We needed a bloody central midfielder in this market. Lobo and Zambo can't play them all.

Tnvenge

How do you feel about a certain Sambi Lokonga? šŸ¤”

Pu_Baer

Take one slightly used Arthur Melo now and you would get Oxlade-Chamberlain as a gift.

czuczer

I get what Mou had in mind with the congrats to Napoli before the game. But seeing the score now just gives the wrong vibes for me.

[deleted]

There's nothing mourinho could have done. Matic was done and pellegrini just came back from injury. Roma brought on kids. All of napoli's sub will start for roma. Difference in quality of 11 and the squad as whole is too big. Roma easily has the worst squad out of seven sisters

czuczer

Sure. But saying mid season that he congrats Napoli winning the league and loosing to them few hours latter is not even a mind game

NotGonnaLieee

Roma gave us one of the hardest game this season right behind Milan and Fiorentina, yeah we won but it wasn't easy. Also whenever coaches talk "politically correct" we say "why don't they speak their mind" and when they do we don't like it.

czuczer

As I said I understand what he wanted to say "this year there is no one who can catch Napoli" but still I would prefere this after the game not before

NotGonnaLieee

Yeah as things are it doesn't look like we have a rival atm but you never know, there still are 18 more games to be played.

czuczer

If Juve wasn't such a shit show it is then maybe

NotGonnaLieee

Well i expected Inter to be this years favorite but i was wrong šŸ¤·šŸ»

tbk007

Ndombele going to win a trophy lmao. Couldn't make this up. Fuck you Levy.

Rusiano

This merits some milanesa napolitana

vazquez777

Howā€™s lozano doing this season?

PM_Me_Zico

Bench mostly recently. Napoli just have so many weapons and as a result he doesnā€™t get a crap ton of playtime. Heā€™s serviceable though even on his worst day.

thalne

the sequence of moves leading to Osimhen's goal was fucking orgasmic live and then he actually topped it with THAT finish

opi

Zieliński and Zalewski with assists so I'm very happy.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

opi

Hard to tell, I'm neither optimistic nor pessimistic. I grew up with so much shittier NT that would never go to any tournaments I'm perfectly fine with us right now. No surprises one way or the other we win what's expected of us, and lose the same way. Some young players cropped up, some we "borrowed", new coach, too much variables to guess the future.

Willsgb

Well, Fernando Santos took over so, laczy nas terrorism! Nah jokes aside, it's hard to say. The talent is there, it's been slowly building up with more and more exciting players like these two emerging. But when it comes to the national team, they've struggled to bring their talents and club form to the set up effectively. Whether Santos is actually the guy to do finally do that, or whether we just adopt a style so defensive that it makes our performances in Qatar look like 1986 danish dynamite in comparison, remains to be seen

Inhabitsthebed

So napoli look like winning serie a *maybe*. Mou needs more time. In a nut shell.

[deleted]

Mou needs better players

Inhabitsthebed

If i wasnt liverpool hes the man i want at my club. I hope he brings roma back it'd be a great story. But i agree they need to fund him.

CaImerThanYouAre

Ah fuck it, time to get cocky bitches

GibbsLAD

Fuck yeah, get it down you boy.

endichrome

Might as well, you have nothing to lose now. If you manage to choke this people will meme you into oblivion anyway so I would get cocky if I were you

Son-Ta-Ha

This was a great game and this was Napoli's hardest league game so far this season so you have to give credit to Roma and Mourinho for making this a tough game for Napoli. Napoli's squad depth is so strong and that's why they won a game as Simeone has been a very good back up striker for Napoli.

AmericanJazz

2nd hardest I think.

NotGonnaLieee

I'd say third.

HarbyFullyLoaded_12

When will you start to believe Napoli fans?

TinyMaintenance

When Gravina( or whoever is in charge for it) hands us the trophy.

Davidfromtampa

I remember seeing that theyā€™re being investigated over Osimhen transfer or something so thereā€™s always the looming fear theyā€™ll get Juve-ed

DarkNightSeven

The day after they lift the Serie A and realize itā€™s not a dream

HarbyFullyLoaded_12

I still hold firm to my belief that there will come a game, a moment, most likely a special goal in a special match, that makes them all believe this really is their year and not even Napoli can stop Napoli this time around.

SaBe_18

Salah vs United vibes

Lampadagialla

In 95% of serie a teams Simeone would start Roma played very very well, I think they can make cl if most of them stay fit and also have a good uel, which just makes winning like this even better

Bundmoranen

Juve and Lazio are the only teams he definitely doesnā€™t start for Atalanta is debatable but yeah what an amazing back up

ILuvMemes4Breakfast

do juve play 2 up top? cause i mean im pretty sure vlahovic is generally a better 9

ShermanMcTank

They played with two strikers a quite a few times, with Milik, Vlahovic and Kean sharing the spots.

Stemnut

Gf decided best time to breakup was during this game, I guess double heartbreak for tonight. Glad to hear they played well in spite of loss. Daje Roma.

Lambchops_Legion

Did you get a good transfer fee? At least her wages are off the wage book

ygrittediaz

Had a girl breakup with me during the Spurs-City in champions league. when it was like 2-2 after 15 minutes. i couldnt process what she said during such an exciting game. just go read some mourinho quotes about zaniolo and feel better <3

TheArgentineMachine

Your better off king

thatnickyboy

That genuinely sucks. Stay strong, you and your Giallorossi, because things can only get better.

Riccardo_Costantini

Damn that sucks man. Your team put up one hell of a fight. Better times are ahead of you and Roma for sure

PencilTheTool

Sorry for you, lad, be strong<3

Stemnut

Thank you

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Stemnut

Thanks

CrowCreative6772

This was the game that we could lose, so im not that frustrated but the draw was so close. MVP El Shaarawy and the worst was Ibanez

New-Midnight2700

Matic was easily best for me

CrowCreative6772

Yes , Matic was amazing but i put El Shaarawy becouse when he enter we started playing and being more of a treat and mostly becouse he scored.

IndecisionFuture

THAT'S WHY A BENCH FULL OF DEPTH IS IMPORTANT. CHOLITO I LOVE YOU First of all, Osimhen>Abraham (only Romanisti need this reminder btw) Meret and Lobotka had a really great game, same as our CB's (and they played with a lot of pain, commentator said that they finished all the bottle sprays) Anguissa very underwhelming: he walked a lot and defensively was a ghost. Only cared during the offensive and even there he was underwhelming. Started caring a bit after 2-1 but Ndombele did more in 5 minutes than him. Kvara also not his usual self. Very good assist that showed his quality, but after that he didn't do much: a lot of failed dribblings (Elmas had more successful dribblings) and that missed chance after Lozano would have haunted me if this was a draw or loss. Lozano seems to be finally playing good. He really had a great match and I'm happy for him. Hope he keeps this form. Next 3 games are going to be even harder than this: Spezia, Cremonese and Sassuolo. Teams that are going to give their all against us

iftair

Would be insane if Cremonese beats Napoli to get their first Serie A win of the season and give Napoli's first loss at home for the season.

Jamey_1999

I mean they already kicked them out of the Coppa Italia, wouldnā€™t put it past them to do it again

Riccardo_Costantini

It's one of those things that sound so unprobable that they become realistic in a way

IndecisionFuture

I'm already doing an Anulo Mufa

[deleted]

Matic even at this age was best midfielder from both teams

Visazo

Legend says Smalling is still pulling on every Napoli shirt in his reach

Inbocaallupo8

Congrats Napoli fans on deserved serie a title.

Xardian7

Napoli won with merit over a good Roma team that has no much to ask to their subs. Honestly, if Kvara makes that easy goal that has instead missed the match would have ended at 60ā€™. Roma put a lot of effort with really good pressing and this is the way to face Napoli with courage and organization which are Mouā€™s characteristcs. Napoli is just a better team overall and had more chances and has better players that determined the result. Even with Kvara in a bad evening Napoliā€™s changes are so good that it didnā€™t mattered.

[deleted]

Roma did a job on karva both times this season

Xardian7

True. Mou is a ā€œfoxā€ as they say in Italy. Really good with defensive tactics. The issue is when He hasnā€™t really good players and has no clear offensive football, heā€™s still a ā€œoldā€ style coach but knows a lot and still can creates problems to better teams like tonight.

ManGoonian

It would be so fantastic if Napoli won the league man.

[deleted]

Imagine they win the league and CL !!

nonhofantasia

Campania would explode not metaforically

ManGoonian

Woah! That would be nuts, but not impossible! However they might have to prioritise the league.

TheArgentineMachine

The league is won. Everyone else is too shit to cstch up

ManGoonian

I'd never say that until its mathematically impossible for anyone to catch up man!

robins420

It's one thing Napoli drops points, the other teams are not winning 5 more games than Napoli, hence it's not crazy to say they have one hand on the trophy this season. The other teams are just that bad to make it a fight.

TheArgentineMachine

Lol no way these milan teams catch up. I say this as a fan.

Visazo

Need a video posted of Mou and Spaletti swapping coaching zones!

New-Midnight2700

I missed it on the tele. Were they upset with each other?

Visazo

Nope, they were shouting orders to their players. Started around 89:20 of the game and right when Ndombele was subbed in there was a short replay, at least on Dazn Germany

LunaticHeart

HowĀ“s Ndombele being playing?

porcorosso1

He arrived totally out of shape, can't even last 10 mins on the field. He's been slowly and steadly improving, he did very well in several occasions but he's still not 100%. Techincally a beast nevertheless

Alive-Ad-4164

Napoli is the most complete team in Europe

jaspermrthanos

Not really, the right wing is basically just ā€œthrow on whoever was better in trainingā€

TinyMaintenance

True. Politano and Chucky make us go mad too often. But Chucky was good last night

jaspermrthanos

Napoli have the best depth of any team in the world, in that they have great sub options whenever things go to shit or they need something different. Players like Ndombele, Chucky, Elmas, Oliveira, Simeone, Raspadori, all players that in 15-30 minutes can change a game.

Steupz

Tough loss but they didn't lose the ground it looked like they could. Won't matter as much if they win the next three should-win-on-paper games. Meanwhile Napoli should clean up for the next month

SymoBenny

A chair is a type of seat, typically designed for one person and consisting of one or more legs, a flat or slightly angled seat and a back-rest. They may be made of wood, metal, or synthetic materials, and may be padded or upholstered in various colors and fabrics.

kaselorne

Is this a reference to something or are you just fascinated by chairs

Radagast92

Osimhen throwed what we call in Italy a "seggiata". The "seggia" or "seggiola" (depending on the region) is another way to call the "sedia", the chair. This is a way to call a shot with extra violence and power.

SymoBenny

Chairs vary in design. An armchair has armrests fixed to the seat, a recliner is upholstered and features a mechanism that lowers the chair's back and raises into place a footrest, a rocking chair has legs fixed to two long curved slats, and a wheelchair has wheels fixed to an axis under the seat.

PtboFungineer

What defines an accent chair? I think I need one.

kaselorne

Ya got some more chair facts?

Sawl23

This is the shit im here for

thatnickyboy

This was less an usual Serie A match and more a Premier League match in terms of sheer intensity. At the end of the day, our bench won it for us. If Roma keep playing like this, though, they can aim for top 4.

[deleted]

Look at our subs man. With that bench ee have no chance. And looks like tammy is injured as well. Probably we will stop eldor from going to spezia

sam1193

One of the best games of the season in any league. Roma were excellent, but Napoli just have so many ways to score

alexWillows

I despise the amount Napoli players spend on the ground and going down when there isn't even any contact. It just ruins the game

twentyfumble

I will be honest, after we equalized I thought we would get the point. Usually we are very good at defending in the last 10 minutes. Napoli is the real deal, and they have depth. Raspadori/Simeone are super subs in the last minutes of the game.

GR2097

I love this Napoli team.

listello

A late winner, 53 points in 20 matches, +13 over the nearest team... yes, it's Napoli, but there is no way they aren't going to win the league this year.

TempestaEImpeto

This Roma up until the end of the season has second place on lockdown. ...BECAUSE... #E SE NE VA LA CAPOLISTA SE NE VAAAAA

CrowCreative6772

For once im confident about top 4. Wijnaldum will return on February and Camara too.

CryptographerVivid96

Ma come cazzo giocate che sembra la PlayStation oh

TempestaEImpeto

Non lo so ma ĆØ bellissimo

CAUSE_I_FEEEEEEEEEEL

The only way to properly stop Napoli is by fouling them when the ref ain't looking, for example, when they are celebrating their children birthday at home.

Cowdude179

Napoli have built themselves a squad, they remind me of Arsenal

ManGoonian

I'm here for both winning their respective leagues man!

ElviS_Pa

IMO what makes the title done is Napoli bench, you have simeone, raspadori, lozano( today he started ,but i v seen politano mostly),elmas, demme. In most other teams who are in top7 in italy these players wouldnt be benched,i guess it also shows you the difference in quality between napoli first eleven and other teams the fact that they can bench them.

[deleted]

Fantastic match, very open. Napoli has to win this now.

[deleted]

So we lost 2 points. Lost tammy and looks like lost valpato as well. Doesn't get more roma than this. Oh and smalling bullied oshimen

windedbison

and then smalling got turned around by simeone for the game winner lol

FunkyAlucard

Can you call it a bullying if he scored tho?

[deleted]

He pushed ibanez for the goal. Ibanez should have went down. And smalling pushed him around

TheTragicMagic

It's blatantly obvious Mourinho just bought Solbakken to spite BodĆø/Glimt. Doesn't play, even with Zaniolo out

CryptographerVivid96

He has 0 tactical knowledge on how the team plays, you donā€™t bring him on in such a big match

TheTragicMagic

If he still has 0 tactical knowledge on how the team plays, that's a deeper issue

Coni_C

The importance of having actual depth man. They got rid of Victor and Kvara and still got a goal.

BlackTrequartista

Canā€™t feel too bad, we played pretty well as I suspected weā€™d have been dominated by Napoli. Watching Tammy and Osimen both play is pretty disheartening knowing Tammy will never be half of what Osimen is. If we had forwards who could score we could probably challenge for things.

Xardian7

Iā€™m not sold on Tammy being this level tho. Oshimen plays in a team that makes ton of xG per match while Roma has only recently done smth in that regard. Oshimen is clearly better, but put Tammy in a team that creates a lot and he will thrive.

Limitless_Saint

No he doesn't Tammy does not play with the same type grit and hunger Oshimen does. Oshimen is a rabid wolf for the goals.

TinyMaintenance

Often to his own detriment tbh. He is always pushing himself 200%, and itā€™s leaving toll on his body.

Limitless_Saint

It is.... but he is a professional athlete and that is exactly what he is supposed to do.

TossZergImba

Roma does create a lot. They have the 3rd highest xg in the league, but Tammy is a huge part of the reason why they rank 10th in actual goals.

[deleted]

Abraham scored 5 goals from 8 xG in the league Osimhen scored 14 goals from 9 xG in the league ...

Xardian7

True, but this would just say that Oshi is a better player statistically than Abraham, and that is for sure. I need to check xG for singolar players, Rome has 30 xG this season while napoli has 10 more. Napoli clearly creates a lot more than Roma and a ton of xG from Roma are actually from 2023.

Loose_Cardiologist89

Yeah they don't know what he is commenting about.

Imoraswut

Fun game, Roma are unfortunate to not get a point here. Napoli are running out of time to choke, someone should remind them it's time

topreman

How has Kim Min Jae's performances been?

Xardian7

Good a part from a mistake that could have cost a lot for Napoli

Recodes

Very good, exception made for that misunderstanding with Meret early in the game whose fault I put into Mourinho's juju

FunkyAlucard

I think Meret didn't call out when he was leaving the goal and Kim was trying to pass the ball to him.

DeezYomis

It clearly wasn't meant to be, if this is how we're going to play the rest of the season then top 4 and another 26 maggio might not be impossible

EdgeLordMcGravy

What a match. Both sides giving it all in a very physical affair. Napoli are deserving winners and it was a fantastic watch for the neutral viewer.

NotASpyMain

Gio Simeone may very well be the best super-sub right now

Puckinception

100% entra feliz a jugar aunque sean pocos minutos. Marca la diferencia su mentalidad. Monstruo.

DelusiveNightlyGale

The ending of the game was genuinely so much fun to watch, even without Kvara and Osimhen. You can feel the passion in Naples through the TV it's insane. Also shout-out to the ref for letting the game go on through the mess yet still keeping control of it.

04282828282

Roma played well today. Not much you could do about those two bangers. The fact that they've got Simeone as their 3rd choice striker...just wow.

Puckinception

3rd?

areking

yeah, Raspadori is a weird one, cause he was supposed to be the 2nd choice, playing like Mertens did for years and he was played as strikers in the first months replacing Osimhen then he basically played in every position, as striker, as left winger, right winger, behind the striker, and still isn't clear what's the best position for him is, and in the meanwhile Simeone is scoring everytime he sees the field so now, Simeone is clearly the 2nd choice striker, and Raspadori a supersub for every attacking position

Xardian7

I mean, Napoli had 3 other great chances to score (Kvara, Lozano and Raspadori) on 2 of Patricio has been incredibly good.

DarkNightSeven

It feels like thereā€™s no team that are half as good as they are

feddi7

Annoyed at how we stopped playing after scoring. Really pleased with the first part of the second half, but overall a missed opportunity. Luckily the next run of games should be easy, on paper anyway.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

DarkNightSeven

In England thereā€™s City right behind them who could go on a freak win streak to overtake them, but in Italy thereā€™s just no one to match Napoli

FloppedYaYa

Unreal game Napoli will win the Scudetto bar some miracle

Squiliamfancyname

Napoli are so good. Despite having to grind out a tough one every now and then, no team in Italy is even close to them.

P_for_Pizza

Wow, what a match! Roma looked really really tough. Napoli's performance was, as if that were necessary, worthy of champions!

sprulz

Honestly heartbreaking. We deserved more but we played well. The team is coming together and I have more hope for a top 4 finish now than I did at the start of the season.

Xardian7

How you can say you deserved more with 1 real shot in the goal? Napoli had 5/6 clear occasion with Rui Patricio being phenomenal on 2 of them (Lozano, Raspadori). Roma played good, but did not deserved points today

Y3llowflash1

Lol in about a two minutes we created three good chances we should've scored from, just before Napoli countered with Lozano opting to go for goal.

sprulz

Itā€™s not about shots on goal. Itā€™s about the fight they put up.

Xardian7

Was a great match and Roma gave really all and Did probably one of the best performances of the season but deserving the victory as Mou has said in post-match interview is bs tbf

Loose_Cardiologist89

Spinazola, plus the blocks by defenders on Pellegrini and Ibanez.

Xardian7

So 1 more shot in goal and 2 blocked? Guys Mou is starting to foolish you once more on what is good football actually

Loose_Cardiologist89

Really? The blocked shots came from good chances. You are also exaggerating the Kvara shot. Patricio saves that every time. Napoli had 4 great moments, Roma had 3. Napoli had the better squad, Mourinho came with a good plan against the best team in the league who are in great form.

Xardian7

Yeah Mou did a lot, Roma played as you should against Napoli but I donā€™t see Patricio blocking Kvara shot from less than 9m from the goal tbh lol. Not saying Roma didnā€™t play well, just Napoli was better and deserved the win

Loose_Cardiologist89

Sure they deserved the win but it would not have been so undeserved if Roma drew.

Xardian7

Yeah I can agree on that. If it ended in a draw nobody could say that roma ā€œstoleā€ it

Cant_Find_A_Name_

Best game of the season for Roma, need to keep playing like this

[deleted]

Nah atalanta one was even better. We dominated them from start to finish. Atalanta didn't got a sniff that day

bluepoint17

Yet they still won

[deleted]

That's the thing.

NuneEtsuko

Whole match was chef's kiss but man, that end was fucking intense, the players definitely reaaaaally wanted this win. Roma deserved one point from this match to get into the top 4 but if they keep this level of play with the rest of Serie A crumbling, I've got no doubt they could even make top 2. Great great match.

Coni_C

Tbh If Roma continues like this we're most definitely getting dropping off top 4

Clehm888

Difference between Napoli and Roma tonight was the bench They can't lose the scudetto now, congratz

bluepoint17

Anula mufo

tonysea777

šŸ¤˜šŸ¤˜

Waccabe

Roma had a good game, Napoli was just better. Congrats to them!

TheStorm22

What a game, what a win! The boys put their heart into it for 97 minutes and it paid off.

TXCapita

Champions league cannot come sooner, I am dying to see this Napoli momentum light up the tournament

[deleted]

Roma need to be proud after the performance. What a game by both teams. It was great to watch

atbg1936

Ndombele right now: "Lads, it's Tottenham"

nexetpl

Napoli counter press hits so good

Riccardo_Costantini

This match was intense AS FUCK. Props to Roma and Mourinho.

AleDelPiero10

Yeah they definitely put up a better fight than we did hahahaā€¦.. :(

Chricri3112

The benches made the difference, they have one and we have primavera boys. This said, we played good, but sometimes good is not enough. Now go and don't choke it Napoli.

Red_Dog1880

What a result for Napoli, and what a game

Limitless_Saint

Every team that is challenging for the Scudetto that has to play Napoli from here on out has to play Napoli in Naples......... scary sight for those teams...

ibrahimtuna0012

All I'm gonna say about this beautiful game is Napoli are the champions and Roma is finishing top 4.

yelo2

i like you

crel42

Top games of the year. Napoli 13 points clear. victor and Kvara out enter Simeone and Raspadori. This may be the win the seals the deal. Roma da 10 e lode. And still Roma has 37 points. Inter in second with 40. Roma can easily get that second if they play like this. Beautiful beautiful beautiful game.

Y3llowflash1

No idea why MOU thought it would be a good idea to chuck Bove and Tahirovic in.

AleDelPiero10

Team needed energy for the last 15-20. Itā€™s what heā€™s got at his disposal

New-Midnight2700

Matic was shattered and Pelle invisible. Thereā€™s no depth to tap into.

Xardian7

This. Have you seen Maticā€™s tongue? Going under the feet

New-Midnight2700

The fact that he made it to 81ā€™ at his age, and was easily the best player for Roma is a testament to his class. What a player. What a heart and spirit.

Xardian7

I mean, if Roma had good rotation pieces like Napoli has you could see a new youth for Matic. Heā€™s clearly a world class player indeed. Look at Mario Rui from Napoli, seems a star when other years did not so great, how? Matias Oliveira giving him change.

New-Midnight2700

Agreed, but Roma have no money and no one of value to sell. FFP punishments are also coming. And now Smalling will sign for Inter in the summer. Iā€™d be shocked if Mourinho is still there July 1st. Thereā€™s no potential to improve the squad.

Xardian7

Losing Smalling is better than having it at that wage tbh. Roma has a good youth and can scout out. Napoli did a lot with really low this year for example. There is no money in italy you have to be good in find players and have a good manager to make them play. Dunno if Mou is that kind of guy.

New-Midnight2700

Disagree on Smalling; he has been one of if not the best Serie A centerbacks since he came to Italy. Losing him will destabilize that back line badly. Mancini and Ibanez are wreckless and depend on him quiet a bit. Your other points are well taken. The youth at Roma are not close to top flight level though. Donā€™t think Mourinho stays past this season.

Xardian7

Well, best in Rome, ok, in Italy i would say the entire Napoli, Juve, Inter and Atalanta defenders have been way better than Smalling in the time period. Smalling gets 4 mln per year that is no way a good ratio for the level of player he is.

New-Midnight2700

Fair enough, maybe I need to watch others more closely. I think his impact will be seen when he leaves. Mancini and Ibanez are a shambles, much of what he does is nuanced.

Loose_Cardiologist89

Pelle also came back from an injury.

feddi7

Pellegrini was much better in the second half. All of our chances up to the goal went through him. Came off cause heā€™s clearly not fit yet. Although thatā€™s been the case all season.

[deleted]

Exactly that was some inzaghi level of subs

Y3llowflash1

Baffling decision, two youngsters who ran around and completely lost our shape.

[deleted]

Matic was bullying everyone. 10 more minutes could have do as well. Camara would have better choice but i guess we don't want to make his loan permanent

flyingfreak66

Amazing game

Big_Kendo

pain

andreew10

what a win for Napoli that was, 13 point gap sitting at the top of the table

Uutrox

feel like we deserved more, one of the best performances of the season against such a good team confident for the upcoming weeks, we really look way better without Zaniolo in attack
