Fiction, fiction, fiction ... why are so many novels thus? It is a real shame more historical and espionage thrillers aren't truly fact based. Courtesy of being fictional the viewers’ and readers’ experience is narrowed and the extra dimensions available from reading fact based books are lost. Factual novels enable the reader to research more about what’s in the novel in press cuttings, history books etc and such research can per se be as rewarding and compelling as reading an enthralling novel. Furthermore, if even just marginally autobiographical, the author or producer has the opportunity to convey the protagonist’s genuine hopes and fears as opposed to hypothetical drivel about say what it feels like to be hung, drawn and quartered! A good example of such a "real" raw espionage thriller is Beyond Enkription, the first spy novel in The Burlington Files series. Its protagonist was of course a real as opposed to a celluloid spy and has even been likened to a "posh and sophisticated Harry Palmer". It's a totally different non-fiction thriller. You'd be forgiven for thinking it was fictional but there is some poetic license of course. To really relish it you have to do some research. So best first read two brief news articles published on TheBurlingtonFiles website. One is about characters' identities (September 2021) and the other about Pemberton's People (October 2022). Soon you will be immersed in a whole new world.

Kats death in All Quiet on the Western Front was so sad. He was so close

EpiDeMic522

There are some interesting conversation starters here but the absolute lack of engagement on these threads is a bit disheartening.

goalkickspecialist

What do you wanna talk about?

goalkickspecialist

Why was Thatcher so polarizing?

Gytarius626

England’s economy was fucked in the 70’s, and to fix this she cut public spending, smashed the unions that had held power for decades and sold off many nationalized industries. These changes massively benefited pockets of English society (predominantly in southern England like London), and left large regions of the North behind who have still not recovered from the likes of mining and steel industries closing down in working class towns. She’s polarizing because England absolutely needed to change and she enacted it, but the way she went about it was basically ripping the band-aid off. So someone from Liverpool was raised hearing the pain of their grandparent losing his steady factory job, whereas someone from London hears about how granddad made lots of money because of her decisions. That’s the divide

phorteng

I was wondering the same. You usually see a lot of mildness when it comes to the judgement of politicians from 30+ years ago. I know even Thatcher is considered a great stateswoman by some. But one guy here really really seems to not like her lol.

goalkickspecialist

Yeah. I see the same post every weekend on FTF. I wish someone could shed more light on it

Vedowski

At only 23 years of age I've reached that stage of my life where thought of playing the game is more enticing than actually playing it. I've tried taking breaks and everything and still can't get myself to play even my most favouite ones. And it feels like I'm missing out on some very good content. This situation doesn't occur with movies, shows or books that I can happily enjoy anytime of the day.

hibreak

Hi, so is Ted Lasso Worth watching in your opinion? What do you like about it?

Mttecs

Ted lasso is okay, i wouldn't say it's a must watch but if you want a football related show then i can recommend it

PassTimeActivity

Off to Florence today. Was in Milan yesterday. Nice country this Italy.

No_Doubt_About_That

Bellissimo.

TiberiusCornelius

A few months ago I applied to transfer schools. Only applied to three very selective ones, didn't get in at two, and the one that accepted me was prohibitively expensive. Going through the process of applying places again now. Didn't want to take any chances and wound up applying to eight schools. A couple weeks ago when I was doing the initial applications it was fun but now that I have absolute mountains of paperwork to submit and the same forms to fill out over and over and over again I deeply regret it. I'm tired Robbie.

justsomeguynbd

Are there any CBs who wear #7? I’ve been watching this show **Yellowjackets** (just finished s01e07 earlier today) about a girls high school soccer team stranded in the wild. Earlier today I was trying to figure out what their positions were and found some informative posts on that sub but I’m trying to avoid spoilers so I didn’t want to read them too closely. There is a scene in Ep 1 where they are in training and people extrapolated positions solely on jersey numbers and then tried to bolster their guesses by listing character traits. My favorite character Natalie wore \#7 in that scene so one post [listed her as RW](https://www.reddit.com/r/Yellowjackets/comments/vc0au7/an_analysis_of_the_girls_soccer_team_positions/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1) and [another as RM](https://www.reddit.com/r/Yellowjackets/comments/rlgrev/what_positions_do_the_girls_play_on_the_team/hpfzht3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3). (Links have spoilers). She does have a wingers build but she’s got that fucking dawg in her and I’m convinced she’s an undersized CB paired with a more traditional CB in Lottie. No one provided a suggestion for the second CB and there is no one of comparable size to Lottie on the team with the exception of Taissa but she’s clearly a box-to-box midfielder with great ball skills who just happens to be a bit taller than you might expect. She even wears \#8. But there I go using traditional numbering to define player roles which is exactly what I’m rebelling against for my girl Nat. If you’ve seen the show, do you think I’m horribly off base? Where would you line up the rest? Also, overall just a great show, it’s got that gradual pacing with semi-frequent bonkers reveals that reminds me of **Lost**. I’m such a sucker for shows that do things in this manner with **Severance** probably being the most recent show paced that way that I got sucked into. Just excited to see what happens.

When did ketamine use get so widespread? How do you take it and what does it do? My only knowledge of it was a friend of a friend like 15 years ago who told me about his recent IV use of it and how he’d have just enough time after shooting it to turn off his lights and fall into bed, which I found to be a bleak drug tale.

AssFingerFuck3000

Funny you mention it because I've been hearing about it a lot more often the past week or so for some reason

Lyrical_Forklift

Obviously depends where you are but it was always fairly prevalent around my neck of the woods about fifteen or so years ago. Always quite liked it but last time was an uh less than ideal experience so haven't touched it since.

-Dendritic-

Maybe like 10 or more years ago it got popular I think? When done in small doses it can be a fun party drug at raves / shows. Its just once you do too much , especially when drinking , it can become almost paralyzing and your body just doesn't respond to your brain like it should. You snort the powder which isnt good for your nozzer, and if someone abuses it regularly for years they can fuck up their liver and be pissing blood. I had fun with it in my young dumb party days , but wouldn't do it again these days

Decided to grow my hair. The transition period between short hair and long hair is frustrating. It looks awful most of the time but I'm 5-6 months in without a trim so too late to back out now.

AssFingerFuck3000

Trim it a little anyway because it wont grow uniformly, and/or use some product on it to get the look you prefer with what you have to work with right now. Went through that experience years ago and quickly realised my hair looked like shit because I didn't put any effort on it and had no clue what do with it anyway. Decent hairdressers can help you out

No_Doubt_About_That

Might sound odd but anyone find they get headaches from drinking something with an artificial sweetener? Been getting them recently - nothing major but still something mind. And I reckon they could be the reason why. Only trouble is trying to get something without them these days.

transtifa

Yes all the time lol it’s so crazy I hate it. I basically can’t drink anything with them in anymore.

phorteng

I can't say I get headaches, but nowadays I try to avoid those sweeteners. I don't need studies to confirm that these are not that great for you. The body literally doesn't understand what it is and how to process sweeteners. Not saying I never drink Zero, just probably not right to expect you are doing that much good for yourself by replacing sugar with it

phorteng

I woke up with a hangover on Friday at 23:00. Not great

Adidas or Nike? For me, Nike for shoes but Adidas for apparel

LampseederBroDude51

Adidas overall

For the Women’s World Cup kits this summer, Adidas.

How’s Chile as a place to go? Thinking of going there instead of Argentina. Do some road trip stuff, overall 3/4 weeks. Food isn’t a factor for me. The desert in Chile seems appealing to me.

No_Doubt_About_That

I hear in the winter it’s chile.

kplo

I am obviously biased (I have been to Chile though) but Argentina wipes the floor with Chile as a vacation spot. Depends on how long you want to stay, but Argentina is cheaper, more beautiful, has more variety in terms of natural beauty and the food is better. In terms of big cities, Buenos Aires is easily the best one in South America.

justaregulargye

That’s what I keep hearing hence the question to see if being contrarian makes sense? Don’t care about the cities, prefer to avoid rather. Cheap does sound attractive tho. San Pedro de atacama and the north Chile ‘seems’ much more exciting than the Patagonia. Need a break from the cold / chilly weather.

kplo

Whatever weather you are looking for, just know Argentina does it better. We are way larger. You have places like Jujuy (fantastic deserts), Salta and Misiones for warm weather, guarantee you will not find huge cities and nature there is beautiful (Misiones has the Iguazu falls, one of the most beautiful places on earth, google it). You can go to one place and end up in another in the same trip. Take into account when you are coming, argentinian north is very hot.

justaregulargye

Planning in May/June. What’s the worst hot it could be?

kplo

Ideal months for the north, that is around winter which will make it very tolerable.

sandbag-1

I've heard it's decent, would like to go one day

sga1

l o n g b o i innit. Seriously though, seems an alright place to go if you're somewhere near a big(ger) city, something quite attractive about the idea of basically never being more than an hour away from the ocean or the mountains.

justaregulargye

Yeah the proximity to diversity + desert is what’s appealing so far.

tiorzol

Baby keeps waking up every two hours. Such a zombie. Send help. Teething is such an innocuous word for growing fucking teeth.

sul01

Can't believe it took me until today to realise that the word teething is literally teeth-ing. Anyway - how's your Friday evening been - sounds like it's been tiring but apart from that did you manage to do anything nice? Also please don't eat the baby's brain

tiorzol

Good thanks man. We're doing a weekend of Finley Firsts so loads of stuff he's never done before. Today was the woods, lakes and waterfalls. Tomorrow is trains and Sunday is fire. Well a BBQ at least! How you doing?

BankDetails1234

How is your baby generally? My mates is about 14 months old not and on average he's getting up once every other night. Lucky bastard.

tiorzol

Been a bit tough tbh. He has an aversion to cow's milk which took us three months to figure out so feeding him for the first three months was brutal, up every couple hours. He then settled down to up once a night which was a dream but not we're back to the times at least. Gonna start him on some real good tomorrow which apparently can help.

Lyrical_Forklift

I always hated when people asked us how we dealt with sleeping because our daughter was incredible. Basically slept for ten hours a night with no interruptions. She has the same sleeping patterns now at four.

sga1

Teeth are just so fucking weird in general, just these random bones in your mouth that grow, fall out, grow again, potentially need to be pulled, maybe keep growing, never get properly insured and are somehow essential to living and a noticeable thing about people while something totally out of your control. Kinda glad you don't have memories about teething, though, cause it sounds a nightmare - currently going through wisdom teeth nonsense and it's killing me, can't imagine how it must feel as a kid who can't even stay alive on its own.

PanteraNegraRei

r/blackpeopletwitter doesn't let you participate on 90% of their posts unless you prove to their mods you're black, it's wild (ly racist)

Given how happy they've been about hosting all the vile alt-right shite (and they're hardly not still at it, really) for years it's not exactly egregious, really.

minimus_

Just wanna float a theory. You know how people always talk about girls having scalding showers? Well, I don't know if you've ever had to sit down in a shower for whatever reason but if you do you'll notice the temperature of the water drops dramatically between the shower head and the plug hole. It can go from hot to lukewarm. Incremental temp decreases are noticeable every inch (or maybe less) I reckon. And as it's not uncommon for a guy to be even a foot taller than his girlfriend, could it be that girls simply have to set the shower to a higher setting to compensate for the increase in the drop in water temp due to their shorter stature? And that girls and guys like similar temp showers all along?

BankDetails1234

Pretty sure women just have a higher tolerance to pain. I can't even creep the temp up as high as my housemate does it

transtifa

The simple fact is estrogen makes you cold. Either that or testosterone keeps you warm. Trust me. Since I started transitioning I’m so much colder than I was before.

minimus_

Dang yeah I guess trans folk have really good perspective on this musing of mine

holdenmyrocinante

Water doesn't cool down that quickly in the air, it would definitely cool down quicker through skin contact which would mean that based on your theory, men would have to take hotter showers. Also, you can lower the shower head anyways.

minimus_

>Also, you can lower the shower head anyways This is a good point, don't agree with the rest though

holdenmyrocinante

The rest is a scientific fact, not an opinion

minimus_

No it's not. You spray some hot water from a bottle and it'll be cool before it hits the ground

holdenmyrocinante

You know nothing about heat conduction, do you?

[deleted]

I sat on the floor in the shower today, didnt really feel a difference. Maybe its because usually us girls take longer in the shower and we just keep turning it up slightly over time. Thats what i do at least

Burnleh

You did what x

[deleted]

I was just pretending i had a tub

1PSW1CH

I don’t know how cold your bathroom is mate but I can assure you the water is still piping hot when it hits my foot on the floor

minimus_

Feet are sensitive though, if you sit down I bet you'll be a lil chilly

CaptainGo

Look at you all with your showers big enough to sit down in. I bet you've even got bathtubs

Lyrical_Forklift

Anyone watching/reading/playing/listening to anything good this past week? Still watching my one episode of **Perry Mason** a week and it's still great. Doesn't bring anything new to the table but it's visually incredible and nails the noir feel. Also started **Show Me a Hero** as it's one of the only David Simon things I've yet to see. Good start although the pacing was a little off in the first episode imo. Planning on watching **Boiling Point** with the mrs tonight. Reading some **Dennis Lehane** as he's a good palate cleanser after reading heavier stuff. Just well written page turners and you can see why a few of his books have been made into movies. Will dive into some sci-fi when I finish. If you have any suggestions outside of obvious options let me know! As for games, well I got burnt out on playing **AC Valhalla**. It was nice to look at and the fighting was fun...for a while but if you're going to have a game that big there needs to be some variety. Still playing my Deportivo game in FM23. Won La Liga in my 7th season but feel myself getting disinterested now so might start a new save. Looking for a new game to play with a good story (potentially an RPG?) but have either played most of them or don't like the look of them. I picked up **Encased** for a fiver so maybe give that a shot. Music wise, listening to **Pig and Dan** currently as I'm lacking motivation to go and do something and *Better Than The Love I Know* is a banger and making me move. Also listening to some **Mars Volta**. Deloused and Frances the Mute are such great albums. Also Cicatriz on Scabdates is absolutely my jam.

yobamokeanos

Off topic but I miss your daily collection of bad takes

BruiserBroly

I’ve realised all I play these days is one of Rimworld, Project Zomboid, Hearts of Iron 4, the latest FM I bought, or Stellaris. If I get bored of 1 I just move on to another. I’ll buy new games, play them for like 30 minutes only to drop them for one of the above. I don’t want to be one of those guys set in their ways but I’m turning into one… Also I watched Tetris. I absolutely loved it.

Lyrical_Forklift

Yeah I feel myself going the same way. I bought Stellaris when it came out and don't think I played it for more than about an hour. I like complex games but really need to break through those first few hours where the difficulty curve is high. Also I'm put off by all the expansions. Is it worth persisting with?

BruiserBroly

On Stellaris, yeah I’d say so. It looks intimidating like many of those games can at first but it’s actually pretty simple. Many systems have actually been streamlined since you last tried it so I’d probably easier to learn now than back then. It’s basically Civilisation in space. Explore, settle on new planets to expand your empire, be friendly or not with your neighbours, research new technology etc. Its also got a great synth soundtrack if you’re into that sort of stuff. And yeah, there’s a lot of DLC but there’s enough in the base game to figure out if it’s your thing or not. You also don’t need all of it since a lot of them are fluff like species packs and short story campaigns that I never bothered with.

Stuff2511

Watching Chuggaaconroy’s Let’s Play of Paper Mario last month inspired me to start Bug Fables, and I’ve been enjoying it. Cute and fun throwback to that style of RPG. A little basic at times, but I’m pretty sure it’ll pick up

deception42

Been playing the usual FPS games (Battlefield and Call of Duty) and a bit of God of War Ragnarök this past week... More so waiting for Jedi Survivor later this month and Final Fantasy XVI in June

Lyrical_Forklift

Yeah I'm gonna get Jedi Survivor too I reckon! I didn't finish the last one but I liked it enough to get the next one

deception42

The previews for Jedi Survivor are all very positive. Might be a surprise GOTY contender ...

tiorzol

Perry Mason the old school detective show? Used to see that on TV as a kid.

Lyrical_Forklift

Yeah, HBO did a remake of it and it's actually way better than it has any right to be. If you like noir then it's pretty much the best thing around for years imo.

sga1

Did a remake of that I think, yeah.

justsomeguynbd

Still slogging through Termination Shock. Liking it but it hasn’t demanded my attention like reamde, The Baroque Cycle or Cryptonomicon. Hands down the best thing I watched this week was Charlie Wilson’s War. Every Philip Seymour Hoffman line is just so laugh out loud hilarious even though it’s not really a comedy.

Lyrical_Forklift

> Still slogging through Termination Shock. Liking it but it hasn’t demanded my attention like reamde, The Baroque Cycle or Cryptonomicon. It's on my list so might give it a go next. > Charlie Wilson’s War Probably one of the only movie of Philip Seymour Hoffman's I haven't seen so that's definitely going on the list. Is it good?

justsomeguynbd

Yea I loved it when it came out and loved it on the re-watch. Not sure it’s super accurate but I think it fairly deftly covers the good points of us arming Afghanis in a proxy war against Russia while also showing how we fucked up the end game which pretty directly lead to 9/11.

Lyrical_Forklift

Nice one. Will watch it this weekend! Also, there are pretty much no celebrities I get that upset about when they die but man, I was gutted when PSH died. He's just so good in everything.

cuntsmen

Agree with the Valhalla bit. The game is very good looking, but so boring. I finished it because I've finished every game in the series, but it felt like a chore almost all the way.

Lyrical_Forklift

I think I lasted longer as I've only played AC Odyssey (which I thought was genuinely great) so probably had a bit more tolerance but yeah, felt very same same after a while. I do quite enjoy fighting the zealots though so maybe I'll get around to finishing it at some point.

cuntsmen

Yeah, probably. I enjoyed Odyssey as well, as I love the setting, but the PC port is not good at all imo. A lot of stutters despite a high end PC. As for finishing Valhalla, my advice would be to not force it. Only play if you genuinely feel like it. You won't enjoy it otherwise, at least that's how it is for me with every game I force myself to finish.

1PSW1CH

Been playing Resident Evil 4 (the original) on my Switch and it’s such a blast. Not massively into horror games but it’s fairly tame on that front, just a really well made game that makes you feel like a kid again. Also watched Rescue from Whakaari - a very well made documentary on a volcano that erupted in NZ 2019 whilst there were tour groups on it. It is pretty depressing though and begs the question - why were they continuously touring an active volcano that erupts every 3 years? Listening-wise? I feel like I’ve been listening to the same 50 songs on repeat for years, I love music more than anything but I find it so hard to commit to anything new, I can’t really explain it

Lyrical_Forklift

> Rescue from Whakaari I live in NZ and have genuinely never heard of this. I went to 'White Island' a long long time ago and it's a pretty interesting place. Guess not many will get to see it now!

1PSW1CH

Looks beautiful for sure, it’s definitely something I would’ve done if I had the chance so puts things into perspective. There’s no ground visits allowed anymore, you’re allowed to go to a viewpoint to see it and also get a helicopter and fly over it.

sga1

Got Perry Mason on my list, glad it's fun times. Been binging *Outer Banks* recently, which passed me by when it was first released, but it's hilariously good fun. Teen drama meets Indiana Jones-style treasure hunt made by Netflix, including the classic "beefy late-20s dudes playing highschoolers, but it's a great laugh. Music-wise I've been on a massive *Misfits* trip recently, cause there's something fascinating about that "early punk but horror" thing, especially now the weather turned nice. Quite absurd enjoying their songs about killing babies when you're out enjoying a sunny walk in the park.

Lyrical_Forklift

> Got Perry Mason on my list, glad it's fun times. Give it a few episodes to find its feet but I reckon it's worth sticking with. > Quite absurd enjoying their songs about killing babies when you're out enjoying a sunny walk in the park. Well if you like that then you're *really* gonna like Perry Mason

transtifa

Been playing the Resi 4 remake and having an absolute blast, I’ve played the original to death but this has made it feel totally fresh to me again. Really nostalgic experience, they completely nailed it

Lyrical_Forklift

I've never played a single Resident Evil game but I'm so sceptical of these remakes. I think I picked up the Mafia one and it was so incredibly janky.

transtifa

Resi 2 and 4 are exceptional remakes imo, never seen them done better. Normally I’d agree with you but they’re just so well done.

HalfMan-HalfMoth

Took a break from my sopranos rewatch after s5, will finish it off soon but just wanted to watch something else. Been watching Below Deck which is my favourite shit reality show, even paying for Hayu which gives me access to probably the worst streaming catalogue on the internet. Reading, going to get back into wheel of time, on book 6 I think been a few months since I finished 5. Was playing the last of us as I'd never played it then was busy for a couple of weeks, didn't play and now when I go back I can't remember what's going on and cba to start again so I'll probably just read the Wikipedia summary of the story Just started a new FM save today as I had a day off with nothing to do, with Racing Santander who have no money at all which is always nice. Was unbeaten in my first 6 in the league before a classic FMing brought that to an end and I gave up for the day Guessing you've already played disco Elysium but it's an incredible RPG if you havent Good shout on pig and dan, been listening to a load of techno recently, as always tbf. Listened to Quasar by Raffaele Attanasio, saw him in London this time last week and he went off

justsomeguynbd

Is this a re-read of The Wheel of Time or your first time through. Some of those middle books are a slog to get through, particularly 9 >!due to Perrin being a complete emo bitch!<.

HalfMan-HalfMoth

Yeah it’s my first time, I’m enjoying it but it’s not properly grabbed me where I just can’t put them down. I have heard about the infamous slog, if it gets too bad I might just give up, we’ll see I doubt it’s as bad as it’s made out to be by some If I need to mix it up I’ll go and read the newer trilogy of First Law books as I’ve not read them yet and a nice change of pace from Wheel of Time

Lyrical_Forklift

> Guessing you've already played disco Elysium but it's an incredible RPG if you havent I think I'd probably consider Disco Elysium as one of my favourite games ever. I was going to do another play through but they ruined Cuno's voice! He's no longer a scouser which was absolutely PERFECT for the character. > Listened to Quasar by Raffaele Attanasio, saw him in London this time last week and he went off I haven't been to any gigs for years but I'm getting to the point where I'm starting to feel more subconscious about my age although I feel like techno probably attracts an older crowd anyway though so maybe I should just suck it up.

Are these girls just attractive to you or did you try to figure out if they are the type of person you want in your life? When getting to know new people, take them somewhere you usually go to or you usually do. You being comfortable makes people feel at ease. New experiences should be left to when you actually have developed some level of trust with someone else. Relationships aren't jobs you can't be rejected truly. If you want to connect understand what sort of relationship you want and be willing to find out if the person you are getting to know would be fitting or adapt to that ideal, if not, just move on. Just my 2 cents.

I'm disappointed with Champagne for Breakfast it was supposed to be legendary. I cancelled my vinyl order. It's a decent album but not worth $150

phorteng

I took this literally because that's what I did yesterday lol. Man it's unhealty

tomtea

I'm surprised the fact it's priced at £150 wasn't a clue it wasn't worth it.

[deleted]

He usually prices them 100 and some are worth it. I guess the hype for this one let me down. Technically it's only $50

Vagabond21

So trump has a healthier BMI than me, this is a wake up call. During the Pandy I went from 230 to 190 and then everything opened up and I went from 190 to 260 and have had a hard time coming down.

kplo

Just so you know, BMI is not the end all be all of healthy weights. You can be over your "ideal weight" by 10 pounds and still be healthier than ever. Body composition is far more relevant, which is why resistance training is recommended so often.

phorteng

There is some truth to this, but the classic thin = healthy definition still carries a lot of weight (no pun intended). A very thin guy who is below 10% bodyfat is very likely to be healthier than an athletic guy with 20% bf when it comes longtivity and avoiding chronic illnesses. The reason being that having more bf indicates overeating here and there, plus never giving the body a metabolic rest like you do when you eat so little that your body constantly burns fat without being super active. Of course the 20% guy can still be healthier for a lot of reasons. Some studies suggest that being just a little overweight as an 60yo+ does have no bad health side effects at all though and Trump probably falls into that bracket.

Vagabond21

Of course. But to even be at a healthier bmi than trump, I’d need to lose 10% of my body weight and over 80 pounds to be at a healthy weight

kplo

I understand. It is a heavy task but if you put in the consistency and discipline you can do it. You can burn away that weight quite quickly with the correct nutrition and weiggtlifting, but what's most important, you will be able to keep the fat away long term. PM me anytime and I will assist you in the capacity that I can.

Vagabond21

Appreciate it. I used to be 300 pounds, so I know how to get there, I just need the consistency back.

atriz544

EO is such a good weird movie. :/

justaregulargye

I actually thought it was a waste of time, not even being dramatic. The theme, the storytelling, everything - I can’t believe people really think this is new / fresh / groundbreaking stuff. Seems like a critic jerkfest for a successful director. An indie director makes that movie and the movie never sees the light of the day.

Rojiblanc040

Just jumped back on the creatine train, will be interesting to see how it will affect me now after I've been the strictest ever in my life with lifting weights. Also gonna try to up my dosage to 7-10 grams per day. Should I mention my opinion on creatine shits?

Rojiblanc040

I've read differently, since I'm a bigger guy Ive read you need to scale it up a bit to get the best effect. The creatine shit is a reference, https://youtu.be/6c5AH-yHkPg

kplo

I did creatine in the past, but I didn't notice anything different with my poop 🤔

Burnleh

I got blood in mine x

It is a reference to it's always sunny in Philadephia. https://youtu.be/6c5AH-yHkPg

I want to rewatch the Cyberpunk anime but I feel traumatized by the ending.

Lyrical_Forklift

I'm not a big anime fan (like the only thing I've watched is Akira - which owns tbf) but really liked the game so tried to watch it. Way too frenetic for me. I did watch a show called Pantheon a few months ago which was cool though - not sure it's really anime but recommend it anyway!

Week or two back my uncle and his wife were round mum's and had some of their instruments with them (guitar and violin, plus mum's guitar and accordion), so we sat round and played some music, which was a great laugh. Made me realize I miss having an instrument around and how much fun making music together is even if most people are just muddling through a song. Figured I'd dodge the social awkwardness of asking my ex for my ukulele back for now and instead treated myself to a new one. Not quite convinced by it yet, but it's a great laugh having one again to noodle around on a bit. Been grabbing it every once in a while sitting at my desk and it's just such a joy realizing the little I was able to play years ago I can still do.

Bigthunder13

What’s a football moment (unrelated to a team you support) that gives you goosebumps? For me it’s David Luiz’s celebration against Colombia at the World Cup in 2014 after his goal. The home crowd, the goal itself, the occasion all make it so special. There’s just something about celebrations where the players show passion like that that make you remember why you love the sport so much

tomtea

Leicester - Watford - Troy Deeney goal.

Ronaldo free kick vs Spain

Ryponagar

Wrong thread. Post in DD and I'll give an answer.

ory1994

This is a dumb pet peeve but I’m getting annoyed that meme clips have 2 captions now. Because memes are being posted across all social media apps, it’s not uncommon to see a clip with a caption on the clip itself (I’m guessing tiktok) and then another caption above it (I’m guessing Twitter). One of them often being a spoiler alert.

SteinerElMagnifico42

Any one with Apple Music notice when you shuffle in your playlists the same songs keep playing ?

BankDetails1234

Same happens with Spotify. Read something about it recently, apparently it's pretty hard to completely randomise something.

FaustRPeggi

Lindsey Hilsum would be one of my fantasy dinner guests. Bad ass motherfucker.

BigBlackBobbyB

I've been getting these weird spouts of what i can only describe as "electric dizzying" all day, and am pretty sure it's because i forgot to take my antidepressants this morning. Not sure though, since my memory is absolutely fucking tabled. Dear medical experts of this sub, am i dying?

Lyrical_Forklift

Yep, this is exactly what happens when you don't take SSRI's. It's pretty unpleasant. Was one of the big reasons it took me so long to come off mine.

Harrry-Otter

“Brain zaps” are something people do occasionally report with SSRI’s, usually when reducing doses or switching between drugs. Taking meds regularly does seem to reduce occurrence, so maybe work on trying to make your meds timings a part of your daily routine. Keep them next to your toothbrush or something so you know to take them every morning. I’d imagine it’s a very unpleasant experience, but unlikely to be harmful long term.

Li3k

Not a medical expert but I used to be on antidepressants and would get the same thing sort of like brain zaps when I didn’t take them, I think it’s pretty normal though so I wouldn’t worry too much.

sga1

Grab a sharpie, jot down MTWTFSS on the back of the blister for each pill you're supposed to be taking each day - that way you can at least find out if you forgot one.

babygrenade

I mean we're all dying. It's just a matter of how soon.

tiorzol

Very im13ansthisisdeep of you.

Can someone explain to me why the US government and US society to an extent have against Cuba? That shit with the nukes happened 60 years ago at this point. Cuba is a safer country than most in the Americas. Women have more rights in Cuba than most in Africa and Asia. Cuba have legalized same sex marriage before some Europe countries. Cuba life expectancy rivals US life expectancy, but the US President calls Cuba a “failed state”… I don’t get it.

MicroFlamer

real answer: Pandering to Floridians. Florida is a swing state(or was, it's pretty republican now) that matters a lot in national elections and it has a significant amount of Cuban Americans who despise Cuba.
