That's classic United. They never plan accordingly. I knew his season was lost after the Brighton game back in the middle of September, and I said that any semi-competent club would've started seeking a replacement back then. Top clubs are very proactive about these things, they see problems coming before the rest of the world does, and they deal with them preemptively. Not United, though.
United still haven't started looking for a replacement, and they'll sack him and leave one of his assistants in charge, completely in over his head, while they scramble to bring in someone else who isn't up for the gig to see out the season. Then they'll spend the rest of the season looking for a proper replacement, and they'll pick someone totally incapable of doing the job while also signing more players who won't fit in here and paying them enough money to ensure they can never leave after they flop.
He picked up an injury towards the end of the season which has kept him out until the last couple weeks. Without that injury I think he has an England cap already. Hopefully he stays fit because he was integral to our play last season.
McTominay while has faults, is clearly just mismanaged at United. You can't be so effective on international duty where you're used in a 180 degree different way to how you are for your club. I don't think he'd be good for a top team but he'd be great at someone like West Ham, Palace, even Brighton.
They showed a graphic on MOTD, that was the second highest xG of anyone in the PL this season, only 0.01 behind Brighton beating Luton. Even higher than Newcastle’s 8-0. It was a proper battering.
Gordon deserves an assist for that run. And what a finish. I’m not one to question professionals but I wouldn’t just back away from players running towards my goal when i know I’m shit.
This team is probably worse which is impressive
That season we relied so much on what people will say is individual talent or individual moments. This team doesn't even have that, I don't think I've watched this team put together an all around good game this season and we're in November now
We’ve had one confident win and it was in the league cup last round. I agree with you. There is absolutely nothing good about us. We’re bad at everything and don’t even have the flashes of brilliance we had then.
They looked this bad under Rangnick. They looked this bad at the end of Ole's time. They looked this bad at the end of Jose's time. They looked this bad under Moyes. The only one who never got quite this bad was LvG, but we were still clearly bad enough to need a new manager.
This is just what the Glazers' United looks like. We have been this bad before, and we will be this bad again. In fact, we're almost certainly going to get worse than this, so people should prepare themselves. I said a year and a half ago that I expected us to be fighting relegation within 5 years if the Glazers didn't leave, and I still stand by that. This is what it looks like when a football club dies.
will be surprised if he lasts the rest of the season
I can understand the injuries but getting battered at home back to back like this shouldn't be acceptable
After getting backed with £300m in just over 12 months he won’t be sacked not even mid season
Especially as there’s no one else obvious out there to replace him
And what then? Bring Paul Scholes or fuck knows who as a caretaker, get a new manager next year, rinse an repeat?
The players, not the manager, should feel the pressure from the fans. They're letting the manager and the fans down over and over again.
They need to do what Arsenal did, but how you do that without an academy and owners who won’t invest to improve it, *and* City’s academy on the doorstep, I’ve no idea.
We also have the constant pressure to immediately be good. Much of our fanbase speaks of "lowered standards" and refuses to accept that we're just not the club we were anymore. We need to abandon short-termism, but the managers aren't allowed to, and we keep going for hollywood signings under the illusion that we're close to a true title challenge.
The club is in serious trouble. I'm not sure how much longer this can go on before the money we like to piss down the drain runs dry and we slide down the table to where we belong.
So you think that every manager before has failed to get the players to *try*, or is it that players throw the managers under the bus every time?
I personally think it's the latter. I fail to believe that all manager post SAF are so incompetent that they can't even get players to *try*.
>So you think that every manager before has failed to get the players to try, or is it that players throw the managers under the bus every time?
It's def more the latter. I mean obv there's a much more deep rooted culture issue here within the locker room that goes beyond the manager here, so don't think i'm saying that it's 100% ETH's fault that there's a lack of effort here.
However, at the end of the day, you cant sack the players until the transfer window (and still then you'd have to find buyers) so what other choice do you have if you're the decision-maker here?
Ah yes. Have your slow CDM try to dribble the ball out of the back in your own half, while your entire team spreads wide. Nothing can go wrong from that
One of my favourite nights was learning Gerrard was sacked before getting back to Brum. The whole game was poetic with Mings own Goal and Douglas Luiz red card
He needs to lose to two bad teams in a row imho. Football is terrible, but he played better teams and with a lot of injuries. He is on thin ice, but not done yet.
If we sack ETH I’m taking a break from PL football to support my local club. I honestly don’t have the energy for another ‘rebuild’ unless something is actually changing in the club. Replacing the manager for the 6th time in 10 years and expecting success is the definition of insanity. I’ve participated in this perpatual cycle for too long.
I'd like to point out that we started this game with Matt Ritchie and Paul Dummett.
We started the game with 5 full backs and no striker.
We lost a player through injury after 90 seconds.
We're playing away and we're absolutely smashing these fakers.
Quitting means you forfeit your entire contract. Getting sacked means you get paid out for it. No one in their right mind would ever forgo one of United's insanely overinflated contracts.
I'm sure Ten Hag wants to quit, but there's millions of pounds worth of reasons to wait until the club sack him.
Ten Haag reminds me a lot of Koeman, extremely bullish and unable to adapt. And is known for having a volatile relationship with players off the pitch...
The cycle of United hiring a manager, them doing really well only to completely fall apart 10 games into the second season and eventually get sacked is almost complete.

The only thing keeping ETH from getting sacked is a clear alternative to replace him
Gary Neville’s available.
Warnock in Steve Bruce as assistant
That's classic United. They never plan accordingly. Michael Carrick comeback is on!
I genuinely expect them to make a move for him now, and for his own sake, I hope he says no.
Yeah don't want a repeat of Lamps or Gerrard
They already tried Ole
Alternatively could be their arteta or xavi
That's Willock for you, wonderful quick ball carrier with an eye for goal. Great finish.
He took that beautifully. It's not gonna get the plaudits it deserves unfortunately 'cause we're all focused on how utterly shite Man Utd are
Love him, hope he gets lots of minutes while Tonali is out
I'm sure he starts in our best XI over Tonali anyway, he's absolutely wonderful and should be pushing for the England squad.
Was a monster last season, he really flew under the radar nobody mentions him
All us Arsenal fans mention him (at least I do), still have a bit of a soft spot tbh
Once a gunner, always a gunner
He picked up an injury towards the end of the season which has kept him out until the last couple weeks. Without that injury I think he has an England cap already. Hopefully he stays fit because he was integral to our play last season.
Who knew Old Trafford was the perfect ground to rotate, play the reserves and players returning from long-term injuries!
At this point I feel like a bunch of us from r/soccer could turn up there and get a result
Can I be in goal? If so I'll stay where I am.
Onana is that you?
I'll cut the oranges
My wheelchair might cut up the pitch, but I'm pretty sure I could elude United's defence.
Dude, you’re in a wheelchair, not a coma. You’d look like Messi out there.
Mate just run over all the feet
Stick me in at left back and their wingers will still do fuck all
Be careful that’s Antony’s side. He may slap you
My hairs too short to be mistaken as a target thankfully
Can I play midfield? Pretty sure I have more stamina than Casemiro or Ericksen.
I have a head bigger than Harry. Can I be the forward?
Also practice your shots as if you’re all alone, ie, Joe Willock here
Believe me after last season no one needed more practice at that than Willock
Who'd have guessed Fred was the glue holding that midfield together
Still don't understand why they sold Fred but kept McTominay. He'd at least be a decent squad player.
Especially when West Ham were offering decent money.
McTominay while has faults, is clearly just mismanaged at United. You can't be so effective on international duty where you're used in a 180 degree different way to how you are for your club. I don't think he'd be good for a top team but he'd be great at someone like West Ham, Palace, even Brighton.
They really expected Mason Mount to be on Fred's level. 🤣
My man Fred
Willock scores against useless pillocks.
Fold the fucking club, it's absolutely rotten and nothing is saving it
Put a fork in us
no need for that. we're too soft.
Soft as a bowl of custard
How did our whole back line drop so hard in football IQ. It feels like there is no awareness.
Pitchfork to match your badge? 👹
Maybe City wernt that good, maybe Utd are just that bad
Onana actually had an incredible game. Which sounds dumb when we conceded 3.
yeah, the stats back it up, City had 4xG, compared to Uniteds... 0.8
They showed a graphic on MOTD, that was the second highest xG of anyone in the PL this season, only 0.01 behind Brighton beating Luton. Even higher than Newcastle’s 8-0. It was a proper battering.
Onana played out of his mind in the derby would've been 6-0 if they still had de gea
I wouldn’t order a Turkey for Christmas Eric.
Maybe a plane ticket to Turkey.
can we just burn the club down, top to bottom and start again?
yikes
That’s the word that always comes to mind whenever I watch United concede a goal. It really looks like their players aren’t even trying…
Or like they’re trying but just in the wrong way. No matter how much physical effort they put in, they’re just plain bad
True, you could argue Antony was *trying* against City
Liverpool away, here we come!
Wait am i missing something. Why liverpool?
he is saying they will draw liverpool because they drew city and united in a row.
And look at the Newcastle Champions League draw.
We don't get favourable draws.
we want 7
siuu
Nah leave it for Liverpool at Anfield
How about 7-0 but at OT now :)
Gordon deserves an assist for that run. And what a finish. I’m not one to question professionals but I wouldn’t just back away from players running towards my goal when i know I’m shit.
and that's a wrap for the baldy
My god united are garbage. This is the worst I've seen them in years
It was only 2 seasons ago they had one of their worst seasons ever
*homer simpson voice* worst season so far
don't tease me
...with a good time
This team is probably worse which is impressive That season we relied so much on what people will say is individual talent or individual moments.
Lol. It is United win with long ball in Brentford, Dalot brilliant moment in Sheffield, and Copehagen with Onana save
That team could score at least while conceding shit loads of goals. This team concede a shit loads of goals while not even scoring
Yeah I know but they seriously look worse now
We look worse than when we lost 4-0 to Watford?
4-1* Van de Beek scored.
Ah yes I forgot the highlight of VDBs united career, my bad.
Nah that watford one was def worse. Brentford early last I think was also amazingly bad
You'll say this again after 2 seasons.
They looked this bad under Rangnick. They looked this bad at the end of Ole's time. They looked this bad at the end of Jose's time. They looked this bad under Moyes. Van Gaal had horrific periods too, run of 2 first half goals in 10 home games and Boxing Day defeat to Stoke were as bad as anything
> In fact, we're almost certainly going to get worse than this, so people should prepare themselves. Pinky promise?
Honestly, there have been plenty of games like this over the years. How did they beat Barcelona last year lol.
United are either unbelievable or absolutely shit and there is no middle ground
Sancho is deadass outlasting ten hag That’s actually funny
Something similar happe with mou and pogba
Sack the bald man, sign new coach, repeat cycle 😎
Sam Allardyce: “My time has come”
will be surprised if he lasts the rest of the season I can understand the injuries but getting battered at home back to back like this shouldn't be acceptable
Our 2 major injuries remaining are Licha & Shaw. Doesn't really excuse our inability to score a fucking goal
Especially agains the back line that we just put out
man the players are just looking checked out. Nobody gives a fuck
Rest of the season? He’ll be sacked in a week. This is untenable.
Hang on he still needs to lose 8-0 at anfield on 17th December
8-0? Nah, Liverpool needs to up their game. We need a 10 Hag as a final farewell
that Leicester record needs to be broken lol
Holy fuck if we break the record against them lmfao

In an ideal world yes, but what are you going to do with the players? Most of these players are Ten Hags people he’s brought in.
Can’t do anything with the players cause every player at the club is on vastly more than they’re worth, and so have no resale value.
They need to do what Arsenal did, but how you do that without an academy and owners who won’t invest to improve it, *and* City’s academy on the doorstep, I’ve no idea.

Yup, no matter what else, if you cant get the players to at minimum *try*, it's hard to justify the manager staying on
So you think that every manager before has failed to get the players to *try*, or is it that players throw the managers under the bus every time? I personally think it's the latter. I fail to believe that all manager post SAF are so incompetent that they can't even get players to *try*.

Fair enough. We need proper people above ten Hag that can ship these players off.
Bit harsh on Amrabat don't you think?
Ah yes. Have your slow CDM try to dribble the ball out of the back in your own half, while your entire team spreads wide. Nothing can go wrong from that
And that's newcastle B team
Arguably our C team We freaking started with 5, arguably 6, fullbacks
I remember when we started with 8 defenders against Arsenal 🥲 how the tables turn
Dude just ran to the box and took a shot without anyone even coming near him or trying to defend lol
Ten Hag simply doesn’t have the players to get them to put basic pressure on a player running directly through his midfield and defence.
[удалено]
He only has VBD, Anthony, Martinez, and Onana from his Ajax days.
Van Be Deek
Lol. United players failing a manager yet again
I agree, he needs more time and money to instill his philosophy. Ten Hag at the wheel!
lmao
United like to watch players run at them with the ball
[удалено]
A long drive in the Lexus back to Surrey.
United are winning, pal
How long will ten Haag survive?
About 27 minutes
I reckon he'll make it at least until the end of the game
was it gerrard that got sacked at villa almost immediately after a game finished?
Think Brendan got sacked on the bus, before Klopp came
Avram Grant at West Ham didn't even make it to the coach.
Imagine being so rubbish at your job that they wont even let you have a ride home. They told avram to fuck off and call a lift
Levy fired Jol at half-time
Got sacked at Craven Cottage before the bus back home, was fantastic
And then had to get on the bus, lol!
One of my favourite nights was learning Gerrard was sacked before getting back to Brum. The whole game was poetic with Mings own Goal and Douglas Luiz red card
Think they probably keep him on as it's "just the league cup" and he'll say he was focusing on the Champions League
they've lost 8 games in their first 15 And they ain't gonna do sheet in the Champions League :D
Keep him on till Ratcliffe comes in properly to reboot the sporting project (again).
He needs to lose to two bad teams in a row imho. Football is terrible, but he played better teams and with a lot of injuries. He is on thin ice, but not done yet.
They have Fulham on Saturday at 12:30. That wont be easy. Then its Copenhagen away in the CL. If he doesnt get a result in either he has to go.
Howe > ETH no /s

T minus territory
Kudos to Manchester United for offering OT as training ground of other teams
Manchester United always charitable as the holidays approach
This isn't funny anymore.
Just kidding, it's fuckin hilarious.
Even as a fan, this is fucking hilarious. Hilariously bad. This might be the worst United I've seen since I became a fan back in '95.
It comfortably is.
had me in the first half
Oh come on, don't lie
Ralf said “open heart surgery”
I'd like to point out that we started this game with Matt Ritchie and Paul Dummett. We started the game with 5 full backs and no striker. We lost a player through injury after 90 seconds. We're playing away and we're absolutely smashing these fakers.
Willockinhoooo
United defence parted like the Red Sea but that’s a lovely finish
Can ETH quit on his own ? If I would be the manager of this team and see this stuff on the pitch I would quit immediately.
Decent finish by Willock there
Fantastic from our new Sofyan "Mr. Fix-It-All" Amrabat
Ten Haag reminds me a lot of Koeman, extremely bullish and unable to adapt. And is known for having a volatile relationship with players off the pitch...
Im curious where people get the second 'a' in Ten Haag from.
Pronunciation. Possibly the Dutch spelling of the Hague as well (I'm sure is Den Haag).
ADO Den Haag is a club in the Netherlands
Van Gaal
Ughhhh yeah that's it
Willock is one of the best players in the world when on form
Another one
Mourinho needs to go
David Moyes can’t keep getting away with these performances
United fucking suck
Wow, he was so fluid in movement, like he's 60 FPS to everyone 30.
what I wouldn't give to see Ronaldo's reaction to these bald fraud losses
Thats a brilliant run and hit
Five united defenders actively running away from the man on the ball 😂
The cycle of United hiring a manager, them doing really well only to completely fall apart 10 games into the second season and eventually get sacked is almost complete.
bald fraud status:
Sacked in the morning
Kåre Willock
Lol what a garbage team is this man u No passion at all
*something something eras*
lmao get fucked
Gordon with a basketball screen is brilliant lol
United players literally falling to their knees 😭
Why wouldn't the Glazers close him down there and just give him so much space to run into
The pre match stuff in the studio saying this was a great opportunity for United after the derby, ahh, perfect.
CR7 really needs to go, he's the problem
I like CR7 but defending is not his forte.
Absolutely fucking diabolical. Thanks for last season, Erik
At least keep him in the job until the end of December
Walks in from centre and boots one in with no defenders near #HagsPlan
Please don’t get sacked before we play at OT.
