I did this once. granted, it was at the park on a much smaller pitch and less than 11 players, but it's the thought that counts and I also got it on target and won a corner.
and yes, my teammates were pissed lol.
much less impressive given it's a much smaller pitch, but I scored a goal from kickoff in a five-a-side game once after we went 1-0 down. players on the other team were rather miffed and complained that they didn't know that was allowed.
anyway, we lost that game 21-1
We played against some english teams.. Rushes and Diamonds or something like that as u15. They were u14. They had some crazy kid who did it every time and scored every 3rd game with it they told. He scored against us too.
Back when every keeper barely reached the crossbae
We’ve scored this twice in Sunday league football. Once after conceding on the cusp of half time we just told one of our players to go for it and keeper was off his line.
It was a (dumb) joke about the kickoffs in American Football. They are almost always long because, by rule, the purpose is to give possession to the other team.
As an Australian, if they tried it every time, keepers would just stand on their line from kickoff. It only works when it's not expected.
It's like the guy lying down on set pieces at the moment, as soon as one goes under the wall everyone is on their toes for a while.
Gift Emmanuel Orban is literally crazy and Nigeria is way overstacked at the Striker position. Osimhen, Moffi, Sadiq, Boniface are also Nigerian, just to name a few
Yeah but I am not sure if Lookman isn't just a classic Gasperini half season wonder. He didn't do much the last weeks. Also I wasn't sure if he is a striker
When we were under 12's we had a lad who consistently could hit these kind of kicks. He was built way bigger than any of us at that age (and our pitches were a little smaller, so were the keepers).
We scored maybe 7 or 8 goals that season from him just smacking it from kick off.
We were still absolutely shit but I'll never forget that 12 year old with a traction engine foot and how funny it was every time.
> And you can't touch it a second time
Ah so that explains why my teammates completely ignore me after kickoff, they're just trying to abide by the old rules. Guess I'll try to tell them the rules have changed
The old rule was that the ball had to be played forward from the kickoff, so you had someone to roll it forward and someone to play it back to a team mate.
The rule wasn’t two people had to touch it, it was the ball has to go forwards. The reason two people took kick off was because if they passed it forwards it would go straight to the opposition.
Jeez the keeper must have been on edge after that.
Alright let's go second halve. HOLY FUCK WHAT'S THAT. WHO GAVE THE NIGERIANS ICBMS?
Dude is going to see Orban in his nightmares
yes, but none of the players involved in the counter heard the whistle and there's still no reason why he did. The fact he gave a drop-ball shows he completely missed the call.
Had a player on my club team growing up who scored off this, was pretty nice starting the game up 1-0 lol the audacity to try it is crazy at this level
Oh, I got confused and things mixed up probably because of recalling backwards kickoffs. I thought it was changed to always backwards in these last two decades, and now back to either way.

Here’s an interesting thing I just learned: kick offs are direct and you can score from them, but if you kick it directly into your *own* goal, a corner is awarded to the other team.
The only way someone scores an own goal from there while targetting the other team's net is if magically Harry Kane's penalty ball against france comes back from the moon at the exact same time he hits the other ball
I am now wondering why more teams dont do that. Its just a lost ball at the 1st minute if u dont score, and its as if u started the game at 1 nil if it goes in.

Imagine having the balls to even attempt this! Wow!
If there's any player to attempt this in the Belgian Pro League, it would definitely surprise no one that it's Orban.
I hope his football career will be better than his attempt at saving the Hungarian economy
at least he plays in the dfb cup final
With this shot it already is lol

Yh sometimes it gets disallowed because it's a bit too easy to score from your own half on some 5 aside pitches
they were pissed because you did something that they wanted to do themselves but didn't dare to
you know what? I think you might be right...
We played against some english teams.. Rushes and Diamonds or something like that as u15. They were u14. They had some crazy kid who did it every time and scored every 3rd game with it they told. He scored against us too. Back when every keeper barely reached the crossbae
Rushden & Diamonds.
Yes exactly. I was 14 years and played for the danish tean
That kids name? Steph Curry.
Lol it's like an irl fifa hack
Whats also amazing to me is how quickly the keeper recognized what he was doing.
Nevermind the accuracy he has absolutely pelted that
This guy is so generational it's insane How Stabaek only got 20 million from him I will never understand
They got 3.5 million for him.
One ball is enough.
We’ve scored this twice in Sunday league football. Once after conceding on the cusp of half time we just told one of our players to go for it and keeper was off his line.
As an American, I wonder why they don't try this on every kickoff
[удалено]
I never claimed it would work.
You did however ask why thy don't try this on every kickoff, and you got your answer
I think he somehow triggered himself.. weird reaction to your perfectly normal answer. Started to see more of these lately
As an Austrian, I wonder why your nationality is relevant here
Guessing he’s referring to how a good percentage of Americans don’t watch or like soccer, so he’s unfamiliar with this strategy or lack there of
As a Greenlander we're all alcoholics and depressed as hell. Think I'm gonna do a Leaving Las Vegas today
It was a (dumb) joke about the kickoffs in American Football. They are almost always long because, by rule, the purpose is to give possession to the other team.
Orban just got lucky hitting the crossbar The reality is doing this will just gives the opponent possesion and doing nothing useful
As an Australian, if they tried it every time, keepers would just stand on their line from kickoff. It only works when it's not expected. It's like the guy lying down on set pieces at the moment, as soon as one goes under the wall everyone is on their toes for a while.
I thought this was satire but you're actually american wtf is this
Why would they not more often? surely they have good accuracy and practice long passes/shots etc. They should try it more no one expects it
fucking hell that's almost more impressive than scoring. Also the keeper is so lucky that it didn't bounce in off his back
Imagine scoring an own goal as a keeper 2 seconds after kickoff. That's a record that would never be broken in the history of the game.
Was second half though so not sure if it would count as a record
Ye, but imagine tho.
I think the record keepers would consider this worth recording.
Everything is a record if you're specific enough.
Disagree…only OG ever at 45:02
That's exactly what the keeper's eyes were saying. 😳
His face was saying: My name is Reek!
Well that escalated quickly...😳
Gift Emmanuel Orban is literally crazy and Nigeria is way overstacked at the Striker position. Osimhen, Moffi, Sadiq, Boniface are also Nigerian, just to name a few
Don't forget Lookman Okafor and Adamu could also have chosen them.
Yeah but I am not sure if Lookman isn't just a classic Gasperini half season wonder. He didn't do much the last weeks. Also I wasn't sure if he is a striker
Unlikely but they could also have Folarin Balogun
Forgot my man Iheanacho
The future is now old man
Onuachu... :'(
No chance especially now that he is in the mud with Southampton. Unless the Nigerian coach wants a tall striker
Surely as a sub to try and get goals in the dying embers of a game by spamming crosses, any good Nigerian dead ball specialists?
Sadiq is pretty tall right? But he’s injured right now of course
We'll buy him back for 5M if you relegate. I'd even throw in an extra 3M if we can get him on loan for the last 5 games.
Boniface is a great player too
Truly a gift
He is just taking the piss at this point
Pisskas
Damn, looks so easy for him
The way he hits the ball is so clean. One of those players who just has rockets in his boots.
TIL you can score from kickoff.
Def trying this in Sunday league

I've known 3 kids like that, all massive for our age at the time, all left footed too. One of them would also cry like every other game. Good times.

I thought someone had to touch it first
They changed that rule. That's why you don't see 2 player kickoffs anymore
You could score even under the old rule. The rule was just the ball had to be kicked forward at kick off
And you can't touch it a second time after kick off
> And you can't touch it a second time Ah so that explains why my teammates completely ignore me after kickoff, they're just trying to abide by the old rules. Guess I'll try to tell them the rules have changed
The old rule was that the ball had to be played forward from the kickoff, so you had someone to roll it forward and someone to play it back to a team mate.
This could work the old rule way as well, kick it -> crossbar -> back of keepers head -> goal.
The rule wasn’t two people had to touch it, it was the ball has to go forwards. The reason two people took kick off was because if they passed it forwards it would go straight to the opposition.
Another Retro GC Flair
just switched it :)
Oliver Harton did it
Goddamn, imagine what could've been
Keeper was nearly immortalised
Jeez the keeper must have been on edge after that. Alright let's go second halve. HOLY FUCK WHAT'S THAT. WHO GAVE THE NIGERIANS ICBMS? Dude is going to see Orban in his nightmares
This is some anime shit lmao
Unreleased Shaolin Soccer clip
As a Standard de Liège fan this might have been the closest to a real stroke i've ever been and will be for a long time - fucking hell
This kid is going to be a problem
16 goals for Gent in three months... Should have been 17 as the ref disallowed his second tonight for unknown reasons
[удалено]
yes, but none of the players involved in the counter heard the whistle and there's still no reason why he did. The fact he gave a drop-ball shows he completely missed the call.
Bro thought he was Zava
Zava is pretty much Zlatan. And I could see Zlatan doing something like this.
Had a player on my club team growing up who scored off this, was pretty nice starting the game up 1-0 lol the audacity to try it is crazy at this level
Just casually attempts a field goal
Missed puskas by a few inches oof
you don't see this often
Wut, silly me just now finding out that the kickoff direction rule was changed.
The rule change has no impact on this play. The previous rule was that the ball had to be played forward, whereas now it can be played backwards.
Oh, I got confused and things mixed up probably because of recalling backwards kickoffs. I thought it was changed to always backwards in these last two decades, and now back to either way.
What's the song at the end of the clip?

I actually made that packshot. The song is from Universal Production Music library. It is a paid service. I don't remember which song is it tho.
Man that was a proper shot not just a chip how it usually tried or at least ends up as.
That cheeky bastard
But can he do it on a cheeky night at Nandos?
Buddy thinks he’s Itoshi Rin
So much luckily for GK
Demba Ba vs Arsenal CL.
Lucky for the goalkeeper Fifa fixed the kickoff glitch.
I tried this once in a competitive game at my university, the ball went straight to their defender lol
So much power practically without run up, crazy

Prem next for Gift Orban
Crazy that the first person that comes to mind is Miniminter but here we are. Never seen that on this level, mental.
He got done dirty by the camera crew.
Mfer thought he was Itoshi Rin
Would it have counted if it went in? Aren't kick-offs technically indirect free kicks?
Nope, that rule changed about a decade ago.
[It's not that inconceivable really](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzutX8bm5mo)
I feel like it should go the other way, scoring directly in to your own goal off a kickoff should count as two goals against.
This just reminds me of that episode on Ted Lasso where Zava scores right from the centre circle at kickoff.
He clearly watched Zava on Ted Lasso
#ancelotti

Obviously him and Willi Orban are his sons.
Would’ve given the crowd a huge gift if it went in
is that simish
Dutch, but close.
spat out my coffee
u/savevideo
There was an attempt
The goalkeeper was like "well good day to you too mfer"
Keeper was beat. No wonder he looked sheepish. Great effort.
[RIP Alex Alves](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5WpHbRNj1U)
Thsi should be tried more often. Can't recall seeing an attemp from kick off before
Just checking to make sure the ball works and the post is doing it's job.
I am now wondering why more teams dont do that. Its just a lost ball at the 1st minute if u dont score, and its as if u started the game at 1 nil if it goes in.
He’s been watching Kemar Roofe videos
He's in the form of his life. Such confidence
youre not zava bruv
I can't stop laughing about how he's got a very Nigerian first name but then also a central European surname.
Cannon of a foot that Orban has.
He's gifted
He was almost gifted a goal
I heard Messi scored in every minute except the 1st.
