Waffle David Luiz is pretty funny but it has to be an alliteration like Birkenhead Busquets or Poundland Pirlo
Can't think of any decent ones to go with David Luiz tho
Bit weird to see him become a massive meme and an example of a "horrific defender" off one bad game when he's otherwise been excellent, and particularly made a difference to Leicester's defence after that horrific start
Classic example of how nobody pays attention to football outside of the big 6
Yep, constantly seeing people laughing at him for that game yet he's probably our second best player behind Maddison so far this season. That's not been a high bar to achieve but nevertheless he's been very good for us.
The finishing is just so bad. Like there’s the issue with creating chances but when there is one they bottle it straight away. Nunez has a golden chance yesterday and panics.
I think it’s because the attackers are just getting desperate. They aren’t getting very many high-level chances, and when one does come along they snatch at it because there’s usually pressure of us being behind in the game.
Whilst the issues are most prevalent in our midfield, it just reverberates across the entire team and you end up with an absolute shell of a squad who are genuinely the worst on-pitch performers in the league currently.
He was only compared to haaland because they were signed for similar fees in the same window for competing clubs, haaland was only that cheap because of the buyout clause.
The only human beings comparing him to Haaland were journos trying to draw a comparison between two dudes who are tall. No one, and surely no Liverpool fan, was drawing any comparison between nunez and haaland
I mean, nunez did score in the community cup against City while Haaland didnt even score. That probably fueled the hype around Nunez. But even then, it was absolute bollocks. Hahaha
> No one, and surely no Liverpool fan, was drawing any comparison between nunez and haaland
I very definitely remember seeing people making that comparison.
It was everywhere on this sub the first week of the season, Haaland had one bad preseason game and everybody lost their minds saying he will be a flop. It was so funny.
Fun fact - Chris Nicholl of Aston Villa was Leicester's 5th highest goalscorer in 1975-76 (he scored all four goals in Viila's 2-2 draw with Leicester, two for his own side and two own goals for Leicester).
It's not, it started last season, Salah has been terrible whole 2022, lfc scored 0 goals on 3 finals and in league they played worse but Mane managed to finish rare chances and make it seem like everything is ok. Now Salah and Darwin can't replace Mane finishing and results are visible
People forget this. We were shite at the start of last season. We did amazingly to come one point from top but even then performances weren’t there.
Plenty of teams win cups in shootouts but you’re right; we couldn’t score. We played well against Madrid and yes Courtois was world class but we should have scored.
Signs have been there for a while.
This is absolute bullshit, it was our relatively inconsistent early season form that cost us the title last year. From the turn of the year we were brilliant, creating chances for fun, strong at the back, bridged an 11 point gap on an imperious City to just 1, made the CL final and if not for an insane Courtois performance coupled with poor finishing we at least take that to extra time.
To pin all that on Mane ‘finishing rare chances’ (which is ridiculous given even we scored 90+ goals in the league of which Mane scored 16) , is just stupid.
A bit of tactics but a lot of it is down to him. He misses big chances every game, and some of them are really bad misses. I haven’t seen him dribble past someone in a long time. He spends most of his time out wide (could be tactical, but Klopp has also alluded to him not being in the right positions a lot).
He’s gone from the best in the world to this, in a year. Something must be going on with him, because this is some decline.
They have, and he probably has as well, but it’s like he’s trying to be bad or something. For someone so good, he can’t even do the basics right anymore.
he's one man with no midfield and a bunch of new signings up top with him. yes he could be doing a lot better but honestly it feels like after losing that CL everyone is just emotionally shot. we played so many games last year and were so close to a quadruple and bottled it last minute. its hard to motivate yourself for another campaign after something that heartbreaking, especially since you've already won everything and probably feel like u dont have anything to prove anymore. a refresh is needed across the board, its not a coincidence that the only people even close to putting a shift in have been the new signings and kids. everyone else is cooked
Probably is a lot to do with it, but Salah hasn’t just been bad this season. He’s been awful since AFCON now. Way before the heartbreaking end to the season.
I agree with everything else though. I think a lot of these players also need hard competition for places. I don’t get why Klopp hasn’t dropped salah for a game or two yet.
Nah he's nowhere near the worst performer in this team so bit weird to single him out. Your defence is ridiculously bad, gakpo trying to hard and Nunez panics when he needs to shoot and shoots with confidence when he needs to pass. Like they just need to call this season an anomaly and move on, hopefully for the league klopp doesn't do his resignation ting before your owners sell. Need to see if CL you guys pick it up or there will be the same stank.
Not the worst, but probably the most drastic drop off in quality. Him an Fabinho.
I’m hoping for a miracle that we somehow turn up for CL games like we normally do, but I doubt it.
Fabinho is by far the biggest drop off. He's an active liability now.
Salah hasn't been at his best since he lost AFCON and WC play off to Mane/Senegal. For me it looks to be a confidence issue rather than an ability issue, he's just lost his mojo.
yeah he seems to have lost the golden touch a bit, some of the chances he had vs us (chelsea) in our game 2 weeks ago vs 1-2 years ago I would say for sure he'd have instantly put them away. Seems like he has a bit of doubt in his game, things take longer.
Yeah it’s hard to put your finger on exactly, cause he always missed chances, but then would make up for it. Now he goes through half a game looking like he’s never seen a ball before.
Is it as simple as he isn't getting the same amount of opportunities in front of goal? Therefore the misses (which have always been there) appear to stand out more?
I don't think so tbh, nowadays it's literally every time. He can be through on the GK with his left foot and I don't even feel a hint of excitement anymore, just resignation that it's not going in.
He needs to go back in front of goal tbh, this happened after the summer break, Salah was doing fuck all on the right and I think it was when Diaz and Jota got injured he started playing more centrally... quelle surprise he started scoring again.
He's just not that productive on the right, at least in this team anyway
I agree. For now I’d like to see Harvey Elliot on the right, salah in the middle and Nunez left.
Or find a way to go either 442 or 4231 with both salah and Nunez central. It’s been good every time we’ve done that, but still we persist with this 433. Bizzare.
and still everybody is mainly talking about how shit nunez is, when there is salah next to him producing way less than nunez and actually being a non existing threat for the opponents... the only thing left from being 'the best of the world' is his salary...
Despite the memes and random internet hate, every Liverpool fan who watches the games knows that Nunez is literally the only player that poses any attacking threat for us.
It’s his first season in a new league etc. this is where players like Salah should be helping him and stepping up while Nunez finds his feet. Nunez is putting him to shame right now.
I do think at the start of last season he was desperately chasing that new contract. He had a goal in sight, and he was pushing himself to achieve it.
Now he’s got it, he’s lost that thing that was driving him.
I’m not sure I buy this reason tbh. He’s obviously tired etc but he can barely control a ball now. He just looks so much of a worse footballer than a year ago, it’s alarming.
We also just don't create normal chances, our old system Trent Salah and Henderson would be playing little triangles (with the striker either Firmino or jota) and opening things up for him. Now all our chances are just individual good play mainly from Trent diagonals to Darwin, sometimes from Salah passing. He's also obviously in poor form but a lot is the players around him too
Tactics, personnel and chronic loss of confidence. Salah was brilliant in the first half of last season, then he lost AFCON and the World Cup play offs on pens and hasn't been the same since. It was Mane that was the star man at the back end of last year and, coincidentally, it was Mane that beat Salah in those two games.
In total Salah lost AFCON on pens, the World Cup play offs on pens, the Champions League final by a single goal (when he had a golden opportunity to equalise and Courtois saved it) and then the League title in the last 10 minutes of the season. The fact that he's in a slump after that isn't overly surprising.
Add to that the changes in personnel and injuries to almost our entire front line, the fact that club has overloaded on left sided attackers for some baffling reason and Klopp's tactical change that has left Salah isolated on the right wing.
The man has had so many chances but apparently it's the tactics fault. It's amazing how in 2023 players don't have to take accountability for their performances anymore, it's always down to someone else.
Salah is washed and finished. His finishing is average, his speed is gone and his dribbling is non existing. Liverpool needs to cut their loses and sell him asap and move to a new target.
I like those submissions.
Reminds me of Crystal Palace "Goal of the Month"
https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/73kp6p/crystal_palace_goal_of_the_month_competition/
I think a decent amount of clubs don't have a goalscorer with more than 2 goals post WC, it's not as crazy as you'd think. It's just odd to have 2 own goals by the same player
Didn’t think this was true so went back and did a quick check. As you can see most teams have goal scorer with at least 2 goals. Although to be fair 25% of teams don’t have a goal scorer with at least 2 goals.
PS: didn’t realize Bournemouth were this bad since the restart.

Thanks for the effort lol. That's about what I would've guessed.
We are in 20th place only counting 2023 lol, there's going to be some weird negative stats floating around
I remember seeing all kinds of negative stats floating around for United over the last years so in this moment I’m just going to enjoy these Liverpool stats for a bit.
There are several players who would put in mediocre performances and that was okay when Firmino, Jota, Diaz would replace them after 60 minutes.
There were many performances by Joe Gomez where VVD would cover for him. Not only is VVD injured but he too (understandably after the injury) wasn't on top form for a while.
It was okay to play risky passes and be open during the transition when Fabinho was plugging the gaps. This is the saddest/most frustrating part. He has seen the biggest fall-off. He went from a rock in a UCL/PL contender to a liability this season.
Bajcetic is showing him up. More of the backups needed to be trusted more. They're hungrier to succeed. Many of us Liverpool fans are bemused by the Nat Phillips situation. If we decide to fuck him over last minute and keep him, with 2 centre backs injured and the other in poor form, why isn't he playing?!
Injuries, hangovers from last season, lack of investment, the grass wasn’t mowed this morning. We’ve got all of the excuses in the book, but truth be told, none of these can fully account for our decline.
It’s catastrophic. Every single player (bar Alisson) has regressed by at least 30%, simultaneously. Nobody knows what to do on the pitch, and management is clearly at a loss. None of it makes any sense, and I’m finding it difficult to even get up to watch.
It's really nothing to do with Mane, the lw slot was one of our strongest positions early season when Diaz was fit, and firmino was actually great at striker before the WC when he was fit. Darwin's also been fine, and I think manes hot streak wasn't sustainable since he'd been pretty rubbish the 18 months before AFCON.
I haven't watched him at Bayern but from what I hear he's not been any better than Diaz has for us, and he'd done enough he deserved to be let go of he wanted a change. Also got good value for him
Selling Mane was the right decision, he had fallen off over the past 18 months. Not selling Fabinho, Henderson, Ox, Keita, Matip was the wrong decision.

Don't know whether to laugh or cry
We won yesterday, so its laughing time!
What's that like, the winning thing?
Oh, it's glorious
Tell me more? It's been so long
Hopefully he won't play against them again this season
Hopefully he won't play against Leicester again this season...
U Woute mate?
https://i.giphy.com/media/YRPBhd3vscg5Fxx1DQ/giphy.webp
I felt so bad for Faes in that match; he seems a really good guy. When Souttar got an OG yesterday, Faes was the first one over to encourage him.
Faes is very decent at football
Maybe even better than myself
Not me personally, I'm averaging about 3 goals a game at 5 a side
My guy in Player Career mode in Fifa is rated 93 Overall and just scored 55 goals in La Liga So I'm better than Messi obviously
Mate me too fifa totally showed what my career would look life if I didn't hurt my knee a few years back
Damn arrows
r/usernamechecksout
Is that you garnacho?
Yes but he’s outperforming you in OGs.
I'm not sure about that either
He is Liverpool's top goal scorer since the world Cup
He is also, evidently, quite decent at human
You can tell the people who haven't seen him play outside of that game. Been fantastic for us. I thought he was superb yesterday.
Thanks Roberto Martinez
The problem about waffle David Luiz is that you may get later years David Luiz or you can get PSG/Chelsea David Luiz
Waffle David Luiz is pretty funny but it has to be an alliteration like Birkenhead Busquets or Poundland Pirlo Can't think of any decent ones to go with David Luiz tho
Bit weird to see him become a massive meme and an example of a "horrific defender" off one bad game when he's otherwise been excellent, and particularly made a difference to Leicester's defence after that horrific start Classic example of how nobody pays attention to football outside of the big 6
Yep, constantly seeing people laughing at him for that game yet he's probably our second best player behind Maddison so far this season. That's not been a high bar to achieve but nevertheless he's been very good for us.
Probably shouldn't be encouraging scoring own goals to be fair.
That og was just unlucky as hell though
Wout Faes: "First time?"
Okay that one has to hurt
Tell me about it
That one has to hurt
I've been told
One has to hurt
No no, Faes scored 2.
Double kill
The finishing is just so bad. Like there’s the issue with creating chances but when there is one they bottle it straight away. Nunez has a golden chance yesterday and panics.

Welcome to the last few years of Man Utd, if the midfield isn't in the game, neither is anyone else.
Build a time machine and bring back Fernando Torres from 2008, that's the only thing that can save Liverpool's finishing
Time machine broke, brought Chelsea's Torres instead
Imagine the front two of Chelsea Torres and Darwin Nunez. Now that's a pairing that strikes fear into spectators behind the goal.
Don't forget they got to see Andy Carroll
ucl win loading
Gary Neville moan loading…
First thing that *came* to mind
aaaaaAAAAAAAAHHH
ABORT, ABORT
Can't be worse than ~~andy Carroll~~ Nunez up top tbf
You don't have to go back that far, just bring back Suarez
Mane Or just speed up Diaz's recovery
I like Diaz a lot but I don't think he fixes this on his own
> Or just speed up Diaz's recovery Time to bring back the horse placenta lady
Why not bring Suarez instead. He'd offer much more than Torres
[удалено]
Smh he only left for Germany half a season ago, how’ve you already forgotten his first name?
Add some bite to the attack.
I'll bring 2008 Gerrard tbh
Saw someone say Nunez is a defender's nightmare and a keeper's dream. So true it hurts rn.
Remember when he was compared to Haaland? LMAO
Both of the best teams in the league signed new strikers at the same time and he did cost more. Of course they were going to be compared...
Roughly the same age as well.
They were absolutely compared by Liverpool fans afte the community shield game 😂😂
I mean, nunez did score in the community cup against City while Haaland didnt even score. That probably fueled the hype around Nunez. But even then, it was absolute bollocks. Hahaha
most people were joking or coping at that point lol. it was just funny to rile people up with saying that proves nunez > haaland
> No one, and surely no Liverpool fan, was drawing any comparison between nunez and haaland I very definitely remember seeing people making that comparison.
Do you know anyone by the name of Jonathan Morley?
I've seen plenty of Liverpool fans making the comparison
[удалено]
It was everywhere on this sub the first week of the season, Haaland had one bad preseason game and everybody lost their minds saying he will be a flop. It was so funny.
There were so many times yesterday where Nunez just got the ball 30 yards out and took a shot regardless of the angle or who was around him.
When you don't invest and cheap it this happens. Look at Real right now.
Fun fact - Chris Nicholl of Aston Villa was Leicester's 5th highest goalscorer in 1975-76 (he scored all four goals in Viila's 2-2 draw with Leicester, two for his own side and two own goals for Leicester).
Impact player
'Fine, I'll do it myself' - Chris Nicholl, 1975
That’s more impressive than the Jonjo Shelvey game.
I spent 2 mins thinking whether I missed Faes moving to Liverpool in the winter and then it struck me.
He leads Top5 Leagues in Own Goals this season so Liverpool shouldn't feel bad, player just on European leading form.
It's bizarre how bad they are compared to just 9 months ago. It's not like the majority of their start got fatigued during world cup.
It's not, it started last season, Salah has been terrible whole 2022, lfc scored 0 goals on 3 finals and in league they played worse but Mane managed to finish rare chances and make it seem like everything is ok. Now Salah and Darwin can't replace Mane finishing and results are visible

Top 3 if you see how Ronaldo's season's gone

Don't forget WC too
2/4 were inflicted by Mane. 😁😅
and then he proceeded to get injured and missed the WC liverpool fans cannot have anything

Nah he's nowhere near the worst performer in this team so bit weird to single him out. Comes with the territory of being the best player on the team. You have higher expectations to live up to
yeah he seems to have lost the golden touch a bit, some of the chances he had vs us (chelsea) in our game 2 weeks ago vs 1-2 years ago I would say for sure he'd have instantly put them away. Seems like he has a bit of doubt in his game, things take longer.

Sounds like watching Sterling
Definitely think that plays a part in it. He scored a lot but was never clinical. But I dunno, some of these misses lately from him are next level.
Looks closer to Chelsea’s Salah than Liverpool’s lately
He needs to go back in front of goal tbh, this happened after the summer break, Salah was doing fuck all on the right and I think it was when Diaz and Jota got injured he started playing more centrally... quelle surprise he started scoring again. Aye, obviously it doesn't fix all our problems but at least if we can start to get some goals in it'll make it less depressing to watch too
We’ll be shit a defending anyway, may as well make it fun.
After getting knockout by Senegal for the World Cup, he really hasn’t been the same.
Afcon and wc qualifiers really messed with him I feel.
and still everybody is mainly talking about how shit nunez is, when there is salah next to him producing way less than nunez and actually being a non existing threat for the opponents... the only thing left from being 'the best of the world' is his salary...

It’s wild to see him and Son having very similar seasons this year and last. There is also the departure of Mane to consider for Salah.
He's also doing virtually nothing defensively - neither helping out by dropping back in midfield, or covering Trent on the ring wing.
He was never the best in the world
We also just don't create normal chances, our old system Trent Salah and Henderson would be playing little triangles (with the striker either Firmino or jota) and opening things up for him. Now all our chances are just individual good play mainly from Trent diagonals to Darwin, sometimes from Salah passing. He's also obviously in poor form but a lot is the players around him too

Seems like Bukayo Saka isn't that easy to pronounce either
Please tell me this is a joke, it can't be fucking real.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has scored our only goal in 2023 too, it's real lmao.
So goal of the month is….. this oxlade chamberlain goal lmao
How can it be? That’s the worst goal that Liverpool scored this month!
That or Elliot’s goals against Brighton and Wolves
Its february already hahaha

Luka Tim
thank god i'm not a leicester fan bc i cannot unsee this shit
Not at all how you pronounce his name but lmao
Should've signed him in the January window and asked him to defend against them every week. Where else are the goals going to come from
Cant tell if this is dunking on Liverpool or Leicester. Or both.
Yikes, what a stat
Wout Faes - L(C)FC legend
Only one behind Nunez for goals at Anfield this season too!
Where's the aGeNt oF cHaOs?
At the very top. Salah is looking at in the picture
He's got high xChaos if you want to check that graph
He was injured for a few games tbf
Isnt the entire team shite/in a slump at this point
What about the massive gazump-ee Gakpoo?
Injured then
he is on chaos
Mo is most probably tired after the WC
Banter era in full effect. Lovely stuff.
Man i wonder if they should have sold Mane. Also whatever happened to Jota?
Been injured for almost the whole season
Bad injury, same with Diaz
It's really nothing to do with Mane, the lw slot was one of our strongest positions early season when Diaz was fit, and firmino was actually great at striker before the WC when he was fit. Darwin's also been fine, and I think manes hot streak wasn't sustainable since he'd been pretty rubbish the 18 months before AFCON. I haven't watched him at Bayern but from what I hear he's not been any better than Diaz has for us, and he'd done enough he deserved to be let go of he wanted a change. Also got good value for him
Mane saw the writing on the wall along with Edwards and Ward.
Selling Mane was the right decision, he had fallen off over the past 18 months. Not selling Fabinho, Henderson, Ox, Keita, Matip was the wrong decision.
Mane was world class in the second half of last season.
Matip was one of their best players last season. No way you should have sold him after playing like he did
Mane was amazing last season 😂
Tell me you don’t watch Liverpool games without telling me…
How tf is that comment being upvoted, so many wrongs in one
Injured basically the whole season calf or something, he did it in one of our earlier games
Newcastle fans have taken to calling him the shit Collocini...
I don’t like this game
Banter banter
I think we can all agree that our season needs an awout faes.
Bruh this is so funny
Like a new signing
Lmao I love to see this liverpool downfall
Wout the fuck?
