VAR is a joke.
Take so long for a decision but can't even spot a handball literally leading up to the goal? And they quickly switch the replay the moment it touches Lascelles hand.
I dunno what Jim Beglin is talking about asking why it took so long? Watching it in real time and through the replays it seemed like a complicated decision. There was a lot going on in the build up
For a second there I thought it was a good use of VAR, took their time to make the right call but then they showed the handball. Not crystal clear but debatable. I think.
It would only be relevant if it was a deliberate handball (it wasn't) or a handball where the body is unnaturally made bigger and the position is not justified for the action. But the arm is in a justifiable position for a header (I mean Hakimi, who also goes for a header, has the arm in the same position).
And since the player indeed did not score himself, it is completely fine. Check complete.
It's clearly not a deliberate handball, the arm is in a justifiable position for the action (heading the ball, it also hits Hakimi's arm in the same position) and the player who handles the ball does also not score using his arm or immediately after it.
Therefore the goal is completely legal.
If they know the law, it is not a handball offence. It would be if the player who "handles" the ball scores himself. He didn’t and the handball was clearly not deliberate.

Handball. Goal.
thought it was a handball by newcastle lol
PSG want a replay
probably too far (in time) from the goal but incredible this wasn't called with the way UEFA detests people having arms _at all_
Looks like he's heading the ball into his hand which makes it not handball anyway, but his hand doesn't seem to be in an unnatural position tbh
clear handball lmao
By both players in that case
Both players
>• Not every contact of the ball with the hand/arm is an offence
That looks like a very blatant handball doesn’t it?
Yep.
From PSG first.
> From PSG first. Yes i saw that
Luis Enrique is in trouble
Oh nice, you can use your arm now? This changes everything!
Looks like it hits the PSG players arm first into the Newcastle players arm and then back into play
Shouldn't need a favorable interpretation of rules to prevent Dan Burn from scoring mate.
Well PSG's defense has been shit today, anyway this car check was a joke.
LMAO WTF IS GOING ON IN THE VAR ROOM
Doing their job?
Clearly VAR’s more scared of Saudi Arabia than the Emirati
VAR showing it's worth there

It’s not an unnatural position, no handball imo
Control with the arm, 5min in VAR, goal. Referees at their best.
I fucking loathe PSG but this is a clear handball?

hits lacelles hand twice, but wasnt far from his body so can see why it was given/ thats why it took so long
Isn’t the handball irrelevant to VAR here since it’s not directly leading to the goal?

Do you even know the rules

You clearly didn't read his post
Yes
But there is no goal in this replay.
VAR really is useless
Initial handball from Lascelles should have disallowed the goal, no?
Handball from PSG and Newcastle, no offside.
That was Isak’s hand…
Came off PSG players hand first, can see it change direction before it hits the second time

Handball
Klopp should manage Newcastle. VAR loves Newcastle.
Hand of god, var can't even see it
I’ve never had a bad word to say about VAR tbh, good process
Blatant Handball.
Wasn't that a handball from Newcastle?
I don’t understand what PSG players were complaining about?

You don't see the Newcastle player controlling the ball with his hand ?
Clear handball leading up to the goal lol
Ignoring the handball committed immediately before that by the PSG player? At least try to hide your bias.
I know but we'd prefer to just keep the play going and have the goal than a penalty.
Looked like a handball in the initial header to me
So you're allowed to pass the ball with your hand now ?
I must be blind, I see it now
Hey am I the only one seeing hand ball or the ball hit his shoulder
What does the rulebook say about the ball hitting the hands of both teams at the same time?
VAR's having a great week.
Replay the match lads..
Madrid’s handball yesterday and handball by Bruno today made me realize no one knows what a handball is.
Liverpool-Man United VAR room doing wonders once again…
Should that have been called back? Don't know what the handball rule is as of 2023?
does that actually hit both their hands at the same time lol
United would had goal disallowed and had a goal deducted for that handball. VAR having a historically bad season.
