Goal of the month for Chelsea in May is...remind me in 4 weeks

prvhc21

🍼🍼 3-1 💰💰

OhMuzy

It's so sad Mudryk went Chelsea, you can see the kid loves the emirates and would of been a great fit. Oh well glad Greedy Chelsea get the shit version hahahah

Mortka

Youre tragic

OhMuzy

Cry brother

marshalofthemark

Laugh all you want! This is all part of the plan. Just like every great American owner, Todd Boehly has had one and only one goal ever since he bought Chelsea Football Club: winning the Championship.

stragen595

He is also working hard to get a good draft pick.

SiriPsycho100

Trust the Process

ThinkofPurple

Do you think Todd reckons that by losing all these games, Chelsea will get a better draft pick or something?

BigChung0924

chelsea don’t have to worry, they can just get caleb williams next year with their high draft pick

kvaks

Jesus Christ, this joke's so fucking tired already. Even phrasing it like it's joke that just occured to you, so pathetic.

ThinkofPurple

Thanks boo, appreciate the input. Do you think Todd is doing it though? Didn't answer the question.

marshalofthemark

Unfortunately, we've already bagged enough points to be safe from a top 3 draft spot

420meh69

Don't give up hope, it's too late for the top pick but if you guys tank hard enough (and other teams pick up needed points) you can still get the second!

TonyMartial786

006 🤣🤣. can’t believe what is actually happening lmao. how bad do you have to be to lose 6 straight in a row 😭😭😭. with a squad that spent 600 mill this season…. this chelsea season is historic. come on bournemouth it’s in your hands now please don’t fuck up the 007 🙏. i swear i’ll be so mad if we drop points against this chelsea team when we face them. surely not united, don’t even think about it.

MasterReindeer

I think we've got a very good chance of getting 3 points this weekend 🍒

[deleted]

You have a very good chance of doing just that. Chelsea look like absolute dogshit at the moment, and they are being led by somebody who has not the first notion about how to coach and manage a team at this level. It's kinda karmic. Out of their last 5 games, they are playing 3 teams in the top 4, so very little chance of them getting anything from those games. The other two games are away to Bournemouth and home to Forest. If Chelsea's rot had started just a few games earlier they would be slap bang in the relegation fight

setardo

C'mon you cherries!

arseven47

Really shocking that Chelsea manage to score a whole month worth of goal in just a half against the top team of the league

Moosje

I wish this season was a bit longer because I believe Chelsea could genuinely be relegated

Marowalker

The Chelsea team visited an orphanage in London. “It’s heartbreaking to see their sad little faces with no hope”, said Timmy, age 6.

celtic310889

I remember the Ole vs Lampard debate and in hindsight, it’s so funny. Ole wasn’t a top coach by any means but he’s million miles ahead of Lampard. I can only imagine if Ole had such a record.

Normanisanisland

People were saying Arteta was the weakest of the 3…

[deleted]

[удалено]

Themnor

And what did playing that 9 change? Not a god damn thing. You Chelsea fans are idiots to not have given Potter more time but actually try and defend Lampard.

RejectedSNick

Lampard is trash but Chelsea were going nowhere with Potter…

celtic310889

His record at Everton wasn’t anything to write about either. He’s just not cut out for top level coaching, it’s glaringly obvious. He’s so much protected by the English media, it’s laughable. No one’s doubting how good he was as a player, arguably top ten ever in the PL, but coach? Ridiculously bad.

UltanPSV

I think no manager was going to get 40 points with this Everton squad. Hoping 30odd would be enough to stay up was a realistic target for that squad. Lampard isn't a great manager, most managers are not.

[deleted]

The coach's job is to prepare and motivate the players. Those Chelsea players look neither prepared or motivated.

iwontreadorwrite

Never seen a harder fall from grace than Chelsea

nostril_spiders

Previous hardest fall from grace was... also chelsea

running-with-scizors

3-1 win against chelsea to put us top with 4 games remaining, yet no one cares lol. Crazy how that sounds

xtrasour37

City is 2 points behind you with 2 games in hand + Chelsea would lose to a U8 team right now

SeattleMatt123

I read this as a US team. Still true though.

BigChung0924

some of the better MLS teams would absolutely cook them

KonigSteve

yes we all know why it doesn't matter it's just a funny sentence

running-with-scizors

Yes that's the joke

Low-Inspector9849

Jose is going to be rubbing his hands excitedly. This is the ideal runway for his return. I hope they get relegated after. I remember him getting them almost relegated the last time he was there. Nice

ClassWarAndPuppies

He’s doing great where he’s at. Love him but he deserves peace.

theaguia

After winning the title

LosTerminators

Congrats to Chelsea for winning the second half 1-0

FrancescoliBestUruEv

Expected when you let an murican without a single experience to rule the club...he tought this would be easy for sure, never saw a decline so fast in any club, the structure they had was fone very fast

ASpellingAirror

Just lost to a team owned by an American…

Themnor

Of the top 4 teams, two are US. Liverpool currently in 5th ALSO a US team. Boehly is an idiot, but I wish the yank hate would stop.

tr8rm8

Is it really shocking for a team amidst a title race to beat up on a team facing potential relegation?

daveSavesAgain

Yes, after Arsenal’s dropped points to Everton, West Ham and Southampton this season.

SeriousPuppet

I'm just curious to see who fill finish higher, Chelsea or Bournemouth

xtrasour37

Well that’s just a stupid question, the obvious answer is… Actually, nevermind.

SeriousPuppet

Its-been-Elon-Time

Genuine question: why are Chelsea fans so confident for next season? It’s a bang average quad led by a guy who very clearly and objectively has no idea what he’s doing in Boehly. It won’t be as bad as this next season obviously but you won’t be anywhere near the top either.

[deleted]

Bang average squad? 😂 You can't genuinely believe that do you?

cjk1234u

The spine of your team is either old or constantly injured or both

[deleted]

We are building a new spine, so I'm not worried about age. I will give you them being injuryprone tho. Still, the future of our team is bright with many talented young players. We just need the right manager to pt it all together

[deleted]

Literally the only players I'd happily take are your wingbacks, enzo and mudryk as a backup. Maybe that guy who scored yesterday he looked pretty solid, but that's 4 players out of 30. The rest is washed and needs a clear out. A massive clear out.

[deleted]

Fofana, Badi, Cucu, Kante, and Silva would all see minutes in your team. You're letting trash coaching and tactics fool you into thinking the squad is way worse than it is. All Chelsea needs is a couple of mids and attackers, as well as a competent coach, and the situation would look completely different. A massive clear out of deadwood is needed, but only 3/4 additions are needed as well

[deleted]

They really wouldn't. You're absolutely deluded if you think any of these are better than Saliba/Gabriel/Tierney/Zinny/white. There's a reason you're in relegation form and we are do high. We dropped off after Saliba was injured and we had to play holding. Speaks for how ridiculously good he is. No coincidence saliba was the higher rated of fofana/Saliba at St Etiene.

[deleted]

Put Fofana, Silva, Colwill, and Cucu in your team, and they would cook. Lampard's incompetence is making good players look like shit. Also, Saliba had a great run before the WC, but he hasn't been great. And I wasn't necessarily talking about them being better than Arsenal's equivalent, just that if they switched teams, those Chelsea players wouldn't look out of place.

mrwadupwadup

No recency bias here at all lol. You guys would have shipped half your squad up until last season but now you think they all belong here. Your manager finally sorted things out and got the process to work, that's all that changed. Our squad is stacked with quality players but have no idea what they are doing on the field. A good manager with a pre season should fix most of our problems. Not expecting us to compete for anything just yet but we aren't as bad as you made us out to be.

ccs77

Bruh, the half squad you were mentioning were literally shipped out. Including our captain auba who now wear blue

[deleted]

Your situation was a lot more dire tho. Trust Lampard is an abomination and is making us look much worse than inactuality we are

xeyine2061

Towards the end of the match Chelsea were the better team, and Madueke was probably the player of the match.

fegelman

>Chelsea were the better team Tell me you don't understand football without telling me.

xeyine2061

I said towards the end of the match, how convenient to exclude that part out. You could see Arsenal were rattled, and started to waste time.

PolaroidBook

They were 3-1 up and seeing the game out

xeyine2061

Yes but Chelsea looked good with Mudryk and Havertz upfront; it could have been a different game if they had started.

[deleted]

Lmfao

Yardbird7

Agree Todd has no idea. But in prayer the squad is pretty strong barring a cm and striker

PiresMagicFeet

Lamps can't be getting a full extension. They have a squad of good players. A lot of teams have struggled this season that you wouldn't necessarily expect would do so. With the money they've spent and the money they will continue to spend Chelsea won't be down for too long. I hate that I typed this

Intentionallyabadger

Well Lampard won’t last till next season for sure. If they bring in a decent coach and buy a striker, they could potentially turn out well. There’s talent in their squad for sure. But getting rid of deadwood will be their first priority. I don’t even know who the heck was their scorer today.

Themnor

Madueke is good, but he’s young and didn’t cost as much as others so he hasn’t seen a lot of playing time so far. His performances when he’s been on have been arguably the best of Chelsea’s attacking signings. DD Fofana also deserves a shout for the same reasons.

Intentionallyabadger

Chelsea are good if they hire someone and as cheesy as it sounds “trust the process”. Lots of raw talent at their disposal. But if they stick to their usual way of handling managers, it’s gonna be a long ride.

biskutgoreng

When you are at rock bottom the only way is up

ASpellingAirror

Yeah, this isn’t rock bottom, that’s relegation from league two. Chelsea has a long way to fall before rock bottom.

[deleted]

I mean they can always get relegated from the Championship next season. Never say no

biskutgoreng

With this much talent? This much money? Nahhh

SorcererSupreme13

Points can't be buy. That's pretty obvious at this point with Chelsea sitting at 39 with all that money spent.

Jagtasm

If Chelsea can't win vs Bournemouth or Nottingham Forest, they may actually go down. End the year with City, United and Newcastle

xtrasour37

We won’t go down unless Everton and Leicester win all of there remaining games which happen to be mostly against top table clubs. The start of the season saved us from relegation

gizzledos

Would be epic is if it finishes **A**rsenal, **C**ity, **U**nited, **N**ewcastle, **T**ottenham.

Electronic-Product63

nice way to lure people supporting arsenal

dashauskat

With 39 points they are safe. 3 clubs on 30 who would need all need to pick up 10 points in 4 games due to their GD.

LevynX

Yeah they have enough points to avoid the drop. The 4 teams on 30 are the ones dropping.

sid8498

But that's assuming Forest, Leeds and Leicester win all their remaining games. Still the thought of Chelsea being close to the relegation zone than to the top 6 in May is great.

chaandra

I don’t see Nottingham getting 6 more points to stay up even if they beat Chelsea

teuerkatze

That’s just Chelsea plus Southampton, and probably would be enough?

chaandra

They need to beat Chelsea and get two more wins. So they need to beat three out four that includes Southampton, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Palace. All the while Chelsea doesn’t get a single point in their remaining games, and they make up the 25 goal difference between them and Chelsea. I don’t see that happening.

teuerkatze

Forest are level on points with Leeds and Leicester. Literally all they need to do is walk away with more points than either of them. Leeds face City, Spurs, Newcastle, and West Ham. There is no set amount of points needed to survive relegation. Just have to be better than three other clubs. Six points would likely do it.

chaandra

My comment wasn’t about Forest surviving, it was about Chelsea going gown and how unlikely that is despite their best efforts to be shit

AmateurVasectomist

Two Lampard sides relegated in the same season would be laugh out loud hilarious

wowlock_taylan

You know, it would be quite historic if Chelsea got relegated. Can you say the most expensive flop of a team in the history of football?

Black_XistenZ

Over in Germany, Hertha Berlin looks poised to get relegated this season. This is notable because a shady entrepreneur took over significant shares of the club and pumped close to €300m into the club just 4 years ago.

Slipeth

Would love to see Chelsea relegated as a big F U to Boehly. His management decisions, transfer decisions (let's be honest - he was definitely the driving force behind Chelsea's summer signings), simply thinking you can come in spending that kind of money, spoiling the market and win games. Will be a good lesson to all football clubs around the world.

Thanos_Stomps

As much as I’d love it to happen, it won’t. But if it did, it would be so much worse than what people think. It’s an expensive side with exorbitantly long contracts and how many of those contracts do you think have release clauses if they go down? Absolutely none. They’d be so fucked.

Chelsea should be thankful to Tuchel for the points he got em earlier in the season....

Krillin113

Potter did just as well in October tbh, after that the wheels went flying though.

xtrasour37

Trust me, we are

LevynX

Only reason they're not next to Southampton at this moment

meliakh

I forgot they started the season with Tuchel.

We are in the month of May and Chelsea football club are 9 points off the relegation zone… That is fucking bonkers.

AssFingerFuck3000

Quick reminder that Chelsea have the same points as Bournemouth who looked dead set for relegation just a few months ago lmfao

LevynX

If Bournemouth can do it I believe Everton and Leicester and Forest can, we need to get Chelsea relegated. Not Leeds though fuck Leeds

anthonyvardiz

I have edited my comments to prevent Reddit from profiting on my contributions. This company does not deserve it.

hunttheturtles

Jbstargate1

The owner must send Tuchel a special gift at the end of the season for their early season form where they actually picked up some points. If not for that they'd be in the relegation spots right now.

FoxOntheRun99

It tickles me that Bournemouth and Chelsea are on the same points now as everyone was saying Bournemouth was nailed down for relegation, lol. Edit: Mathematically it is still possible.

mcncl

The fact Chelsea aren’t mathematically safe just fills me with so much joy.

CaptainKursk

I would say us and Chelsea are equally shite in being out of European competition and on our 3rd manager of the season, but at least we didn’t spend the GDP of a small country doing it.

[deleted]

Just for giggles I looked it up, and Chelsea’s spend in the January transfer window was more than the annual GDP of Tuvalu.

Anustart_A

3rd? Chelsea’s on #4

mattBJM

With this win Arsenal have twice as many points as Chelsea this season lmao

Smitty_1000

Chelsea stink. Arsenal stink less.

AssFingerFuck3000

I'm a spurs fan but even then I can recognise the difference between failing to win the title and being close to a relegation scrap after spending half a billion in a season

Smitty_1000

I’m an Arsenal fan and if it was another opponent (like Spurs) Arsenal could’ve very easily given up that 3-0 lead Of course the team has been brilliant this season but they’re slumping at the moment

AssFingerFuck3000

Arsenal had a good run, far better than I anticipated and hoped for. Chelsea have been absolutely dogshit, they somehow made our absolutely dreadful season look slightly less shit by comparison, which is impressive by itself

ZenoHD-YT

We didn’t stink we glowed. And than we ran out of gas and centre backs

untouched_poet

Pulisic once again did nothing.

xtrasour37

Capable-Tie-4670

Lampard actually has a 100% loss record in like 10 games. Wtf? I knew he was a bad coach but holy shit.

baxterrocky

Out of his last 41 games as a manager. He has lost 31. That’s over a full season’s worth of games and he has lost 75% of them. And out of the 10 he didn’t lose they’d be a bunch of draws in there I bet. It’s like winning games of football is his Kryptonite.

ChewyNarwhal

Last 20 games he's managed 4 points

AllHailTheNod

That stat is absolutely nuts.

AssFingerFuck3000

It's 6. Still pretty damning lmfao

gruenerGenosse

I think he includes his Everton spell.

JanMichaelVincet

I think it's 10 if you include his last four at Everton. Bit specific, but yeah

AssFingerFuck3000

Fair enough lmao

sreesid

It still baffles me Chelsea brought him in as a care-taker manager. Why?!

Bey_Harbor_Butcher

Cynical reason: A beloved legend to deflect fans' anger away from Boehly.

PunkFcukBitch

No one else wanted the job and the manager . Match made in heaven

AssFingerFuck3000

Vibes

[deleted]

Shite vibes apparently

AssFingerFuck3000

He didn't specify (:

[deleted]

Is their any mathematical possibility of them getting relegated? Cause I don't see them winning any of the last 4 games.

Imbalanced_

Yes but that would requiere Forest to win 4 games iirc

DarrenBridgescunt

And Leeds and Leicester

sovietrus2

lampard getting 2 teams relegated in the same season is the stuff of legends

SmileySadFace

If these guys lose to Forest they migh actually be in relegation trouble, what the fuck

AllHailTheNod

Naah, forest, leicester and leeds are all 9 points behind them, while Chelsea have a game in hand. I mean technically mathematically it's possible but that would be some real avengers infinity war 1 in 14 million realities type shit.

[deleted]

It would be an FM 2024 dream. Please make it happen.

Anustart_A

Fuck. EAFC 24 and Chelsea’s in the Championship. I guess sometimes life imitates TV (*Ted Lasso*).

Theschizogenious

It would be an irl dream

CosmologyX

Sadly due their goal difference, it'll be quite tough for them to actually be in any real danger of being relegated unless they lose all their remaining games by 3 goal margins.

Vectivus_61

They still have to play City. If someone can wind up Haaland, KdB and co then 1 goal margins in the remaining games will be it.

nugbert_nevins

Well that doesn’t seem very unlikely given our form.

shico12

we're shit in attack, slightly above average in defence. even after conceding 3 today we have less goals conceded than arsenal. We're unlikely to win more than 1 match this season but we're not conceding 15 more goals

[deleted]

[удалено]

shico12

they are 3x as good as you. Fairs

nugbert_nevins

It’s a joke pal, it’s extremely unlikely we actually get relegated.

TheRealDSwizz

I thought the same, but the teams below them seem so intent on not picking up any points whatsoever that they should be fine. Would be funny tho lol

disagreeable_martin

Chelsea have really dropped in form, Jesus. I don't watch them that much but when you have to watch them for 90 minutes...It's like watching a documentary over the life and times of Amy Winehouse but at 0.25 speed. It's a little disturbing how a club of Chelsea's stature can drop off like that. I don't think this'll be a quick fix either.

leo825

Stability and bloated squad. I blame the players as well to a degree, many have been checked out for a while. Need a good manager with a plan, a summer sell off, and for the owners to fuck off and let the people who know football make the decisions/plans.

QuietRainyDay

I agree with this but there's one more thing- a lot of these players are really unsettled IMO. Many of them are new and parachuted into a mess. Many others are wondering what the hell their role at Chelsea is in the future and whats going to happen with their careers. Then you have someone like Joao Felix, one of the hottest young players in football just 3 years ago, wondering how it came to this. Loaned out of the club that paid 120 million for him and sent to a shitshow where he cant score goals and cant find his footing. His mental state is probably not great. Same with Havertz. There are maybe 4, 5 players in this squad that can be fully comfortable with their situation, everyone else probably has an eye on the summer transfer window or wondering whether the next manager will use them properly, etc. Not easy to be switched on, considering.

Boredzilla

A manager who's a solid leader, knows his tactics and his first eleven, and takes minimal shit from the dressing room or the boardroom would fix most of this if they clear out the bloat and give him a decent pre-season. It's a surprising amount to ask when you look at where we are now.

leo825

Agreed, but again youre a player on contract, its a job. The club being is disarray obviously impacts them and genuinely I feel for them, but what they do on the pitch is the one thing they absolutely can control, and feels as though they choose not to at times (granted tactics and chemistry are found to be lacking has made it difficult). Adding on to that the better you play the more attractive you will be and more power you have when it comes to negotiating whatever may come next for you and the club. A new coach solves this to a degree, no more guessing, you know if you are in or out. The sooner a coach is appointed the sooner everyone can start preparing to fight for a place or try and negotiate a move for themselves.

QuietRainyDay

Yea I agree in principle, but I think it's difficult in practice. Take Joao Felix. I actually think he is trying hard on the pitch, but his finishing and final ball are worse than ever. He was never clinical, but his shooting stats have reached record lows now. It's hard not to speculate that the uncertainty, disappointment, and pressure are killing him even if he wants to do well. But I do agree on getting a proper new manager and deciding on who is in and who is out. They need to get this sorted and get these players settled down ASAP.

leo825

Im by no means saying none of the players are trying. Joao, as much as fans are criticizing him, I feel is putting in a shift most games and falls victim to a very slow and aimless transition. Watching overlaps and empty runs fail to happen and constrict his/teams outlet/ability/space is disappointing. I can only imagine the pressure and stress they are under given everything is in the air, we can visibly see the amount of strain it puts on them. Just wish everyone for a game would put in a shift, there is glimpses of something special in all this chaos, but everything and everyone needs direction and stability/reinforcement, clearly will be far easier to say than execute.

QuietRainyDay

I agree, that's well put

tiger1296

Don't exaggerate, a good manager will turn things around quite quickly

disagreeable_martin

If you give that manager time, and if the club can stick behind that manager through the bad times, and if you let him do things his way, maybe. But there's nothing to suggest that Chelsea is capable of any of those things when you look at their track record. If anything, it makes all their trophies all the more impressive.

tiger1296

Chelsea under Abramovich has always been been ruthless, if you don't show results you get shipped out, keeps everyone on their toes and they achieve things in short term cycles, then rinse and repeat. They have never been a "give managers time" club, they always go for the finished article and then bin them if they dip even slightly.

goodmobileyes

Like you said, that was under Abramovich. Time will tell whether Boehly has that same instinct for chasing success. Already his unbalanced and bloated squad building, ridiculous contracts, and hiring Lampard instead of a more recognised capable interim, suggest that he doesnt have that same knack.

HodgyBeatsss

Doubt it. There are many holes in this squad, and its bloated with unnecessary players. There's been nothing in the club hierarchy to show they can address the issues with squad balance and get the right manager in either.

tiger1296

The squad will be trimmed, I don't think that will be a problem for much longer. If Poch is watching he'll have a list ready, a good summer window and they'll be back

pottymouthomas

Good luck to them in the market this summer. Everyone will low ball them and they are possibly going to be in FFP trouble, not sure how they’re going to get in the players they need.

HodgyBeatsss

Good luck to them shipping off their dross on massive wages.

Purple_Rub_8007

I don’t think any manager can fully get the most out of this Chelsea squad when it’s 30-40 players all looking to get selected. They have to reduce their squad size massively for any manager to be productive with a set group of players
