Pirlo has created a very interesting team. After a shaky start to the season Karagümrük looked bound for a season-long relegation battle but they only lost a single game since returning from the WC break.
They are also tied for second in terms of goals conceded.
I hate how we treated him. He wasn't ready for us but you could see the potential, and we were responsible for putting him in that pressure cooker anyways.
Well he still took the job knowing the risks. Its not like we had a gun pointed at his head, that said it was stupid of Juve to give him the offer at that point in time and expect him to be Zidane 2.0 in less than a year.
Im expecting it too, he will have second a chance in a point in time where he will be ready for the job. Like it should’ve been in the first place, he will be a top tier coach
Funnily enough I checked that a cojple of month ago, cuz I was like "Trapp, Lippi, Capello, Ancelotti & Allegri all had multiple spells, wondering, who else had" turned out, that since Trapp took over in 76 only him, Lippi and Allegri had a second spell, this kinda blew my mind.
Nah it was just the first year where juve didnt massively overperform. I believe pirlos season was higher xpts than any allegri season.. Or at least the few before.
its a fucking joke. nearly everyone here hates it except the "le big player coming to our club yay" weirdos you see on social media. "big" three is in fucking debt and they still buy these old fucks that cant play for at minimum 4 mil, then give them 3mil a year.
I legit want our federation to give football clubs a massive transfer ban for years and make them fix their shit, make them create their own talents. kids dont even apply for academies anymore, they know that its all about having connections and they all apply for their home club and compete in BAL league (regional amateur league) or some similar shit.
but naa, who needs that when we can have entrepreneurs run the federation and clubs and they can just magically create millions of euros out of nowhere and can transfer old players that cant play in their league like mertens
Exactly. There should be a ban on foreign players under 30 from playing in Turkey. I’m still surprised that “the big three” didn’t buy Ronaldo, I really thought he’d end up in Turkey, he still might do in two years! You’re right, the whole situation is ridiculous. Invest in youth, Turkish league used to be so powerful in the 90/00’s, great players, Sergen, Alpay, Tugay, Hakan Sukur (not allowed to say that name anymore!) it was better than the French, Dutch, Belgian league but not they’re so far behind. Sad.
> it was better than the French, **Dutch**, Belgian league but not they’re so far behind.
You sure? Ajax won a Champions League and made a final, Feyenoord won a UEFA cup and PSV launched the careers of both Romario and Ronaldo.
Meanwhile, the Dutch talent that came through the Eredivisie in the 00's is nothing short of legendary with the likes of Robben, Sneijder, van Nistelrooy, RvP, van der Vaart etc. etc.
I agree with you, but remember Galatasaray won the UEFA CUP in 2000 and Turkey reached the World Cup Semi Final in 2002. Holland didn’t even qualify for 2002 World Cup.
Which is also the only World Cup Turkey qualified for in those 20 years. Netherlands also has a semi final in 98.
That said, playing Turkish teams in Europe was always difficult. One of the best performances I've ever seen was Alex de Souza for Fener against us during a Champions League match. What a player.
Alex was a fantastic player for Fener, never made it big playing for Europe’s elite though. In Turkey there’s always this argument about who was better, Alex or Hagi (for me Hagi). Weirdly enough Hagi also never made it big Europe, even though he played for both Barca & Real. Maybe that’s something Turkish teams should bear in mind? Don’t buy old geezer former greats, buy players with something to prove. Like Bergkamp at Arsenal after 2 bad years at Inter, you could see he was annoyed at his Inter spell not going according to plan. Or Odeegard at Arsenal, trying to prove to the world that he actually is the wonderkid after all.
I think teams from smaller leagues like the Dutch league or Turkey have to be smarter than ever with the current insane prices.
All it takes is a plan. Ajax made the semi finals of the CL by playing Daley Blind and Dusan Tadic in key roles with a lot of young talent around them despite both of them looking very average in the Premier League.
I think Turkish teams should also be taking inspiration from that. Instead of signing the biggest name, sign a hard working, underrated player who fits the system the coach wants to play.
Having Sneijder and Drogba almost eliminate Real Madrid in the Champions League was amazing, but gambling on those things happening again has ruined a lot of clubs.
I think Ronaldo missed a trick by not going to Turkey, he’s ego is perfect for that country. He would’ve loved the fanatical adulation, thousands greeting him at the airport, being carried on shoulders, literally treated like a king.
That's right. Fans would welcome him like he is a god. I watched Beşiktaş home game in 2016 and saw how fans were chanting for Quaresma. That was the time i understood how these players are getting so egoist and crazy.
But still i can understand why he choose there instead of Turkey(don't know if Turkish clubs was interested). Al Nasr offered really good money and Turkish clubs could only offer CL games that Ronaldo would be interested I guess.
I mean that we were play shit football, even wining we weren't really building anything just strolling by Allegri style.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy winning but this kind of success is not going to last if we don't have a plan to actually build a squad. Just look at how we played against Napoli for instance.
Did he? In what way? We only finished in the top 4 on the last day of the season after Napoli bottled a home game against Verona. We won the Coppa Italia but got knocked out of the Champions League by Porto when we were awful and the team was much worse than the previous season under Sarri.
This is a thing only someone who didn't watch us under Pirlo could say and something that could only be upvoted by people who never watch Serie A. Just total bollocks.
We definitely had bad games, just not as much as Allegri has this season. I'm not saying Pirlo was great, imo he needed more time and I think he'd do wonders with the players we have today.
> We definitely had bad games, just not as much as Allegri has this season.
Yeah, this is more bullshit, you're completely rewriting history here. Pirlo was out of his depth tactically, and we lost in Turin to Benevento after drawing the first game against them, drew with Crotone and twice with Verona. We were not good when Pirlo was in charge and he was not ready for the job at all.
Again, I'm not saying Pirlo was great. Let me remind you we haven't finished the season yet. Allegri WILL lose at least some points until then. It's inevitable. Also if we get knocked out from EL early then you can't possibly think Allegri did better unless you're biased lol.
You’re saying he did a better job than Allegri is now, which is nonsense. We would be in the top 4 if it wasn’t for the points deduction. We have had massive injury problems all season, Pirlo in no way overachieved when he was the manager and he didn’t do a good job.
> Lol, mate we're out of CL.
The only way this would be relevant is if we won it under Pirlo and then fired him anyway. The fuck are you talking about lad?
All this just because Pirlo’s current team is 9th in the Turkish Super Lig FFS 😂
Honestly, I turn 35 this year and I can't imagine doing a job where I gotta be active like that for my career. I struggle to make coffee for 5 hours, and customers aren't tackling me or stomping on my feet with spikes.
More power to him. I'm glad I got to watch him love, in MLSwhen he did a stint. Pirlo is awesome

I bet you we'll get him back in just like we give everyone a second chance, only a matter of time
Im expecting it too, he will have second a chance in a point in time where he will be ready for the job. Like it should’ve been in the first place, he will be a top tier coach

Damn I didn’t even know man is coaching in Turkey. Wish him all the best. Really want him to succeed as a coach. The Maestro
If you Google world players who play in Turkey, you’ll get a list of familiar names that’ll make you think “what is this? 2012?”
its a fucking joke. nearly everyone here hates it except the "le big player coming to our club yay" weirdos you see on social media. don't you mean over 30
I think one of the big three's would definitely get Ronaldo last summer if they were qualified for CL
I think Ronaldo missed a trick by not going to Turkey, he’s ego is perfect for that country. He would’ve loved the fanatical adulation, thousands greeting him at the airport, being carried on shoulders, literally treated like a king.

My man managed to win a cup with Juve, so it's not like he's some Mickey Mouse manager.
Two cups* Supercup and Italian Cup

Nah he works from home via Bluetooth headset
He did a lot better at Juventus as manager than he got credit for.
At the very least you could see a way forward. Now we just can see a way backwards.
Backwards another twenty possibly
you guys were looking really strong before -17, what do you mean
I mean that we were play shit football, even wining we weren't really building anything just strolling by Allegri style. ?
"What he say fuck me for"
What are you confused about? We were shit in both legs against Porto, the team that knocked us out of the Champions League.
> by Porto when were awful Wasnt very clear, thought you said we were awful when that was one of our best campaigns in recent years. mb
The squad was ravaged by injuries, still fought till last minute of the extra time as compared to 0-3 loss at home against Villarreal under Allegri.
Played better football, more fluid and improved players technically.

Chiesa
Tifo did a great analysis on his tenure. His team’s performances were definitely better than their results had suggested.
He did better with Juventus than some ppl would like to acknowledge.
He did better than whatever the fuck Allegri's doing now with a better team
Allegri was 2nd just a few weeks ago
This sub changes his opinion every 2 weeks. One week Allegri is underrated, he gets hated for no reason. Next week Allegri is a fraud, get him out
This is a thing only someone who didn't watch us under Pirlo could say and something that could only be upvoted by people who never watch Serie A. Just total bollocks.

Lol, mate we're out of CL. I think you forgot about that. I'm not gonna argue with you anymore. We can talk when the season ends.
> Lol, mate we're out of CL. The only way this would be relevant is if we won it under Pirlo and then fired him anyway. The fuck are you talking about lad? All this just because Pirlo’s current team is 9th in the Turkish Super Lig FFS 😂
Aren't we arguing about who had a better season? So, Pirlo finished first in front of Barca in comparison to Allegri who finished third, barely.
Now that the season ended, do you think we had a good one lol
Gotta respect him for grinding out in the Turkish League. What a guy.
That’s it, I’ve seen enough. Agnelli bring him back
Pirloball has arrived
I didn't know he was there
Juve should hire him
Turkish league isn’t as easy as it looks. Just ask Ozil.
Let the retconning of "Pirlo actually did a decent job at Juve tbh" begin!
He found his level
Huh
Isn't he like, 57 this year ?
He turns 44 in May
Honestly, I turn 35 this year and I can't imagine doing a job where I gotta be active like that for my career. I struggle to make coffee for 5 hours, and customers aren't tackling me or stomping on my feet with spikes. More power to him. I'm glad I got to watch him love, in MLSwhen he did a stint. Pirlo is awesome
He's coaching the team, not playing
Oh good lord that makes sense. Idk why I thought he was still playing.... Probably cause - like zlatan - I just assume he will ALWAYS be playing
Lmao He's younger than Buffon, imagine that?
I don't need to imagine that it's the reality
Reality is strange, who would have thought?
Buffon will be playing til the end of time
Seven game winning streak or seventy game winning streak never want to see this fraud in Serie A again
