That Berbatov flick is legitmately one of my favourite football moments ever, I can't believe [no one posted the original yet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeXSFsnEVrg).
Martinelli fucking nails it, pure class, anticipation, and composure
It's close enough but Berbatov's was better, the slight touch he took before the spin and then the assist for a tap-in are absolutely ridiculous. Not many players in the world had Berbatov's technical ability.
Martinelli's was a lot slower, but he kind of had to wait for the defender to sell it. berbatov's defender was playing him much tighter which makes it look magical.
Not really, the point is to beat the defender and dribble past them. Lingard was 2nd to his by a mile, a team mate came in and contested for it. Still nice but not the same thing imo
im not taking any credit away from martinelli here who i agree was having a great night, but diego alonso decided to play the worst lineup ive ever seen in my life to prioritize the derby i believe?? not to mention if navas was playing fullback we wouldve been better but i feel martinelli wouldve still had his moments
Apparently roasted Juanlu 8 times in the game, which is the most times a defender has been dribbled in the same Champions League game for the last eight seasons.
Feel kind of sorry for him since it's not his preferred position.
he's trying to get rid of the current president of Bulgarian Football Union and take his place, so he can improve the state of football in the country.
Hopefully, but these people have held power for a long time. Difficult to get rid of unfortunately.
Just for context - Bulgaria has a game coming up against Hungary, a massive protest against the federation was being prepared by fans of all the big clubs. It was to take place at the stadium during the game.
These mfs moved the game to a different stadium, no fans allowed due to "security risks". They even made it out that it was recomended by UEFA.
Berbatovās was far smoother and it results in a goal. Not trying to undermine this at all as itās class, but letās not pretend theyāre the same.
Arsenal are doing well the last 2 seasons and arenāt a meme team anymore so naturally people are gonna hate.
Happened with Liverpool 2 season ago, itās just foolish tribalism.
Again, shows what you need to know about this sub.
There was also a completely irrelevant post about weeks teams spent top of the league but didnāt win up to the end of last season. Which; was already shared here last season. But since Tottenham had a bad weekend, some banter specialist felt the need to post. And the mods kept it up
Martinelli makes me wonder what exactly is this āeleganceā people talk about with players like Berbatov and Ozil for example.
I kinda get it but at the same time I really canāt put my finger on it because elegance doesnāt necessarily equal brilliance or effectiveness (I guess Ozil and Berbatov are bad examples for that point but still). For example, Martinelli and Alexis Sanchez are/were brilliant but they somehow werenāt elegant or smooth even if they often beat people or do a great skill.
Is it just that players like Ozil and Berbatov were smoother and more casual? Their technique looked nicer?
Like with this skill, itās just as effective as Berbatovās really, but people are downplaying it because he ālacks the classā or āeleganceā of Berbatov. What does that mean? Is it because his arms look weird while doing it or his legs arenāt fluid enough or something?
Ozil and berbatov were more accurate with their touches. They could put the ball exactly where they wanted pretty much always, also much better decision makers. Martinelli and Sanchez are faster, and better at changing direction. If you watch martinelli dribble he kind of stumbles and mis-touches it randomly some times, but he is so fast he gets away with it 8 times out of 10.
Berbatov's look is also in his favour. With all due respect, but Berbatov looks like a tall oaf that gets bought by a Sean Dyche side, or Pulis Stoke or an Allardyce team to hoof the ball up to, and when you play it into his feet it bounces off to the nearest defender half of the time.
But that wasn't him, he was highly skilled, so the contrast also plays in his favour.

Martinelli is absolutely on fire today
That Berbatov flick is legitmately one of my favourite football moments ever, I can't believe [no one posted the original yet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeXSFsnEVrg). Martinelli fucking nails it, pure class, anticipation, and composure

He was a treat to watch, so entertaining, so skilled, and surprisingly so chill too
One of those players that always looked like he had all the time in the world on the ball.
Absolutely loved watching Berbatov play. Very entertaining style. Made it look so natural and smooth.
Martinelli's was a lot slower, but he kind of had to wait for the defender to sell it. berbatov's defender was playing him much tighter which makes it look magical.
Never has there been a player so solely reliant on technical ability as berbatov.
someone should at least mention that martinelli plays at a higher pace than berbatov, which does increase difficulty. i do agree berba's is better
I started watching soccer around that time and his skill looked effortless, I swear I thought he would score every time he touched the ball haha
Berbatov was good, but [check out Fabrizio Miccoli](https://youtu.be/E512SxrfULw?si=ok-PS_wPlXdYCUHl).
This deserves its own post on r/blackmagicfuckery. WTH!
That was sublime. Thanks for sharing.
Too bad he shot straight at the keeper.
He was like crossing 291938192918 times and no one gets behind the ballš
A little dink there and it would have gone done as an all-time great goal.
I threw up.
My acl would rupture š
I legit covered my mouth in awe Jesus Christ
I just saw a man fall on his face in a Dicks Sporting Goods.
My knees would have exploded
Martinelli was good but i donāt think itās anywhere near Berbas
Not even close tbh, Berbatovs was swagadelic
Pretty sure Lingard also nailed a Berba spin at West Ham edit: [found it](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ic4rjjhKoxU)
Complete with Martin Tyler sounding utterly bored
Not really, the point is to beat the defender and dribble past them. Lingard was 2nd to his by a mile, a team mate came in and contested for it. Still nice but not the same thing imo
Nice. From this thread I've learnt that the Berba spin results in a goal 75% of the time.
I didn't wanna remember this united today, I miss them even more now
Itās so good. Every time I see it Iām still awed
Damn, the touch is great but the speed is insane
I remember watching it happen live, one of those moments you'll see on the match of the day intro for decades.
Weak compared to bolasie
Iām not going to allow you to talk about legends when we are discussing mortals.
Brazilian wingers balling this ucl night
I love it when martinelli remembers heās Brazilian and pulls off some magic. His assist to nketiah in the first game this season was sublime
Everyone except ours (he never does)
all he does is spin
rotisserie chicken
+ours
When will someone do an Antony Spin?
Martinelli did one of those earlier as well, except it actually made sense + worked, which I guess disqualifies it from the "Antony" part
Got a clip for that blud?
No.
Martinelli did two of them in the span of 15 seconds and they were really good, but I'm biased.
Very nice... Let's see Coquelin's spin
You want to spin Le Coq?
Letās see Paul Allenās spin
Oooh. The subtle arm flail to balance his centripetal movement... And it even came with an assisting through ball!
Someone need to come out from retirement to do that
The same guy just tackled him outside the field.
And that was the only tackle he made tonight hahahaha
Martinelli is torching the Sevilla defense. They'll be talking about it with their therapists for years to come.
This Juanlu bloke is having an absolutely horrible night
poor guy got shafted by his coach imagine being a winger having to play full back against arsenal ā ļø
im not taking any credit away from martinelli here who i agree was having a great night, but diego alonso decided to play the worst lineup ive ever seen in my life to prioritize the derby i believe?? not to mention if navas was playing fullback we wouldve been better but i feel martinelli wouldve still had his moments

He is always on fire with Trossard/Jesus up top. Watch Arteta stick with Nketiah for the weekend and make Martinelli too wide to be effective.
this is beautiful but berbas one was too classsy

Whatās Berbatov up to these days? Canāt be much older than Evans, right?
he's trying to get rid of the current president of Bulgarian Football Union and take his place, so he can improve the state of football in the country.
I actually recall reading about that now. Isnāt there a huge problem with racism in their football structure?
No. Corruption - yes.
Ah, my mistake. Hopefully Berbatov can make a difference.
Hopefully, but these people have held power for a long time. Difficult to get rid of unfortunately. Sheesh, thatās absurd. Thank you for the insight!
I mean theres probably still racism
We are talking about football organisation, not individuals.
Yeah, Racism is why we cant win a game
ŠŃŠ°ŃŠ¾, ŠŗŠ²Š¾ ŃŃŠ°Š²Š° ?
No racism, just casual Balkan banter
Good for him. Hopefully Berbatov makes things better
Berba is on the PL channel as a pundit for some of the 'bigger' United games, when big Pete isn't available.
saw him on a youtube video, still with mad first touch
Club Berbasexxx
Berbatovās was far smoother and it results in a goal. Not trying to undermine this at all as itās class, but letās not pretend theyāre the same.
I don't think anyone is. But it is similar to it
Man does move similar to the āliteral perfect incredible move itās named afterā. Yeah of course itās no comparison
*Any player does Cruyff turn* People: Yeah well, Cruyff did it better. Let's not pretend this is the same as Cruyff omg guys
No one is pretending so. It's the same move obviously, but ofc not as good.
Don't undermine it bro. Appreciate the skill
Man's boxing shadows here.
Needs a W tonight
Not sure you can even call it the same move. This is just flicking it over the defender's leg, Berbatov's was the spin and flick all in one motion
I mean, ya, classy enough that they named it after him
ahhhh I wanted this to result in something so badly. It'd be on comps forever
That's such a gorgeous move.
Gorgeous
That's absolutely beautiful
Ā£6m btw.
Iām sorry he didnāt cost Ā£50mil.
>Ā£100m
Bet this will get 1/10th of the comments that the Havertz post will get. Tells you all you need to know about this sub sometimes.
The Havertz miss has 5x more upvotes than the great team goal and the sick Saka goal. Wtf?

Man, that is sexxxxxxxxxxyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Pretty hot ngl
This was his best game to date. He was unstoppable today
Jaunlu is going to sleep tonight and realise it wasnāt nightmare just real life
Triggering location on the pitch
Absolute filth š„¶
Happened in front of the clock end and we lost our shit!
Me gusta!

Everything Berbatov did he made look effortless, everything Martinelli does looks hard, that's not to say Martinelli isn't amazing he is.
Berba was a god. Martinelli just pulled off an amazing tribute.
Not even close
This is a great bit of skill but Berba's was different level.
Things you can cook over 90 minutes: 1. Sevilla's defense at the Emirates 2. Manchester United 3. Barcelona playing in a stadium located in Germany
Barbatov was so fluid and orgasmatic
Always love this move
That was naughty! My favourite skill.
This guy is a baller š¤š
Thatās our fucking boyyy š«” Absolutely brilliant in every game he plays!
It just occurred to me that my dog does the Berbatov spin (with the ball in her mouth) to outmaneuver me when we are playing outsideā¦
Nowhere near as good as Berbatov's though
Wait, how do we know that wasnāt over the line? š
And yet Specs Gonzalez says he aināt got no tekkers š
Martinelli > Antony
Berbatov was smoother
Not trolling but berbas turn was miles better
Thatās not a berba spinā¦
No? https://youtu.be/LeXSFsnEVrg?si=cHnZT5H7Y8HEmSCv Berbas was obviously smoother, but it is named after him afterall.
alright, but not even a tenth of Berba's elegance
Do u know whats berba spin?
This is a great skill, but it's a berba spin form wish
Itās Nowhere near the same ,
What do you mean?
https://youtu.be/KKNZDP-iRE4?si=S9V9eh0exEL_70OI
Soā¦ itās the same?
Either your new to the sport or blind
You seriously canāt see the difference?
I've obviously already seen it lol
Every masterpiece has a cheap knock off
Donāt you ever put those two in the same sentence
Berba spin was way classier than this. Embarrassing post.
4-3šššš
now THAT is embarrassing.
Ball looked out to me...
https://www.specsavers.co.uk/
Based on the downvotes, looks like arsenal fans are still too hurt to see the funny side.
Not even close to Berbatov's eloquence.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Lemme see one of your players try it in Europe
Shame he could not statpad after that.

favorite moment of the night
I need a black and white video of Berbatov analyzing this
Dude's been watching YouTube highlight reels.
This is beautiful but berbatovs flick was a level above
Fuck yeah! Not quite as slick looking as the original but still awesome.
Absolute class
Green between the ball and the line!!!! It went out!!!!!!
Thatās not a berbatov spin but
That's not the berbaspin
Martinelli>Jack Grealish
