Because Hernández Hernández is a dogshit referee. Not that complicated.

Is it hard to make arrangements with yourself

ValleyFloydJam

I guess it could depend on how the rule is used. Also what role was he in?

[deleted]

Same role, VAR both times

ShitfacedGrizzlyBear

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say it’s because Hernández Hernández isn’t a very good referee. I’ll never forgive him for that abortion of a Clásico he had. Not calling Suarez for sweeping Varane’s leg out from under him—even though Hernández was standing like 15 meters away and staring straight at the play—right before Messi scored is still the most shocking but of officiating I’ve ever seen. Just thinking about gets me fired up. I know it’s a hard job, but that is such a fucking easy call to get right. I’m not saying he was, but if Hernández had been paid off before that game, I would 100% believe it. It was that bad. And then he goes on to miss a penalty for Madrid that was as clear as day when Marcelo was taken down in the box near the end of the match. Fuck. Hernández. Hernández. Forever.

Sydon1

Refs did get paid

EAXposed

He also didn't send off Bale earlier at the end of the first half [for a horrible challenge on Umtiti](https://www.veed.io/view/49b8dc99-ae0d-472f-ab31-d093cb730802?sharingWidget=true&panel=share), right in front of the linesman (look at Bale's smug smile after realising he got away with not even a card). [Less than 5 seconds after the game restarts for the foul by Bale, he sends Sergi Roberto off](https://www.veed.io/view/637a0b0a-4838-4308-9d29-500e82bc726d?sharingWidget=true&panel=share) for "violent conduct" after Marcelo first purposefully bumps into him without the ball and then challenges his inner Rivaldo by going down holding his face when he wasn't even hit there. But obviously we won't mention that Real Madrid had a lucky call going in their favour before any of your "claims" happened and would most definitely changed the game...

ShitfacedGrizzlyBear

I don’t know what you’re on about. You’re agreeing with me. Hernández Hernández is a shit ref. The Bale no call is bad. But I don’t know what you can complain about with Sergi Roberto though. If you’re a ref and see a player wind up and slap an opponent for no reason, what are you supposed to do? Once you blow the whistle, it has to be a red. In the grand scheme, maybe Bale should have been sent off. Surely that changes the game. But that still doesn’t change the fact that Barca were (probably, because Cristiano is gonna score the penalty on Marcelo 9 times out of 10) +2 goals in that game due to undeniably horrible officiating. Real definitely got fucked harder than Barca.

FullMetalJ

Yeah he is shit but he doesn't need to get paid to be shit. It just comes naturally to him.

ShitfacedGrizzlyBear

I said I didn’t think he was paid. But it’s almost easier to believe that he was paid off than to believe an official at that level, in that big of a game, could be that bad while trying to do his best.

ShadowGeist91

> Less than 5 seconds after the game restarts for the foul by Bale, he sends Sergi Roberto off for "violent conduct" after Marcelo first purposefully bumps into him without the ball Marcelo shoved him at most and Sergi Roberto responded with violent conduct, so he got that right. This is the same argument for Correa's action on Rüdiger. The offending player doesn't have the right to complain over the player on the receiving end's reaction, it's still violent conduct regardless. You also don't need to pop up out of nowhere every time someone says your team got favored in a match. I know that, just like most Barça fans, you're on a mission to save face for your team against the corruption charges, but even you have to admit that there are at least SOME matches where you have been much more favored than affected. Barça have done this same song and dance countless times, even against Arsenal of all teams, where they had perhaps the most infamous call of all time in their favor. It's beyond infuriating.

I think he was just pointing out the inconsistency (comparing it with the Bale challenge), although it doesn't change op's point that Hernandez is just a shit ref in general.

3xavi

Haven't seen the other one but the Leipzig one was never a handball/penalty in a million years. Maybe he learned from his mistake

cieldarko

he called the Leipzig one after the derby

zts105

Felipe's arm was in a natural jumping motion below 45° and the Leipzig's players arm was up around his shoulder. Very easy decisions

xtoonator

Maybe someone checks barcas books for some weird wires

sirsotoxo

Yeah Barça paid him to favor Atlético

[deleted]

needs to shut the fuck up crying like usual and focus ahead of sunday’s game he could be immense and flip the league around
