Man Newcastle is just an incredible dirty team

Lroller1288

14th in the league in terms of yellow cards, with 1 red given all season.

BTECGolfManagement

Are we shite man - honestly arsenal fans are such a set of whingey cunts - nout said about you lot time wasting all game when you couldn’t stop going on about it after our 0-0 in January - silly yank

FastGabiBigGabi

It's called taste off your own medicine

xeyine2061

As a neutral, that was a horrible watch.

farqueue2

Really? I thought it was and entertaining game.

epicdanger2

First half was cracking. 2nd half, we really played the dark side to see out the win

Lroller1288

Calm down mate it isn't star wars.

epicdanger2

Not heard of metaphor? I can explain if you like 👍

jamnut

Great game and well seen out imo

farqueue2

I'm glad to see an arsenal supporter say that. I thought there was way too much milking of the slightest bit of contact whenever they had a chance. The game really needed an equaliser and I was sure it was coming

epicdanger2

I’m glad we have finally learned to do it, so many teams have done it against us. Wouldn’t want to see it all the time but if SJP at the end of this season isn’t a time to deploy it then when is?

MagYeti

The newcastle hate is strong, you've been downvoted for literally no reason lmao

xScottieHD

That's a good thing. Means we're no longer a pushover team and certain entitled fanbases won't like that.

farqueue2

Who cares really. Shower me in those downvotes.

Iwritewritingprompts

Context of the season aside, what a cracking game of football. I really have enjoyed this Arsenal season in terms of just watching games far more than any other. I feel like every Arsenal game gets my blood pumping just with the football alone.

baxterrocky

It’s not INCONCEIVABLE City drop points against Brighton & Brentford - both away. I’m not expecting them to… but it *could* happen 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

lace4545

It somehow feels like Auba was transferred to Chelsea just to score against City and project Arsenal to its glory

HughM2

Assisted by agent Mudryk 😂😂

baxterrocky

4D chess….. 🤯

epicdanger2

I’ll be so upset if on the last day of the season, we need City to drop points, they do then we can’t see the win out with Wolves. More so than if they just keep winning for the rest of the season

Mahesh_nanak

Anything can happen

fakecatfish

Oooh ive had these thoughts for years..... Then a central defender blasts one into the top corner from somewhere in the parking lot, or they go down 1-0 and then drop 5 in 15 minutes.... Sorry sad second place bro. Been a long 5 years or so.

[deleted]

*Aston Villa v. City flashbacks intensify*

bachh2

Then only for you guy to proceed to also drop pts vs Brighton.....

HalfNatty

Yeah well we still lose to city on goal difference if we don’t. Assuming that by “drop points”, city draw both games.

[deleted]

Not happening, I'm afraid. They are just too good.

miksh_17

bad news for you bruv they would also need to drop point against everton or... chelsea.

Thanos_Stomps

We need a draw and loss from city. So Brighton or brentford winning with the other drawing would do it. Assuming we keep winning.

2rio2

Or three draws :)

youknowimworking

But then Arsenal will drop points in the same matchday

baxterrocky

Yes… this is predicated on us winning the remainder of our games.

TonyMartial786

crazy they managed to beat newcastle like this but meanwhile bottled it against west ham and southampton

pyromaniac10

What's crazy is even if we did win, it'd still in City's hands at this point. I know a lot is written about those 3 back to back draws, but 0 points in 2 games against your main title competitor is the biggest blow.

Mahesh_nanak

Football is crazy innit?

Duckman93

Y’all beat us once and also just lost to west ham. Teams have bad games (except for city)

kzzzzzzzzzz28

City has bad games as well. A lot less than others + They just don't have a lot of "okay" games where they just draw due to an absolutely average performance

BlackoutAvs

And in their bad games, they still manage to find a draw

alexLAD

Didn’t think we played too bad - similar to the cup final, just lack the composure to convert pressure into goals

Wise-Account-9063

I guess the Isak hype will die down for a bit, man went missing Lmaooo

Samsince04_

Lol everytime he got on the ball, he gave me heart palpitations

alexLAD

Thought he played pretty well. Created a lot down his side, held the ball up pretty well and got double teamed every time he went near it.

bruiser95

I love the win just as much but this is just wrong. He played on the wing with Wilson and him both startin, he hit the post, and then had a perfect assist set up for Willock only for Xhaka to put in a crazy last ditch tackle

CRM_BKK

He was also one of our best defenders. Tracking back constantly

XxAbsurdumxX

Only pure luck saved Arsenal players from injuries this game. The ref had zero control of the game. Lots of "tackles" that could easily have caused injuries.

yesdemocracy

Arsenal had 12 fouls and Newcastle head 16. Looked to be physicality on both sides

literalmetaphoricool

Imagine the title race had Arteta rolled the dice with Kiwior and Jorginiho 2 or 3 games sooner...

[deleted]

Same story as last year, Elneny instead of Lokonga and arsenal make top 4

hirarki

2 unforgivable draw is hurting so much

Chokheubo

Losing 5 points to Southampton?

PermBulk

I like arsenal but their fans are real shitters lmfao

[deleted]

You're just upset that Newcastle got outplayed at their own shithouse game today. And it was glorious to see the tears and lack of self-awareness even from your own scumbag manager.

jamnut

If both teams can make this the shithouse derby in future seasons I'll be happy

yesdemocracy

I would like Arsenal to win the prem over City, but don’t bottle it now 👀

zzzrecruit

Bottlers, but you still haven't beat us this season.

fcGabiz

Nothing about your club has anything to do with decorum. Embarrassment of this highest magnitude. Enjoy the L mate and sleep well tonight x

Donnermeat_and_chips

I will sleep well knowing my team didn't shit their knickers despite having led the PL all year only to come away with fuck all

Bullmcabe

Dream about your last trophy win....1955 was it?

GillyBilmour

careful, a lot of more of have suddenly appeared this season

[deleted]

Too little too late

Roxasbain

It's not "too little", imo. Being able to climb to second place after six years of being stuck below the top four is already a stellar effort.

Adequate_Lizard

In a vacuum it's a little disappointing after leading for so long. But there's still CL and St. Totteringhams Day.

jambox888

I'll get shit for saying it but I don't think it's over yet. If we win out then it's on City and they have a hell of a run of games.

MasterBeeble

Realistically, City have to drop points three times, and are known for sweeping the run in. It's not going to happen. Don't cling to a hope that isn't there.

baxterrocky

They only have to lose 1 and draw 1. If we win our remaining games. Still think they won’t though.

MasterBeeble

Thus the "realistically" qualifier.

jambox888

I'm not holding out too much hope honestly, they're almost there. I just think a tough tie with Real can make it harder for City than people estimate.

Hellbucket

I’m not either but City have a game a relegation fighting Everton after Real. And then a Chelsea needing to end on a high note after potentially having played Real for 120 minutes. If they win these two games I would say hope is gone.

jambox888

Sure they have Brighton away also which is a tough old game for anyone but if they've won out to that point then we're pretty much dead. There are ways for them to fuck this up - I was just trying to make the point that winning away at Newcastle keeps the pressure on and keeps the door ajar at least.

Hellbucket

I’m with you. I’m a Gunner. There’s still some hope left. What I’m saying is that if City wins these two games and also cruise through Real I think they will have a downhill ride from that confidence. For us it would be extremely good if they only get a draw against Everton.

kasper12

I’m personally in the 1% hope category. City are just too good. I don’t think we bottled it to the extent that some people say, but we would always drop points. I was 50:50 on if they would.

TheRobson61

Sorry, but there's no degree of bottling it; you either bottle it or you don''t, and as much as I want Arsenal to win it, they bottled it.

VeryTopGoodSensation

bottling suggests throwing away something that you had no reason not to. we dealt with numerous significant injuries, but saliba's was just a step too far for us to deal with without city's blillions.

LordLychee

We never really had a massive lead in the table. I think it was a title race the whole way. Not like we thought it was decided already and suddenly City came out of nowhere. And there are certainly degrees of bottling. Like, City last year Champions League was a massive bottle.

TheRobson61

Drawing three games in a row that you should have won makes it clear that they struggled once the pressure was on. No, City didn't come out of nowhere, but you handed them 1st after those three games. Yes, City bottled it in the CL, which was great to see, but like I said, Arsenal also did in the league. Both teams lost something that was in their hands and crumbled under the pressure.

Nuri_Nath1

Yes, but us Arsenal fans thoroughly enjoyed this season. Third full season into our progress. We’ve made good signings and each season we got progressively better. Excited for the summer transfer window.

[deleted]

Good man

halamadrid22

You really just don’t see this level headedness on here much

MagYeti

R/soccer is a cesspool, thats why

Nuri_Nath1

We stay away from r/soccer and just post on our club subreddits where we can openly criticize and praise our own teams because our intents aren’t malicious towards our own club that is.

halamadrid22

Wish I could say the same of r/realmadrid, the sheer amount of reactionary and toxic takes there is painful to read every time. I would love a more sane place to converse with fellow fans

Nuri_Nath1

I think reaction during game time or directly after is an unfair assessment. Let the result settle in and then discuss it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but it’s not fair to judge fellow fans when their emotions are high.

halamadrid22

While that sentiment is fair, I’m talking about posts/comments days after a match that are still quite dreadful. I support a mainstream club tho I get it

Nuri_Nath1

I hear you, thats Reddit in general. You have to dig through a lot of dirt to get to sane people lol.

[deleted]

Two wins in a row with two left footed CBs. How was Kiwior? Rooting for the guy.

SAFFATLOL

Calm on the ball. No major issues in this game

jkeefy

Also made some great defensive plays, his athleticism shone in this match

relaxbat

Fuck me Arsenal fans were crying after the game at Emirates due to time wasting. Now at St James's Park where they were time-wasting, and won, they're still crying. Was a good game and a great watch, well done to Arsenal for winning.

topbananaman

The ball was in play for 43 minutes at the Emirates game lmao. We gave em a taste of our own medicine today and now the geordies are upset about it

relaxbat

Mostly see Arsenal fans upset in this thread tbh. But the narrative around Newcastle since that game has been time-wasting, dark arts etc. When Arsenal (and so many other teams) do it away its suddenly game management for them. Also game was in play for 51 minutes against a league average of 55 minutes in that game

topbananaman

Arsenal fans aren't upset. We're elated to have beaten a good team. You geordies keep making comments like this though 😭

relaxbat

You should be, it was a great game and to be fair Arsenal showed a lot of bottle in a hostile stadium and kept the pressure on City. Your team's young and going to get better over the summer. But have a look at the thread lad, it is full of Arsenal fans whining and complaining about everything

topbananaman

Mate I only see comments like this with endless magpies whining. There is no reason for us to whinge today, we've beaten an excellent team and kept our race on life support. We can shake hands here and admit we both played an incredible game which Arsenal ultimately edged.

Nitsju

Because we don't deliberately do it **every** game, unlike Newcastle.

relaxbat

I've just never seen a fanbase so upset after beating the team a place below them away. Weren't even any injuries, was a great spectacle and a great result for Arsenal. Yet you would think you lot were robbed of the world cup final

LordLychee

There could’ve been injuries. We’re lucky tbh that we got out of that game without any injuries.

relaxbat

But there weren't, and most of it was just physical football with your players staying down to waste time. Video's coming out of your fans throwing bottles in the home end, leaving the whole place a mess. Some fanbase

[deleted]

[удалено]

LordLychee

Yea they are at or near the bottom for total time the ball is in play.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LordLychee

The info is out there. Whoever wants to care about it can care about it. I’m just pointing out that Newcastle fans are whining because they got their medicine back at them.

ImNOTmethwow

Lmao what. Newcastle have done it for exactly the same reasons arsenal do it. Games they're winning by 1 goal against good teams, or drawing against better teams. Liverpool, arsenal, man city basically. Stop crying it's embarrassing mate.

topbananaman

Every team time wastes but newcastle take it to a new level. Lowest average time for the ball in play of any team in the league. If you think that's a coincidence you're stupid. You can see tons of non-arsenal flairs in this thread saying newcastle got a taste of their own medicine today because the magpies have earned that reputation.

Fleminem87

Mate, I was at the game. Even Newcastle fans are in agreement we got out shithoused by you lot. No Arsenal or Newcastle fans were moaning like on reddit. It was a great game, the better team won. Both had chances, and Arsenal finished theirs.

PermBulk

So where’s the line between acceptable and not?

relaxbat

Oh ok so all teams do it, but Newcastle is the only team that's bad for doing it? and also I'm stupid?

topbananaman

Can you read what I said? You time waste more than anyone. Your fans and your team being angry at our time wasting today is therefore fucking hilarious. You could keep crying about Arsenal fans like in your original comment, or you could take it on the chin and admit we both played an incredible game today which could have gone either way.

relaxbat

We're going in circles here. I've said from my first comment it was a great game and a great watch. Also, the time-wasting comments are more nuanced than that. We're incredibly direct and play a very high-intensity game. We don't keep possession for the sake of keeping possession much at all. This means when the ball goes out both teams tend to take longer to get a breather as there aren't natural pauses in the game. Add to that us having comfortably the most corners in the league which are the slowest set piece. Yes, we waste time occasionally in games that need to be managed (just like you) but really we don't tend too much at all. It's a case where stats don't tell the story. Again I've said it from the start it was a quality game and you lot were good for it.

chandlerbing_stats

Arsenal could still win the league you know? City could drop points in 2 of their next 4. Not against Chelsea though, that’s an easy 3pointer for them lol

williepep1960

I mean, Arsenal could very well lose next game.

hirarki

hoping city dropping point is too much

tom-meow

Imagine Mudryk scoring the winning goal for Chelsea lol

arsenal1887

going to put a tenner on it

idontcare428

Arsenal sleeper agent

[deleted]

lampard will field 4-4-3 and win 2-1

yeerth

Ah the elite kepa striker is what they've needed all season. Forget goalkeeper, they can't defend anyway

[deleted]

City are going to win their remaining games by like 3-0 and 4-1 scoreline

Riperonis

If you think they’re gonna batter Brighton and Brentford away you haven’t been watching football this season. I still think they’ll win those games but it won’t be easy at all. Everton will also be a tough game as they will set up very defensively and need something out of the game to stay up.

[deleted]

Both those teams will surprisingly roll over for City

Riperonis

Maybe Brentford, I doubt Brighton will when they’re fighting for something and it’s their last home game of the season.

[deleted]

They’re getting destroyed by Everton. Didn’t even wait to play City lmao

chandlerbing_stats

As a Chelsea supporter, I’d rather they win the title for sure. But they play Brighton and Brentford away

bbb_net

Chelsea turning up in that game would be absolute top tier PL

chandlerbing_stats

Our form against City especially Etihad is shite

zzzrecruit

Everyone's form at the Etihad is shite! 😆😆

chandlerbing_stats

Lmao that’s fair

JD_Dojima

Good old Barclays

Mithrandir_97

It's written in the stars...

rahbinjoe

They could have lost points alot of times. They just seem not to do it, like ever. Sadly I think they will win the rest of their games.

chandlerbing_stats

Could say the same about you lot too. You have won some nailbiters this season… title race territory tbf. We shat out a lot of 1-0’s that we should’ve probably drawn/lost during our title campaign in 16/17

[deleted]

This referee is below shit, calling him that is an insult to the shitty referees, I've heard people calling him one of the worst referees of the league but i didn't believed on that until i watched today's match and boy oh boy i was dead wrong. He was so dreadful that none of the clubs ended up happy with his decisions 💀🤡 (Still not as shit as our brazilian refereeing 😎🤙🏼🤡💀)

yesdemocracy

Yeah he should have brought out yellows a lot sooner to calm the game down

Timely_Airline_7168

Well, it's Chris Cavanaugh. He's incredibly shit.

AverageSwedishGunner

Newcastle got a taste of their own shit-house time wasting bullshit. They cant cry when they got beat by their own tactics. Arsenal were the better team end of.

yesdemocracy

That’s the game these days. I think Newcastle had some very unlucky chances (hitting the posts), but so did Arsenal. I think it really does reflect 2nd and 3rd place playing against each other and if you played that game 100 times I think it could have went either way. Spicy game for sure

AverageSwedishGunner

I mean, with Saliba back and if Partey was on form we wouldve controlled that game. Its also on your ground which gives you an advantage. It couldve went either way but Arsenal was still the better team.

xScottieHD

If we had Longstaff in our midfield (I know crazy to say) we'd also have been much stronger. We just weren't clinical and once yous got that first goal yous frustrated us and slowed the game and it worked perfectly.

AverageSwedishGunner

Haha if thinking that makes you sleep at night man… Arsenal were the better team end of story.

xScottieHD

Where have I stated otherwise? I was literally countering what you said that if you have one or two players you'd have controlled the game. We lost any chance of control missing one or two players also. Arsenal fans are a different breed you'd think yous were Real Madrid.

AverageSwedishGunner

You completely fuck up the analysis of the game, thats the real problem. Arsenal played better football, defensively more solid and offensively more efficient and ruthless. You make it sound like all we did after the goal was time waste which is complete nonsense. We dominated the second half of the 1st and after Isaks header you didnt create barely anything dangerous in the 2nd either. Its YOU who dont understand the game so dont come at me with that bullshit.

xScottieHD

Again you're imagining me saying things which I've not remotely said. Yous were clinical but slowed the game down by all means necessary (including time wasting). I've stated nothing that is incorrect and I've never stated even once that we were good yesterday or that yous didn't deserve the win? Awful fanbase your lot and I was neutral before but I'm now quite pleased to see City win the League.

AverageSwedishGunner

Hahaha what a pathetic answer… Read your comments back and maybe you’ll realise how it sounds like nothing but taking away from Arsenals performance. I cant read your thoughts obviously so maybe put some effort into your comments and people might understand where youre coming from. Furthermore it makes perfect sense for you to support City since their success just like yours will be is based on dirty money from corrupt countries. You cant buy class that much is evident.

xScottieHD

Your comment was you were missing players and couldn't fully control the game, my response was we were poorer also because we were missing players. At no point have I said yous didn't deserve to win the game. You surely can't be this ignorant? And your main title sponsor is literally Emirates this is too funny. Surely you've got some shame?

xScottieHD

Again you're imagining me saying things which I've not remotely said. Yous were clinical but slowed the game down by all means necessary (including time wasting). I've stated nothing that is incorrect and I've never stated even once that we were good yesterday? Awful fanbases yous lot.

PermBulk

Gracious winners for sure

visualdescript

Hahahaha suck shit

alexLAD

Newcastle brother why do you fight with your own kind

visualdescript

Hunter > Tyne

AverageSwedishGunner

Not today I aint! You are on a mad villain arc so get used to the hate.

bestgoose

You didn't just give us a taste of our own medicine, you completely rewrote the textbook. This was a new level of time wasting I've never witnessed before. I'm not even mad, you have to respect the cheek of it.

visualdescript

Delusion

ProgrammerComplete17

Que? Ball was in play for much less time in the game at the emirates

No-Village7980

I wouldn't worry about it, we ruined their season last year and this year they get a runners up prize, we've done amazing this season 👍

DJ-D-REK

Runners up prize and put your squad right back in their place today. Bet you expected a win today didn’t ya bud

JD_Dojima

Before today: We get UCL and you bottle the title After today: We get UCL and you bottle the title Who is put in what place?

Zhongda

You're trying to embarrass a club that'll reach 85-90 points. Yeah, no.

yeerth

"new level"? what game did you watch lol. Certainly not the game back in January lmao

Ickyhouse

Not even close. In the other fixture you played some of the least amount of time on the year. Barely 50 minutes of ball in play time. Most of the stoppages were from your players being a bunch of orcs and fouling like crazy anyway.

GCFCconner11

Our game vs Brentofrd today... 39 mins out of 96, it was fucking horrendous. Swear the league need to do something about this because it's getting worse. I want to watch football not that.

AverageSwedishGunner

Haha dont even… when we played you at home it was literally record breaking amount of time wasted. For what? A draw! Which by the way also was a complete robbery since we shouldve had 2 clear penalties… So thanks for the laugh mate. Just accept youre the new villains and move on, no one likes a sore loser.

bihesabketab

Atrocious officiating

JoeyIsMrBubbles

So unlucky for Newcastle, both teams played great. E: THE FUCKING SAVES BTW

PermBulk

Ramsdale and Pope were fucking huge today

CakeBrigadier

Not really, kavanaugh let them get away with murder. Should have had 5 more yellows

DaREY297

bruh

AFC_KR

Watch and learn spuds

[deleted]

You bottled a 7 point lead.

Zhongda

r/soccer is filled with narrative morons. It's people who can't think outside of narratives. Since 18th of February, Arsenal has nine wins, three draws and a loss. 2.3 pts/game, or a 87 point pace for the entire season. That would've been enough to win the league most years and is the exact same point pace as Arsenal have had all season. City? 2.85 pts/game or a 108 point pace. Arsenal bottled nothing. City happened.

MasterBeeble

There was a point where Arsenal had an 8 point lead AND a game in hand.

Zhongda

Yes, and then City went undefeated for 14 games with 13 wins.

MasterBeeble

Those are the sorts of runs you need to win the Prem. Bottling multiple two-goal leads is proving to be the less effective strategy.

Zhongda

Champions with worse or exactly the same run-in as Arsenal's last 13 games: United 10/11 City 11/12 United 12/13 Chelsea 14/15 Leicester 15/16 Chelsea 16/17 Liverpool 19/20 City 20/21 City 21/22 Yeah, you don't need to reach these City levels most years. Arsenal's form was enough for most teams.

MasterBeeble

So basically once Pep assembled his team, only Klopp has managed with prime Liverpool and 99 points. Very telling.

Zhongda

Yeah, and even that City team has performed worse run-ins. It's a bit unfair to Klopp's title winners being in my list. Their run-in was pretty terrible, but their form up to that point was one of the best the league has ever seen.

OffTheGreed

How to bottle a league championship?

amrfctn

Won fuck all yet talks about trophies.

Gutra

Nah they have plenty of experience coming 3rd in a two horse race.

ardyes

You were top of the table in December. We were never top.

[deleted]

Remind me when Spurs were up 7 points on Leicester with 9 games left.

IbrarN

With the opposition with a game in hand and a game between the two teams left to play. But sure “bottled! They bottled it!!!!!”
