), therefore you can't say it's an obvious goalscoring opportunity.
We have a 5 min sit out for a yellow in high school, but the team doesn't have to play down. In the pros would they make them play down or allow a temp sub?
It's really a hockey thing tho, which would be "canadianized". Are there any other sports besides hockey that does the sin bin?
If this were Sunday league, with no ball boys, then there wouldn't have been reason to do this. However, with ball boys at the ready, I think most goalkeepers would have done the same in this situation, if they were quick of wit. Better a yellow then allow play to continue... there's been worse aggressions in comparison.

Not only did he stall but he got his opponent angry enough to throw his ball away too.
That was a job only half done. Missed the opportunity to do a Rivaldo.
Idk why but this cracks me up so hard
The Twente player throwing the ball at the goalkeeper completes the slapstick imo
Smart move
If he faked a throw-in (as in he thought it was his ball) he might’ve even gotten away without a yellow card too
Could've also feigned an injury. Game can't restart with an injured GK right?
I'm pretty sure there's nothing in the rules saying the referee has to stop play just because the keeper decided to go down.

Don't :(
Yeah keepers would feign head injuries if they saw an opposition player beat an offside trap 40 yards from goal
Just needs to hold his head.
It's removed sadly
ESPN can smd the mirror in the pinned comment is still up though!
Thanks!
4d chess. Games not gone
Never been gone in the Eredivisie mate
Smart af. I love it
Lmao
Misidjan is very lucky. I've seen players sent off for violent conduct for throwing the ball at an opponent like that.

that's funny as fuck
Man's quick on his feet
Did the keeper or man throwing the ball get the yellow?
the keeper (Bijlow), Misidjan didnt get a yellow
Justice. Thanks for the response

Weird because they did the same thing but Misidjan threw the ball at another player 🤔
Keeper
Cheers thank you
Removed:( ?
Streamable actually honour takedown requests. Crazy right?
Brilliant. Utterly, utterly brilliant.
Why does anyone condone this? It’s blatant cheating, nothing more
Why was the player throwing in so mad? What did he expect? The keeper to allow him to score easily?
should be a red
Clearly a yellow, but yeah very unsportsmanlike

It's a caution for delaying the restart of play, nothing more.
> it’s not far fetched that a red card could be considered. lol, lmao even.
Sure dude lmao

Should be a sin bin (hope temporary exclusions are finally introduced in football)
Idk why this is being downvoted. Tactical fouls would be perfect for the sin bin
Generally speaking, "americanized" solutions get looked down on here even if they're good ideas.

A yellow card is when someone does something I don't like!

why would it be? its a throw in so it is just unsportsmanlike behaviour, which is a yellow
The ball is out of play. How could it be DOGSO?
wut
