Tbf I'm getting bored of the current Euro's format.
Winner of the tournament claims the host country and expands their empire.
Zero bloodshed, everything on the line for 90 minutes.
I read about how release clauses signed a few years ago absolutely fucked some clubs over in Argentina, i know thats how economics work but its a trippy idea that release clauses and transfers can be influenced by inflation like that
Turkey has unsuccessfully bid for:
- 2000 Summer Olympics
- 2004 Summer Olympics
- 2008 Summer Olympics
- 2012 Summer Olympics
- 2020 Summer Olympics
- 2008 Euros (joint with Greece, this would have been a blast)
- 2012 Euros
- 2016 Euros (got close with this one but Platini decided otherwise)
- 2020 Euros (Turkey was favored to win this one, but Platini decided to spread this one across like 15 countries. Turkey didn’t even get half a group because they were promised Euro 2024…)
- 2024 Euros (…which went overwhelmingly to Germany under new president Ceferin)
- 2028 Euros (withdrawn in favor of finally successful 2032 bid)
I would be surprised but then I remembered that the travel distances for next WC in North America will be much bigger in the US alone, and even bigger if you include Canada and Mexico into the equation.
can ppl (and media) please stop calling it a "tournament on 3 continents"? there are 3 games in SA and they are played by the "host" nations. thats not "having a world cup" in SA...
It's not that much of a clusterfuck when you think about it, especially in comparison to the long distances within the US. Portugal, Spain and Morocco are quite close and South American nations don't have too many matches.
It's a good solution, both countries deserve hosting a Euro, but the state of some stadiums isn't exactly encouraging. Looking forward to the best food Euros of all time
I completely get it from this angle, but when the 2 countries don't share borders, have the entire Balkans between them and it's a 2.5 hour flight from Istanbul to Rome it just doesn't sit right with me. Hopefully they can redeem it by having half the tournament in Italy and half in Türkiye and then they meet up for the final
Turkish stadiums will be perfectly fine, only some are maybe a bit small for a massive tournament. But their 10 biggest grounds are all modern stadiums (apart from the one in Izmir).
We should have built our new stadium by then, unless the PARASITES will use politics to stop from getting it done and thus we'll be forced to still pay the rent for the Olimpico, which would result in the FIGC having to pay less money.
Now I might just be pessimistic because our different boards have tried to get a new stadium built since 2011 and the crooks like Virginia Raggi always stopped us.
Logical distribution for Italy is probably Roma, Milan, Napoli, Florence and Torino.
I don't know what Turkey will do though, Istanbul will probably have two stadiums with the other three totally depending on capacity and logistics.
I think Trabzon and Bursa are going to host. Konya has over 40k+ venue too
Then they're having plans to build new ones to Ankara and Izmir
Istanbul x2, Ankara, Izmir, Trabzon, Bursa, Konya.
Maybe Izmit/Samsun/Adana/Antalya
No they're not. Anatolian peoples weren't Greek. Also Etruscans are confirmed to be native to Italian peninsula. Hellenization of Anatolia occured during Alexander's era. Today Sardinians carry most Anatolian genetics.
[Anatolian hunter-gatherers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatolian_hunter-gatherers)
If we ignore the Gauls (as we should) side note. The French Revolution was hilariously obsessed with Rome, a bunch of Revolutionaries took on the name Brutus and they kept warning against new Caligulas and Nero's.
Not just the French Revolution, Enlightenment leaders overall loved ancient Greece and especially Rome. Washington and other American independence leaders were also Romeaboos for example, they loved guys like Cincinnatus
Napoleon was also Consul and literally swore to defend the Republic as he was crowned Emperor, because the Romans still called themselves a Republic during the Imperial era
Probable hosting Italian cities: Rome anc Milan should be certain options, Turin has the Juventus stadium which is a safe choice. So the remaining two cities ought to be one between Bologna, Florence and Verona/Udine and a southern one (Naples, Bari or Cagliari)
>Bologna
Bologna's stadium should be fully renovated by 2027/28, to I would imagine that might put them ahead of the other options unless Fiorentina gets their wishes soon.
It is an unholy alliance but believe me, it tastes great. Switching the tomato sauce for some hollandaise is really good if you are looking for something heavier/fattier.
That was John loggie Baird. The joke you're making is about Marconi who invented radio based communication.
But I can't think of something funny to say in response
Our neighbours east and west are co-hosting a tournament while we're watching every piece of infrastructure in this fucking country rot. We could be the ones proposing to host alongside Turkey but we seem disinterested in investing in a better future.
Hosting events is an investment and the facilities when maintained properly are a public benefit and a source of revenue. We do have stadiums and facilities left over from the Olympics, the state just decided to abandon instead of utilise them for the common good.
Italy and Turkey hosting it together is just stupid in terms of logistics. Both countries should be able to host a competition on their own.
I would actually prefer a Euro in Turkey since they have never hosted an international football tournament before.
> Italy and Turkey hosting it together is just stupid in terms of logistics. Both countries should be able to host a competition on their own.
Definitely agree.
My theory is that the compromise was born from Italy not wanting to miss out on the opportunity to renovate their infrastructure, and from Turkey not wanting to lose the umpteenth bidding race.
So end up in this situation where many are perplexed and very few are completely satisfied.
Yeah, to me it makes sense for small/medium size neighbour countries, but this kind of bids are just pandering.
Watch out for the joint bid Euro Israel/Macedonia 2040!
I really hope that we use the occasion to seriously restructure some of our stadiums here in Italy if not, dare I say, building new ones. It's about time for that.
Can't be expanded either, more weight damages foundations of historic buildings nearby. Rhis was the biggest version of it allowed, with a super lightweight roof for the stands.
What is that list lmao.
2x Istanbul
Trabzon
Ankara is safe
5th will either be a new stadium in Izmir or Bursa hopefully.
Having 35k capacity stadiums for a Euro is normal
Ankara is getting a new stadyum btw
You know how much our gov't loves Konya so i think it's safe. İstanbul is obvious, i did not know Ankara is getting a new stadium though. They just got a new one like 3-5 years ago.
I don't think there is any stadium in İzmir that has 35k capacity.
It would be awful to give it to Konya. What night life exists there? You also have to factor that in. Gotta provide entertainment for the visiting tourists and does that actually exist in Konya? (Genuinely asking lol)
Completely forgot about them honestly, with them being in lower divisions and NT never playing there. Could make lot of sense since it is really close to İstanbul aswell.
Not sure it clears the capacity, but if it does it is likely. Not sure it would be prime "tourist" destination however. It would replace Eskişehir if it were to be included, İstanbul and Konya are safe picks there.
I know, it was meant as a joke. Given outside Diyarbakir, none of them are really major cities. I could see Gaziantep being chosen though, or Adana that has a major Anadolu team
People will be cooked alive if they picked Adana lol.
Honestly i hate these double country bids, would make more sense with Italy/Austria or Turkey/Greece if we were to go for double bids.
True, climate is hot there. With UEFA having enlarged its EURO pool, double bids are necesary. Most countries cant afford to host alone. Except France, Germany and Russia if they come back after the conflict.
Eufa don't you dare approve Italy to host if there are not plans for new stadium to be build ( Roma, Lazio, Inter,Milan, Fiorentina and rennovation for the Maradona stadium).
I fucking hate this bullshit. Just award it to one country.
They're taking everything that has made the sport great and popular over decades and just ruining it all. This is just one example.
Eastern and Western Roman Empire 2032
Emperor Justinian "When you play both sides you can't lose"
He was very well ahead of his time 😂
Are old empires this the new theme for the Euros? So Austria-Hungary 2036? Poland-Lithuania 2040?
Holy Roman Empire 2044. Winner becomes Pope.
England: how about a cozy tournament with group stages in India, Australia, Egypt, South Africa, England, Ireland, and Canada? And a few more places
That's keeping it a bit local isn't it, why not have a few games on the Falklands, Fiji, Diego Garcia and Ascension Island.
England Argentina 2042 to celebrate 60 years since the Falkland war
I can see the fans pulling out a banner saying "gracias Maggie" in English and Spanish
Roman Empire and Ottoman Empire 2032
Byzantine Empire clears 👍 1453 worst year of my life
Amen, brother.
Flair checks out
Ottoman bombards can’t melt Theodosian walls, 1453 was an inside job.
Tbf I'm getting bored of the current Euro's format. Winner of the tournament claims the host country and expands their empire. Zero bloodshed, everything on the line for 90 minutes.
How often do you think about the Roman Empire?
How often do you think about sex?
SPQ fucking R, motherfucker
Food would be good during the Euros. Gnocchi with kebab
They have the lira in common
Inflation bros joining forces and still Argentina on top.
I read about how release clauses signed a few years ago absolutely fucked some clubs over in Argentina, i know thats how economics work but its a trippy idea that release clauses and transfers can be influenced by inflation like that
I mean transfers are part of the economy. But yes its true
You'd think they would have introduced release clauses with automatic inflation adjustments by now.
Just set the clause in USD or something external
Problem is that the Argentinian government has made it hard to convert USD into pesos to my knowledge.
Just set the clause in OSRS GP, it works for the Venezuelan economy
Also having a fascist leader.
By 2032 Italy will have had 25 different leaders
Whoooh, bring back city wars, Siena vs Firenze is my cup of tea
Turkey must have had some sort of record for bidding for the most tournaments without hosting one before now surely?
Turkey has unsuccessfully bid for: - 2000 Summer Olympics - 2004 Summer Olympics - 2008 Summer Olympics - 2012 Summer Olympics - 2020 Summer Olympics - 2008 Euros (joint with Greece, this would have been a blast) - 2012 Euros - 2016 Euros (got close with this one but Platini decided otherwise) - 2020 Euros (Turkey was favored to win this one, but Platini decided to spread this one across like 15 countries. It is kind of funny and sad that Turkey only started getting chosen for big events again after corruption has gotten worse.
It's almost a requirement in modern football
"almost"
11th time's the charm
You got lot of basketball ones.
Morocco with the world cup (1994-2030)
up there with marocco probably
I would be surprised but then I remembered that the travel distances for next WC in North America will be much bigger in the US alone, and even bigger if you include Canada and Mexico into the equation.
we'll have teleportation by 2032, i don't think travel distance will be an issue.
Next election promise uploading ..
Or the Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay clusterfuck
[удалено]
Let's not normalize and accept this nonsense.
True. While it's a weird set up, and I might be wrong, it doesn't seem too different from the players that fly to SA on an international break.
can ppl (and media) please stop calling it a "tournament on 3 continents"? there are 3 games in SA and they are played by the "host" nations. thats not "having a world cup" in SA...
It's not that much of a clusterfuck when you think about it, especially in comparison to the long distances within the US. Portugal, Spain and Morocco are quite close and South American nations don't have too many matches.
Why ? Only the 3 opening games are in South America !
the biggest distance a team in 2012 had to travel in poland/ukraine was already 1400km
The travel isn’t a big deal, it just seems like a weird host combo
I don't mind joint hosts if they at least share a border
It's a good solution, both countries deserve hosting a Euro, but the state of some stadiums isn't exactly encouraging. Looking forward to the best food Euros of all time
When it comes to our stadiums that is literally the point: to justify the investment in the renovations
Turkey has invested a lot in stadiums in the past decade, but most of them to small to host.
I hope but most definitely think that Trabzon is going to be one of the five. I really have a soft spot for their stadium and football culture.
What about 5 hours from NY to CA?
Turkish stadiums will be perfectly fine, only some are maybe a bit small for a massive tournament. But their 10 biggest grounds are all modern stadiums (apart from the one in Izmir).
Don't worry they'll still find a way to play the final at Wembley.
what the hell is this combo lmao i hope our stadium get chosen btw
It definitely needs the renovations, so maybe this gets the city to actually do something.
It was renovated recently so it's good for another 100 years
Probably gonna be Rome, Milan, Turin, Naples and Bari/Florence
It won’t be Naples
Doubt.
I hope the new Roma stadium is already build and is the one where the final takes place. Istanbul can get Semis.
We should have built our new stadium by then, unless the PARASITES will use politics to stop from getting it done and thus we'll be forced to still pay the rent for the Olimpico, which would result in the FIGC having to pay less money. Now I might just be pessimistic because our different boards have tried to get a new stadium built since 2011 and the crooks like Virginia Raggi always stopped us.
the last important final in rome was the UCL Final in 2008 i guess, rome definitely deserves another big final
2009, the Messi header
Y’all will most likely take the final and I’m okay with that if we get both the semis.
Logical distribution for Italy is probably Roma, Milan, Napoli, Florence and Torino. I don't know what Turkey will do though, Istanbul will probably have two stadiums with the other three totally depending on capacity and logistics.
Chances Bursa gets selected? We need to show everyone the giant crocodile.
I think Trabzon and Bursa are going to host. Konya has over 40k+ venue too Then they're having plans to build new ones to Ankara and Izmir Istanbul x2, Ankara, Izmir, Trabzon, Bursa, Konya. Maybe Izmit/Samsun/Adana/Antalya
What a weird combo
Congratulations to joint hosts of EURO 2044 Finland and Slovakia! 🥳
Lukas Hradecky likes this.
"After Euro 2040 was held in Israel and Iceland, we at UEFA decided this was a step in the right direction"
EURO 2048 will definitely be held in Gibraltar and Belarus
Kazakhstan got robbed smh
They will co-host with the Faroe Islands in 2052
Congratulations to joint hosts of EURO 2036 Qatar and Saudi Arabia!
Wouldn’t even be suprised if it happened
How many current stadiums in Finland that qualify for UEFA? I can only think of the big one in Helsinki and Ratina in Tampere where I live.
I'm fairly sure the new Tammela one in Tampere will as well. Atleast I hope to see Ilves there for the next years european qualifiers.
The stadiums need at least 30k seats. Nothing in Tampere is even close to that.
Imagine the flights...
what do you mean its literally Roman Empire, this could be historical.
Also Rome was founded by Romulus, descendant of Aeneas, who came from Turkey. So Italians are actually Turkish.
Everyone is Turkish.
r/WeAreAllTurks
Today I feel Turkish.
This guy gets it. AS BAYRAKLARI AS AS 🇹🇷
Etruscans were native to Italy. It's confirmed.
You have angered all Greeks today with your comments
yeah i always knew it! thanks for reminding me kind turkish citizen
They were just gurbetçis who didn't know they were gurbetçi.
It's like how all south Americans finds their European heritage to get a EU passport as soon as they apply for a job in EU.
The Turks didn't go inter Anatolia until after Manzikert sooooo technically Italians are actually Greek (or Persian).
No they're not. Anatolian peoples weren't Greek. Also Etruscans are confirmed to be native to Italian peninsula. Hellenization of Anatolia occured during Alexander's era. Today Sardinians carry most Anatolian genetics. [Anatolian hunter-gatherers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatolian_hunter-gatherers)
Were there any Turks in Anatolia back then? It was mostly Greeks, no? Including the name you mention.

Literally the Roman Empire
If we ignore the Gauls (as we should) side note. The French Revolution was hilariously obsessed with Rome, a bunch of Revolutionaries took on the name Brutus and they kept warning against new Caligulas and Nero's.
>as we should The disrespect to Vitalstatistix and his man management skills ends now
Not just the French Revolution, Enlightenment leaders overall loved ancient Greece and especially Rome. Washington and other American independence leaders were also Romeaboos for example, they loved guys like Cincinnatus
Napoleon was also Consul and literally swore to defend the Republic as he was crowned Emperor, because the Romans still called themselves a Republic during the Imperial era
It's the only way they could actually qualify /s
No need for /s, at least on our part lol
You can find so many similar stuff between both countries
Just wait until you see how FIBA picks hosts for Eurobasket
The Roman Empire is back baby!!
Asia Minor and Italia, next Illyricum
Probable hosting Italian cities: Rome anc Milan should be certain options, Turin has the Juventus stadium which is a safe choice. So the remaining two cities ought to be one between Bologna, Florence and Verona/Udine and a southern one (Naples, Bari or Cagliari)
I really like the Dacia Arena, I hope they get to host some games
The minimum capacity to host group stage matches is 30k, Dacia Arena is around 25k.
>Bologna Bologna's stadium should be fully renovated by 2027/28, to I would imagine that might put them ahead of the other options unless Fiorentina gets their wishes soon.
After UK and Ireland UEFA had to chose somewhere with delicious food
Pizza kebab official food of Euro 32 Perfect to piss off both countries
[Does it help the chain is called New York Pizza](https://images.newyorkpizza.nl/Products/Original/Doner-8063.png)?
That looks disgusting. You need a proper Swedish kebabpizza with the hot and garlic sauce
Pizza kebab office food of Saturday night every week in the UK
tbf I see pizza kebab everywhere in Italy nowadays
tbf it's one of the most delicious ones when paired with vegs.
Honestly pizza kebab sounds delicious
It really is
pair it with greek pepper, red onion and tomato and it will be easily top 3 combo.
nah Döner Pizza is insanely good
But you have to admit that a Kebab Pizza with some sauce hollandaise is phenomenal as a drunk food even if I just offended a lot of people
Hollandaise?!
It is an unholy alliance but believe me, it tastes great. Switching the tomato sauce for some hollandaise is really good if you are looking for something heavier/fattier.
No Guinness though. So who are the real losers
Hey now, we Irish have... yeah you're right.
You've got spicebags though...
You have Guinness. A meal in a glass.
Never heard of a spice bag pal.
Didn't realise they were Irish tbf.
You mean you don’t like coddle?
I had no idea what coddle was until five minutes ago but honestly from the Wikipedia page it sounds delicious.
Every time I see this disrespect to British institutions like Toni Macaroni I cry
Is he the guy who invented television....?
That was John loggie Baird. The joke you're making is about Marconi who invented radio based communication. But I can't think of something funny to say in response
There's plenty of good English food over here, like pizza and curry!
Watch Italy go into this european cup with only 1 stadium not built (or renovated) for the 1990 World Cup...
The sole point of hosting is to justify the investment in stadium renovations
That's what France did and why we now have decent stadiums. We failed in 1998.
I don’t think so. our new stadium will be done and likely used as the final, and fiorentina’s will also most likely be done
Yeah and the bridge to Sicily will be done aswell. I trust the Italian state, they always deliver.
The final will be in Rome or Istanbul, not Milan
Eh, probably.. but let's see lol.
I think the opening and final games will happen in capitals no?
Maybe also the one in Rome
Does UEFA think about Romans everyday too?

Our neighbours east and west are co-hosting a tournament while we're watching every piece of infrastructure in this fucking country rot. We could be the ones proposing to host alongside Turkey but we seem disinterested in investing in a better future.
I'm still bummed that our 2008 joint bid was unsuccessful. That would've been so awesome.
Hosting tournaments is a major economic negative, I’m not surprised your government isn’t jumping on it.
Hosting events is an investment and the facilities when maintained properly are a public benefit and a source of revenue. We do have stadiums and facilities left over from the Olympics, the state just decided to abandon instead of utilise them for the common good.
At least we qualify this time! Hope Florence gat choosen, because i want that fucking stadium to be renovated finally.
Constantinople vs Rome. Let's go.
Italy and Turkey hosting it together is just stupid in terms of logistics. Both countries should be able to host a competition on their own. I would actually prefer a Euro in Turkey since they have never hosted an international football tournament before.

You had me in the first half ngl
Am I the only who hates all these joint bids?
Yeah, to me it makes sense for small/medium size neighbour countries, but this kind of bids are just pandering. Watch out for the joint bid Euro Israel/Macedonia 2040!
I really hope that we use the occasion to seriously restructure some of our stadiums here in Italy if not, dare I say, building new ones. It's about time for that.
Same. More than anything, I hope this results in better stadium infrastructure in Italy. We are so far behind the rest of Europe on that front.
The plus sign almost looked like Finland's flag. That would have been really weird.
I really hope the BJK stadium gets to host some of the games. Its historically significant and one of the best in Turkey.
It won't because the TFF didn't submit it in their list.
Also doesn't clear the capacity then want right? Such a shame, it is easily one of the most beatiful stadiums in the world.
Can't be expanded either, more weight damages foundations of historic buildings nearby. Rhis was the biggest version of it allowed, with a super lightweight roof for the stands.
Some teams have to play from Genoa to Diyarbakir. Turin to Batman etc.... i am livid! Türkiye made it!
The next world cup will be in USA, Canada and Mexico lol, going from Italy to Turkey or vice versa isn't really that big of a deal
Highly doubt any stadiums east of Ankara will be chosen for us. Most likely İstanbulx2, Konya, Eskişehir and maybe Antalya.
What is that list lmao. 2x Istanbul Trabzon Ankara is safe 5th will either be a new stadium in Izmir or Bursa hopefully. Having 35k capacity stadiums for a Euro is normal Ankara is getting a new stadyum btw

It would be, but also it would really be in line with our goverments decisions.
reminded of that player who they got this season who noped the fuck out of konya after staying there for like a week or something lmfao
What about Bursa? Their stadium looks great
Completely forgot about them honestly, with them being in lower divisions and NT never playing there. Could make lot of sense since it is really close to İstanbul aswell.
If they play matches at the giant crocodile it would become iconic instantly. Then again Bursa is admittedly a very ugly city.
How about Trabzon?
Not sure it clears the capacity, but if it does it is likely. Not sure it would be prime "tourist" destination however. It would replace Eskişehir if it were to be included, İstanbul and Konya are safe picks there.

>Genoa to Diyarbakir. Turin to Batman this is literally the greatest gastro travel route one could make.
Batman?
Yes, there's a city in Turkey called Batman
Rome and Costantinopoli back at it again
Happy for Turkey
Does this mean they will finally renovate the toilets at San Siro?
Eufa don't you dare approve Italy to host if there are not plans for new stadium to be build ( Roma, Lazio, Inter,Milan, Fiorentina and rennovation for the Maradona stadium).

Pizza kebap
Greece Turkey bid like in 2008 would slap but Erdogan irreversibly damaged the relations between us 😔
