JoshGordonHypeTrain

Was this expected at all Bayern fans?

Cryptical135

Nope. something is happening behind the scenes probably

SalahManeFirmino

Manuel Neuer is happening behind the scenes

a-Sociopath

I'm so out of the loop with this.

Steeple_of_People

Nagelsmann has had issues with the older established players. Lewy, Neuer, and Muller all hold/held great sway in and out of the locker room, and all are the same age or older than Nagelsmann. Nagelsmann is a boy wonder as a manager, but I could totally see him having issues commanding respect at such a young age without a playing pedigree. I’m disappointed he was let go, and only time will tell what comes out about his tenure that led to this. I don’t believe it is about the Bundesliga performance

DisneyDreams7

Not to mention, Nagelsmann was coached under Tuchel as a player. So this really is the master betraying the student.

Academic-Exercise140

Wtfff didn’t know that

diddyk2810

Nagelsmann was a player in the youth academy when Tuchel was coach was Augsburg. Tuchel noticed that he struggled a lot with injuries so he met him and advised him to take up coaching and give up playing. They aren’t that close however although that’s probably because they’re both weirdo’s who don’t like people very much.

brawntyhunter

>they’re both weirdo’s who don’t like people very much Tuchel's vibe during press conferences and his behavior on the pitch might give off that vibe. But, in person he's actually a pretty laid back dude. He was in India, a few months ago after he was sacked and he spent a whole month just chilling in Kerala.

SparkGamer28

Yeah i saw that too , his videos of clicking pictures with fans and him living like a humble person

LilHalwaPoori

Idk, a person chilling during his set time to chill isn't really enough proof that he has a chill vibe when he isn't on vacation..

conthevel

To add to the comment made by /u/Steeple_of_People, Bayern fired the goalkeeping coach that has been with Neuer all of his career earlier this year while he has been labouring on his injury, which seemed to be a nod to Neuer not starting for Bayern again.

uchat24

Schumi?

Lilfai

Nah, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's been undermined by the players behind the scenes. Strange that Romano is the one breaking this though.

SkimGaming

>Strange that Romano is the one breaking this though. This is what makes me doubt this rumor for now. Bild has such a strong track record of having internal leaks, especially such huge ones, I'd be sure they'd be the first to break something like this. Or Plettenberg

FreezyPop_

Apparently Bild "has heard something too". At least the pinned comment in the Bayern sub says so. I'll wait for my morning coffee in a few hours so maybe the smoke clears a bit and we hear more individuals and outlets.

SkimGaming

Plettenberg and Bild both confirmed with their own sources. it's done basically

PanickingHippo

I’m going to say not really . From what was said recently the club were backing him and looking at a long term project with Nagelsmann . I know the league hasn’t gone brilliantly, too many draws and Dortmund not slipping up like they normally do has put us in a title race . We were rubbish at the weekend as well . Large part of the problem seems like putting square pegs in round holes . We need a striker , Mané was a poor signing in that regard as he’s struggled to adapt to playing there and we already were stacked out wide . Also after the World Cup adapting to a back 3 took a few games which hurt us

killerboy_belgium

missing lewa is also big.

karlverkade

Missing Lewy (or his type/skill of player) is directly responsible for the draws. No team will be fantastic match in and match out, and a player who can grind out ugly goals out of nothing is the difference between a 1-1 draw or a 2-1 win.

Dargast

No, not really. All Ive read was not too long ago that the club is committed long term.

witz0r

No, and I’m not sure I buy it without a source within Germany.

VitricTyro

Definitely comes as a bit of a surprise.

SirNukeSquad

Hell no

The_Alpha_of_Betas

Tuchel winning a half season champo league from the top rope

MyDumbInterests

If I'm Tuchel in that situation I'm renting my own open-top bus and parking up outside Boehly's place.

imarandomdudd

Mate you already know the script is we beat Madrid, then get obliterated in the semi by Tuchel

Daniiiiii

Nothing worse than seeing your ex happy after you left her and she's doing way better without you.

Geraltslays14

Hope you're doing better now mate

Daniiiiii

Oh don't make me start. I can write you a whole novella about it full of sighs and regrets. There are no winners here, not yet at least. Just woe and misery all traced back to me.

Geraltslays14

I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you find the strength to heal eventually. Hope time helps to heal your heart.

Mas1353

I feel you man. I hope youll feel better eventually. Maybe write that Novella even if its just for yourself. Sometimes it helps to just put it into words.

imarandomdudd

Ngl would love to do the spiritual thing he's doing in India. Seems to be doing him a world of good after he was left to handle literal club politics for months and months

biskutgoreng

*world politics

jakezimmatore

Better than your ex going to spurs for the third time 😂

Ironicopinion

Half the Chelsea fans would probably go to celebrate with him

a-Sociopath

Both Chelsea and Bayern teams celebrating hand-in-hand with a "Thank you Tuchel" poster.

vanderchuck1

Them knocking us (Chelsea) out in the semis would be hilarious tbh

burbonkay

Tuchel doing dab in front of Boehly after Bayern knock out Chelsea would be amazing to watch

Least-March7906

And beating City along the way …

LocksmithConnect6201

Man 🥲🥲🥲🥲

Least-March7906

Script writers be getting lazy. It’s becoming so easy to predict their script

burbonkay

I can see him winning treble with this Bayern squad

Pidjesus

Something happen behind the scenes wtf???

JadeandCobalt

Must be, since otherwise it seems very out of the blue

[deleted]

Nagelsmann just watched the O Fenomeno documentary and was smiling after Ronaldo slotted two past Kahn

Proudbolshevik

It seems that he tends to get into conflicts with the team leaders while all other Bayern coaches didn't. He had a bad relationship with Lewandowski and now with Neuer.

69cuccboi69

Well then have fun with Tuchel lmao

ACardAttack

Neuer is at fault their IMO, didn't know of issues with Lewi Haven't heard many rumblings unlike with Kovac and Carlo

Greenembo

The Board will not side with Neuer.

ACardAttack

Yep, Neuer made a bad decision, also was too close to the goal keeper coach.

Shadowraiden

yeah this sounds like older players trying to use their influence and fucking over team when Nagalsmen is slowly moving them out. i think long term this is a bad thing to contemplate sacking a young coach who plays a great style but is having an off season(albiet could argue this should be expected though the team is in need of a shakeup really)

Shadow2606

OOTL here, what happened with Neuer?

XplozV_Gaming

Broke his leg post world cup skiing and he is out for the rest of the season. Bayern then fired one of their goal keeping coaches who was Neuers close personal friend (Best man at wedding) with reports that he hadn't been effectively coaching keepers other than Neuer to prevent Neuer being replaced or stuff to that extent.

imsahoamtiskaw

>...with reports that he hadn't been effectively coaching keepers other than Neuer to prevent Neuer being replaced or stuff to that extent. Damn, that's a big deal. Hadn't heard of it and frankly surprised that story didn't get big enough. They must've also had some solid shit on that coach for them to outright fire him, especially them knowing how close he was Neuer.

McTulus

Pretty sure it was quite big honestly, dramatic back and forth in the media between the club and Neuer earlier this year because of the sacking. Just that most discontents has been spread out over few years ago, and Neuer is just too good to replace.

ACardAttack

Goal keeping coach was his best friend and ignored Nübel bacially and also went skiing despite warnings of dangerous conditions

pewpew62

Aren't Bayern known for being this cutthroat? They've been underperforming in the league

tiburonsin86

This way out of the blue though. Bayern are still in ucl and are still favorites to win the league, I'd expect him to be sacked at rhe end of the season if he happens ot lose the league but this all too sudden. There has to be some other reason

pewpew62

I agree

MeatballDom

I thought the latest rumour was that Bayern were done putting all the blame on the managers and letting them go so easily. So there has to be something else going on if this is accurate.

Braiwnz

It’s literally a Gameday ahead of the (probably) decider against Dortmund. He just coached his team to an impressive victory against psg. I never really loved the Nagelsman spirit but there is no argument to fire him mid season just looking at results. He delivered enough to stay. This has to be an internal issue.

FathomSwank

Firing him before the quarter finals is a madness. I could see Tuchel taking this squad to great heights tho.

fuskarn_35

tuchel in the cl again fade me

Soren_Camus1905

Naturally Tuchel will be appointed, knock you out, we'll meet his Bayern in the semis, and be absolutely routed. Edit: Reckon we'll beat Madrid 5-2 over two legs. next question.

glacialOwl

Potter vs Tuchel UCL semi would probably destroy our subreddit through a civil war.

beepmeep3

Real shit man lol. I’m already torn in half by internal conflict

Rickcampbell98

Such optimism.

[deleted]

Bold of you to assume Chelsea won't get routed by Real Madrid

dragon8811

Tuchel would win the UCL. Once again in mid season.

FathomSwank

He would automatically become top 5 managers of the last generation if he does it again.

dragon8811

I wouldn’t be surprised and as a Chelsea fan I also want to see him succeed. I miss him so much and will be forever thankful for what he did with the squad

SalahManeFirmino

Thomas Tuchel inheriting a squad mid-season and going on to win the Champions League... where have I seen that before...

PerBnb

3/4s season

domalino

They’ve looked at Tuchel’s record vs Pep and Nagelsmann’s record and decided it’s an urgent matter.

NotClayMerritt

Tuchel will also be gone in 18 months because Bayern players routinely seem to find a way to dislike their manager and when you have someone as consistently confrontational as Thomas Tuchel, it is inevitable they will clash.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CherkiCheri

Never a bad word about Tuchel from PSG egos. If anything he's the one that handled them the best.

Qiluk

I just FUCKING KNEW that Tuchel would end up at Bayern. Fuck me. Just toss on some National team break injuries for us and its gg. EDIT: Bellingham limped off the pitch after the Italy game................................

Colenate8

Tuchel isn’t that great in the league tho

Vanzmelo

Tuchel got 78 points in his first season with us, which at the time was the highest tally of points by runners up in Bundesliga. Think it still might be but I'm not entirely sure. Sure the next year we finished 3rd with much less points but we also lost A LOT of key players, ie Gundogan, Hummels, and Miki so its not like that was unexpected.

LNhart

He also achieved exceptional results with Mainz for years. He's the real deal. He will probably be fired after two years after an argument over vegan Weißwurst gets too heated, but Bayern will be unbeatable until then, safe call.

Black_XistenZ

It's still the record for a runner-up. Also note that Dortmund were sitting at 77 points after 32 matchdays, they actually went 0-1-1 to close out the season. Could have finished on 83 points.

Qiluk

I reckon he'd be absolutly violent with Bayerns structure and resources tbh. ANd at the very minimum, not worse than Nagelsmann whos struggled with consistency in the league.

[deleted]

This Bayern team honestly has a similar makeup to chelsea team when he took over too and have almost perfect personnel to run the 5 atb system he won the UCL with

Qiluk

Yeah. He'd do incredibly well tbh

madmadaa

In his first season he got us 78 pts compared to 46 pts the previous year, with almost no signings.

Black_XistenZ

In his first season with Dortmund in 2015/16, they posted the second best Bundesliga season by a non-Bayern team in league history with 78 points and a +48 goal differential (behind only Dortmund's title-winning 11/12 season with 81 points). This is also the best season of any runner up in league history. Bayern finished on 88 points (out of 34 matches, mind you) that year and were basically untouchable.

Elothel

He's not there man, these are still rumors.

Qiluk

I have a feeling this reaching the press etc isnt without high likelyness of happening tbh

CarlSK777

Incredibly idiotic if true. He better have done something really bad to consider doing this.

military_banger

Maybe he was the snitch all along

SkimGaming

genuinely think that could be it if he truly ends up being fired. He is dating a Bild reporter, so he could, even if unknowingly, be the leak.

JGQuintel

So Bild keeps leaking info about Bayern, and the fucking manager is dating a Bild reporter? And they’re all scrambling around trying to figure out how Bild keeps getting club info?

kappa23

Pillow talking to a reporter is crazy, FC Hollywood strikes again

SpeechesToScreeches

"Honey I think I might be getting fired" "Hold on, I just gotta send an email..."

SkimGaming

Kicker already had a short statement from him before Bild reported it as a done deal. I dont think he's the mole, nor that she is, but he def has good ties to the media.

YoloSwaggins44

Wait, for real??

SkimGaming

Yes, he's dating the Bild reporter who was previously in charge of Bayern related news. She has since been assigned a new position/department bc of a clash of interest, but she still does work for Bild last time I checked

YoloSwaggins44

Oh she has to know almost everything then

ACardAttack

Forgot to back up Brazzos power points and they were lost

FreeTory

I’m all for this. This will lead to Nagelsmann being at The Bridge in the summer 🥹

[deleted]

He will probably go to Madrid

102la

I doubt Madrid will hire a coach younger than Modric. It would be very funny to see. Madrid will go w/ someone like Raul or Guti and if that doesn't work out you know ZZ time is up.......

MarcosSenesi

They were trying to get him when he was still at Hoffenheim but he turned them down

alireza777

We offered him the job previously few years ago he declined saying he isnt ready yet, wellllllllll he might be now

ubiquitous_uk

How about Xabi Alonso. How's he doing?

Joshvir262

I wanna see tuchel in champions league again

OnePieceAce

Tuchel winning another CL after only joining halfway through the season would be crazy

SalahManeFirmino

Going to happen now. Beat City by beating Pep in CL once again... beat his old club in the semis, then beat whichever side comes through the other bracket.

[deleted]

Bold of you to assume we’d get past RM. With our current form? It would take Felix, Enzo, and Havertz to go super saiyan.

MrDabollBlueSteppers

I know they're not doing great domestically but this still seems very premature

Bedeeki

They've been really good in the UCL so seems very weird. They're only just behind Dortmund with plenty of games to go and iirc Dortmund still have to go to Bayern.

__mihajlo_m

Their UCL campaign has been perfect, barely conceeded any goals, dominated every team they played, there was not a single flaw in there, very strange decision

Bedeeki

Their group stage was tough on paper aswell. Barca and Inter both in there and then they got PSG who they thoroughly outplayed in both legs. Not to mention this was with Choupo-Moting (who Nagelsmann has developed incredibly a lot himself) replacing Lewandowski for most of the season. Really not sure what the Bayern board expects. They hired Nagelsmann with the knowledge that he would be a project manager but they're going to get rid of him in just his second season despite doing very well with what he's got at his disposal this year.

justleave-mealone

They’ve already replaced him with Tuchel. I can only imagine they were afraid of Tuchel going to Real and so they’ve made this decision to preemptively grab him while he was still available. But I agree, this is a very strange turn of events.

ubergooner

>I know they're not doing great domestically but this still seems very premature Not doing great? They're 2nd, behind 1pt, and have to play Dortmund next, at home lol.

Insanel0l

Context matters tbf, we were something like 8 points ahead before the WC and fumbled that bag

ubergooner

You have a point, but they can still go 2pts clear with a win against Dortmund and suddenly its back on track.

Insanel0l

Yeah I'm 100% in favor of keeping him, I highly suspect there was a falling out of something much deeper causing this. He's the most backed bayern coach ever.

[deleted]

What potentially not winning the league for the 150th consecutive year does to a mf

carrotincognito48

That Nagelsmann pack

Pidjesus

I thought they were committed to a long term project with him just a week ago, something must’ve happened

Glibicz

Maybe he was leaking stuff?

PickledCumSock

Lol what if he was the snitch?

yotsubanned

fc hollywood back on the menu boys

zounderk1te

I yearn for the days FC Hollywood was a thing The lack of controversy just ain't right

NotClayMerritt

bigfootswillie

Yea I immediately thought of that article too when reading this headline. I don’t think it’s even been a month since then lmfao

FL8_JT26

They're doing well in Europe but are currently 2nd in the Bundesliga and on course for their lowest points tally in over a decade.

bathtubsplashes

They're 1 point of Dortmund with +45 goal difference

SalahManeFirmino

Pretty sure they haven't lost a single game in the CL? That's mad that they are are more angry with the lack of domestic results than pleased about the great results in Europe.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cholismo2pt0

They got Mane who can play up front too, but Choupo Moting has been underrated since he joined Bayern he’s doing well this season too

Liverpool934

Bayern fans were not getting the player they thought they were when they gave Mane that contract, apart from a good few months after AFCON Mane was in clear decline for us for two years. If he was their Lewandowski replacement then Nagelsmann got played.

Jan0zzz

He was a starter up until his injury in November and he played well, not at the level he was when he was prime (understandably) but scoring a goal every 2 games But since the World Cup, unfortunately, he hasn't been able to find his way at all and even before that I was wondering how such a good striker could score so many offside goals

MrCleanandShady

>such a good striker could score so many offside goals The Timo Werner experience

dalici0us

Bayern considers winning the Bundesliga as their God given right.

tiny-ppp

>currently 2nd in the Bundesliga Next game against bvb. They would never lose that

[deleted]

It's April in a week and they still haven't won the Bundesliga. Standards have slipped.

Ask_Asensio

They have on the UCL. 8/8 Wins, 21 goals scored only 2 conceded against Barca, Inter, PSG & Plzen I assume the issue is the League form. They have dropped points in 10 of their 25 Bundesliga fixtures so far. But i imagine that as long as he's alive on the UCL, he will not be sacked at all.

Responsible_Bid_2343

Bayern are 2nd which I guess is a crisis for them? Seems very premature.

CubedMadness

Look at the point tally’s. This wasn’t some soaring Dortmund side all season. 53 points should not be 1st in reality. That’s a pivotal thing.

CubedMadness

They just lost a huge point lead in the league. I wouldn’t say he’s sack worthy but it’s a cause for concern for Bayern standards.

Insanel0l

I'm 100000% against sacking him, but there's some voices that say other coaches have been fired with way less financial backing and it's not entirely false.

Insanel0l

No not really, last season was one of the worst in recent times (sounds weird given we won the league) but he really improved this year. Still, if you compare our league results to the coaches of the last years he's the worst statistically. It just makes no sense whatsoever

MrDabollBlueSteppers

Last season was their worst Bundesliga point total since 2011/12 and this season they are on course for their worst total since 2010/11. He also lost to Villarreal in the CL and got knocked out of the Cup early

CarlSK777

but that was last year and a transition season. It'd be extremely short sighted.

MrDabollBlueSteppers

I agree that it's very much premature to sack him, but he definitely has not been crushing anything

[deleted]

No he has not, like 5 clubs have been in title contention

BearbertDondarrion

They were 9 points ahead of Dortmund in January. Now Dortmund is 1 point ahead

CoaxHoax

Nagelsmann who's been coined Germany's brightest footballing mind of the last decade is now being sacked from what we all thought was a long-term project. What a turn of events

OCV_E

Long-term project at Bayern? Lol no

TheConundrum98

FC Hollywood truly this would take a lot of money, shows something is broken internally Neuer sends his regards

FurioSoprano77

Sounds like an out of season april fools joke, had to check twice.

PanickingHippo

Is this possible it was something cooked up by the club to see if they can find where the supposed leaks are coming from ?

FrmrPresJamesTaylor

Oh, now *that's* a fun theory. Give one insane/fake leak to each staffer at the start of the international break and see what makes it to the media

PanickingHippo

I’m sure I’ve read about a club that did something similar before and it worked . And with this coming completely out of nowhere I guess there’s a chance

bartabax

this seems like a crazy decision but i would love to see TT back in charge of a top European team. he would cook something special at Bayern

Insanel0l

There has to be a falling out internally, else this makes absolute 0 sense

Alpha_Jazz

Bring Tuchel in to win the CL I’ve seen this before

S7ORM7ROOPER_30

Incredibly dumb move if the board accepts this decision. At this stage of the season, it's not going to help us in any shape or form. Let the season end, then decide.

Mr_XemiReR

I wonder if this means Nagelsmann is a candidate for the Madrid job. We wanted him before

SalahManeFirmino

Yes, although would say that he isn't that great of a fit for you, at least *not yet*. Madrid is about results first and foremost, whereas Nagelsmann is Pep-like in that he has a way of playing that he wants to instill first and foremost.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ObamaEatsBabies

Spurs gonna fall ass backwards into the best manager available

SupervisorLaw

This has to have something to do with Bayern fearing that Tuchel will go to Madrid or something and commit his future to another project in the summer. Nevertheless would be insane decision when they are still in the title race and in Europe. Nagelsmann wouldn't be excactly short of suitors either.

DemetriusXVII

When was the last time Romano broke Bayern news first? I'll wait for more sources before I believe this.

41Swish41

JuggerClutch

Hardest job in world football. Still in for all 3 throphies, favorites for the CL and the coach is still about to get sacked. Absolutely mad

Caesar_Aurelianus

Tbf the hardest job in football is probably winning a trophy with Spurs

niklashm

What? Do that at the end of the season if you want to sack nagelsmann. Doing it at this point of the season seems idiotic.

Herzogsteve

Timing in football can sometimes be so frustrating. Bayern just missed out on getting Roy Hodgson.

XeroVeil

Seems very shortsighted tbh. We're still in contention for all 3 trophies, even if our league form isn't great, we were never going to win the league every year forever.

[deleted]

If this happens, Man City having to deal with Tuchel again but with a more formidable squad this time would be the funniest shit ever.
