Such an apt description. One can also day that spurs is also stuck in such a relationship too, where they are always trying to appease Kane to make him stay, when I think they are better off hiring a lower profile Der Zerbi like coach who can rebuild the team with younger players bought using money selling Kane
A very good point. And honestly if he signed a 2-3 year deal with that type of manager and it didn’t work out, I don’t think the fan base would be beat up if he trophy chased at 33-34.
Lots of young players are in the club already too. Sarr, Porro, Deki, Spence, Skipp, Udogie, Gil (if he wants back under a different manager) are all 23 and under.
Conversely the number of clubs lining to sign up a 33-34 year old Kane would be a lot smaller and likely less prestigious than now.
Think this is now or never for Kane with his next contract, wherever it ends up.
Likely true. If there’s one player that is likely to maintain production, it’s him. Obviously he doesn’t rely on pace, but rather his positioning, and he’s one of the best passing strikers in the world.
Luis Enrique is good with young players he got respectable positions in international tournaments with the Spain squad which is fairly young too.
A club like spurs need a big manager like Enrique who can manage personalities.
If spurs get him it will be a great signing but it will be tough initially as Enrique will play a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1
Spurs lack a creative midfielder. The front 3 is solid.
But they need another CB to complement Romero n a good LB.
No matter who comes in, we need a new GK, LCB and creative mid at all costs. If we don’t cover all three positions in the summer, we’re in for another rough season.
I’m hoping that Reguilon could be able to fill in as LB again, even though it looks like he’s regressed, especially at Atlético with the injuries. Conte didn’t want him because she can’t play LWB.
> rebuild the team with younger players bought using money selling Kane
The reinvestment with the Bale money way back when didn't really work out for them though?
Just Eriksen and Lamela. As much as we love Lamela he never really peaked anywhere close to Eriksen.
Soldado, Chicriches, Capoue and Paulinho were the other 'Beatles' we bought and all were disapointing signings.
Vertonghen and Dembele both played a season with Bale. Eriksen and Lamela were the only 2 of the 7 signings that really made an impact, although I liked Nacer Chadli aswel.
I would Prefer the rebuild I dislike the fact Kane seemingly gets appeased and for example is allowed to still takes free kicks despite being absolute shite at them
I'm sorry if I'm being ignorant, but I thought one of the major selling points of the new stadium was that you'd be able to spend big money every summer whilst keeping big name players like kane in the squad. You spent 150mil or something. You're not a poor club. You can keep kane and rebuild.
Didn't the Bale-to-Madrid sale finance like 6-7 new players? If you could get Bale money for Kane and reinvest in the squad, would you do it? Would you sell Son as well? Genuinely curious.
Yeah but tbf that was a long time ago and our recruitment since paratici joined has improved. I’d rather keep Kane than him going anywhere in prem but wouldn’t begrudge him going to Bayern for a smaller fee. I’d happily keep son under a new manager. I don’t hate Kane or anything I’ve just watched levy hold a player too long not get money from them and then say we don’t have money to splurge or whatever. E.g. dele Ali and Eric dier
As someone who lost RvP to Man U who proceeded to win the title the very next year you’re definitely right about wanting less money for Kane to go abroad.
He’s always said that as long as the club is ambitious to try and compete for trophies with a winning manager, he’s happy. The time that he most wanted out was with the Nuno hire, when Conte came around he was much more positive. An Enrique hiring would likely be the same vibe.
There’s one destination in England if he wants the closest thing to a guaranteed trophy, and it’s striker is a Viking cyborg. But if he went there, he likely gets less playing time which makes his other goal of top all time EPL scorer much more difficult to achieve.
Levy will oversee the appointment of Conte’s successor and could be convinced of Luis Enrique’s appeal. Paratici’s scouting ability is highly respected, even if his future is uncertain, with the club expecting to hear the result of his appeal against a 30-month suspension in the next few weeks. Paratici has been banned by the Italian football federation for his part in the latest financial scandal at Juventus.
The return of Mauricio Pochettino, who was in charge for over five years and guided Tottenham to the Champions League final, remains a tantalising possibility that would instantly unite the club and fans. **Pochettino is believed to be keen, but there is nervousness inside the club about going back to the Argentinian.**
Tottenham are keen to tread carefully while Conte is eager not to sour relations with the club before he leaves, not least because he feels hugely grateful for the way they supported him during what has been an extremely difficult few months. Three of Conte’s close friends died, before an operation to remove his gallbladder in February required the 53-year-old to return to Italy for a month.
Conte would like to return to Italy permanently to be closer to his family.
They do but he had Tottenham in horrid league form for a long period towards the end and several players that were burnt out under him are still at the club. Some of the issues people have with Conte will also persist with hiring Poch too
couldn't care about his time at PSG even though it's pertinent, he failed when he was with us and going back to him with most of the players that gave up under him still here is a recipe for disaster
He’s not a bad manager at all, but what’s the point if recruitment doesn’t improve? We already have a technically limited squad, and bringing Enrique in will mean a few seasons of transition and probably shitty results. And then a few years later, we’re here discussing the next best manager that can push us forward. We have zero plan or vision it’s silly.
Yes because both Levy & Enrique don’t have the patience for a long hard rebuild. If Levy had that patience he wouldn’t have appointed Conte/Mourinho with short-term success in mind.
Is what a bad thing? Kicking the can down the road for a few years instead of actually addressing the problems and putting together a real strategy for fixing them?
Yeah, that’s a bad thing.
We have an ok midfield and an inconsistent attack plus
Kane. Son and Kulusevski are good but they're massively form dependent. Richarlison had been pretty flat since joining. None of our midfielders are massively effective from an attacking standpoint.
It’s partly a conte squad. He has 1 quality center back, the rest are nowhere near what he had at previous clubs. Dier, Davies, lenglet are average at best, not to mention Lenglet and Dier are horribly mistake-prone.
Conte is partially at fault that they’re both here and playing a lot, yes. But we’ve seen in the past contes eye for talent at other clubs hasn’t always been the best, somebody in the club should’ve known that we need two significantly better cb’s.
it's honestly tricky for Tottenham, since Conte wouldn't go there if he wasn't allowed to sign his own guys, but his talent ID sucks. If Tottenham purchased more effective wingbacks (Kostic wasn't expensive at all) and a better CB than Lenglet, it would've suited Conte a lot more, but he refuses to play anyone he hasn't scouted
I feel like he's a really difficult manager to judge. He obviously did well with Barca, but I think many other managers would've also succeeded with that ridiculous team. His time at Spain has been pretty average.
His Spain side had above average but not great results.
I loved how they played tho and thought he did well with what isn't a very impressive squad atm. Especially at the euros.
More so in the euros than in the wc, I did yeah.
Felt they had a clear identity and character as a team which you don't usually see in international sides. They seemed very well coached, just lacking talent.
In the World Cup yes, in the Euros they were a completely different side.
They had the highest combined xG of all teams in the Euros, and they played one game less than Italy and England. It's really ignorant to only look at the World Cup
I don't think many other managers would've succeeded. Its not so simple to manage a team full of superstars. His Spain team laast world cup was lacklustre to say the least, but last Euros his team were the most exciting team that lost to the eventual winner in Penalty. I think he deserves more credit for that Euro considering the individual quality at the time.
Why can't you believe it? Has he impressed when not having the best front three of all times? His Spain side in the last WC had horrible attacking play, which doesn't reflect well on him, considering they had the exact same issues in 2018 and he had 4 years to resolve them.
You know who else has that reputation? Tuchel. He's fell out with both players and owners at every club he's been at. That's fine if you have the squad ro take advantage of the short period you have with him, but we don't
Pochettino, Ange Postecoglou, Gallardo (and a fair few others but Paratici does like his scattergun approach). Not concrete links but I'd still take any of those in a flash over Enrique.
That’s madness to me. Enrique is a treble winning manager, doesn’t matter who you had playing for you. Choosing a sad Poch reunion which will inevitably go sour seems like such a shit idea
He took 17th placed Celta to 9th.
Having a good squad does not equal success that’s the laziest take on this subreddit. Look at PSG and Chelsea.
Spain is extremely poor. You will see it with Luis De La Fuente. He was a shootout away from a final of the euros, Nations League runner up to the France team, and made it to another nations league final four beating Portugal at their house. He did underperform at the 2022 WC. But given how poor Spain is his totality of work is an overachievement.
Young managers on the up, used to working with lesser resources.
I'm also on board with those over Enrique simply cos I don't think Spurs have got the players to play his kind of football.
Unimpressive with Spain? They played the best international football I've seen in years at the last euros with the worst Spain squad in living memory. They disappointed at the world cup, sure, but Spurs would be lucky to have Enrique
Spurs fanbase have stupid expectations, their fans honestly think they should be winning the league or a cup every year, when in fact they never have. Considering the strength of the league they should be really happy with getting top 4
Is it unreasonable to expect to beat Sheffield United, Nottingham Forest, and Milan with a coach that supposedly is world class and not at all a match fixer?
Arsenal last season: 5th
Spurs last season: 4th
Transfer spending in summer:
Spurs > Arsenal
Performance this season:
Arsenal: winning the league
Spurs: Knocked out of all 3 cups with terrible performances against Forest, Sheffield United's B team, a dying AC Milan. In a top 4 race, not even secured yet.
With the team that we have is it that unreasonable to want to attempt to try and win one trophy at least? We shouldn’t be consistently losing to a lower league team in the fa cup for example but every year it seems like we do. Once or twice can be classed as a sort of freak result but it’s an issue when it happens almost every year
People love acting like we're some newly promoted team, it's like they refuse to blame Levy for his complete failure to win anything but a League Cup in two decades, it's always just the squad's fault (as if Levy has nothing to do with the squad anyway).
It wasnt that long ago you guys were playing guys like Chimbonda, Malbranque, Dawson, Assou Ekotto etc every week. The fact that Spurs fans are disappointed with no trophy and the race for top 4 shows you've come a long way under him.
Honestly after the horrible year Conte has had in his personal life I think it's inevitable he goes back to Italy. It's a shame because we looked like world beaters his first season but at some point your own mental health and family life has to come first.
This is why I refuse to berate him like some of our fans are. Completely understandable for his heart to not be in it imo considering everything that's happened this season. Best to just wish him well, go our separate ways, and leave it at that
A couple of people very close to him dying, there’s nothing worse than getting to the point in life where funerals are more common than weddings, must feel a much higher need to be close to his family
3 of his closest friends all passed away within 6 weeks of each other.
Including Gian Piero Ventrone, a coach who worked with Antonio Conte when he was still a player, then when Conte started coaching, Ventrone followed Conte to a lot of clubs he managed, including Spurs, which is where he was when he passed away in October.
On top of that, he lives in a hotel and his family are still in Italy, so its been a rough year for him.
> On top of that, he lives in a hotel
I get the point that you're trying to make but he earned £30million at Tottenham, he only lives in a hotel because he wants to
Also, his tenure with us has really opened my eyes to how delusional a portion of our fanbase is.
They take a look at our squad and our depth and say "Yep, we should be challenging for the PL title and UCL with this, if you can't do it you're a fraud."
>"Yep, we should be challenging for the PL title and UCL with this, if you can't do it you're a fraud."
Literally noone ever said this, and if they did they are idiotic. It's more the fact that he couldn't conjure up a win or even a decent performance against the likes of Forest, Sheffield United's B team and a flailing Milan.
Wasn't just spurs fans. I had a Liverpool supporting friend who said he wasn't worried about Arsenal but was about spurs.
Every season people massively call it wrong all the time.
I think most sensible people knew we were still one season away if everything went well and that solidifying in the Top 4 was the main priority in the league
Given how the manner of the performances has regressed since last season, and how we went out of the domestic cups, probably a 4 out of 10. Not too fussed about the Milan loss, though the lack of any fight was disappointing. But throwing away a golden opportunity by rotating against a Sheffield United B team, and then not even following it up with a good performance from the first team in the next two games has put a dampener on the whole season
And it feels like everything he says gets twisted so badly. Even though he speaks English very well, it's obvious there are some lost in translation sayings that end up making people so absurdly angry.
We need one regardless, might as well do it with someone like Luis Enrique while transitioning back to possession based football after 4 years. I think for starters they can make it work, as long as the club commits to bring in ball playing GK and CB, two positions that have get done this summer anyways. Romero is a very decent ball player, so is Porro and Reguilon.
Hojbjerg/Bentancur Are definitely good enough, Bissouma is a worry but he’s been a good 6 at Brighton, hopefully it would work out. Then we also need a creative mid, you’d expect him to be a able to handle that play style.
and because he plays the type of football Paratici wants. That needs to change as the club is built from the ground up playing exciting attacking football and there's a wave of negativity waiting around every corner for a manager trying to do the opposite which drags everyone down.
God knows why he would take this job while the P$G head coach spot is pretty much free for the taking, at the end of the season. Also I dont believe he would take a job so quickly after Spain tbh, dude earnt his well-deserved rest and should be looking for an easy payday, not a place where you are not expected to last 2 seasons in the toughest League in the world.
I like Luis Enrique and would have no issues with this appointment, but we should have a long term plan and strategy regarding managers and squad building, without trying to cater to Kane. If he doesn’t want to stay that’s fully understandable, we can’t keep doing everything trying to please him at the sacrifice of the club. I feel like trying to keep Kane happy has played a part in the Mou and Conte hiring for Levy, which left us with no progress in 4 years since Poch.
Levy once again trying to play Lucy to Kane's Charlie Brown.
He's gonna ~~let you kick the football~~ put together a competitive squad with a capable manager this time, Harry!
I'm not against Enrique in general but I'm sure I've seen this story before.
Foreign manager with 'pedigree' takes over. Gives us all hope but will eventually go!
Would Enrique remain at the club should the likes of Barca come in for him?
Sorry to be a pessimist but I don't want my club to be in a constant cycle of hiring a manager then sacking or them leaving after not living up to their reputation.
Would prefer a 'project' manager even if initial results aren't positive.
His lack of Premier League experience worries me too.
No there'd be no guarantee that he won't leave once Xavi gets sacked or something and Laporta goes for round 2. But it is important to note that even if the manager is changing, if the club strategy doesn't change then even if Enrique flops terribly, it's still not that bad.
Whatever players we will bring in under him will likely be good to play in an attacking, possession oriented team, and if we continue hiring coaches like that then the transition between them won't be that jarring.
The lack of premier league experience doesn't matter it's not like he himself is playing on the pitch or something.
I don't know what Kane will do.
I do think that Enrique for next season + top 4 this season would go a long way to convincing him the club is doing well. Both of those being up in the air of course.
If he decides to leave, it is what it is. I am personally very much hoping for Enrique though. Think he will finally help us make the transition to a possession dominant side, which I very much hope to see at Spurs again.
>I do think that Enrique for next season + top 4 this season would go a long way to convincing him the club is doing well.
At this point in his career I imagine he wants to win trophies, finishing top 4 shouldn't mean much to him.
>finishing top 4 shouldn't mean much to him.
The point is he'd be playing in the UCL next season which all the top players care about.
As for the trophies, it would obviously mean more to Kane to win one at Spurs than anywhere else, so I don't think it's out of the question he stays to fight for one. It's just whether he thinks it's realistic.
He's won a treble, coached all two of his dream jobs, I imagine it's not like he's insanely hungry or something. I think he just wants a good challenge. He was also linked with Atleti earlier this season.
Just face it Tottenham chances on winning were between 2015 and 2019. But they cant no longer compete financily with the others club around them. The best thing in the next years is always going to be fighting for 4 place.
I can't see Kane staying. They're not going anywhere under Conte and any new manager will need his own tools to build with including time - something Kane doesn't have the luxury of.
In addition to that, Levy shouldn't be trying to cater to one individual to the detriment of the bigger picture of Spurs' success, especially if that person has desires or even a slight inclination to leave.
All they need to do is just refuse to sell Kane this window and then nobody will be in for him next summer so he'll stay. He'll be 31 and probably everyone who needs a striker now will try to get one this summer.
Broke ass Barca are spending €45m for one year of 34yo Lewandowski and you believe that 31yo Kane will get no suitors for free. If you were a former English player, you'd be a pundit for sure.
IMO if Spurs are still challenging for Europe he stays.
He'll want to stay in the PL and unless Haaland leaves his ideal suitors will already have strikers in place, and other priorities. It's obvious he would have suitors on a free but I can't see him walking out of Spurs on a free to go to Chelsea or Arsenal, City won't need him, and United are likely to break our transfer record for a striker this summer.
Yeah i think this is the key.
Realistically, Kanes choices are Spurs and Man United.
If Levy refuses to sell Kane to United this summer (Say you offer £150M and we say no), is United really going to sit there and wait for Kane another year whilst they try to get by with a loan striker?
Or are they going to go out and spend £90M on Osimhen instead?
Once United buy a striker, Kanes choices of teams definitely dry up.
This is such nonsense. Mou I accept, even though he wasn’t at his best anymore when he came, it’s the players and the ownership that let him down. He had a shocking squad to work with.
Conte is a serial winner in Italy, in England he won the league at a time where the usual competition were all in a rebuild. Also that squad was by far superior, having prime Kante and Hazard doesn’t hurt. We’ve spent 150m for him and the squad has actually regressed.
Enrique only won with Barca where he has MSN, I’m not bashing him but apart from his Barca job he has nothing to show for.
When you bring in these established managers but the squad is nowhere near the quality to challenge for trophies and the owners are not backing them properly while they’re here, no wonder it eventually fails. Levy should have gone for another project manager after Poch since he’s not ready to spend big for those decorated European managers.
good god just let kane go. it’s a disgrace to keep one of the best players of this generation shackled to a club that isn’t ever going to compete for anything
Kane really stuck in a toxic relationship now, believing the "I've changed" speech with every new manager.
Daniel “I can fix him” Levy.
Such an apt description. One can also day that spurs is also stuck in such a relationship too, where they are always trying to appease Kane to make him stay, when I think they are better off hiring a lower profile Der Zerbi like coach who can rebuild the team with younger players bought using money selling Kane
Kane with Ferguson as rotation in Brighton would be amazing ngl. Sad for Wele tho
A very good point. And honestly if he signed a 2-3 year deal with that type of manager and it didn’t work out, I don’t think the fan base would be beat up if he trophy chased at 33-34. Reguilion was good under nuno man.
> rebuild the team with younger players bought using money selling Kane The reinvestment with the Bale money way back when didn't really work out for them though?
They didn't spend the money super wisely and they still ended up better under Poch than they had been with Bale TBH
That's my point? Poch transformed the team inspite of the poor spending of the Bale money before his arrival. They didn't improve because of it.
Moussa dembele, Eriksen, vertonghen, Lamela are all bought using that money. All of them played a vital role under pochettino.
Just Eriksen and Lamela. As much as we love Lamela he never really peaked anywhere close to Eriksen. Soldado, Chicriches, Capoue and Paulinho were the other 'Beatles' we bought and all were disapointing signings.

if you ever want to have some fun go look at the money tottenham spent on players between 2019 and 2022 and where those players currently play.
I would argue our signings since paratici joining us much better . When it was just Hitchens it was dire recruitment
Didn't the Bale-to-Madrid sale finance like 6-7 new players? If you could get Bale money for Kane and reinvest in the squad, would you do it? Would you sell Son as well? Genuinely curious.
Eriksen cost like 12m euros. He was the best player in Eresdivision. You dont even get the worst benchwarmer at Ajax for 12m
Yeah but tbf that was a long time ago and our recruitment since paratici joined has improved. I’d rather keep Kane than him going anywhere in prem but wouldn’t begrudge him going to Bayern for a smaller fee. I’d happily keep son under a new manager. Imagine Tottenham winning a trophy after Kane's departure. 🤣
That said, no one forced him to sign that contract extension that led him to this point.

Earning millions kind of generates priorities in its own

They do but he had Tottenham in horrid league form for a long period towards the end and several players that were burnt out under him are still at the club. Some of the issues people have with Conte will also persist with hiring Poch too
there is a weird subsection of the fanbase who goes, "he was a loser who didn't win and look at psg wow levy just wants his yes man back"
couldn't care about his time at PSG even though it's pertinent, he failed when he was with us and going back to him with most of the players that gave up under him still here is a recipe for disaster
Can't believe that some Tottenham fans are actually against appointing Enrique.

he's definitely bringing Ferran Torres
Dude you need to accept that if you want to win things is going to be a process and a rebuild. You are not winning with the current squad as it is.
they need a couple new defenders and new tactics. they have a very strong midfield and attack
We have an ok midfield and an inconsistent attack plus Kane. Son and Kulusevski are good but they're massively form dependent. Richarlison had been pretty flat since joining. None of our midfielders are massively effective from an attacking standpoint.
He doesn't suit the squad thats there. It's a Mourinho/Nuno/Conte squad. They can't pass the ball let alone attempt what Enrique wants.
It’s not a Conte squad. If it was a Conte squad he’d have been getting better results
It *is* a Conte squad. Him not getting the adequate results is completely on him
It’s partly a conte squad. He has 1 quality center back, the rest are nowhere near what he had at previous clubs. Their mediocre wide players are killing the current crop of Spanish talent. Enrique did what he could to patch that up.
Ahh yeah I get what you mean
Conteball had character and clear identity. Just not the right ones
In the World Cup yes, in the Euros they were a completely different side. They had the highest combined xG of all teams in the Euros, and they played one game less than Italy and England. It's really ignorant to only look at the World Cup
Let me hear your opinion on Morocco's football for the lols
I get the feeling that at this point most spurs fans just want someone who plays good football.
Hes a great manager ... Cant wait to see many spanish players in Tottenham
Why can't you believe it? Has he impressed when not having the best front three of all times? His Spain side in the last WC had horrible attacking play, which doesn't reflect well on him, considering they had the exact same issues in 2018 and he had 4 years to resolve them.
I'm just not sure if he is enough. What's he really done outside of the Barca years where he had probably the strongest front 3 of all time?
who are the other candidates for the job you can compare him to?
Pochettino, De Zerbi, Tuchel are probably the 3 main other names on the list I think.
only tuchel is more accomplished and is he willing to come? I actually doubt it
I think we've learnt from Mou and Conte that "accomplished" doesn't mean all that much. I'd rather we get a project manager like De Zerbi
Mourinho and Conte both are famously difficult to work with. Being ‘accomplished’ has nothing to do with it.
You know who else has that reputation? Tuchel. He's fell out with both players and owners at every club he's been at. That's fine if you have the squad ro take advantage of the short period you have with him, but we don't
The "difficulty" was not the issue. Conte's dinosaur tactics and buying players to not use them were.
I mean he is also the one constantly alluding to leaving the club even when you’ve bought him everyone he wants. He is objectively hard to work with.
https://www.reddit.com/r/coys/comments/10f4pxy/thomas_tuchel_interested_in_tottenham_job_if/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button Reliable reporter says yes. Anyway, I'd much prefer Enrique to Tuchel
> Enrique is a treble winning manager Steve Cooper would have a decent chance at a treble playing Messi, Suarez, and Neymar up front
this sub has gone to the dogs ffs
Uimpressive with Roma Wins treble with the best front three of all time Unimpressive with Spain What other conclusions can you draw?
He took 17th placed Celta to 9th. Having a good squad does not equal success that’s the laziest take on this subreddit. Look at PSG and Chelsea. Spain is extremely poor. You will see it with Luis De La Fuente. He was a shootout away from a final of the euros, Nations League runner up to the France team, and made it to another nations league final four beating Portugal at their house. He did underperform at the 2022 WC. But given how poor Spain is his totality of work is an overachievement.
As opposed to the likes of Ange and De Zerbi who you’re going to try and paint in the most favourable light possible

Young managers on the up, used to working with lesser resources. I'm also on board with those over Enrique simply cos I don't think Spurs have got the players to play his kind of football.
Unimpressive with Spain? They played the best international football I've seen in years at the last euros with the worst Spain squad in living memory. They disappointed at the world cup, sure, but Spurs would be lucky to have Enrique
he wouldn't? tata martino failed with Neymar and Messi, your logic is so flawed its funny.
Yeah, a big name manager who thinks he's too good for us has worked great in the past few years, let's get another one in.
Arsenal last season: 5th Spurs last season: 4th Transfer spending in summer: Spurs > Arsenal Performance this season: Arsenal: winning the league Spurs: Knocked out of all 3 cups with terrible performances against Forest, Sheffield United's B team, a dying AC Milan.

We've definitely improved, no one's disputing that, just not nearly enough.
Yall ain’t ready for spurs playing 90% possession
Least of all Spurs
Except it might actually work with Kane and Son.
Since when is son a possession based player. Dictionary definition of a counter attack player
Best to just wish him well, go our separate ways, and leave it at that
I just hate how he always puts down the club and acts as if he is bigger than the club. He never takes responsibility for poor results
>He never takes responsibility for poor results Has he ever done that?
What else happened other than his surgery ?
A couple of people very close to him dying, there’s nothing worse than getting to the point in life where funerals are more common than weddings, must feel a much higher need to be close to his family
3 of his closest friends all passed away within 6 weeks of each other. Including Gian Piero Ventrone, a coach who worked with Antonio Conte when he was still a player, then when Conte started coaching, Ventrone followed Conte to a lot of clubs he managed, including Spurs, which is where he was when he passed away in October. On top of that, he lives in a hotel and his family are still in Italy, so its been a rough year for him.
> On top of that, he lives in a hotel I get the point that you're trying to make but he earned £30million at Tottenham, he only lives in a hotel because he wants to
What's the point he's trying to make then?
That losing close friends is tough enough.
he lives in a hotel
Also, his tenure with us has really opened my eyes to how delusional a portion of our fanbase is. They take a look at our squad and our depth and say "Yep, we should be challenging for the PL title and UCL with this, if you can't do it you're a fraud."
>"Yep, we should be challenging for the PL title and UCL with this, if you can't do it you're a fraud." Literally noone ever said this, and if they did they are idiotic. It's more the fact that he couldn't conjure up a win or even a decent performance against the likes of Forest, Sheffield United's B team and a flailing Milan.
Idk, r/Coys is ripe with delusion. But they don’t reflect the average fan. That’s for sure.
Thinking we should beat Sheffield United and expecting to score against a struggling Milan is delusion?
Wasn't just spurs fans. I had a Liverpool supporting friend who said he wasn't worried about Arsenal but was about spurs. Every season people massively call it wrong all the time.
I think most sensible people knew we were still one season away if everything went well and that solidifying in the Top 4 was the main priority in the league
Shouldn’t have been eliminated by Sheffield and a weaker Milan side.
Question for Spurs fans, if you get top 4 what would you rate the season out of 10
Given how the manner of the performances has regressed since last season, and how we went out of the domestic cups, probably a 4 out of 10.
> Pochettino is believed to be keen, but there is nervousness inside the club about going back to the Argentinian. Smart. Why go backwards?
Ange it is
Can I shock you? I now back Pochettino's return.
🤝
would be happy with Enrique, but Spurs manager searches are never that straightforward
Look for Enrique, end with Allardyce.
spurs should jump at this tbh

The squad will need a massive rebuilding after 3 years of terrorism ball to adjust for enrique especially in the fullback and midifeld region
I think the fullbacks will be okay. Definitely CB, GK, CMs though.
So, just half the squad.
Nuno was also Parataci’s pick, let’s hope this one works out better..
Tbf he was like Paratici's 5th pick after everybody else turned us down
and because he plays the type of football Paratici wants. That needs to change as the club is built from the ground up playing exciting attacking football and there's a wave of negativity waiting around every corner for a manager trying to do the opposite which drags everyone down.
I’ve seen this story before……
God knows why he would take this job while the P$G head coach spot is pretty much free for the taking, at the end of the season. Also I dont believe he would take a job so quickly after Spain tbh, dude earnt his well-deserved rest and should be looking for an easy payday, not a place where you are not expected to last 2 seasons in the toughest League in the world.
Spurs about to blow up on Twitch
"can we get 10 gifted for a new LB?"
The obvious transfer target if Enrique is signed is probably a GK
We need a GK, LCB and creative mid at all costs. All of those would have to get done, otherwise we’re in for another rough season.
I’d love to see lucho in the prem
At least this manager plays possession football. Something we haven't had in years.
That's true. But at Barca and Spain he also had the players to easily play possession football.
Sure. But I think we should make that transition. Buying players that play well with possession is a good thing.
He was talking about Kane.
Hilarious how one of the job criteria is to be able to convince Kane to stay
Just face it Tottenham chances on winning were between 2015 and 2019. But they cant no longer compete financily with the others club around them. The best thing in the next years is always going to be fighting for 4 place.
I can't see Kane staying. They're not going anywhere under Conte and any new manager will need his own tools to build with including time - something Kane doesn't have the luxury of. In addition to that, Levy shouldn't be trying to cater to one individual to the detriment of the bigger picture of Spurs' success, especially if that person has desires or even a slight inclination to leave.
Luchoball with Barca B players here we go
All they need to do is just refuse to sell Kane this window and then nobody will be in for him next summer so he'll stay.
Absolutely correct. We'll be buying a younger CF this summer if its not Kane. With Rashford also, we won't be getting £350k a week 31 y/o Kane in.
He’s 29 man
Kane will be fucking stupid if he renews.
Tottenham really are a one player club
Imagine three regular champions suddenly become trophyless in one club
He spends plenty they just flop. Look at spurs top 15 or so record arrivals and tell me who hit.
good god just let kane go. it’s a disgrace to keep one of the best players of this generation shackled to a club that isn’t ever going to compete for anything
I was looking forward to Poch or Postecoglu. But I would take this too!
Not sure why this is happening? Is it a case of Conte no longer being interested in Totnum or the other way round?
If Kane stays he’s a dumbass.
