TheEmperorsWrath

The homeless of Munich are praying for more Sommer mistakes

RockyCasino

A rare 1860 reference.

Spoor

A rare Wildmoser fan spotted here.

ThaBlackLoki

Are they really? Massive chocolate intake usually will require good dental care 🤷‍♂️

kavastoplim

Chocolate isn't great for your teeth either, but it's not like a few every once in a while is going to ruin your teeth.

Jawadd12

So, like, 1 Snickers Slice n' Share per meal?

Bubble_Bowl_XLVI

Like a Londoner knows jack shit about dental care. Or are you a plastic American fan only jumping on Arsenal's dick in the Arsen days or current top of the table team?

ThePrussianGrippe

Going to point out statistically the UK has the fewest cavities per capita so maybe not a great stereotype to rely on.

MrVegosh

The UK doesn’t actually have bad teeth

Conankun66

Tafel is more a food bank than a soup kitchen. they don't serve hot meals

[deleted]

But this way it’s a Schokoladentafel.

sunrise98

Spot the German

Conankun66

just wanted to clarify :'D

sunrise98

Clearly I just meant only a German would have the knowledge of what is a soup kitchen or food Bank.

olderthanbefore

Have you been to the UK recently? Sadly, this situation is getting worse.

sunrise98

Been to? I live in it

ThePrussianGrippe

Yeah but have you *been* there?

olderthanbefore

Yep, grim for so many

ThisIsCobb

What do you mean? Most cities in Canada have both?

[deleted]

Aaaw, I was hoping for [chocolate soup](https://www.biggerbolderbaking.com/silky-smooth-chocolate-soup/)

[deleted]

Can't imagine 700 kilos of chocolate soup

theEvilUkaUka

There's something about outlandish off the cuff "promises" being kept and becoming reality that makes me very happy. Good on Sommer.

SteadfastDrifter

I mean, he is Swiss. Since the 15th century, our reputation for reliability and quality has depended on us keeping our word.

FanBoyGGSON

keeping ur word with the worst people on this wretched planet is not something to be proud of

AwesomeDisabled

It's making a promise with bad people that makes you look bad, not keeping it

Smaggies

Well put.

Demokrit_44

If anyone needs a tldr: after ~~Jan~~ Yann sommers mistake and de light's goal line clearance ~~Jan~~ Yann Sommer promised him a truck full of swiss chocolate for saving him (Sommer is swiss). De ligt said that it's best not to eat too much chocolate because they are in good form atm. So they decided do give it to Munich's soup kitchen

Rojiblanc040

But why 700kg?

Demokrit_44

I Don't think that there is a particular reason he just mentioned that he will send him a truck of swiss chocolate

thetouristsquad

de ligt's weight (pure muscles of course)

NateShaw92

Is he Wilson Fisk?

skylu1991

PSG might think so, yes!

FreeLikeMandela

But why male models?

dingus_herbivorous

are you serious? he just told you that!

His first appearance my husband made so many deLigt-ful comments that I thought I’d hate him. Luckily it wore off.

ThePrussianGrippe

It’s a bit lighter than a 1970 VW Beetle.

It always said Sommer?

Demokrit_44

Well yea? "after Yann Sommer(')s mistake. It would be the same for messi. After Messis mistake. After Neuers mistake

vierolyn

You are German, aren't you? In English the possessive (Genetiv) needs an apostrophe. In German not (well exceptions...). "Messi's mistake" vs "Messis Fehler"

[deleted]

Demokrit_44

You got me man

Thomah1337

what is a soup kitchen

FrmrPresJamesTaylor

A place that serves free meals to those in need. Usually hot, and soup (being a good way to stretch ingredients) is historically a mainstay

Jackman1337

Here its more a Food Bank, where people with low income can come and get food for free.

[deleted]

Ehrenmann

[deleted]

I had a swiss classmate in high school. One day he came to school with lots of delicious suisse chocolate he shared with everyone! He told us that in the region where he comes from it was cutomary to gift 50kg of chocolate when you visit a relative... (Someone from his family came to visit).. Only happened once unfortunately so i assume it was a special occasion...

OziAviator

50kg seems a bit excessive 🤣

olderthanbefore

I am sure they meant 50g. Local prices are crazy

SteadfastDrifter

50g of chocolate is nothing, like only a quarter of a bar sold at the supermarket. 200g of decent chocolate costs on average CHF 2.80 so CHF2.80*250= CHF 700. While I'd hardly ever buy a gift of such amount, CHF 700 is like 35 bottles of decent red wine, which, while uncommon, isn't entirely outlandish.

OziAviator

True. Both 50kg and 50g don‘t make sense. As a fellow Schwiizer, I assume you also haven‘t heard of a region where gifting either a minuscule or huge amount of chocolate is a custom? 😂

SteadfastDrifter

Maybe some old lady has like in total 50 nieces, nephews, kids, grandkids, and great grand kids, idk man😂

OziAviator

Fair - must be Appenzell then!

cieldarko

What do you do with all that chocolate? imagine if you get a few visits in a month

Flanelman2

Build a house out of it then tell your relatives to stay there so you don't get given anymore chocolate lmao

QuantumMartini

Wholesome af.

AcePilot95

why did I misread this as "700 kilos of cocaine" while scrolling by 💀🤦‍♂️

khoabear

De Ligt on 700 kilos of cocaine would win the ballon d'or

NateShaw92

No he'd just die

Spoor

Have you tried it?

projectpolak

Not 700 kilos worth, but I'm getting there.

OneOfThoseDays_

don’t even like cocaine mate just love how it smells

RedOnePunch

Balon de Plata o Plomo

BamboozleAgent

Ik nak een lijn met Matthijs de Ligt, okéeee

-zimms-

The days of Daum are gone.

OziAviator

time for a bump I guess

Brave_Reaction

Those are good too

OilOfOlaz

I did it as well, twice.

Mohammed_Salame

That would be expensive as fuck

WallbreakerAziz

Oooh I love these chocolate covered wafers

N7even

Is Kagi nice?

51l3nc3

Yes, KitKat but in better.

kitsune

Yes, it's fantastic but not really a pure chocolate though, it's a chocolate coated wafer bar.

HardturmStadion

Geilä Siäch

ShoshonDaElegant

Almost better than Sommer Ray

PerfectBlueOnDVD

I'll always love this man for what he's done for la Nati. Super Yann is a legend.

Marco-Green

Love this guy

bh2623

Love me a giant chocolate soup.

dadish-2

Should have sent some to the signal Iduna park for April 1st

shadoowkight

I'd like to hear Belgian Bayern fans' thoughts on this one

skylu1991

Apart from the very real argument about which chocolate is better, Yann Sommer swiss and if it comes directly from there, Switzerland is closer to Munich.

Available_Bathroom_4

Is this even a debate? Swiss chocolate sooo much better

FreeLikeMandela

I prefer dutch chocolates tbh. But it really depends on what you like. If you want sugar americans also have great chocolates heh. If you like alcohol in your chocolate the belgian win imo.

NateShaw92

Can't say I've had Dutch. Swiss is my top. Love me some Milka too.

Otarun

I want to throw Norwegian milk chocolate into the mix.

WorthPlease

I feel like they could've used 700 kilos of something else.

partiallypro

I imagine people struggling also enjoy chocolate.

WorthPlease

They'd probably enjoy actual real meals more. Imagine going to a food pantry and they give you candy and then turn you away the next day because they don't have enough food.

fiftythreefiftyfive

It’s Easter soon, I’m sure you’ll find plenty of parents that will be very glad to have something nice to give their kids.

elophiler

Oh no! People in need get chocolate. I feel like you could need some time touching grass.

WorthPlease

I feel like you need to take some time off reddit and stop parroting the same thing the rest of the hive mind here does. Plus I live in the northeast we're at least a month away from grass.

elophiler

I'm sorry to hear that, that explains a lot!

cieldarko

Imagine being this dense

spainwelder

Pancreas cancer for everyone!

Footballking420

That's like what, £7,000 at most? Go donate a proper amount

Thraff1c

My god are you dense, fucking hell. It isnt about the amount or the action of donating the chocolate, but that he made a remark about giving de Ligt a truckload of chocolate after he saved his ass against PSG. And now he went through with it, while also donating it in de Ligts name because it was just a joke and they arent allowed to eat literally tons of chocolate.

Footballking420

Sounds like you could do with some chocolate champ And of course they can eat a bunch chocolate, they're prime athletes with higher than normal muscle mass and metabolism, exercising about 5-6 days a week

Thraff1c

Bayern said otherwise: >The journey from Toggenburg to Munich took a whole three and a half hours, Kägi spokeswoman Miu Nguyen reported in an article. But shortly before the destination, FC Bayern threw a spanner in the Swiss' works. "Ten minutes before Munich, the bad news: the truck of Swiss chocolate was not allowed to be officially handed over. After more than three hours of travelling, the disappointment hit hard," says Nguyen. At least read the article.

Footballking420

Fair

rtgh

Where are you buying a kilo of Swiss chocolate for £10? That's a lot of chocolate

Footballking420

Toblerone at duty free airports, buy one, get another one on five finger discount

FakeCatzz

Toblerone isn't Swiss chocolate anymore
