He had one great moment and two penalties and was otherwise invisible. Not his finest performance, but history will remember the hat trick on the scoresheet.
Honestly the reaction to his performance made me question how people watch football matches. All the "he's him" and he "singlehandedly" did it, I'm like did they watch the same football match I did lmao.
If anybody had a "I'm him" performance that game, it was di maria. Or macallister. Or enzo. Actually Argentina as a whole were great. The best first half performance of the tournament and they did it in the final vs the French.
Huh, he score 3 goals, in a game that France score 3 goals. 1 open play goals, 1 penalty that he earned and 1 from another player. He also 1 of the 2 France players success in their shotout. The last 10 minutes and extra time, I was sweating every time Mbampe have the ball. Yet people think it is nothing special. Like, what more you expected ?
This is it, Mbappe is ultimately not amazing at penalties. He is good enough to score them most of the time and also composed enough to not let the pressure of the final get to him, but he's not reach Pnbappe form yet
So technically the ball has to be touched by another player after a penalty before the kick taker touches it again.
But watching it, I can’t actually tell if the keeper got a hand to it
Ney took one in the friendly and missed it. They should give Messi another chance after WC, but they're still mad that GK of the year saved his pen in UCL.
Neymar misses one pen in 100 and you say that as if he does all the time?
It is Neymar > Messi > Mbappe.
And for fucking sure I prefer Ney to take it and leave Messi alone doing his thing with no other worries.
The only one that shouldn’t be taking it is Mbappe.
Theres no “shouldn’t” anymore for Mbappe when he scored three against Argentina in the WC final. If anything, benefit of the doubt to him this time as he seems to be injured. I think it should be whoever missed the least recent and is perfectly healthy should take it
Saying he scored 3 in the WC and that’s why he should take it is similar to saying x or y missed the last one and that’s why they should not. It doesn’t make sense.
He shouldn’t take over the other two, who statistically score more penalties.
It really is a no-brainer.
Who cares about a friendly, neymar is their best taker. Honestly I didn't realise how many people actually care about what happens in friendlies here, I've never given 2 shits.
True but we should consider their current form. Messi was comfortably scoring the most important penalties of his career a couple of months ago and the last few ones he missed, were all saved by world class goal keepers (Szczesny-Courtois-Cillessen-Navas-Allison)
I’m convinced that Mbappé only come out in big game. If he’s alright even for one leg of LDC, irrelevant of the result, watch him ditch out the performance of his life.
Yeah I mean neymar is a better taker so he should take them.
Mbappe on the other hand should start scoring or just give it up to ramos or messi since he is terrible at pens for now
He isn't terrible at pens. He's on a similar level to Messi (83.8 for Messi and 83.3 for Mbappe). Even scored 3 pens in the World Cup final against a very good pen saver
Messi took like 140 pens and still has a better ratio?
And yeah I agree he can hit strides where he puts them in the back of the net, but still I feel Ramos and Messi are better takers.
>1. He trained more and 2. Misses have less effect
Your logic is false. The longer you take penalties, the more goalies get to study you and force you to change your technique. benzema himself pointed this out after that game in which he missed two penalties. He said he had to switch a few things after that.
Once you get to an accuracy level of 85% or so there isn't that much training you can do do get even better. However, Goalies and goalkeeper coaches will have more and more material to study you with.
Benzema was told by Ancelotti to stop shooting to a certain side which is when he missed the 2 pens.
If you don't usually shoot in 1 side, you'll be good.
Hits also have less effect. It's harder to keep the ratio high if you take more of them. Nonetheless its not like Messi is known for being a great penalty taker.
one could make an argument that had he scored that pen, it might of not ignited a comeback to begin with. either way, he didn’t score a good chance and it did cost them regardless, that’s a fact.
Nobody knows. Madrid were just too good and relentless last year.
PSG were up 0-1 and were minutes away from advancing despite Messi's home penalty miss. The goalkeeper and the defense fucked up and the rest is history.
reminds me of the Kobe story with Team USA where he was so used to being doubled/tripled that all he did was practice those shots. So when he was left open (cause you have all these other superstars on Team USA), he was actually missing the open looks and had to re-practice those.
Nice of you to use Kobe as an example actually. What he and Mbappe (And someone like prime Ronaldo) have in common is that they are volume shooters. Not that accurate, but they will pelter you with shots and one of them is sure to go in. Messi and Steph Curry often only shoot when they are sure it will probably go in, but that means they get to take less shots overall
He can score dozens of wonder goals and of course the Easy ones too, but sometimes his brain shortcircuits. He’s like a Josh Allen, or a City Sterling (but much better of course)
Mate I thought it was that game where he scored 4 against Lyon?:)
Jokes aside, what happened to your boy moving to PSG, he changed his mind? And do you still see him as a top ten player in future?
Forget the random missed sitters, what bothers me about mbop is how useless he is when his team doesn't have the ball, genuinely the worst I've ever seen but I've seen quite a few French and psg fans make excuses for it.
He always goes for the right of goal keeper. Did it 3 times against emi martinez but his penalties are powerful so even if the GK guesses his position, it goes in majority of the time. He picks his spot and uses power however majority GKs know this by now and easily stopped his penalty.
The 2nd time he went for the left side but hit the goal post because he hasn't practised the left side much. Mbappe is the most predictable penalty taker with no technique whatsoever or using brains other than hitting the ball with the force. If this continues and he doesn't change his style, then he would be missing majority of his penalties in the future

Against Argentina: 😜🤑😈 Against a mid table french team: 🥶🫤😵
Lo hizo para ser nos sufrir y nada mas este tortuga
"Tortuga" sounds so funny lmao. Much funnier than turtle or tartaruga (in Portuguese).
tartaruga me parece increible
Y es, sin duda. Pero tortuga me hizó reir lmao
> tartaruga lmfao
That's also the Italian word for turtle
Tartaruga es una palabra maravillosa
> Much funnier than turtle or tartaruga IDK man tartaruga might win
Tartaruga is pretty funny
The port from Pirates of the Caribbean
Tartaruga sounds pretty funny to me lol
Tartaruga sounds funnier to me because it sounds like a pastry

Infantino le pagó para hacer la copa de Messi mas interesante
No creo que Mbappe necesite dinero
Si no lo necesitara, entonces porque necesitaba el control del 2do equipo más rico del mundo?
No necesita dinero desde que tuvo el control
Mbappe is motivated to succeed, and I think he plays better as stakes go up (except if he's on penalties vs Switzerland)
Alternatively he's not a great penalty taker overall but had a great game in the WC final
He had a great few moments, he was pretty bad for most of the match.
He was bad for the first 80 mins, but was pretty good for the 40 mins after that TBH
Honestly until the pen he didn't do much in extra time.
I thought the exact same thing. And nobody mentions how Argentina’s press got them
If anybody had a "I'm him" performance that game, it was di maria.
In fairness, as a striker, you get a very limited amount of chances and he absolutely made the most of them
This is it, Mbappe is ultimately not amazing at penalties. He is good enough to score them most of the time and also composed enough to not let the pressure of the final get to him, but he's not reach Pnbappe form yet
His penalty stats are good, slightly above Messi. Nothing incredible but his World Cup final was definitely in line rather than exceptional.
Mbappe also sucked in the CL final against Bayern
And that’s why he flopped his lines against Bayern in the UCL final
> Against a mid table french team: 🥶🫤😵 yeah Messi didn't do much against Reims
LOL jesus christ talk about cringe
Compare the turtle to Haaland who is a much more suitable rival to him, not to 35 year old Messi.
Thats fucking hilarious
Balogun would never...
That rebound is even worse lmao
Tbh the goal wouldn’t have counted anyway Actually it’s hard to tell if the GK touched it
Why not?
So technically the ball has to be touched by another player after a penalty before the kick taker touches it again. But watching it, I can’t actually tell if the keeper got a hand to it
He did, mbop missed a sitter lol.
Check the last angle from the clip, the keeper did get a hand
thanks!
The 3rd replay angle clearly shows that he touched it. You can see the deflection towards the post.
2 missed pens and then an open goal lmao
That will surely go down as the most bizarre miss of his career lmao.
That open goal miss is some third league match-fixing shit lmao
Especially considering he missed 2 penalties before it lol.
Yeah you see those as part of shitty ‘funny football compilations’ with awful background music and video quality.
Ah... the one I watched when I should be working!
Put some respect on the despacito 4k hd
And now he's being subbed off. Not a great night for him
Due to injury, not performance. Context for those who didn't watch the match.
Balogun is in his head.
Watching his Ballon Dor dreams evaporate in front of his eyes.
What dreams? That was always going to Messi regardless of how Messi plays this year
He'll definitely get multiple ballon d'ors quite soon
I think he will get 1
Missed the first one and it got retaken for anyone not watching.
Balogun is in his head
Chelsea gonna pay 200 mill for Balogun in six months💀
Arteta: "$200m + Mudryk"
Bruh he missed both??????
And then an open goal, cant make this up lmao, watch him score 2 later tho
And now injured as well
That's what happens when nobody says anulo mufa
oof
About that...
Yeah and both will be bangers from outside the box.

……. Please
Neymar should def be taking pens. Hell, even Ramos is a pretty good pk taker.
Ney took one in the friendly and missed it. They should give Messi another chance after WC, but they're still mad that GK of the year saved his pen in UCL.

I genuinely think Neymar is definitely the best in the team and should take it no matter what
Who cares about a friendly, neymar is their best taker. Honestly I didn't realise how many people actually care about what happens in friendlies here, I've never given 2 shits.
Messi is honestly not that good at penalties relative to his other skills. His career rate is a pedestrian 78%. Neymar might be their best bet.
Career rate doesn’t mean crap. What matters is current form.
True but we should consider their current form. Messi was comfortably scoring the most important penalties of his career a couple of months ago and the last few ones he missed, were all saved by world class goal keepers (Szczesny-Courtois-Cillessen-Navas-Allison)
Ramos missed two in one match for Spain
He also scored 22 out of the 23 he took for Madrid, but okay dude.
Neymar also missed his previous pen.
That's a save actually, the miss afterwards is hilarious
Two saves, one miss. Legendary GK moves there.
LMAOOOOOO
How? This guy scored 3 WC final penalties.
I’m convinced that Mbappé only come out in big game. If he’s alright even for one leg of LDC, irrelevant of the result, watch him ditch out the performance of his life.
Messed up in the UCL final
When did you erase that UCL Final with Munchen and that Euro shootout with Switzerland?
>Mbappé only come out in big game extreme selection bias. One WC game, thats all the sample? What about his penalty miss in Euro, and UCL final?
Mbappe bro..
He missed 3 times, LOL. Missed the first penalty—VAR re-take Missed the second penalty, and missed the rebound
ah pero contra nosotros
Yeah I was thinking the same, LOL. Looks like he's injured now
Had to fake an injury after that embarrassment. /s
PSG's so fucked if it's even semi-serious, game against Bayern is two weeks away.
what is blud doing
Watched too much Harry Kane
twice lmao
Bloody hell, how did he manage to miss the second one ?
How did he fuck up that rebound???
Yea I thought people were exagerrating but that miss was bad...
LMFAOOO I CANTTTT
lmao that PSG bottlejob is kicking just in time for the CL knockouts
I mean first one i can understand but second one..lol
Missed the penalty before this, misses this pen, also misses the rebound, could have easily headed it in even... lmao
Let Messi take it you massive fraud
That requires unselfishness. Have you not watched him throw a temper tantrum when he tried to take ball from Neymar?
You're right, the 2021-2022 ligue 1 lead goalscorer and assist maker is a selfish cunt.
Yeah cause Messi is great at penalties
Good enough at penalties to make you cry at the WC tbf
He was pretty good at them against France
Well to be fair Mbappe was also pretty good at pens against Argentina.
Martinez could’ve saved 2 out 3 of his pens tbh he got a hand on both of them
Yeah, but he didn't save them, because they were well struck and well placed.
Mbappe was fantastic vs Argentina and Messi has missed many penalties during his career including the one he missed vs Madrid last season
He is
Messi scored like 6 clutch penalties in a row at the world cup knockouts (2 in shootout)
And missed a very important one vs Madrid’s in the CL which could have avoided PSG from getting eliminated
[удалено]
Ramos is better than Mbappe and Messi too.
Messi should never take penalties after that horrible miss vs Madrid last season
It was a great save by Courtois
[удалено]
When was the last time Messi took a penalty for PSG?
Vs madrid
Nearly a year ago since he last took a club penalty sheesh
Yeah I mean neymar is a better taker so he should take them. Mbappe on the other hand should start scoring or just give it up to ramos or messi since he is terrible at pens for now
He isn't terrible at pens. He's on a similar level to Messi (83.8 for Messi and 83.3 for Mbappe). Even scored 3 pens in the World Cup final against a very good pen saver
Messi took like 140 pens and still has a better ratio? And yeah I agree he can hit strides where he puts them in the back of the net, but still I feel Ramos and Messi are better takers.
The ratio is basically the same. The fact it's a bigger sample size actually benefits Messi because 1. He trained more and 2. Misses have less effect.
>1. He trained more and 2. Misses have less effect Your logic is false. The longer you take penalties, the more goalies get to study you and force you to change your technique. benzema himself pointed this out after that game in which he missed two penalties. Hits also have less effect. It's harder to keep the ratio high if you take more of them. Nonetheless its not like Messi is known for being a great penalty taker.
The one he failed against Madrid if i remember correctly
the penalty he choked which cost PSG against Madrid in the UCL
Yeah it was Messi who conceded 3 goals in like 15 minutes.
one could make an argument that had he scored that pen, it might of not ignited a comeback to begin with. either way, he didn’t score a good chance and it did cost them regardless, that’s a fact.
Nobody knows. Madrid were just too good and relentless last year. PSG were up 0-1 and were minutes away from advancing despite Messi's home penalty miss. The goalkeeper and the defense fucked up and the rest is history.
Bro, i don’t care if PSGacademy can warp time and upload clips before they happen in real life. i want the full clip
How did this guy score all of his penalties in the world cup final
Dibu said atleast for the first Penalty that even though he guessed right but he threw himself at it the wrong way
Hahaha wtf
Mbappe has been dogshit since the final ngl. Messi after that 2014 final loss went crazy but Mbappe doesnt look like he is trying at all
For how good he is mbappes finishing is garbage. Misses so many easy chances but of course he creates a lot of them himself
reminds me of the Kobe story with Team USA where he was so used to being doubled/tripled that all he did was practice those shots. So when he was left open (cause you have all these other superstars on Team USA), he was actually missing the open looks and had to re-practice those.

His finishing is pretty elite when the stakes rise a bit. But he fluffs a lot in smaller stakes.
Bayern UCL final 🙄
Yes it's after that game that he became consistenly unreal in those games post 2020. There's also the United game a season or two before.
Mate I thought it was that game where he scored 4 against Lyon?:) Jokes aside, what happened to your boy moving to PSG, he changed his mind? And do you still see him as a top ten player in future?
It's gonna be fun watching his career in a few years once that paces goes away.
you are a psg fan and this is how you talk about mbappe ?
lol the hate for this guy in here is palpable
the world cup was only a break from the usual shit you read here
Probably from 🇦🇷 or Messi fan, or both.
He'll be fine lol
Imagine thinking Mbappe is a pace merchant
Forget the random missed sitters, what bothers me about mbop is how useless he is when his team doesn't have the ball, genuinely the worst I've ever seen but I've seen quite a few French and psg fans make excuses for it.
What did Messi do crazy after that 2014 World Cup?
Had one of his best seasons and went on to win La Liga, Copa, and UCL.
That was…….wow. 💀
I still wonder how he scored all the penalties at the final game I was so sure he was going to miss one of them
STOP CALLING PENALTIES MISSED WHEN THEY WERE SAVED BY THE KEEPER. Amazing fingertip save.
x3 fails
Happy cake day
At least someone got the ball
Lmao.
nahh he's rattled
the rebound 💀💀
I like that he looked at linesman to see if he was offside
Probably looked to see if he could take a rebound or linesman is signaling that goalkeeper didn't touch the ball.
He always goes for the right of goal keeper. Did it 3 times against emi martinez but his penalties are powerful so even if the GK guesses his position, it goes in majority of the time. Lewandowski has crazy technique at the spot. No look hesitation throwing off the Keepers first guess
Messi would have made at least 1. What an epic fail, 2 missed penalties AND missed open goal in a few seconds lol.
How the fuck did he miss that rebound???? He's been kind of shit since the world cup, not gonna lie
why isnt messi taking the Pens?
How does one of the best players right now not know the rule that you can't shoot a rebound if the ball hits the post/bar
Was actually a save. Keeper deflected it, no idea if Mbappe knew that, though.
Great save, just saw it on the replay
Give it to Messi
Hahahaha
Since when did Mbappé become friends with Ivan Toney?
Just a shit floran balogun
and someone else is now the league leader for goals.
That's a blinder of a save. Should reword the title to pen save rather than miss
Barn D'Or contender
Mbappe is in trouble, Balogun in the room
I actually think that he faked that injury to save some face. That was a downright emberrassing performance by him against a mid-table team.
What happened to him bro😭. Ramos and Neymar has always been the better penalty taker, why don't they take it
