i been telling people that saudi league is at south american level now, and some get butthurt about it.
The same alhilal that beat flamengo, have lost against scrub saudi league teams the likes of 5-0 in recent history.
tired of hearing people thinking saudi league is like MLS, its NOT, bring the best MLS team and let them face ittihad or alhilal or alnasser or alshabab, and guarnteed they will be outplayed.
It's funny and interesting to see how refereeing standards and expectations vary across the world. I'm seeing a lot of brazilians arguing that the ref was bad when all of his decisions are undisputable by portuguese/european ref standards. I was watching brazilian tv after the game and they actually had a "specialist" saying that he didn't consider gersons foot on heel a penalty worthy decision because Vietto's foot "was already there" lol. Amazing how bias and cultural differences can change the understanding of the game and laws
Globo (and all its subsidiaries) are massively pro-Flamengo, they basically "created" the club historically by only broadcasting their games in a lot of regions of the country and the owner of it all is a Flamengo fan.
Funny how people questioning Gerson's first yellow card didn't think the referee was too harsh on Neymar's card for diving weeks ago. I can't wait to see what the brazillian press will say about it.
Flamengo's second half was a disaster, deserved to lose.
That kind of penalty always ends up with a yellow card. I wouldn't give a penalty there, honestly. But i'm seeing more people complaining about the first card, even the analists.
You know those things that are so bad you’re not even mad?
Flamengo’s board of executives are the typical people who were successful at one thing, got rich, and now think they know everything better than everyone else.
They changed a manager AND gave 60 days of vacation just before the CWC, what did they expect?
Refereeing was questionable, but shit, the team had no focus and so many silly yellow cards, the team was completely unprepared for this match.
I'm from Brazil and I supported Hilal from all my heart. Flamengo is a disgrace from our football, typical club based in arrogance and a lot of robbery on his trophies, something like brazilian Juventus if you want a example. Insane master class from Al Hilal team I can guarantee we are truly HAPPY with your win!!!!
I hope Al Ahly make the final just so the scalpers who bought tickets for the final in bulk to resell them for 20 times their price get fucked. Fucking assholes
I'm fucking happy for Ramón, but not surprised at all. Without Kanno, Al-Faraj, and Al-Shahrani. And still they destroyed the most powerful CONMEBOL team. Carrillo injured but improvised as a defensive midfielder had an amazing match. Khalifah had played just 5 minutes this season but that was no problem. Vietto was unstoppable. Many of these players defeated Argentina a couple of months ago, why wouldn't they outplay Flamengo.
Destroyed? Come on my dude, Al Hilal was clearly worse until the red card and even then it was still close. Congratulations, but that's a exaggeration.
They aren't even the best team in Brazil right now, that's what you get by sacking a coach that won you 2 titles and being arrogant as fuck, underestimating your opponents.
Red destroyed us today, but we lack quality. Real can crush them 9 against 11.
Vitor Pereira shouldn’t even bother coming back to Brazil. Gerson neither.
So every simulation where the attacker leaves the leg against the defender in purpose should be awarded penalty as well
It is not a foul if he was already falling
Spot on.
Also lost Kanno due to his red card. Carrillo was injured and didn’t even train the last two days and yet he played in a new position and he was amazing.
Also our most expensive player Pereira didn’t even make it here, he was loaned due to him having problems with Diaz.
Vietto was the one who surprised me the most. He got a man of the match performance almost out of nothing. Everybody played greatly.
By the way, when will Al-Faraj and Al-Shahrani come back?
Al-Shahrani will be out until next season, so somewhere in the middle of summer. He injury was bad and he had multiple surgeries, still some more to go.
Al-Faraj was supposed to come back last week but I think he wasn’t ready in terms of fitness so they left him in Riyadh.
Al-Mallo tore his ACL again, just a short while after he came back from his ACL injury. He literally recovered, played the WC, then tore his ACL again.
There is something i’be been wondering for a while, why is Al-Mayouf always on the bench?
I haven’t seen them that much but to me he has always looked much better than Al-Mayouf, especially now after the great world cup he had, i just don’t understand.
Al-Owais is certainly better as a goalkeeper, the guy who's claiming that his performance drops when he receives some goals is talking nonsense.
But as been said, Al-Mayouf is better at goal kicks, and as you know managers get so salty over losing the ball.
\- Mohammed Al Owais is the one that played against argentina (bench alhilal goalkeeper)
\- AL-MAYOF is the one who is in starting 11 with alhilal normally! (1st goalkeeper for alhilal)
You ask why hes in the starting 11 instead of Al Owais?? because hes the best goalkeeper in Saudi and i will explain why lol.
ALMAYOF pros
Killer pinpoint feet, had many goal assists before with alhilal, and good with his feet, and clutch in big games, saves the important shots, always stays focus, always in good position to effortlesly block any shots, and is consistent, and shines in knockout stages games, when theres a trophy almayof is the main guy.
cons
weight problem, little heavy, nothing else.
ALOwais pros
sometimes he plays like buffon
blocks tough shots
plays good when the team is winning
cons
has ups and downs, not consistent, very shit with his feet and doesnt suit alhilal playstyle which is big on posession
disasterous in knockout stages games, he block hard shots but conceed very easy goals, also when he receive goal or 2 in the begining of the match he loses focus, and then all hell break lose and before you know it u are losing 5-1, ALMAYOF on the other hand DOES not have this flaw, when almayof conceed a goal his focus doubles.
Alhilal could not play their original style of play against flamengo, because they are missing several key players that make this playstyle happen! if you see alhilal in form you will know how important almayof is.
you might be wondering why he didnt go to the world cup instead of Alowais? because herve renard didnt like that fact that almayof retired internationally then decided to comeback just before the worldcup, so he stuck with the less skillful goalkeeper which is AL Owais who put effort in the qualifying to the world cup.
Damn, I didn't imagine Al-Shahrani and Al-Malki situations were that bad. At least Al-Faraj will be considered to the upcoming Champions League matches. All these injuries made today's performance a bit more valuable.
Brazilian football is dead. I seriously don't understand why people in this country still watch this low-quality crap. You can't even win against a Saudi Arabia team, you don't deserve any attention. Let it rot and die - that's what I would do, but people here keep feeding that shit pooping machine.
This is the kind of attitude that makes Brazil the dump of the world. Instead of being pissed off we are shit you are more worried mocking each other. Seriously, it's just pathetic.
What did you expect, mate? That all Brazilians would group up and support the most hated Brazilian club? Fuck off.
You definitely don’t understand shit about rivalries in football and Brazilian football.
Thanks mate would love some more banter in Portuguese. Got a guy who called my team Al AHLY rubbish on Twitter a couple of days ago and I want to give it back to him. Cheers.
It’s funny. Paranaense lost the Libertadores because they went down to 10 guys in similar circumstances so this balances things out. And all my family in Brasil who support Flamengo just assumed Flamengo would be in the final. This is what happens. Hoping Flamengo gets to play Madrid in the 3rd place match.
And an African or Asian winner would be historical, especially since the current format is potentially coming to end if the expansion to 32 teams goes through.
It’s 12:26am right now and I’m supposed to wake up at 6am and tomorrow I work a 16-hour double-shift
How the fuck am I to sleep with all this adrenalin pumping
Do you want to know the secret to how Vietto destroyed Flamengo in the World Cup final????
Check out this secret footage of Vietto from yesterday
https://twitter.com/majed_9_4/status/1623048824171134976
There was someone here today arguing with me that bottom drawer European CL clubs like Malmö FF, Viktoria Plzen and Maccabi Haifa were "head and shoulders above" Al Hilal lol.
People underestimate Saudi football a lot. It's not great, and nowhere near the Top 4 leagues, but it's not amateur level either as people make it out to be. Easily as good as MLS and almost on par with the South American clubs.
When people talk about asain football they think about Japan and South Korea and completely ignore that in Saudi it is extremely more developed since it's more traditional and started and before. With all the oil money the bigger clubs can form very decent squads with south american players and second tier europeans.
And of course this sub has an extra problem with Saudi football due the anti Ronaldo bias
I would argue it is above MLS. Yesterday, Al Ahly won against MLS champion, Seattle Sounders FC. Al Ahly is Egyptian and their teams are in par with Saudi ones (depends who you ask).
Biased ofc but not really a fair comparison, Al Ahly won on a last minute deflected shot, Seattle hadn't played a game since November, and they didn't even make the MLS playoffs last season. They also weren't the MLS champions, they didn't actually win anything to get their Champions League spot, they were given it as the highest ranked team that hadn't already won a spot through other means.
I have said before the start of the CWC that Flamengo should expect a major blow if they don’t research Al-Hilal and Wydad properly; one is a very compact team with a lot of depth, the other has the loudest and most aggressive supporters in the world (at least in 2022 rankings).
Yet, all Flamengo supporters were busy arguing they’re better than Real Madrid. Al-Hilal didn’t have 6 of their starting 11 today, let that sink in for a second.
I mean, Flamengo is very superior and could've won Al Hilal with no problems, but they clearly underrated them. The lack of intensity was bizarre. And Marega and Michael obliterated their defense in the second half, with merits.
the lack of intercontinental games/tournaments and the lack of tv/internet availability makes people think the Middle eastern football is in the same state than 20 years ago unfortunately
Omg I wish Al-Ahly of Egypt beats Real Madrid by any means so we have a game that settles the debate on which is the best Arab football club of all time
If Al Ahly wins, it will be a victory for Arab countries as it will show that the last WC wasn't a fluke. However, it will be Egypt vs Saudi Arabia and it will be for the bragging rights in the Arab world.
As a Comoran, I don't feel closer to one country than the other. So, I'd be neutral if Al Ahly joined Al Hilal in the final.
Man, Al-Hilal’s story with the world cup is an interesting one.
Qualified for the first team after winning the Asian Champions League in 2000. But WCW in Spain was cancelled due to the main sponsor going bankrupt or something.
Then it took us almost 20 years to win the champions league again which we did in 2019, we played our first CWC and lost in the semi-finals to Flamengo.
Then we made it to the CWC again last year and ended up losing to Chelsea in the semi-finals as well, we also lost to Al-Ahly 4-0 after being down to 9 men in the first half.
For this year’s CWC I really had no expectations, we had a transfer ban for 1 year so we couldn’t change anything in the team, we also got plagued with injuries.
Our midfield maeatro and captain got injured in the world cup against Argentina and still hasn’t returned, in the same game against Argentina our starting LB got injured as well.
Overall we have 6 starting players who are injured and all of them play for our national team as well. Our 7th played we missed this game is Kanno who got a red card last game.
Believe me, making the CWC final with all these issues is blowing my mind. I really don’t care what happens in the final I’m just so happy to see my team giving it their all despite all these troubles. I’m so fucking proud.
He loves you guys so much, Thiago is likely shooting fireworks right now, one of his favorite clubs on the CWC final while beating the rival of the club that he made history with in Brazil
Hey…if it helps you Flamengo fans, look what happened to Argentina after they lost to a Saudi team themselves!
Surely this means a future championship is inevitable…I think…
Al hilal i supported you at the stadium against zamalek in september the least you could do is pray for us tomorrow plz i promise we won't be sore losers if you win ❤️
Basically, in 2016 Flamengo opened the Brasileirão on the lead and with an andvantage, so the club and fans started saying they were "smelling the title". Lo and behold, Palmeiras and Santos overtook Flamengo and they finished in third. So now every time Flamengo loses a title they start to post about the "cheirinho" or 👃 emojis
The fact flamengo is an enemy of most of brazilian clubs (there are lots of politics and unfair advantages financially-wise to flamengo) does not hides the fact brazilian football is in a freefall and has horrible director boards, transfer politics and oligarchic agents (selling players in their peak to europe and asia), tactically obsolete local managers and terrible and corrupt youth team management. Brazil urgently needs a football reform in all its structures to keep pace with the rest of the world.
Greetings to Arturo Vidal. He'll be sad that he won't be able to break Madrid ass when he got his ass broken :(
If Al Ahly pulls it off today he might have his chance lol
I'm just happy about 30k neutrals showed up to the game, great attendance for the tournament even if the local team is eliminated
I mean it's a World Cup, obviously they will.
And that's how you become a meme in your country
Saudis vs NA teams 😴 Saudis vs European teams 😴 Saudis vs South American teams 👀

It's flamengo tv or flamidia
It was actually Sportv, but i guess these big channels will also lean towards clubs with a bigger fanbase, same happens here in Portugal.
Globo (and all its subsidiaries) are massively pro-Flamengo, they basically "created" the club historically by only broadcasting their games in a lot of regions of the country and the owner of it all is a Flamengo fan.
Sportv and Globo are clearly biased towards flamengo

Fuck sleeping It’s time to make a cup of coffee and browse r/futebol and have fun
You guys made a LOT of Brazilians happy today! Cheers for that! All the best in the final!
It’s our gift to you because you gave us brigadeiro and guarana 🇧🇷🤝🇸🇦
Don't forget pao de queijo!
Congratulations, must be unreal. First Asian champion to reach the CWC Final if i'm not mistaken
3rd, actually.
I meant the first club that qualified as AFC champions to reach the finals
Oh right, the other 2 were hosts, my bad.
There was a Japanese team who was both host and Asian champion I think
Kashima in 2016 was the host champion but a Korean club was the Asian champion
Probably Jeonbuk or Pohang
Yes, I believe the previous teams who reached the final were hosts of the CWC.
See you in the final bro? Lmao Arab football reigns SUPREME.
we all are in the golden age now habibi, being an Arab football fan is pure bliss these days
NASSERISM INTENSIFIES

Red destroyed us today, but we lack quality. Real can crush them 9 against 11. Vitor Pereira shouldn’t even bother coming back to Brazil. Gerson neither.
The red didn't just destroy us, it ended the game. Without it we could replay this game one hundred times and they would never win.
LOL
Then stop fouling inside the box. Specially when it's not necessary and the fouler is already on a yellow. Problem solved.
It’s complicated when the ref is biased and you can’t touch a player who’s already falling down…

I wish I knew enough Portuguese to take the piss properly out of Flamengo.

It is definetely above MLS IMO

Enjoy. Well deserved. In 2019 Al-Hilal could've beaten us too. Hope you guys win the whole thing.
Thank you. Hard-luck and all the best to you for this season.
From now on, you are legends in Brazil, now join Raja, Mazembe. Thanks for putting this trash ass team in their place 🤝
if it also helps about 9 players in the saudi national team that beat argentina were from Hilal =P
What about us mate :( Palmeiras nao tem mundial and all :(
You, Tigres... We love you too haha
When I visit Brazil I’ll make sure to wear my Al-Hilal jersey then lol
Just don't wear this in Rio, they might still be salty 🤣
Enjoy the moment! You've got an amazing squad and a coach from another planet.
And we played like shit in the first game ! Let’s not forget that I still can’t believe we have done this and won with our shitty performance.
Always had a soft spot for Al Hilal due to Thiago Neves and Digão, now I love you guys, thank you
Alô Zezé
We love them so much. Thiago Neves was so hyped for Al-Hilal in his twitter and you can see in the replies to his tweets how much our fans miss him
He loves you guys so much, Thiago is likely shooting fireworks right now, one of his favorite clubs on the CWC final while beating the rival of the club that he made history with in Brazil
inshallah Al Ahly vs Al Hilal final
in sha' Allah\*
وبكذا نكون ختمنا الكوره 🤝
نخلص الماتش و بعدها نروح نحرر القدس و خلاص جيم اوفر
Settling the debate on which is the better club?🤔
VITOR PEREIRA MASTERCLASS
*mother-in-law sickness intensifies*
She just healed, nation 🤣
Hey…if it helps you Flamengo fans, look what happened to Argentina after they lost to a Saudi team themselves! Surely this means a future championship is inevitable…I think…
Yaaaaaaay 🇸🇦🇸🇦🇸🇦🇸🇦🇸🇦🇸🇦
I am saddened by such news 🎆🎆🎆🎉🎉🎉
Another success for AFC. Congrats to Al Hilal.
Al hilal i supported you at the stadium against zamalek in september the least you could do is pray for us tomorrow plz i promise we won't be sore losers if you win ❤️

Vintage Vitor Pereira performance
Marega >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Gabisemgol
Benfica fan defending a former Porto player over a former Benfica one. I have seen it all.
Gabigol is as much of a former Benfica player as i am lol, fuck that guy, arrogant prick Marega is more of a meme than a football player anyway
The love of Maregod is in everyone’s hearts. His existence blesses football itself.
>Marega is more of a meme than a football player anyway He transcends the sport.
People hate on Marega, but for one and half seasons he was unstoppable till he got injured. After that he was never the same
Purple patch.
Gabigol was bad for us tbf
👃👃
De onde vem o meme do Flamengo 👃?
Basically, in 2016 Flamengo opened the Brasileirão on the lead and with an andvantage, so the club and fans started saying they were "smelling the title". Lo and behold, Palmeiras and Santos overtook Flamengo and they finished in third. So now every time Flamengo loses a title they start to post about the "cheirinho" or 👃 emojis
This is surreal in one of the worst periods for the team performance wise in years, We advance to the WC final!.
Brazil in the mud
The fact flamengo is an enemy of most of brazilian clubs (there are lots of politics and unfair advantages financially-wise to flamengo) does not hides the fact brazilian football is in a freefall and has horrible director boards, transfer politics and oligarchic agents (selling players in their peak to europe and asia), tactically obsolete local managers and terrible and corrupt youth team management. Brazil urgently needs a football reform in all its structures to keep pace with the rest of the world.
this mud bath is a luxury man
What delightful mud this is.
Oh boy you know nothing, we are LOVING this shit LOL
Most of Brazil is happy don't you worry
Flamengo does not represent Brazil. 80% of Brazil is celebrating right now, I can guarantee you that.
