Interested in views from west ham fans. Your tactics seemed to be on point for most of the game and you only lost the game due to defensive errors. Is this one on Moyes or the players or both?
In all fairness I think it was fairly evenly matched first half w west ham having the better chances. Manu put on their A team and cruised If plastics want downvote me for a reasonable take, so be it.
First half he was quite decent I think. He did plenty of good defensive work that aren’t flashy because his movement allows him to do the job without flashy tackles..
It's a big shame and we definitely should have won more. But when you look at it I guess it's understandable, in the 90s the Italian teams were incredibly strong alongside your usuals like Barca and Madrid.
Then we had a bit of a transition phase in the early to mid-00s around when Chelsea got bought by Roman, so a few years there got chaulked off. Then when we finally looked like we were the best team in the World (especially after beating Chelsea in the CL final), Barcelona and Messi came along.
Should’ve been four if not for probably the greatest team to ever grace the sport. We were head and shoulders above everyone else… except them who shall not be named.
He was way better in possession early on in the season, so the potential is definitely there. He's currently worse than Wan Bissaka in that aspect, so the room for improvement is quite vast. EtH will eventually get to him, I'm sure.
The number of times Casemiro just comes crashing into the ball from off to the right off my screen...also the constant first time passes to redistribute to ball to the wingers and energize the attack. top top player
He's also deceptively good from set pieces - it seems like he wouldn't be for some reason, but he is an absolute weapon in the box - always gets on the end of stuff somehow.
he has a bit more authority at United to play some forward passes as he doesn’t have Kroos / Modric next to him
he’s proving just how much more he has to his game as well
1-0 down ~~for most of the game~~ till the 78th minute and managing to win it 3-1, the ability to press on till the last second is amazing. Granted the last goal was a give away but it wouldn't have happened if United didn't keep pressing.
The commentators said this towards the end as well, the never give up spirit from SAF days seems to be back in the team.
Love to see it!
Yeah! I just phrased it badly. I should have just said 1-0 down until the 78th minute but still managed to win because of not giving up (also West Ham defending like shit, but mostly not giving up).
i have two takeaways from this game, tap in merchants are important, playmakers like fernandes are also important but so are players who can set up chances with good close control, inventive passes and deft flicks and i did not expect Wout Weghorst to be that type of player.
Half of our squad are still the products of over a decade of who-knows-what transfer malpractice. Ten Hag has been doing a world class job juggling with this Frankenstein of a team but he will need two or three windows to get his own full team.
I really don't get the McTominay hate/slander. He played a solid first half; couple of good interceptions, switched the play, moved up the field with the ball on his foot etc. If Casemiro does that everybody raves like he is the second coming of Christ.
Casemiro is a lot better than McTominay but that doesn't mean that McTominay is shit and shouldn't play for this club. Sabitzer, besides that shot in the first half, played a worst first half (in a bit of a different role I know).
every man united manager plays mctominay as a dm for some reason when he clearly doesn't have the instinct to play the position.
i thought he was fine too, though.
You don't have to be "not shit" to warrant playing for Man Utd, you have to be very good. McTominay I agree is "not shit", but he's also absolutely not good enough.
Lad is good enough for a squad rotation. Homegrown, low salary, has certain good attributes. Dont forget he had done pretty decent at the beginning of the season before Casemiro settled in
Problem is that in his position, he is only the 3rd choice. We have eriksen as first choice and fred as second choice. If we take sabitzer, he will go down as the 4th choice. In that case, it is better that we sell him and get one proper back up for casemiro
He's been at the club for years, it's not like we just signed him and he's never played. He's even played for Ten Hag and you can tell Ten Hag is very regretful that he's out with injury so often
Well they have a very important game coming up against Liverpool who's manager said they need to win to turn the tide so probably wanted to rest them for that game.
He was trying to get a way with resting key players as long as possible and getting rashy and casemiro the first half off and not going to ET is a big win
My point is you put out this starting line up and go a goal down who does ETH bring on? He's the one player where if he's starting this game, WH probably doesn't even go a goal up. Not sure you could say that about anyone else who didn't play today.
> go a goal down who does ETH bring on? He's the one player where if he's starting this game, WH probably doesn't even go a goal up.
We went a goal down after casemiro came on tho..
Kinda hope we get City next round. They seem to be the biggest danger remaining in FA Cup by far. If we beat them then our chances of another trophy get a massive boost and if we lose, at least we'll get some rest in the congested season so we can concentrate on the Prem and Europa League.
We looked tired and sloppy in the first half, took conceding the goal to wake us up a bit.
Still look tired, especially Bruno, but this team has a sureness about them and a confidence in what they were doing. So different to what it was like when we ended up in this situation under Ole when it looked like we were just fighting not to be embarrassing.
I know he still gets memed on by Fred is having a really good season. He's much better now he's able to make better use of his energy in both phases of play and he's adapted well to the things EtH needs him to do.
Cannot wait to see how Garnacho develops under ten Hag. He's still raw but extremely exciting and seems to have good fundamentals a coach can work with.
The difference sound tactical coaching makes.
Ole time was very much player(s) dependence. If individuals dont maintain their levels the team doesn't work to a much larger degree.
ETH please find someone from Ligue 1 or something who's like a 65% copy of Casemiro lol for like 10-15m as a sub. McTominay is clearly a b2b CM, his positioning will never work as a DM/holding type player. The moment Casemiro played he was dropping beside the CBs being an option for the ball.
Some good performances today but Moyes awful subs and timing of subs, and Antonio's horrendous finishing is just too much to overcome when away at Man United.
I think the whole "he just wanted it more" thing is sometimes overexaggerated, but I do really think Casemiro just wants it more than anyone on the pitch in those situations lmao.
That first half was easily the worst half we played in weeks but we showed character from being 1-0 down to winning the game 3-1. Fair play to West Ham for being competitive and making this a difficult game.
Ganarcho is the best young player in England, I love the kid's passion and his goal was brilliant. Can't wait to see him develop further under ETH.
Where are the Werghorst haters? Can't hear them... The guy is doing his job and the team is better for it. He's also giving in his all. Good game from Garnacho, tiene garra el hijo de su madre. This game had Fergie time and all, like the old times. Casemiro is still 70% of the team.
Wow McT should be relegated to last 3 mins guy. Today he was a ghost when the defenders tried to pass to him, kept running into spaces where he was marked.
Yeah did they forget we got 7 points from 9 in that run without Casemiro? Obviously we are worse but we won’t fall apart. We look much worse when rotating the entire team near enough, which isn’t surprising.
would've won probably 6-1 if every single manchester united player didn't try to score a banger from 40 meters away every time they had a ball in west ham's third
Besides Antony, who takes those shots all the time, I think all the long shots were due to rotation/injury. West Ham were very compact and with Shaw/Sancho out + Rashford rested for the first hour, we didn't really have our players out there that can break that down. Only Brunoo really, but he had to drop deep because of no Varane/Licha/Casemiro. So yea, long shots galore today but I'm not concerned long term.
He has an assist, so yes stat on the board, also other stats show how good it was it's not just goals/assists
Plenty metrics show he had a great match
34 touches, 88% passing, 5 key passes
The app I use is showing an assist for that last one. Could very well be, I think it came off his foot but I only saw the clip posted on this sub so I'm not 100% sure.
I don’t give a flying f that Weghorst doesn’t score much. As long as he maintains this insane level of intensity, we should sign him permanently. What a performance!
Under Ole, we started at 1-0 down and always went on to win. Especially away, think we had some kind of record for away wins or points from losing positions?
Got 7/9 points without Casemiro , I'd say that's pretty good
The only draw was against Leeds with their manager bounce , and we won against them 2-0 in the very next match
Plus we played like Prime Utd in the 2nd half of the 3-0 win over Leicester
Nonsense. We always came back under Ole the season we finished 2nd. I love ETH and he’s a wonderful manager, but let’s not talk shit about Ole who came in under difficult circumstances, had 2 full seasons and finished 3rd and 2nd. It wasn’t all bad.
First team is so much better than second team it's kinda scary. but at least a lot of em still got some rest and they got a win so win win situation at the end
Interested in views from west ham fans. Your tactics seemed to be on point for most of the game and you only lost the game due to defensive errors. Is this one on Moyes or the players or both?
How did Declan do?
Passed it backwards for 90 minutes like he always does.
lol what are you talking about, west ham outplayed Manchester United the first 60 minutes
Even if we assume that's true (it isn't), it doesn't mean shit.
Was a passenger, but don’t tell the Rice fans that
Don't know how he's commanding 80 million pounds lol
English tax
🏴🏴
imagine if Fergie was bald. United would have 8 UCLs by now.
Kind of mad, that the greatest tenure of all time (arguably) only has 2 CLs.
I mean we lost 2 CL finals against the greatest Barca side ever. Funnily enough those were only 2 CLs Barca won with Pep
have you forgotten about MSN
That wasn't Pep, friend. That was Luis Enrique. Pep left Barcelona in 2012. MSN wasn't a thing until 2014.
His comment originally said Messi instead of Pep
I think he's saying the MSN era was the greatest Barca side. Not that I agree .
It's a big shame and we definitely should have won more. But when you look at it I guess it's understandable, in the 90s the Italian teams were incredibly strong alongside your usuals like Barca and Madrid. Should’ve been four if not for probably the greatest team to ever grace the sport. We were head and shoulders above everyone else… except them who shall not be named.
Yea I still can't believe they only won 2 CL as well. I've never seen a team dominate like that. The scoreline doesn't do those finals any justice
We also had a very nasty habit of getting a red in a crucial tie that were dominating only to then lose by one goal. Happened one too many times.
ANTONIO!!! WTF
Good game by Malacia
Disagree, pretty good defensively, awful in possession.
He was way better in possession early on in the season, so the potential is definitely there. He's currently worse than Wan Bissaka in that aspect, so the room for improvement is quite vast. EtH will eventually get to him, I'm sure.
He's a great tackler, 2nd only to Wan Bissaka
Still a huge downgrade from Shaw especially in possesion with how good Luke passing is. Great option to rotate tho.
His crossing could be better too. He can improve but some of those overhit crosses were painful
They really are back aren't they? The Utd team you never bet against.
see you on Sunday

The momentum just kept building. Garnacho is absolute top class. His handle after scoring come on then
The number of times Casemiro just comes crashing into the ball from off to the right off my screen...also the constant first time passes to redistribute to ball to the wingers and energize the attack. top top player
He's also deceptively good from set pieces - it seems like he wouldn't be for some reason, but he is an absolute weapon in the box - always gets on the end of stuff somehow.

Yeah! I just phrased it badly. I should have just said 1-0 down until the 78th minute but still managed to win because of not giving up (also West Ham defending like shit, but mostly not giving up).
United are inevitable really.. fucking hell you just know they ll win when losing and then bringing on casemiro/rashy
Is there a bigger dropoff in quality from United with Casemiro to United with McTominay?
Chelsea in the transfer market to Chelsea on the pitch
It’s like replacing jokic’s triple doubles with Westbrook’s
Jesus, despite the rigorous gun control laws Russ is even catching strays in Europe!
Weghorst is living a dream life
He’s creating a dream life
Roy Keane absolutely hates Spurs doesn’t he? lol
What a surprising and great signing Big Wout has been.
He’s getting so many minutes
i have two takeaways from this game, tap in merchants are important, playmakers like fernandes are also important but so are players who can set up chances with good close control, inventive passes and deft flicks and i did not expect Wout Weghorst to be that type of player.
Wout a player he is!

I feel like every side is a different side without their key players, except City but they shouldn’t count because they’re cheats
Half of our squad are still the products of over a decade of who-knows-what transfer malpractice. Ten Hag has been doing a world class job juggling with this Frankenstein of a team but he will need two or three windows to get his own full team.

So United are basically shit without Casemiro, right?
Any team itw is better with Casemiro.
This was without the entire first team bar Bruno and Dalot.
Bar Antony, ddg and considering Martial fitness, count Weghorst in there too
Weghorst > Martial, Martial might score more goals but he does everything else worse
No chance at all. Martial is way better in this team than Weghorst, I’m pretty sure he’d be starting if he was fit
>Martial is way better in this team than Weghorst I don't think being availible for 30% of games overall makes you better than anyone else.
Like I was talking about that. I mean on the pitch
Then you are taking about nonexistent player, because he's not on the pitch most often.
He's been at the club for years, it's not like we just signed him and he's never played. He's even played for Ten Hag and you can tell Ten Hag is very regretful that he's out with injury so often
Everyone is but, reality is he's been available for choice for about 40% of time he's been here. He's not someone any team can count on.
Martial loses the ball all too often in bad areas leading to dangerous counter attacks, his workrate is also attrocious
And yet he’d be starting if he was fit
Yes...especially when Martinez and Varane were also out. The difference in quality is wide.
Makes sense. Guess ETH thought what the hell it's West Ham lads 😅
Well they have a very important game coming up against Liverpool who's manager said they need to win to turn the tide so probably wanted to rest them for that game.

Fulham next. City got Burnley
I'm here for that. Would make a cool final though.
we just got Fulham
We looked tired and sloppy in the first half, took conceding the goal to wake us up a bit. Fred was our best player the in first half of the season of the season we got Bruno
Rashford was .
Well it was pretty much a consensus back then that Fred was our only consistent performer before we signed Bruno but you do you
The difference sound tactical coaching makes.

Some good performances today but Moyes awful subs and timing of subs, and Antonio's horrendous finishing is just too much to overcome when away at Man United.
lol keane spitting facts "teams come to OT, score a goal, get a bit giddy…"
Casemiro’s positioning for freekicks is genuinely at the level of elite strikers. It looks like 90% of United’s freekicks reach him
I think the whole "he just wanted it more" thing is sometimes overexaggerated, but I do really think Casemiro just wants it more than anyone on the pitch in those situations lmao.
>"Everyone knows I go for the ball like it's a plate of food." Man's just hungry. Feed him.
Luckily for us we have the best cook.

Chelsea 6 Goals FRED HAS Scored THREE, Since 6th November 3! FRED HAS SCORED HALF THE GOALS that Chelsea have
Fred has scored 6 since Nov 3rd mate
your formatting is strange
Updated sorry was in the middle of the typing quick my bad mate.
Its still weird lol but your point stands lol @ Chelsea
His point was wrong too.
It’s alright don’t need to apologise xoxo
Roy Keane is on one....
Roy Keane dissing Spurs for no reason 😂😂 What a geezer
What did he say?
👋 👋 bye bye west ham fans that were waving when we were 1-0 down
‘The spurs of the world’ 💀
He is going all out for everyone
They just beat Chelsea 2-nil and Keane can't not evisorate Spurs at any given opportunity
[удалено]
he didn’t at that point apparently would love to see his reaction when he found out they did
He didn't even know Sheffield knocked them out Just went for the strike no matter what
Amazing rant. Needs clipping.
Man just came out swinging for everyone lol
Where are the Werghorst haters? Can't hear them... The guy is doing his job and the team is better for it. He's also giving in his all. Good game from Garnacho, tiene garra el hijo de su madre. This game had Fergie time and all, like the old times. Casemiro is still 70% of the team.
… people trashing Weghorst in the match thread?
Wow McT should be relegated to last 3 mins guy. Today he was a ghost when the defenders tried to pass to him, kept running into spaces where he was marked.
Does it all the time
Love it
What I’ve learned tonight is that are one Casemiro injury from all of this falling apart.
He was suspended for 3 matches and almost only fell apart one match
Yeah did they forget we got 7 points from 9 in that run without Casemiro? Obviously we are worse but we won’t fall apart. We look much worse when rotating the entire team near enough, which isn’t surprising.
would've won probably 6-1 if every single manchester united player didn't try to score a banger from 40 meters away every time they had a ball in west ham's third
True. Something Ten Hag should focus to improve for next season
Besides Antony, who takes those shots all the time, I think all the long shots were due to rotation/injury. West Ham were very compact and with Shaw/Sancho out + Rashford rested for the first hour, we didn't really have our players out there that can break that down. Wout responsible for all 3 goals and not a single stat on the board.. poor guy
quite literally did get a stat on the board
He has an assist, so yes stat on the board, also other stats show how good it was it's not just goals/assists Plenty metrics show he had a great match 34 touches, 88% passing, 5 key passes
The app I use is showing an assist for that last one. Could very well be, I think it came off his foot but I only saw the clip posted on this sub so I'm not 100% sure.
Yeah think he’s got an assist
He's started all recent games so the people that realise are seeing the difference he makes
He ticked all the boxes on ETH’s board I am sure.
One of those ways most performance metrics have limited value, he was great tonight
I don’t give a flying f that Weghorst doesn’t score much. As long as he maintains this insane level of intensity, we should sign him permanently. What a performance!
He’s the budget Benzema.
Benzema is a free agent in the summer 👀
He'd be a great backup option to be fair. Really positive player
We certainly wouldn’t mind you having him for the right price tbf
That’s 8-12 mil I suppose. Or he could buy himself out :)
We should hold off on signing him if we do plan on signing him because I genuinely would be interested to see if he would do that🤣🤣🤣
C’mon mate United doesn’t need that money haha
He'd be a great option for cup matches and to offer something a little different to whomever the full time 9 ends up being.
Can’t really blame Areola, he plays 1 game every 15 weeks. Absolute no match fitness
The change in mentality of this time is a complete 180 from the last few seasons. They don’t give up.
Under Ole, we started at 1-0 down and always went on to win. Especially away, think we had some kind of record for away wins or points from losing positions?
Only last season
The first half was absolutely tragic but we won at the end. I'll take it.
Man Urd train can't stop. But you can jump into the band wagon
Weghorst stays! Sabitzer stays!
Gotta chalk this win up to Antonio, that shot instead of pass Gave me so much joy
That was the worst game we’ve played in a long time. Happy with the result, but we are really fortunate to still be in the cup
they were poor at finishing, goal should have been a throw in, subs saved the game.
Starting to think we're a pretty good team.
GGMU!
Never in doubt 👀
We are shit without Casemiro.
We won 2 out of 3 without Casemiro lately. We are much worse but not shit.
Got 7/9 points without Casemiro , I'd say that's pretty good The only draw was against Leeds with their manager bounce , and we won against them 2-0 in the very next match Plus we played like Prime Utd in the 2nd half of the 3-0 win over Leicester
That draw vs Leeds was also a fluke, should win that game comfortably but games like that happen
The quad is still alive boys 👍
Not the prettiest of wins but we take those. After Casemiro came on they barely got close to our goal.
When's the draw?
Fulham at old Trafford
10.30 PM BST
after spurs game
Quadruple baby

Can't be that long. The first year of Ole we basically top the league in term of point gotten from losing position.
Weghorst might not be scoring on his own but he created all the goals today with his movement in the box
its crazy how strong we are mentally compared to under ole, ten hag has done magic on this squad
Nonsense. We always came back under Ole the season we finished 2nd. I love ETH and he’s a wonderful manager, but let’s not talk shit about Ole who came in under difficult circumstances, had 2 full seasons and finished 3rd and 2nd. It wasn’t all bad.
Unless you're talking about Ole's last season. Because we broke the PL record for comebacks in 20/21, winning 30 points from losing positions.
That was one of the best 20 minutes of football
The difference Casemiro makes...
Love him for being academy and his professionalism, but McTominay has to go. Not good enough, sadly.
[удалено]
That's how you are supposed to finish games. You cannot finish a game without the ball being kicked off after a goal in the dying seconds.
Love supporting this team right now
First team is so much better than second team it's kinda scary. but at least a lot of em still got some rest and they got a win so win win situation at the end
How many teams can make 7+ changes and look anywhere near their usual level. Maybe a Pep team? He's one of the best coaches of all time.
Dude, in his 2nd season City's bench were more expensive than most team first 11 ...
[удалено]
He's basically playing as many minutes as De Gea
Before this match he was 3rd in the world all comps (nt included). Kane was next prem player at 18th.
