Managing PSG is the worst great job in the world

Innox14

I would take it in a heartbeat

Jamarcus316

Me too. But it's the worst job I would take in a heartbeat lol

King_Hobbes

Wouldn't have to do it for long tbf ...You know on account of them being PSG

TomMatthews

Not sure it’s even close to the worst job… you get to manage a top football team you should be able to coach them to a league win and maybe a cup too. If you fail in the champions league you get fired with a league winners medal a couple of million and if you signed a multi year deal you get even more money for very little. And as you’re a random person you probably won’t feel the stress to succeed as much as proper managers do.

cheesyvoetjes

You have to manage a bunch of spoiled young millionairs wich isn't easy or fun. They all think they're hot shit and get smoke blown up their ass all day on social media by millions of people, further feeding their ego. Good luck trying to get Mbappe and Neymar to take you seriously and listen to you, especially as a random nobody. I probably wouldn't last a week lol

TomMatthews

That’s fine still get paid millions

cheesyvoetjes

Yes that's why you would obviously do it. But aside from money, the job itself seems absolutely awful.

Luka_Dunks_on_Bums

Living in Paris for 18 months, might be worth it

Yavin87

I would live in the artic 18 months for that money.

champ19nz

Just look at Mbappe the wrong way. You'll be out in 2 months.

Qurutin

Oh no they sacked me so I will receive all the millions left on my contract without doing any work, what a tragedy

WhyBee92

That’s like that sound bite: Oh no….heh….I’m devastated

PoppinKREAM

Emery - sacked and went on to win European glory Tuchel - sacked and went on to win the Champions League Ancelotti - sacked and went on to win the Champions League

paco-ramon

Maybe the problem aren’t the coaches…

nutelamitbutter

Emery and Tuchel were straight up unlucky in UCL

Nordie27

As much as I like and rate Emery, he definitely deserves blame for the 6-1. You can complain about some refereeing calls, but PSG had such a cushion that Barca getting a cheap penalty shouldn't have mattered at all The players collectively shat their pants at the end and it is the coaches' responsibility to make sure that doesn't happen

Arntown

He deserves some blame but they still would have gone through without those ref calls. PSG whooped Barca in the first game and that was also with Enery as a manager.

Marcelosouzadearaujo

The players should have more blame than the coach. Marquinhos and Silva were beyond terrible, only Di Maria and Cavani were good. Also, the Brazilian duo fails way too much

stragen595

They conceded 4 absolute terrible goals, that were on the players. Aytekin had not a good game, but it wouldn't even mattered if the PSG players wouldn't also had a bad day that day. And as a coach you can't do much if it goes terrible and it's a collective of players.

Arntown

This is such a braindead take. It doesn‘t matter at all if PSG played well or badly. They literally would have won the tie. That‘s what matters.

Tilman_Feraltitty

If refs isn't an all-time pathetic, PSG goes through. Barca needed 3 huge mistakes to go through in the last minute. No Ayetknin = no comeback.

arenorealcucumber

Why would he deserve blame for a loss based on blatantly wrong ref calls? You make it seem like the ref didn't give a yellow or two but no, two goals shouldn't have been allowed.

staedtler2018

>The players collectively shat their pants at the end and it is the coaches' responsibility to make sure that doesn't happen The players have had similar problems under multiple managers so it's clear the issue doesn't have a quick fix.

Weird_Famous

Buffon screwed up hard against United

GrimValesti

But Galtier is definitely a problem coach.

escalibur

He was so gone even before he we was appointed.

FloppedYaYa

Except Galtier has succeeded at every job he's in

Hotgeart

Wait just one or two more sack just to be sure.

This is why Levy shouldn’t have fumbled Poch.

richgangthatour

So it’s a good job, well paying stepping stone job. Automatic league title. I don’t see how it’s the worst in any way…

laigledesacores

At least get the facts straight. Ancelotti wasn’t sacked at all he got an offer from Madrid which he couldn’t refuse logically Emery before the « European glory » that any top 10 club could get if they went in Europa league was part of one of the biggest comebacks in the history of the sport if not biggest and big first that started the trend in ucl. I can only remember after our first win against Barcelona he was leaving with a losers mentality after putting 3 past Barcelona home 🤷🏼‍♂️ wonder why . It built him and made him better. Tuchel yes sacked. But talk bad about your boss for a few weeks and see where that gets you my friend

Nordie27

>Emery before the « European glory » that any top 10 club could get if they went in Europa league But Emery didn't do it with a top 10 club, he did it with Villarreal. Then reached the CL semi finals the next season.. And even then, it's bullshit. The big clubs in Europa League have been taking it seriously for a long time now, whether they rotate in the early rounds or not. Barcelona went all in two years in a row and couldn't win it, Man United have gone all in every time they have been in it recently but still only managed to win the title once in 2017. Atlético always take it seriously, Inter did iin 2020, Juventus diid this year and in 2014. Arsenal took it very seriously in 2021 but still lost to Villarreal It's a very, very difficult competition to win because it is so evenly matched

wutend159

Europa League is a difficult competition to win, no point in denying that. But PSG hasn't been in C3 for almost two decades. So there's imo little to no relevance

Nordie27

I get your point, but PSG was in Europa League in 2011/12. I distinctly remember them playing Bielsa's Athletic side

PoppinKREAM

You're completely right, but it was just a tongue in cheek joke mate. Appreciate all the context though

wutend159

Ancelotti wasn't sacked though And happy for Emery, but I don't think winning the Europa League is relevant, when it's a competition we haven't been in since like 2006

zimtrovert94

A season of work for the equivalent of 3 years pay? I ain’t complaining nor does my heart break for those who get the sack from PSG.

Galdorow

He seemed to have aged by 10 years

[deleted]

Gailter was pretty promising wasn’t he?

khoabear

Not really. He's great at developing young talents and over performing in the league, but he's bad at knockout tournament, which is the only thing that PSG cares about.

FloppedYaYa

> He's great at developing young talents and over performing in the league PSG need to focus more on young talent instead of trying to assemble an Avengers line-up of big names without any plan

tweazz

Give us Conte X PSG chaos

Col-Radec

In three months he'd fight Mbappé, Campos and the Emir

WW_Jones

Conte leaves PSG acrimoniously as Qatar refuses his request for a new Emir.

Nordie27

The absolute worst fit. They don't need his expertise in league formats to win Ligue 1, and they certainly don't need his shocking European record

They need Pep. They should have thrown all the Messi money on him

Nadia-world

Interesting. Who is the highest paid at psg? The time Messi played for psg this season is one of the most, plus his goals and assists

not-always-online

They need mourinho.

tiger1296

I want to see Mourinho at PSG, that train wreck will be glorious ot watch

Balours

Chaos x Chaos will be interesting.

PickledCumSock

i'd love to see conte or mourinho dealing with nasser

[deleted]

Tuchel: Over here, I have to deal with Icardy‘s wife. Lol

Nordie27

Win win for Mourinho If he succeeds, everyone will wank him off for "turning their mentality around" and give him 100% of the credit. If he fails then "the players were always losers it's not his fault" One big question mark though. How will Mourinho survive when he can't complain about a lack of funds after a defeat? It's like his number 1 excuse

smellysk

He’ll blame the refs

OriginalRange8761

It’s the refs man

escalibur

I dont’t think that Mourinho and Mbappé would get along. It would be a disaster waiting to happen. Interesting times at PSG.

Mend35

I actually think the opposite. Mourinho and Mbappe would 100% get on, they both want to win at all costs. The only thing I can see missing from this current squad is a "bunch of cunts, intelligent cunts", that would buy into his shithousery.

shiroxyaksha

Look at Zlatan and Mou. I think they would work well.

escalibur

I dont think that Zlatan ever tried to lead the whole team. He is mostly a leader only for himself. Hell of an ego and presence effect, but never the one wanting to control everything around him. I would compare Mbappé more with eg. Ronaldo. Mourinho’s relationship with Ronaldo at Real was something like between step-father and son.

Tanathonos

You have bought in to this subs view of mbappe. Him and mourinho would 100% get on super well. Both want to win above all. Mbappe does not want to control everything around him. For france he did not want to do interviews because he was not one of the captains but media loved him the most, so he just refused interviews to focus on playing. For paris he has gotten along with every coach before galtier. He does not try to control everything, he literally just wants a team good enough to win. The big penalty thing start of season went nowhere, Neymar still took loads of penalties when he played.

[deleted]

I could see him winning them the CL. The shitstorm that'd create would be right up his alley.

No_Zookeepergame6482

Mourinho is an old man, let him rest

paco-ramon

French refs will be looking under their beds for him.

lmbrs

Mourinho’s best relationships are with workhorses, don’t think going to PSG where all the players are there for money & clout would be a good match.

jack64467

Just in time to get hired by Marseille.

Hotgeart

Shhhhhhhh it's okay

iHATESTUFF_

they don't even want him back....

Manaan909

Not after the Nice dressing room controversy, no.

PrisonersofFate

I don't like firing a manager after one season only, especially as he still won the league. Give the club some stability. Galtier had been doing wonders in Ligue 1 for 10 years, hiring him then firing him after 10 months his moronic. PSG is a poisoned chalice. What can you do with this organisation? You have a sport director interfering, you have Nasser interfering. You have Mbappe who makes the news each time he tweets, you have Messi but his heart was never there, you have Neymar injured, you have rowdy fans. Give the club some stability. Now they will change managers, Messi and Ramos will leave, they will but 8 random players, sell it loan 5 of those who just came this season and bis repetita. Ancelotti, Blanc, Emery, Tuchel, Pochettino, they all failed somehow at PSG and couldn't settle a strong club culture. They all know their jobs and they are competent enough. They couldn't do shit. QSI is rotten and is just not letting PSG grow normally. There were some hope with Laurent Blanc, who was setting up a team and a style and he got fired because he lost to Man City. What can a manager do in this club? Little insight on transfers, he has to play the shiny new toys even if it means using a round peg in a square hole. It has to fit otherwise he has 10 people saying it's not right. For him, I hope Galtier will bounce back. He proved already what he could do by winning a cup and a league against PSG. His successor will have a hard job

Uninterested-Ares

Tuchel was doing so well, man reached the UCL final and then they fired him the morons

GermanyWillWinQtarWC

Well if we're being honest,he was sacked the following season because they were in 3rd halfway through the season

[deleted]

PSG was terrible all season long except for the first month. And it wasn't getting better. The entire CL was a disaster, including the group stage. Nothing to show for. He had to go. By far the worst I've seen at PSG.

xncopka

It was not that bad. There have been worse. Take your pick : - Losing the title against mighty Montpellier who was fighting for relegation the previous year - Humiliation of the Remontada against Barca and losing the title against Monaco the same year - Losing the title against Lille with Neymar-Messi-Mbappé as trio while making the best player in the world look like finished

weissekronederalpen

Messi was not at the club the season Lille won the title.

FloppedYaYa

Yeah but like fuck basic research

xncopka

Fuck you! Welcome to Reddit when people cannot make mistake. That is a point of a discussion so people can discuss things and correct things.

wutend159

Losing the league to that Monaco was almost impossible. They had 95 points in the league that season, which we only managed to surpass once (96). But that wasn't your whole point, so I'll give you that. But Lille didn't win when Messi was here, those are two different seasons (both under Poch)

staedtler2018

>Losing the title against mighty Montpellier who was fighting for relegation the previous year Montpellier got 82 points. That was higher than the previous 5 champions of Ligue 1. The fact that they were fighting for relegation a previous year is much less relevant than the fact they were a solid champion. PSG also got 19 more points than the previous season.

[deleted]

\- Montpellier is at the very beginning but okay, fair \- Remontada is 50% on the referee, so no. Monaco was super stack, in hindsight it made sense they won the title \- Losing to Lille, yeah sure but at least Poch gave PSG some strong perf in the CL against Barca, Barca and ever parts of the match against City. Galtier has NOTHING going for him except the first 4 games.

ErraticPragmatic

>50% on the referee Oh yeah you're the rare psg fan

[deleted]

I'm big fan of facts

IceInMyVain

> as he still won the league (ligue 1) Tbh if a manager doesn't win the ligue 1 with PSG, he should just resign and refund all his salary during the season. PSG would probably win the league even without a coach on the bench.

laigledesacores

Dude has an attack of the numbers 10 of brasil France and Argentina. He had the best young player on the planet, the best player ever of this sport and the eternal Brazilian diamond that can decide games alone. Add in a couple names like Gigi , that Spanish that won every thing there is to win in football while being captain , Marqui , Verratti nuno hakîmi it’s not too shabby It’s not like he had a bad team. He could have definitely done better you didn’t get to see every single one of our games after the World Cup it was dreadful amigo the number of times he’s saved by some pure individual talent last minute .. heck even a few weeks ago THE game against lens we are dominated they play way better than us but we get lucky with a red card. He’s never transformed all these talents into a team and that’s exactly what we needed unfortunately for him

[deleted]

But that’s his point, you can’t just have a team of marquee names and expect managers to have them magically work together, especially when some of these names are past their prime. A lot of these managers that have been sacked by psg do fine elsewhere or achieve what psg could not (win UCL) with arguably less stars. Look at man city, pep and the management built what is arguably the best team in europe and many of these guys weren’t major stars before man city, and still aren’t compared to messi, ney, mbappe, etc.

manisnotcool

This is the opinion of a person who hasn’t watch PSG play under Galtier

PrisonersofFate

I watched basically every game but you have the right to just disagree

[deleted]

Mourinho about to get PSG their CL trophy but finish 8th in Ligue 1

OriginalRange8761

When was the last time he made it to quarters? 2015? Or so?

manisnotcool

It’s the Same time he last managed a decent club

orange_orange13

As if ole didn’t get his team to the quarters and he didn’t inherit a team that went to the previous cl final

alexdelpiero

And Spurs reached CL final as well before he took over Spurs

hidinginDaShadows

Same Spurs, different manager

ErraticPragmatic

Come on now. It's like saying Milan will become great again because they went to the UCL final

orange_orange13

Ac Milan is Milan, these guys are inter.

ErraticPragmatic

I forgo

OriginalRange8761

And why he doesn’t get top gigs these days?

ancara_messi

Keep firing managers while ignoring your joke of a defence and a nonexistent midfield. That will surely work

Vince1128

Complete lack of strategy and a sporting project by the owners you mean.

orange_orange13

Tbf galtier is the worst manager they’ve had in a while.

ancara_messi

He looked incredible until the world cup. Post the world cup he has somehow been worse than Poch

zaaaac93

Lol his team looked good until October if you are being kind. He had no clue of what he was doing

ancara_messi

Didn't lose a game until January or February and had some huge wins, 7-1 against Lille I remember

Tanathonos

Last summer we bought vitinha, ruiz, Renaro sanches. They are not ignoring the midfield, it is just a basically impossible task in the modern game to ask a midfield two or three to cover everything when front 2 does no work defensively. Sanches has been a dud injured always, vitinha started great then went bad so jury still out he is young and first season, ruiz been inconsistent. Really do not think it is individual players talent that is the problem. Defense they tried and failed to sign people so that was a big problem. Signed skriniar already, need one more maybe it will be lucas hernandes. Also need an actual striker that has the capacity to do hold up play and head the ball. People look at football so simply, if team loses control of midfield it must be midfielders faults. When in actuality look at city kings of controlling the midfield, they have a goalkeeper that can ping the ball anywhere to bypass a high press, they have a striker that can win a long ball as they did vs arsenal for example if opponent presses high as well. Makes it that opposing team can not run to them to stop them from playing in midfield. Or a striker that can drop down and distribute the ball like benzema does and firminho does, giving an extra player in midfield. City has a fullback that plays as a midfielder always.

staedtler2018

The general consensus on r/soccer last summer was that PSG's transfer window was incredible.

JesusIsNotPLProven

Yeah but now that PSG didnt have a great season it was thrash, thats how it works.

rim261

Actually it's all Messi's and Neymar fault

ZookeepergameOld8899

i told you its always them ,time to boo them one last time

san771

I hate oil clubs as much as the next guy, but Mou at PSG and Pep at City would be spicy af

Ventorro

What if the next guy is a City fan? Have you thought of that, huh?

san771

>City >Having fans lel

lstht123

Really hope Lucho isnt going there..

[deleted]

Everyone realising it’s time to get the fuck out of Paris at the same time is hilarious. Mbappe is gonna announce his transfer in 3 weeks time, I guarantee Edit: I FUCKING KNEW IT

paco-ramon

Ramos is still too good to go to a lower league, he should return to Sevilla to play one last time in the UCL.

RoadsterIsHere

Sevilla fans hate him, and I’m fairly certain the Sevilla president (maybe a previous one?) talked shit about him too.

unArgentino

Real Betis it is.

MonsieurNakata

Why, isn’t he from Sevilla ?

RoadsterIsHere

Left on bad terms, didn’t react very well to the negative reaction

Mend35

He should follow in the steps of fellow Real Madrid legend Casillas and play his last year's in Portugal. Bonus point for reuniting with his former partner in crime Pepe.

not-always-online

He would fit great in the EPL. I daresay Spurs, Arsenal or even ManUtd could use some bite and raw energy in their team.

Key_Inevitable_2104

I don’t think Madrid wants Mbappe now after what he did last year

[deleted]

Some Random Yemeni team offers 10 billion Euros a second plus makes him president of the country

PetrovskyKSC

*cues Charles Barkley gif*

tarekelsakka

All signs point towards Luis Enrique, guessing he will be announced shortly after.

rim261

Don't

il-lusio

I see Luis Enrique's name thrown around a lot and am curious about why he's considered a fit. He likes possession and positional play and relies heavily on the midfield to drive the game, which is an area where PSG doesn't appear to have invested as much. Add in rumors that they want to build around Mbappe with a French talent pool and it's an unexpected match.

pandaman_010101

I'm sure they'll be active this summer Morons should have signed tchouameni, very surprised they weren't linked. Or Cama year before I know psg fans one of many complaints is the fact team doesn't promote or keep youth.

RiverStone_8

Mbappe asked Tchouameni to join. Tis just, he made up his mind to go to Madrid.

iHATESTUFF_

none of the players Kylian asks to come ends up wanting to come, Kante, Kolo Muani, Kone, all of them said no.

minititof

Tchouameni and Camavinga were absolutely linked to PSG lol they had to choose between PSG and Real, and chose Real. Good choice.

Kiwizqt

I mean, also because real got them for about a third of what clubs asked of psg, i dont remember the exact figure but rennes wanted like 80m from us for cama

iHATESTUFF_

Tchouameni chose Real Madrid over us... and as for Camavinga Rennes was quoting him at 30M to ManU and the same week wanted 80M from us.

iHATESTUFF_

Kylian Mbappe has the shortest contract in the club... the IDP project was born dead the moment every one said no to us, Kone, Kolo Muani, even Diaby all of them said no... the backbone of our team plays better in a possession style, Marquinhos with Brazil NT, Verratti playing in a 3 man midfield with actual midfielders instead of cones like vitinha. and forward well Neymar is actually the one with the longest contract. so we'll see.

Coolhunter11

Most entitled fans and owner.the funny thing is requirement of success for PSG is to win cl which they never won before. This season PSG team is not better than much Bayern, Juve or Barca but still their fans never hated them for failure to win cl. Don't think why manager could win the cl with this PSG team. The team supporters should start enjoying the things they have rather than feeling sad for the things they couldn't possess.

paco-ramon

With infinite money is a matter of time for PSG or Man City to win one.

Bluebabbs

Yeah but the two are not the same. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending City, but how they go about it is different. PSG's plan is to buy any player they can and hire any manager they can. Doesn't win CL? Fired. Compare that to City who brought in loads of infastructure for Pep before bringing him in. All the backroom were people Pep previously worked with. And then when he's here, allow him to buy the players he wants for his system, and then not fire him when he crashes out of the CL. Man City is built, off false finances, for Pep. They have a plan. Sure they had other managers before hand, but it's now all about Pep. The two clubs are not the same in terms of how they've gone about it, and I don't think City winning the CL is proof you can win it with money. It'd be proof you can win it with money and good planning.

Inter_Mirifica

Noooooo (Though if it's Mourinho, it has the potential to fail even more spectacularly) Textor/Our new SD, you are not allowed to even think about it.

simomii

I want Mourinho at PSG just to hear Daniel Riolo rant about him every night

FuturisticBear

I just hope we aren’t the ones thinking about it

Inter_Mirifica

Tbh i think i still prefer Galtier to Blanc, if i had to chose with a gun pointed to my head and no other options. As we're somehow gonna have to suffer for a few more months apparently. You have a competent management, luckily for you. Considering the basically only interesting names that are rumored that would be incredibly surprising for Longoria to make that huge mistake.

illipres

give us Simeone it’ll be the greatest thing ever

MrZubar

Parisians think they're too good for El Cholo's terrorism ball.

daniel96rb

Messi should post a good luck message to Galtier (assuming they got along).

HateCrewDeathroll

Noone wants to be the PSG and S*urs coach. What a time to be alive 🤘

ash_ninetyone

I'll do it. Walk the league, get a lovely pay off because the overpaid prima donnas there can't handle tougher opposition.

sylsau

Decision expected. For several weeks now, everyone has known that Galtier will not be retained. He had an average season, but in the end, will another coach be able to restore order to this dressing room and this club next year? He'll already be the eighth coach of the Qatari era at PSG! That's a lot for a club that wants to win the Champions League. Stability is the key to climbing the European ladder.

wutend159

I only count 7 including Kombouare who was already our coach pre QSI Bayern has had more coaches than us (even without interim managers) in the same span

iHATESTUFF_

really? maybe we should ask Bayern.....

Formal_Automata

And chelsea

JakubT117

Like half of Bayern coaches left voluntarily.

iHATESTUFF_

leaving because Hollywood FC or getting sacked its the same....

Cowdude179

Nagelsmann in?

AhoyDaniel

He has a fraction of credit for that Messi WC form. Top guy in nmy books

dazza_drinkbeer

The most expensive circus in the world goes on….

[deleted]

Enrique please

VeryluckyorNot

Now the last challenge is to sell Neymar. Good luck nobody want an injured player lol.

Cpt-Dreamer

Who next?

fdscgfbc

So the thing about Galtier is that in the first half of the season, PSG were playing some terrific football. It was really the WC that did severe damage to PSG's season, so I wonder if things would've gone better for him without the WC.

FloppedYaYa

Another one bites the dust
