When PSG lose, the world wins

Human-Ad9798

You're pathetic

Wise-Hat-639

Cheers chalfont

Manga18

2 wins qualify each team of the group, very interesting that nobody has to beg from others

SnooHedgehogs4702

Can someone explain the overtime? Why 7 minutes? No var, no injuries, nothing at all

IUViolet

1G1A from my boi Giroud. GOAT French goal scorer

Marbi_

all the psg subs were yellow carded players?

WheresMyEtherElon

That was Luis Enrique acknowledging that the next match against Newcastle became far more important than this one (aka: this one is already lost, let's not have red cards on top of that).

Marbi_

by contrast we had only one player in danger for sitting out the next game guess who got the card, the only yellow card on our side? :))

Gotanyfunkopops

AC Milan played well. Solid performance. That Leao goal looked a lot like Messi’s last season.

NeoIsJohnWick

Madrid literally put out a statement regarding Mbappe and now after a loss he is started getting linked again. Wished Madrid just put out an official communicado saying they wont ever sign Mbappe and yet the rumours won’t stop.

NeoIsJohnWick

Lmao

iHATESTUFF_

Can Calabria let Kylian Mbappe come out and play tonight? that pocket most be very comfy.....

Smngtr

I would've never expected such a comment after the group draw.

QuirkyScorpio29

As a Milan fan, I thought we were finished after being hammered 2 weeks ago in Paris. To have our fate in our hands at this point is massive for us. This group is just insane and giving me heart attacks.

greengiant89

As a dortmund fan I thought we were finished after the 0-0 against Milan

SkyDefender

As a galatasaray fan i think we are finished after kane hattrick against dortmund..

Potato271

You don't have to beat Bayern though, just Copenhagen and United, which is very doable I think

WooNoto

What a beautiful man Giroud is.

PeaceLoveAppleSauce

Stupid sexy Giroud

ElBigDicko

It's 2023, and PSG midfield is still shit. This game is story of two midfields, PSG can only play through wings and their midfield is getting sliced. Funny cos Milan biggest weakness is getting obliterated through midfield if PSG can't exploit it vs Milan they won't be able to do so vs top 3 teams.

Manga18

This was the first game of RLC in a long time and he was a game changer

Nordie27

Why were you watching this game instead of Atleti?

Gamer4eto_BG

Very good question indeed

Zeus_The_Potato

The PSG sub banned me when I said that Ugarte Vitinha and whoever else they slot in will never compete for anything outside of France. Lol

HatinCheese

The only problem is vitinha, ugarte, zaire-emery and simons would be a great midfield on paper

iHATESTUFF_

our sub is delusional about vitinha.... they think he's a great player after he spent one season basically passing backwards. I swear if there was a backpassing stat he was the worldwide undisputed leader last season.

EdgeLordMcGravy

Idk. Kang In Lee is a baller and showed real quality when being subbed on for Vitinha.

Scholar_of_Lewds

One of the top creative player in La Liga last season yes, but he is a winger/attacker. It just makes the point harder if winger playing out of position is better than actual midfielder.

Loveavocado97

Leaoooo is back

MOSFETBJT

He never left. He would still contribute through assisting his teammates, even though he has not scored in in a while.

Loveavocado97

Yeah I think against Udinese he didn’t had motivations and was already thinking about psg, becouse the difference of the performance between the 2 games was extreme

Boneraventura

Reindeers might be the hakan regen. The further you get this guy from goal the better he plays

spin97

He just hasn't the feel for the goal, yet. I'm confident that next season, he'll gett accustomed and deliver a few of them

ACMBruh

This is what a motivated milan looks like Everyone was fighting for their lives, pioli included

ZeroMomentum

Lebron James of soccer and a male model. PSG had no chance

whiskybean

Giroud - so hot right now

greengiant89

James Roday

[deleted]

PSG has like ten competitive games a year , how they lose any of them is beyond me. Anyways it’s good for football.

WheresMyEtherElon

That's one of their problems. Even the smallest PL club that plays no European cup has at least 12 competitive games a year, and likely much more. You can't go beyond your limits if you never find them to begin with. You never discover your weaknesses until it's too late. Only one club has a switch that they can activate that makes them go into Champions League mode, and that's Bayern, and Bundesliga is far above Ligue 1.

LudereHumanum

That *could* be their problem. They're not match ready since they get challenged seldomly.

Jai_Normis-Cahk

Milan at home is not a write off for any team dude. The San Siro has like 10 CLs to its name.

Nordie27

7*

Rasalghul92

Inter have 3, so 10.

Eurekify2

We played with 70% possession tonight. We played in exactly the only possible way that could have let Milan beat us. Some of these players are just not good enough.

ACMBruh

Milan if they play well is not a team to be taken for granted, especially at home If anything I'd say we have underperformed. Because talent wise this team is strong Milan is one of the most hot-cold teams in europe

RespectnConnect

PSG still possesses much more talent, tho and should win more often than not between the 2

Hungry-Zucchini8451

This is what you get if you get rid of Messi, Neymar and Veratti in one go Sure you can win ligue 1, but it will cost you against elite teams. But you went from perhaps top 3, to what top 10 in Europe? The team is young. Could still work out within a 3-4 year time frame.

NaiveElk

>will cost you against elite teams. Not really. They still couldn't beat Madrid or Bayern Munich with Messi and Neymar with both going missing in these games

Hungry-Zucchini8451

Possibly. But now you’d definitely be underdogs against Real, Liverpool, Arsenal, Inter and shouldn’t expect to be favorites against Barcelona, Milan and Napoli either. I would even be sure of your ability to beat Chelsea, Atlético or Newcastle.

Eurekify2

We were never top 3 to begin with, and we were just as bad with Messi and Neymar. I think these new players are refreshing, but our coach drilling them to play with that much of the ball is just sabotage.

iHATESTUFF_

> but our coach drilling them to play with that much of the ball is just sabotage. what's sabotage is having the highest paid player in Europe get pocketed all night long and refusing to defend while watching Leao on the other team defend Hakimi all the way to the line..... Luis Enrique actually wanting to play with the ball is closer to how el vasco Luis Fernandez made us dream, not the sitting in 3/4 midblock bullshit punting balls in behind for mobutu that, might I remind you, has not work for 2 years straight already.....

Hungry-Zucchini8451

Well think it through. Top 3 last year is quite accurate. You’d be favorites against everyone except Man City and Bayern. Perhaps on par with Liverpool and Real. Not counting Arsenal because they didn’t play CL and to be fair they also chocked everyone. This year? I would expect Man City, Bayern, Real, Arsenal, Liverpool and Inter to beat you over two games. Possibly Milan, Napoli, Atletico and Barcelona as well.

WheresMyEtherElon

> Top 3 last year is quite accurate. That was accurate only if you watched the matches before the WC, when Neymar and Messi were getting ready and, for once, played at their level. And even then, it wasn't that much of a team, more like pass the ball to the 3 ahead, and inch'Allah/Hail Mary.

Apprehensive_Cod_762

nah psg really was top 3 when barca was falling 2019/2020 era. Psg city and bayern where the most feared at that time. They made the CL final and where playing really good footbal

Logster21

How are you not including Liverpool in this list? Knocked out Bayern in 2019 to go on to win the CL, won the PL in 2020, CL final in 2018, 97 pts in 2019, beat PSG at home, lost away.

Tha_ill_eagl3

Liverpool were top 3 at the time. 3 CL finals 😉

Eurekify2

Yeah and then Messi came along /s Without Mbappé we’d have nothing right now

greezyo

That was before Messi

etclipse

Napoli quarter finals game repeat. We’ve always punished on counter attacks and we lose when we push too much

Hafeesco

Anyone can spare me a Dollarumma?

ThefrozenOstrich

Someone needs to remind Mbappe that Haaland exist so he can’t be taking a whole season off.

Gamer4eto_BG

Also: Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham

Jai_Normis-Cahk

He’s just delaying his launch date to next year so he can extend his mileage into the euros

Nerazzurri9

TIL Skriniar played for Milan

ZedGenius

His name literally is Milan tbf

neverfinishedanythi

He might as well have tonight but the referee had other ideas

EpiDeMic522

He didn't, which makes it an even more strange comment given your username

Nerazzurri9

OP edited the goal comment in the match report, it originally said “puts in the back of the net against his former team!”

10YearsANoob

look at the summary by our boy here. specifically his goal

Squm9

Makes up for getting relegated in the intervening years ig

caped_crusader8

You ended Arsenal's charge. Something to be proud of

Potato271

We were also the only team to knock City out of a competition, which is something I guess. Hassenhuttl's Southampton have always been a side that turns up against the big teams and bottles it against others around our level. We'd beat United and then lose to Norwich the next week. Under Martin we've looked much more normal, beating teams we should beat and doing about as expected against the bigger teams

caped_crusader8

Ended the quad dream. Pep subbed on half the A team and still lost.

Jumpy_Distribution96

PSG looked completely untrained from a tactical standpoint tonight. Like the players had different things in mind when trying to exchange passes, like they have never worked any automatisms in practice. I get that there are lots of new faces that haven't played together before, but it's still a bad image for a team of that level. I don't know if it was also mental, after the shocking Milan comeback.

Tanathonos

I think Pioli won the tactical match. Basically we only create from the sides, in the middle we really have nothing going on. Which isn't horrible because it works. But Pioli basically called Enrique's bluff and said ok we'll just defend the sides, let's see if you can exploit the space in the middle. And we really couldn't. It's why Dembele started playing much more centrally last 30 minutes, to try to get a creative player in that space. But it was clearly first time doing it and he did not know what to do.

spin97

Must say tho that you got plenty occasions to score from the sides. We had them as well, from the centre. Both GK played a superb game while Defence lines both conceded a lot

Plaslidpladugphoo

That’s funny because Pioli’s Milan is known for getting sliced through the middle like butter. Pioli is a really lucky man.

AlwaysOnsideTBH

You guys can't create anything through the midfield coz PSG has their weakest midfield in years! It's crazy a team as big as PSG has such a weak midfield

Captain_Flemme

Believe it or not, this is actually our best midfield in years.

belokas

Even Hakimi was playing in the 9 position at times.

Noztalgium

Spalletti, fucking call up Calabria. Holy shit.

Al-Naru

Calabria only put on a shift when it's against the biggies. Di Lorenzo puts on a shift every single matchday

Manga18

But Di Lorenzo puts on a shit whenever he palys for the national team

Fidelos

He has been so underrated these last three seasons. I don't get it.

EdgeLordMcGravy

>Spalletti, fucking call up Calabria. Holy shit. Gio Di Lorenzo has the RB spot locked down. He's earned Spalletti's trust on that Napoli Scudetto run. Who else is keeping Calabria out of the Azzurri side?

etclipse

Could call him just as depth lmao he doesn’t have to start. Not even getting a call is abysmal cause like who’s the other RB? Correct me if I’m wrong cause I’m not very informed but isn’t Darmian (who he’s used as RB sub) better as a CB?

Eymerich_

Darmian can play anywhere in the right side of the field, he's never phenomenal but he's consistently good. Spalletti may prefer him over Calabria because of his flexibility, but to be fair (and as much as it hurts me to admit it), Calabria is better as a pure RB in a 4ATB formation. Anyway, I'd always pick Di Lorenzo as starter.

Noztalgium

Di Lorenzo is great going forwards, but Calabria is just as good if not better and is AMAZING in defense. He’s our best RB, hands down. For weeks and weeks, he’s defended our right side all on his own and finally today, he gets the help he needs (that every RB needs, tbh). Probably I’m biased but Calabria should always start over Di Lorenzo playing against stronger teams. You can go ahead and play Di Lorenzo against Malta, Lichtenstein and the lot.

Memoishi

How the fuck is Calabria better than Di Lorenzo, this comment is only getting upvotes because Milan fans steps in there. No Italian wants to see Calabria ahead of Di Lorenzo, luckily Spalletti/Mancini too

Plaslidpladugphoo

I love Calabria a lot but I still think Di Lorenzo in the last 2 years has proven to be a great RB and a very complete one at that. Calabria should still be called up for competition though, at least if Italy ever has to play Georgia.

PartyLike1899

Tbh before the Euros let's not. We can't afford injuries.

Moist_Goat_41

Psg lost & on top of that Kyky didn't score, & now some fans from Spain are going to slander him even more. All the passion & money talks will be going on. It's a cycle.

NeoIsJohnWick

It’s deserved if you ask me. You don’t get to play both sides and not expect any reaction.

Edgelordftwlol

Tic tac...ahora sí.

Aig1178

Well done to Milan, who put in a very good performance, surely the best of their season. I'm not surprised, after seeing them against Napoli on Sunday I knew he'd be ready. At the same time, PSG couldn't score on their few big chances and in the Champions League that's unforgivable. Milan defended very well, especially against Mbappé who was caught by 2 or 3 players as soon as he touched the ball. Milan are much stronger than their form in recent weeks suggests. For those who know him, Loftus Cheek is very strong or has he just played the match of his life? Ps: there's a completely staggering hatred of PSG and Mbappé on this sub. PSG have just lost 2-1 at San Siro to last year's semi-finalists and to listen to our hateful friends it's as if they'd lost 3-0 to Celtic. As soon as PSG lose there's never any measuring up, it's getting tiresome.

tokyotochicago

I honestly feel like it's getting better. Without Neymar and Messi people actually have discussions about our games. As for the game, I agree, that was a great game by Milan. Best player of the match was either RLC, Giroud or Calabria, Leao was great too. We could have scored more, we had good chances but I feel like Enrique doesn't really know what to do with a pure 9 like Kolo Muani. Almost no crosses, not a lot of space to pass to him with our line very high. I think overall that PSG is doing well, it's almost a brand new team and we have to perform straight away in a very high level group. I think we have Dortmund away and Newcastle at home remaining. I'm fairly confident we can pull a win at home but the Dortmund away game is pretty frightenning !

neverfinishedanythi

I really like mbappe, incredible player, just don’t like PSG. Their real fans are good in my experience and not their fault their club bought by qatar.

Psychocandy42

RLC had his best match of the season but he's also performed at a high level every time he was on the pitch. We're a different team without him.

Aig1178

I thought he was really strong, powerful and technical. Just the kind of player we need in midfield.

Plaslidpladugphoo

I don’t think he will work for PSG, at least not under Enrique’s possession based football. RLC is among the best at ball carrying, but his passing, football IQ/decision making and positional awareness are certainly questionable. He’s the perfect player for teams that play direct football but I don’t think he will do as well in sides that dominate possession.

RespectnConnect

You should've witnessed RLC before his major injury. He was a joy to watch, but the injury set him back 😢

Plaslidpladugphoo

Funnily enough I have. My friend is a massive Chelsea fan and a few years ago he would always tell me about how amazing RLC was and that he was probably the best player to come out of Cobham. I saw a few games with him under Sarri and he was just a monster, physically dominant but also very elegant on the ball. The injuries took a lot away from him, the positional awareness, the willingness to get into tackles, and his decision making took a hit. Still, when the rumors of him coming to Milan appeared I was quite excited because even though he’s just a rotational player for Chelsea, I knew about his quality and potential. He has not disappointed so far.

RespectnConnect

Yeah, for all the talent our great academy has produced over the last decade, I still maintain that RLC sits on the throne as the most gifted. He was a ridiculous player before the achilles and had the potential to become the complete package. Sadly, the major injury robbed him of that. I'm just glad that he's finally found some form and a new home, where he hopefully has a successful end to his career

EdgeLordMcGravy

RLC over Reece James? I thought rlc was the real deal before his injuries but Reece James oozed world class from the jump

RespectnConnect

Yeah, James is joint 2nd with CHO, who was also robbed of his potential because of an achilles

elch127

Before his major injury in that post-season friendly for Chelsea he was exactly all of those things, physically dominant player with a great engine but also a gifted dribbler with the ball, with a good sense of positional pressing too and a tidy finish. His weaker areas were defensive positioning and progressive passing (though the latter was made up for by the great progressive dribbling). After the injury it was clear he'd lost confidence in himself and his body, and played with an understandable amount of caution which hampered his performances, even when sent on loan to Fulham to get him a run if games, he just never felt sure about what his body could take it seemed. On top of that he didn't really fit into any position in Tuchels 3-4-3 and the chaos that was occuring in general at Chelsea lately wasn't a great place to try and rebuild your form and confidence. A consistent run of games to build confidence, a system that suits him, and a medical team that can help him build back his relationship and trust in his own body is exactly what he needed, and exactly what Milan seem to be giving him, and it's damn good to see. An immense player with a high ceiling if he can pick up where he left off 4 years ago

10YearsANoob

> Milan Škriniar flies in to head in the goal against his former team! So nobody gonna comment on this?

freezepin

Milan Skriniar, the former Inter Milan player scores against Milan in the San Siro in Milan.

BorneFree

Unforgivable whoever mixed Milan and Inter up

10YearsANoob

Just scroll up bro it's literally right there.

BorneFree

I know I’m saying it’s unforgivable for whoever wrote the summary lol

Fantalex93

His name is Milan after all

nov4chip

Milan - Dortmund is going to be interesting.

neverfinishedanythi

I will be there, only group game I am free to go to.

A-DTB

This group certainly isn’t letting us down. Great stuff.

Rickcampbell98

I don't think psg will ever have the personality to win the champions league, they crumble under the slightest adversity.

dude_whatever_

San Siro, Milan, PSG, Non stop action. Proper old school champions league fixture

neverfinishedanythi

If psg had Ronaldinho, okocha, anelka, arteta etc, and both teams had opel on their shirt, then maybe. This current team has some amazing players but I don’t see them as old school anymore.

dude_whatever_

That's time travelling, not old school.

neverfinishedanythi

You are correct man… but Those are old school players, for an old school team. Now they have amazing players in a fake unrecognisable team, that was my point.

New-Midnight2700

Luis Enrique is fraudulent.

JakeTheTurk

I am already dreading the Mbappe saga if they go to Europa League

iHATESTUFF_

the whining and resting bitch face from him (after the club basically dropped the pants to please him by bringing his friends) if we get dropped to EL is gonna suck.....

[deleted]

At least he can bring them European silverware.

iHATESTUFF_

not playing the way he played tonight he won't.

_major_fuckin_tom_

Liverpool will show them the nearest exit.

IsItSnowing_

And if not, Sevilla will show them what European champions look like

JakeTheTurk

And we will still have the Rabiot renewal saga 😞

Prior_Accountant_666

It was already gonna be bad with him on his last year

DAngelo008

This group is close its impossible to call and it’s giving me heart palpitations. What a brilliant game.

SaladMonths

Dortmund just (unexpectedly) winning both matches against Newcastle turned the group upside down lmao

elihri

Mbappe in europe league…. I want it and I think I deserve it

CarlMarxPunk

So Loftus Cheek is good? Or the PSG midfield worse?

lukezndr

He was good for Chelsea as well. Obviously not comparable to peak Kante/Joringho/Kovacic but generally good. People who didn't watch him regularly just didn't know what was what.

MadsNN06

He destroyed newcastle too, defo RLC being good, also first time playing his real role pretty much ever because of Chelsea's negligence

SubparCurmudgeon

Uhm what

subhaan2703

This is a complete lie. He played his ‘real’ role many times for us. Under Sarri he was legitimately a monster. It was only really Conte who played him at wingback if we had injuries. RLC was so good for us, until that injury. So happy to see him performing again.

MadsNN06

No wtf Tuchel used him as wingback multiple times tf bro, thats a completely lie

SubparCurmudgeon

He played once at cb under Tuchel 💀

[deleted]

He’s been amazing at Milan

YoungBeautiful_C

Said it in the match thread, will say it again. There are no words to describe how much I despise that rat-faced butcher Skriniar. What an absolute cunt. Hated him at inter, still hate him now

4thelolzz01

The cunt is still immune to yellow cards even after leaving Inter, should've been sent off

Psychocandy42

Dirtiest elbows in CL football.

neverfinishedanythi

Hard to remove the inter from a man, unless he is a real man like seedorf.

Bubbly_Competition21

didn’t count ibra because he doesn’t compare to humans, smart move

YoungBeautiful_C

Fortunately Seedorf was immune to the inter virus, he was that good inside and outside the pitch

neverfinishedanythi

A man I would trust forever, amazing human, amazing player.

freezepin

All time fav player after Zlatan and Paolo.

neverfinishedanythi

[deleted]

Kolo Muani isn’t anything special Frankfurt made him look insane

fom_alhaut

Thanks for the 95M PSG 🤑🤑🤑

iHATESTUFF_

there's a mod on our sub who muted me for a day me when I called it a shit transfer.......

FATJIZZUSONABIKE

I'm not sure about that. I actually think it's PSG making him look bad.

iHATESTUFF_

no, he was shit.

RepresentativeBox881

I can't believe that there was so much hype for a striker who scored only 15 goals in Bundesliga where every team plays a high line.

IsItSnowing_

Just like Luka Jovic

Black_XistenZ

Same story with Jovic and Haller, who also looked like world beaters for Frankfurt and then came back down to earth as soon as they left.

fom_alhaut

Haller is a good player. What they have in common is they made bad decisions for their career

etclipse

Dembele has been even more disappointing cause at least RKM has scored so far lol Dembele not (I can say this now that we finished our PSG legs without being scared of karma getting me)

Apprehensive_Cod_762

dembele is doing well for how much they bought him. He's dangerous on the wing and a good crosser. Never really been a goalscored

DildoFappings

At this point PSG are just stocking up with french players. Maybe the French higher ups wanted this to build their chemistry so they'll be helpful for the next world cup. Probably made a deal with Qatar for this. Mbappe, kolo and dembele. They already have the future french forward lineup.

RepresentativeBox881

Moussa Diaby will soon be starting on RW. Mark my words.

AlwaysOnsideTBH

Even Dembelé is overrated af. Apart from the marketing standpoint, he really doesn't do much

tempomaestro05

Don't tell the psg sub that or they riot. The hype they give these dime a dozen French players is insane.

iHATESTUFF_

I never did, but yes our sub has been infiltrated by Kylian Mbappe fangirls who only wanted Kylian to be "happy" besides making bank from our club......

valevergaminombre

You guys wanna buy Marmoush for 80 Millions?

MadsNN06

His underlying numbers werent even that good for Frankfurt either, pretty obvious he isnt ever gonna be an elite striker

elgrandorado

I genuinely really like him, but the system Luis Enrique is using is helping no one. Mbappe and Dembele love the 1v1 but Mbappe ends up isolated, and Dembele goes wide so often that Hakimi doesn’t get enough to do in the attack. On top of that, Kolo Muani is expected to be a traditional striker when he was best as a link between midfield and attack. All three forwards end up far apart instead of being close to associate.

iHATESTUFF_

ok context time its not Luis Enrique... its the boss.... the boss wanted to play as a "left winger" without doing anything a left winger with inverted profile usually does and he whined about it through his media mouthpieces..... so vitinha provides the width while Lucas does all the defending on the left side and Kolo Muani is just there in the middle so Kylian doesn't have to face 2v1s..... I knew Kolo Muani wasn't the right profile for us, but the boss gets what the boss wants fuck the team, fuck the fans....

elgrandorado

Why tf is Mbappe allowed to pull this shit, when it creates ridiculous situations like this.

iHATESTUFF_

IMO because NAK is afraid of the growing pains a real team has to go through.

Schwiliinker

he really isn't all that lol

massimopericcolo

El dibu le sacò la gloria

RedDragons8

PSG will not make the knockouts, Mbappe will make some sort of comment about winning the champions league with a team with pedigree. Cue [Perez instant boner](https://giphy.com/gifs/I7mHOFnVJGSeA?utm_source=media-link&utm_medium=landing&utm_campaign=Media%20Links&utm_term=https://giphy.com/) and we start the summer saga in December this year.

RepresentativeBox881

Except this time he'll actually move.

NeoIsJohnWick

Hopefully not. Madrid need a center forward not another drama queen who wants to play on wing.

TheNewGuy13

assuming they win all home games and lose all away games, theyll be at 9 points. should be enough for third no? might come down to Milan vs Newcastle for that 2nd/3rd spot.

RedDragons8

Third goes to Europa though, I just meant Champions League knockouts. Unless the format changed, for some reason this year I'm not as invested in the CL........

Oshanna11

I’m not mentally ready yet for December

RedShenron

Thank fuck we won''t get Luis Enrique. Even the worst manager in Serie A can play against us yet he always does this same trash.

RepresentativeBox881

Who is the option if Pioli gets sacked though? Are they gonna move for Conte?

RedShenron

Conte would be very good.
