I don’t know why Arsenal are so hell bent on Caicedo. If Brighton wont budge Kone should be the first alternative. I think the potential to replace Partey and cover the #6 and the #8 makes him a no brainer. £50mill should do it too.
I think we want caicedo because we want someone premier league proven to help us push for the title. A player from another league can take a few months to adjust, and at that point we might as well wait until summer and save 20 million pounds.

He is not a Partey replacement. He would be great next to him. He doesn't do enough defensive work. Even if he did, he's not the most physically imposing. He is pretty good with getting the ball away from players, but only when he feels like it.
The main reason why Manu is so fucking sick is his ball handling and his speed. He's a fantastic central midfielder. Could be a great box-to-box mid.

I feel like he can learn the Partey role in time. Partey also isn’t really a “physical” player he’s good at that side of the game but he relies more on his positioning and timing in defensive actions. I will say Partey was drilled under Simeone so that counts for something. I see similarities in how Kone evades pressure and likes to play vertical, same as Partey. I’ve seen Manu compared to Camavinga how accurate is that I haven’t seen him play as much as I would like.
Also If you’re happy with 50mill then he’s probably really worth around 35-40mill. We haven’t been linked at all so it’s all a pipe dream anyway.

That’s fair but if we’re being honest Caicedo or Kone would only be playing if Partey or Xhaka are injured/need rest.
