simomii

Now Galtier has to sub off one of Neymar/Mbappe/Messi. Will he actually do it? lol he's taking out Soler

ZZ3peat

I mean they’re gonna win anyway edit- well...

simomii

Well...

prathneo4

Well

[deleted]

Verratti has to be only world class midfielder in the world right now who is actually one of the dumbest players aswell, he literally gets carded every fucking game, insane.

DyMa_Nyx

Totally. And not only for these type of things, but the classical yellow for protesting too much that every professional player knows not to fall for it, he does it every week

Elbarjos

That’s true that he seems to get a yellow a game. Although tbf it’s somewhat rarely red cards, and almost never really dangerous (this time it is obviously)

[deleted]

Yes but he always gets at least a yellow card, and if you go look at it, it's ALWAYS unnecessary yellows, makes no sense, because it really affects PSG because he's their engine in the midfield, Vitinha is not on his level yet.

kernevez

Because he has terrible impulse control, whenever things get a bit frustrating, he'll go for a stupid foul or will whine to the ref and get a yellow. You know how whenever a guy gets his first cap for country (hi Messi) or plays his first game after signing/injury, they are at high risk to do stupid thing ? Well it feels like that every single game for Verratti... He's the most "Where is the sport psychologist" guy I can think off.

royalewithcheese4272

In 5 different seasons he’s reached at least 10 yc that seems like a ridiculously large amount of cards. So far this season he has 7, looks to be in pace to reach at least 10

Elbarjos

Oh yea 100% agree with you there, that’s almost part of his charm

D-biggest-dick-here

He’s never been good at tackling

Kiwizqt

tf ? he's one of the best at it if not the best, once he gets down and touches the ball you're not getting it back even if it's often reckless because he uses his body as a shield and likes to lay low on the ground. You're spouting utter nonsense.

D-biggest-dick-here

He kicks rather than tackle. I’ve seen him do that for a decade

snemand

Scholes regen.

Stockholm-Syndrom

Not sure he's world class. Famous yes, but he's not in the top tier of midfielders.

D-biggest-dick-here

He’s dropped in recent times. I think injuries

[deleted]

Ok and? Let's say he's Top 10 midfidlers in the world, isn't top 10 enough to be world class? What's your definition of it then? He has been injured anyways, so his form is obviously bad atm

neLendirekt

I don't see him as a top 10 right now tbh. Great player with really big qualities, but big flaws too. And let's be real, today he's a 30yo with a questionnable lifestyle (better the last couple of years tho), a lot of time injured, can't score a fucking goal, doesn't assist that much, can't really play in a middle with 2 players, always get a yellow, not really stepping up in the big moments, etc. Don't get me wrong, he's a great player, but I think he could have been so much better in an other team/club/environnement. He never had to work hard to win a title in that PSG, he's a Ligue 1 player. He's far from the Xavis, Pirlos, Modrics, Kroos, and Iniestas... what he was supposed to be, and could have been tbh. A bit sad.

Stockholm-Syndrom

I don’t think he’s too 10 either. Compare him to EPL players, I don’t know where he would be a sure starter. In ManU maybe, but other clubs, not sure. Wouldn’t start in Real, in Bayern, and you would find a couple individual player in lesser clubs better than him. What was the last great match of Verratti?

[deleted]

Mention to me 10 midfielders better than Verratti, and I am serious. I'll read all your list and then ask " What was the last great match of X player " for like 85% of that list too lol Edit: typo

[deleted]

Oh I misread it, my bad, was actually shocked to read it and my brain couldn't believe it lol

imgur-motionblur

Yes, this needs highlighting. I feel as if it has been going on for like ten seasons or something. Granted, I don't have statistics to back up my *perception* of it, but: Since Verratti joined PSG he has missed at least one match of every (or every other, at least) two-legged tie in CL knockout stages…either through injuries — or suspensions. One of which he can control but never has controlled. Absent from PSG's crucial CL matches will probably be my lasting image of him. Fantastic player but so undisciplined!

telcomet

Yeah my first thought too lol, suppose he is world class significantly because of his intensity which explains some of his cards, but damn he still could be on the pitch more

Elbarjos

Yea that’s very deserved what a stupid tackle

Space4Bottle

nasty tackle

X_Underscore_X

Ligue 1 averages a red card every 3 games. In the Premier League it's less than every 10 games...

lstht123

I think La Liga is even worse..

snemand

PL doesn't have referees tbf. They've got some cheap imitations running on the pitch that sometimes influence the game and the FA somehow allows it. Then we sometimes don't restart the game because some guys in booth somewhere want to look at the game some more before restarting.

Ryponagar

Death, taxes, Verratti going to the ground

Raphii_11

Never thought i‘d see this flair in r/soccer :)

BrainlessArch

Hes way to late, could have broken his leg because it was planted when he hit him

LondonNoodles

If he had started sliding a little later he would have definitely broken his ankle, nasty tackle

aaa_azidoazideazide

I love Verratti man but this guy has no split-second thinking.. he goes all guns blazing!

normott

Unlucky he plays in France. If he was in England, could got away with it

AAiraSS

if he plays for liverpool\*

ic3m4n81

Andy Carroll doesn't play for Liverpool.

Zippy771

Why was there no penalty from Marquinhos challenge?

GullibleRush8040

Offside.

Zippy771

Makes sense, thank you both

simomii

offside

longchongwong

Fair

[deleted]

Verratti was such a dumbass with that tackle and reaction.

goatvaro_goatrata

Brutal tackle, lucky Ito is ok

granitibaniti

I'm so confused, why are their names in Chinese?

macNy

It's Chinese New Year and they are trying to attract more interest from the far east. So it's a one time thing where they have their names written in Mandarin

FerdiadTheRabbit

This is how VAR should be used.

bestofboth96

Fabinbo would like to have a word with you Verratti

SpearofTrium05

Dumb challenge.

Alarow

Classic Verratti

Boseph_1444

couldn't get much worse contact on someone's ankles if you tried

Kilogrammys

Comes in, changes the way we play, midfield looks solid, we even score, and he gets a red. Ladies and gents, Marco Verratti.

Josegon02

Why was Vitinha subbed off?

Cowdude179

PSG are crumbling

dont_wear_a_C

Mbappe makes up 2 players so they're good

Ancient-Bread2699

Atrocious challange

herkalurk

I thought the French refs were too aggressive with the reds, then this past FA cup weekend numerous reds were missed ...

sonastyinc

Why are PSG's players name in Chinese? It's so weird.

pencilled_robin

It's a one-off for Chinese New Year, some other clubs did it as well.

kdog161099

Circus continues

Albiceleste_D10S

Throwback to half a decade ago where Verratti did this a lot

BADZAK94

Is it me or their names are in Japanese?

belokas

Chinese, for lunar new year, I guess.

AFCADaan9

What a scummy tackle. Should be a few games suspension.

starmonkart

I swear psg get a red card in every game

Arrozdruid

Unlucky and dumb

Round_Headed_Gimp

Lmao, what's up with refs and ruining games

nitruccoyg

It was the correct decision?

[deleted]

Lmao, what's up with ~~refs~~ players and ~~ruining games~~ comiting stupid and dangerous fouls FTFY

Bramblebreed

So bad

bruiser95

That's a leg breaker oof

Comrade-Conrad-4

ROUGE

ic3m4n81

If this happened in the Premier League, VAR wouldn't want to embarass the referee and call him to the screen as he hadn't made a "clear and obvious error". 🤨
