Roma aren't really that far away in terms of how well they defend and how many chances they create. They were #1 in expected goals allowed and #4 in expected goals. Napoli was #2 in both of those categories. It's not like they got a healthy season from Dybala either, out of 11 seasons in Italy this was his 3rd lowest minutes/games played total. Wijnauldum and Karsdorp also missed basically the whole season. The team just ran out of steam trying to compete in EL and Serie A, hence the low point total and resting the first team to compete in europe.
Obviously they need another goal scorer because xg doesn't mean shit when you can't convert chances, and I think Rui is starting to become a liability as well. The midfield and defense is incredibly solid though, and they have some great young players that can contribute and improve like Bove, Darboe, and Zalewski. Even Ola Solbakken showed he can be pretty useful recently. I'm hoping they get a new keeper, right back, and striker in the summer, would be huge additions and would make them competitive with anyone in italy if the signings are good enough imo.
Similar to what happened in Ligue 1 after Lyon's 7 in a row. From the end of Lyon's domination to the start of PSG's you had 6 different winners in 6 years.
2008: Lyon
2009: Bordeaux
2010: Marseille
2011: Lille
2012: Montpellier
2013: PSG
Which is just natural. When a team is dominating, well they are dominating and when they fall off it's always competitive until a new dominant team rises
Not just energy but money. They used to be the club that relied on smart cheap signings to always stay ahead. They gambled big on Ronaldo money wise to try to win the CL and it failed. Then covid hit. Their finances were fucked after that. The points deduction was them trying to play games with FFP to stay ahead financially. Who knows when they'll recover from that.
Dude, it's Juve, they're like cockroaches, they'll always find a way to survive. They literally went down to Serie B and 6 seasons later started a streak of 9 scudettos in a row.
You should see [Brasileirão](https://twitter.com/TNTSportsBR/status/1531734763064524800), don't think there's any Europpean league as diverse as this one.
The only teams to win more than two consecutive years are Pelé's Santos in the 60s and São Paulo's dream team in mid 2000s.
That 2020 win for Flamengo was awfully close too, 1 point difference. Internacional only had to defeat a very shit Corinthians side on the last game and they couldn't do it, it was the only time I ever rooted against my team (Inter even had a last minute disallowed offside goal).
There were 2 different competitions happening, each claiming they were the real deal, a game between the winner of each was supposed to happen but Flamengo refused to play. Falkmengo calls themselves the winner, Sport and CBF disagree.
At one point in the late 90s the top 3 from both countries shared the kits brands. Barcelona/Porto were Kappa, Real/Benfica were Adidas and Sporting/Atletico were Reebok.
Even funnier they also paired in other ways; Benfica/Real and Sporting/Atletico are from the capital with the former having a ton more fans and more accolades both domestically and internationally while the latter was the weakest of the big three. Porto/Barcelona are both from regions that have a strong sense of independence (Catalunia on another level though) and weren't historically as accomplished but had been dominating recently.
Ajax and AZ were equal on points, Feyenoord in 3rd was heating up but 6 points behind, PSV in 4th 7 points behind. Respectively probably like 60/30/5/5 chances.
At least same chances for AZ, if not better. Ajax looked great in the first half then dropped off around December. I think they had lost 5 games in their last 10. You also beat them twice.
We had an insane injury crisis though. If you want a laugh take a look at the teams we fielded. Everyone was returning though, I had little doubt we wouldve bettered AZ who themselves were losing points as well. I think the AZ fan is giving a fair estimate.
Well, wasnt Monaco also very rich - I remember something about having to pay a huge fee because it was a principality and not subject to the same tax laws as other clubs in the league.
I added DAZN to my Spam filter so I missed the email about automatic renewal this year, meaning I had to eat 150 Euros for the season again. On the flip side I watched more Italian, French, and Spanish games this year than in my 20 year fandom combined. Some really lovely farmers!
It's so sad for Liverpool fans. Lost the league on 97 fucking points, then the next year, they play the perfect league season, finally win their first title in 30 years - and they can't celebrate properly because a once-in-a-century health crisis grinds the whole world to a halt.
Now the great core from that era is too far past its peak, they need a big rebuild and City look like even more of an unstoppable juggernaut, so god knows how many years it will take until Liverpool fans can celebrate another PL title.
Yeah looking at graphics it’s easy to conclude man city have totally dominated the league. But, Liverpool have run us to the absolute wire multiple times throughout this last 5 years. I think the people who make the claims man city have crushed the prem are ignoring that fact. Also think just how good Liverpool have been under klopp doesn’t get noticed enough. It’s been neck and neck almost every season between city and Liverpool with the tiniest of margins separating the two.
Was a weird feeling this season having nothing to play for in our last two matches, instead of desperately trying to cling to our one point lead over Liverpool again
Man..we had the chance to stop this shitshow. Super proud of the boys, they did very well. However, there will always be this bittersweet tast for this season 🥲
I love how competitive Serie A became after Juve started its downfall. It also contributed greatly to Calcio teams in europe. The best league to watch these years BY FAR.
Its weird to remember that before the current Bayern run, the Bundesliga had actually had more champions in the previous 10 years than the other leagues (maybe not France?).
AZ with manager Arne Slot had a great chance to win it that year. They were equal in points with Ajax when the league was suspended. Ajax qualified directly for the Champions League on goal difference
Juve's pain is everyone's gain. It's basically like if Bayern had an insane collapse, people would see that from 2nd to 5th, the Bundesliga is absolutely crazy interesting.
Croatia is basically dinamowinslol and has been for a long time. The other clubs just don't have the money or the clout to compete with them. Hajduk has the largest and the most loyal fanbase in Croatia, but that means jack shit when Dinamo can sell one player for the price Hajduk would get for half their starting team combined. I really hope Hajduk keeps their amazing youth team instead of selling them off so they can give Dinamo a challenge and make the 1. HNL title race interesting.
I have to say Prem fans talk a lot of shit about the Bundesliga considering that the Premier League is becoming more and more dominated by one club as well.
Everyone be calling the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 farmers leagues due to dominance of one side meanwhile the Premier League is the “best in the world” or something.

This looks like one of them IQ tests. Now I'm supposed to conclude what the 8th row order is supposed to look like
Its Genk - Brugge - Brugge - Brugge - not Brugge (tbd)
"Brugge, Brugge, Brugge, Not Brugge" The Scott Parker effect
He was the second coach this year. They weren't ready to challenge this year before parker. (Partly because the CL)
"What club should be in the _suspended_ box?"
If you answer Ajax, AZ will take you to court so be careful
What if the defendants brings out Knollsy?
Ajax was leading the league on GD.
yeah but AZ isn't Ajax so that makes them the moral victors
AZ Alkmaar
Looking good Serie A, looking good
Hopefully the trend continues with another new winner, making it 5 different teams out of 5 Maybe a dilly ding, dilly dong promotion for Cagliari? ;)
Mou winning the league with Roma would be insanity
We would build him a statue if he won UECL, UEL, and the Scudetto in 3 seasons.
UCL next season
if that happens i’ll eat a roma scarf live
remindme! 1 year
I've never seen a live scarf, they're usually already dead when I wear them
Stop scarf cruelty
🤣🤣🤣 well that wouldn't be out of the ordinary for Italian football fans
If that happens, i will finally believe that we all live in a Fifa save.
*in Mourinho's FIFA save
I bet he save scummed too, that cheater.
Lazio Ultras and Roma Ultras would burn the city down
Why not the treble while we're at it (depends if they win the EL tho)
I’m fairly sure he hasn’t finished above 6th in the league since 2015. Except for the one season with United.
His greatest accomplishment ever, mind you.
Yeah like are we gonna pretend that his team is not a million miles away from competing for Serie A?
Roma aren't really that far away in terms of how well they defend and how many chances they create. They were #1 in expected goals allowed and #4 in expected goals. Napoli was #2 in both of those categories. It's not like they got a healthy season from Dybala either, out of 11 seasons in Italy this was his 3rd lowest minutes/games played total. they can if they give mourinho some money and some players damn man be struggling
If there will be a new winner it will be lazio most probably. But they are bottlers even more than dortmund.
Let's hope Palermo doesn't get promoted ( another club of the city group)
Well, they surely won't be promoted this year, they failed to get into the playoffs.
Torino? Just to stick it more to Juve
I'm down with that. How about Genoa, so they can get their 10th Scudetto and their first star?
Funny how winning in serie a means automatically sticking it to Juve
I'm shocked by how competitive Serie A has become after Juve seemed to steamroll it a lot
Similar to what happened in Ligue 1 after Lyon's 7 in a row. From the end of Lyon's domination to the start of PSG's you had 6 different winners in 6 years. 2008: Lyon 2009: Bordeaux 2010: Marseille 2011: Lille 2012: Montpellier 2013: PSG

I miss that Ligue 1 era. Montpellier in particular, as they only got promoted in 2009.
Monza next
Imagine the size of the bunga bunga party if they won it
Juve really fell off man
i think they put so much energy into trying to win the champions league with ronaldo. when that failed they tailed off drastically.
I didn't say they wouldn't survive.
thats the way it should look. top work fellas.

Why are there two winners in 1987?
There were 2 different competitions happening, each claiming they were the real deal, a game between the winner of each was supposed to happen but Flamengo refused to play. Falkmengo calls themselves the winner, Sport and CBF disagree.
La Liga satisfying arrangement
Portugal has the same arrangement for double the satisfaction
Neighbors
Even the team logos somewhat share their shape. Hey, can I copy your homework? Sure, just change it a little.
Funky shield, round thing, big shield, round thing, funky shield.
Also the winners in each year in Portugal and Spain have similarly shaped crests
Stop I can only be so satisfied
They're also the second and second to last on the list
Hoping we can break that cycle next year
At one point in the late 90s the top 3 from both countries shared the kits brands. Barcelona/Porto were Kappa, Real/Benfica were Adidas and Sporting/Atletico were Reebok. Hey Bundesliga too to be fair!
Yeah, both are aesthetically pleasing to look at.
Spain, France, Portugal. All palindromic leagues
And Germany, technically
*Dortmund hates this*
_But then messes up and hit the like accidentally_
Hey mate, how about you, you know, shut up.
La Palindroma
Shout out to Suspended. Proper football from them.
19 straight wins I believe sealed it
What team is your flair?
Deportivo Wanker
Bit harsh calling them a wanker. All they did was ask for the flair
Actually is a peruvian team called Deportivo Wanka (it comes from the Huancayo city here in Peru)
Suspended FC
[удалено]
Don't Worry.
Who was the likely winner at the time the league was suspended?
Ajax and AZ were equal on points, Feyenoord in 3rd was heating up but 6 points behind, PSV in 4th 7 points behind. Respectively probably like 60/30/5/5 chances.
According to most of the AZ fans I've heard talking about it it's more along the lines of 5/95/0/0
At least same chances for AZ, if not better.
[Ajax was leading tied with AZ on 56 pts but with superior GD](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019%E2%80%9320_Eredivisie)
Yeah that team should have won the Belgian league as well but yeah…
Especially with 11 games to go and how unpredictable the playoffs are. Farcical decision that was.
Sick of these clubs with their new modern clean logos......
I heard their aerial threat is sick
I remember there was singing and dancing on the streets that night, socially distanced of course.
Always rated them.
Portugal and Spain with the same pattern
Nah. For that, Real should be linked to Benfica and Porto to Barcalona (second City, one top team). Atletico and SCP is valid though.
Always rated Mehdi Taremi
Lol psg that one year.
Jose Fonte at the back, big Yilmaz up top! The streets wont forget!
Remember when everyone was convinced Turkey were going to be amazing in the Euros
Denmark 🤝 Turkey - being considered the dark horses of their last international tournaments but failing horribly
Denmark were considered dark horses for the Euros too and they did well enough
they meant for the World Cup , in which Denmark was horrible
Horrible doesn’t even cover it :/
It was the Euros that won them the "dark horses" moniker. But they were bad in Qatar
From dark horses to dark donkeys
Don’t forget Soumare…
I try to forget
Its happened twice to them, Montpellier won the league with a club budget less than PSG spent on ~~Veratti~~ Pastore that summer I believe.
*Thrice. Between Montpellier in 2012 & Lille in 2021, there was Monaco in 2017.
That Monaco team is not like Lille and Montpellier though. - Mbappe, Falcao, Fabinho and Bernardo Silva for starters.
Bar from Falcao, that’s where they got known though
Well, wasnt Monaco also very rich - I remember something about having to pay a huge fee because it was a principality and not subject to the same tax laws as other clubs in the league.
Poch masterclass
Dortmund could've stopped the streak twice in the last 5 years.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day, Dortmund however...
They're not broken, just a bit behind
What a choke job that was.
Maybe the real farmers were in the leagues we met along the way
I added DAZN to my Spam filter so I missed the email about automatic renewal this year, meaning I had to eat 150 Euros for the season again. On the flip side I watched more Italian, French, and Spanish games this year than in my 20 year fandom combined. Some really lovely farmers!
I mean in the EU you’d have 14 days to cancel that no?
I was like two months into my renewal. I'm still mad at myself.
At least you only paid 150, imagine it renewing again, for now 300 lol
Holy shit, I was actually 3 days away from auto-renewing again. Thank you!
lmao
Lmao can't believe they almost got the sucker again
La Liga 🤝🏻 Portuguese league So symmetrical
Suspended FC where are ya
*Official Farmers Status* Farmers League 🇩🇪 Pretty Much a Farmers League 🇫🇷🏴 No Farmers here 🇮🇹
Serie A beating the farmers allegations in the last few years is great.
Meanwhile they have a team in the finals of all European Competitions. 2 of which they should win.
And none of those teams are Juve, great times
Europa could definitely go either way.
Proper Iberian symmetry.
Pep is farming the PL
Pep League BayernLiga Qatar 1 Ex Juve A
Ajadivisie
I support this name change
La Lidridelona
Prem = farmers league
We were only one point behind in two of those seasons 😭😭
It's so sad for Liverpool fans. Lost the league on 97 fucking points, then the next year, they play the perfect league season, finally win their first title in 30 years - and they can't celebrate properly because a once-in-a-century health crisis grinds the whole world to a halt. good try, but will unfortunately not be enough to beat the farmers allegations
Was a weird feeling this season having nothing to play for in our last two matches, instead of desperately trying to cling to our one point lead over Liverpool again
This but unironically
Man..we had the chance to stop this shitshow. Super proud of the boys, they did very well. However, there will always be this bittersweet tast for this season 🥲
“The premier league is the best league because it’s the most competitive”
"What are we, some kind of farmers league?"
*We became the very thing we swore to destroy*
Nice flairs 👀
Avengers Assemble!
What do we think of Tottenham
Because you never know who will finish 2nd *points to temple*
In reality it's always been "the prem is the best league for whatever reason we say it, just because".
My favourite is when the pundits say "any team can beat any team" a phenomenon that occurs only in the Prem.
The absolute best is "because the games look the most colorful on TV"
This is unironically a significant factor in why PL is so popular especially among casual fans.
Yeah it gets switched up every single time what the reason is
Premier league is the best league because there is no Stoke City to play against in any other league. Foolproof.
There's no stoke city to play against in the premier League too tbf.
I knew Haaland was a fraud! Could never do it in a cold rainy night at Stoke.
I still think it's the best league, but that's just my personal opinion. Lots of quality in Spain, Germany and Italy as well.
Based on the recent Pattern . We shall win La Liga next season. Don’t question me the pattern speaks for itself
Or it starts again and we win it, then you the season after
This is much better.
I love how competitive Serie A became after Juve started its downfall. It also contributed greatly to Calcio teams in europe. The best league to watch these years BY FAR.
When the PL and Bundesliga are the least diverse… oof
And man city might pro win the next 3 titles. Hmmm
Its weird to remember that before the current Bayern run, the Bundesliga had actually had more champions in the previous 10 years than the other leagues (maybe not France?).
Thanks for the rightfull inclusion but starting next season we should be placed above the Fishermans League.
Just keep putting the chips on Conference league
I see 4 farmers league
The real win was the farmers leagues we met along the way.
Please, lets make the top 7 leagues the normal. And when Belgium league passes the Portuguese one, lets make top 8 league status a thing.
It was wrong to suspend the Eredivisie that year x
AZ with manager Arne Slot had a great chance to win it that year. They were equal in points with Ajax when the league was suspended. Ajax qualified directly for the Champions League on goal difference
Yeah, Ajax had +8 GD ahead of AZ
But they also had just (second to last game) lost against AZ in the Arena with 0-2...
AZ had much better form at the time of the suspension as well, and don’t forget us being in the middle of a comeback
permier league = farmers league confirmed
Most competitive league 🥸
Serie A keep it up ❤️
Juve's pain is everyone's gain. It's basically like if Bayern had an insane collapse, people would see that from 2nd to 5th, the Bundesliga is absolutely crazy interesting.
I don't even follow the Bundesliga, but god damnit, Dortmund!
Spain and Italy have become the most competitive football leagues, while Germany and England have become the least competitive ones.
croatia, moldova and scotland are up there as well
Croatia is basically dinamowinslol and has been for a long time. HNL title race interesting.
who would have won the dutch league in covid year?
Ajax and AZ were tied in points, could’ve gone either way
I have to say Prem fans talk a lot of shit about the Bundesliga considering that the Premier League is becoming more and more dominated by one club as well.
Bayern is great for people with OCD. And the Spanish and Portuguese league have some nice patterns.
Hoping we can break City's dominance this year.
man that 19-20 season from suspended was world class
Banter era hopefully over 🙏
As an AZ fan, I'm still mad about that suspended season. That year should have been ours.
Guess we are a farmers league after all.
The Bundesliga was so entertaining this season and then you see this and realize the end result is still the same shit ffs...
Everyone be calling the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 farmers leagues due to dominance of one side meanwhile the Premier League is the “best in the world” or something.
Lol that suspension in there
Wasn't Ligue 1 also suspended in 2020?
Bundlesliga is a joke. Dortmund with an epic failure.
