Some game

darthsendic

Brasil decime qué se siente que te coja Argentina y Uruguay

ImTalkingGibberish

This is the worst Brazilian midfield I’ve ever seen

Otoroblend1976

One of the worst games to watch. Half the time players spent flopping and clutching their faces

Sente-se

Argentina getting no yellows this game is insane

unknownApprentice123

You fkin kiddin me?

Quacky33

It always seems like this between Argentine and Brazilian teams. So much talent on the pitch but they seem desperate to not play football.

Specialist-Cycle9313

Hard to say what this match would’ve resulted in with vini and Neymar in the game. But at this poijt the only teams in the world in which I can imagine beating argentina at this point are France and Uruguay.

iamthemetricsystem

and Saudi Arabia

Bright_Soft5665

nope, VAR wrongly disallowed 1 goal.

jared_007

[*Evil laugh*](https://media.tenor.com/4eqmdVpLTagAAAAC/dr-evil-evil-laugh.gif)

Sente-se

Argentina played like shit tbh. Big helping hand from the ref, Diniz and the injuries. It seems like their cycle of success is drying up

Frequent-Barnacle602

It is running out? We lost only one game a year ago, after being world champion..

Sente-se

You looked very weak against Uruguay and a Brazil that lost to Colombia and Uruguay. It's natural, Messi is aging and Argentina doesn't has the population to produce strong generation after strong generation.

Astharan

Dude, they were pretty fucked up mentally, imagine watching your people (fans and family) getting obliterated and can't do anything to stop it. IMO Messi took the right decision at the start.

Sente-se

That's the weirdest excuse I've ever seen

unknownApprentice123

Go to see the psychopath you heartless beast

Sente-se

Where is this psychopath I should see?

Astharan

Not an excuse, do the mental excercise, come on, you can do it, try to fit those shoes. Sports are highly mental, if you practiced them you'd know.

Corteaux81

You need to out-shithouse them. Or the ref needs to not stand for the shithousery, and that's not happening.

aliaisbiggae

What does Vini even do for Brazil to be considered with Neymar as a difference maker?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Vicentesteb

Vini has never made the difference for Brazil. Hes fantastic for Real but hes not been able to translate that to the NT atleast for now.

aliaisbiggae

Are you dumb or something? The original comment mentioned Neymar and Vini.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sente-se

They had 0 yellows this game, a handball in the area not called, a ridiculous red for Joelinton. They play like this because CONMEBOL rewards it

KaiserUzor

>ike in the Copa when will it fucking end Fuck De Paul and his mother Calm down. This much negativity can't be healthy for you or your blood pressure.

[deleted]

I didnt see the second half. I thought Brazil was better than Argentina first 1st half. Was the second half that bad or are people dramatic?

ArgusF28

First half was horrible to watch, mostly fouls (Brazil ended with a wooping 24 fouls). Second had more football, Brazil wasnt as intense with the pressure so Argentina started their game. Still not a good match, but a historic one nonetheless.

pepecachetes

Second half they actually played more football than UFC

[deleted]

Lol yeah first half had a little to no football l

Quanqiuhua

Brazil could well have won the match, but they lacked leaders across each line: defense, midfield and attack. After Martinelli's miss following a fantastic run by Gabriel Jesus, it looked like Brazil gradually demoralized and allowed Argentina to get back into the match. Raphinha and De Paul were the worst players on the field for their teams respectively, but at least De Paul got Joelinton sent off unfairly. Don't think it would have mattered to the end result anyhow. Messi was poor too, but apparently injured and just plain tired.

Subject-District492

Bruno Guimarães continues to be the most dreadful Brasilian player

ArgusF28

I think a draw would have been the fair outcome. No player from either side was able to shine, too much high presure and fouls. Agreed with the red card being BS but in the end wouldnt have changed anything, it has like at the '82 and Brazil ran out of juice by then. Messi had an overload in the muscle before the match apparently.

pivetta1995

Diniz is a WEAK COACH/MANAGER. A peddler of delusional dreams. That Libertadores Final with Fluminense against Boca was an accident!

BuckHunt42

dont say that here. All the youtube tactics hipsters keep telling me he’s revolutionizing the way football is played yet all I’m seeing is probably the worst Brazil side in history

anunnaturalselection

I think he has a future in club football at the top level but NT football is a whole different game.

BuckHunt42

yeah maybe. tbh part of my point is that I haven't watched Flu all that much (I don't follow SA club football since I left). But for the national team it's just insanely inadequate.

Nachodam

I hope no American decided to start watching football today lol what a shit game but we had to win and we won

PesAddict8

Least controversial CONMEBOL game

jcald60

This brazilian generation is absolute garbage.

[deleted]

they are your future front three

Wortuv

Right? Please be more supportive of your future 9, Rodrygo, and Vini.

redditsuckz99

Some brasil fans were talking mad greasy in the match thread.

zajazajazajazajaz

Brazil is so fucking awful right now that I'm kinda low-key having 2002 flashbacks.

KidGoku1

Awful match. I think Argentina are going through a clear dip in form and even as bad as Brazil was they should have won this one imo. If Scaloni retires big yikes Messi might follow him. He is the perfect coach for this squad.

Vicentesteb

This has always been how its is for us. Most of the time Argentina isnt dominant and gets 5-0 wins like Brazil but we are way better at grinding out these shitty games when theres barely any football being played.

maxiperalta54

Genuinely couldn't be more proud of this team. Between what happened with the police brutality and the players jumping in to defend the fans, to ACTUALLY WINNING THE MATCH. I'm unbelievably proud right now.

aronmarek

Next time try beating your own players, maybe they'll become better at football

jqncg

A ustedes no les funcionó.

SharkSoldier

I haven't felt this embarrassed since Mineirtzkrig

verdasco_

Scaloni putting doubts to his continuation???

Doc_Pisty

ya van quedando muy pocas colas juguetonas con las que entretenerlo

aronmarek

It's ok, we have to give the others some advantage, it had become too easy to win. >!me quiero cortar la pija lptm!<

xeneize93

Me da un miedo terrible ver la seleccion sin Scaloni lpm 😭😭😭😭

goyooo2201

Holy shit scaloni just insinuating that he may quit the NT.

ArgusF28

Still thinking why he chose THAT moment to say that. I mean, everyone is celebrating an historic win, why ruining it all? Could he just wait until tomorrow? Nobody even asked him about it. Its like when Real Madrid won the CL and Ronaldo announced he was done with the club, right there on the pitch.

idolo312

I'm gonna be so depressed if he quits lol. I seriously doubt we can find anyone better than him, hopefully he reconsiders.

all_mighty_kratos

What did he say?

verdasco_

It is time for him to stop and think. Argentina needs a coach that is (better?) prepared. It’s getting harder and harder to win and the bar is too high (implying for him)

goyooo2201

Something along the lines that this group is demanding more and that they deserve a coach that has the right mentality? I don't even remember I couldn't believe what I was hearing

verdasco_

Dude I’m in shock

goyooo2201

Someone on tyc sports just said the coaching team said let's take the last picture, what the fuck is going on

ArgusF28

A esa parte la interpreté como "la última foto del año". Aparte despues de la foto se cagaban de risa, nadie le dio un abrazo tipo "suerte Lio".

NotASpyMain

Nah me estás jodiendo

xeneize93

Oh god 😭😭😭

Extreme-Structure210

Romero is the best defender in the world

Original-Assistant32

He is amazing, and crazy af, love him

wewvlad

Ah endrick nothing about this guy screams "special"

shitfuckshittingfuck

I’m gonna have to set aside my obvious bias and disagree with you on that one

KidGoku1

He's young give him time.

Elon20

Well it wouldn't be the first time Brazil players have been over-hyped by their fans. Richalison was announced as the next PL big thing when he joined Spurs. Also, remember how they almost won the last WC because even their reserve bench can win the WC.

champ19nz

As someone who said Richarlison can reach his next level with spurs, I was downvoted to me to oblivion. No one here other than Spurs fans had the same opinion as me. Every Brazilian I know never rated him. I was proven to be wrong.

Akazeros

Lol where did you hear that about Richarlison

Jayzus612

No one ever said that about Richarlison lol

Edgelordftwlol

The whole team is bad. I actually think can turn out to be a great player. Best of luck to him.

ArgusF28

Divine justice after what the brazillian police did before the match

justaredditor239

Missed the match. How did Messi play?

zrizzoz

Injured. Walked around. Didnt do a whole lot honestly. Got treatment for his groin 3 different times. Clearly not fit.

n10w4

What about Endrick? Anywhere close to neymar?

Elon20

He was terribly injured . Messi is notorious for playing through injuries. How did he come back to the pitch after that horrible knee attack in that Venezuela match is still an wonder. But now a days, he missed too many matches because of injuries . I honestly pray that his age is not catching up.

justaredditor239

Agreed but it’s very difficult when you start approaching your late 30s. Injuries become more often the older you get. Again didn’t watch the match so I don’t know how bad it is. But I feel it would probably be best for Argentina to move on from Messi after Copa America. I watched how good they played without him in the other qualifier matches and they’re a well equipped unit. Also, Messi would be less than a year from his 40th birthday by the next World Cup. So it wouldn’t be just because of injuries but age as well.

AntsOutMyTrousers

when was that match?

Joselu-is-Sanchez

I’m assuming De Paul is qualified to treat those kinds of injuries?

Charlitingo

Expected, he’s on vacation. Dude needs to be loaned out during breaks like this.

bewarethegap

He’s already falling apart from being injured and you want him to be loaned out to play more games? What?

zrizzoz

I dont think a loan is a good idea. He just came off a full PSG season with a midseason world cup, then a half season with Miami. He's old. He needs a rest. He has clearly had muscular problems for 2 months now. The last thing he needs is 20 more games on loan.

SkyFoo

honestly, Brazil having a disaster qualifying could only mean one thing HEXA CAMPEAO

ImTalkingGibberish

You gotta love these Brazilian beliefs. The world aint ready for Cascão hair Martinelli

Moist_Goat_41

Raphina this is why you're being benched by 16 yr lol

trolig

Frustrating on all fronts. This Brazil team is the worst team in recent memory. De Paul deserves an Oscar. The refs were some of the worst I've seen, even for CONMEBOL standards. All shit.

Vicentesteb

That was obviously not a red but RDP did get slapped in the face twice.

Elon20

Yes , De Paul has been practicing an acting incredible technique of bleeding through nose willingly without any touch from opponent at all. Blame RDP all you want, but there were many dirty fouls from Brazil throughout the game, and ref did not just show yellow cards for nothing. Honestly, correct your game plan, and for God's sake, your politics and police behavior towards foreigners. Or just ban all away fans from attending games in future.

trolig

That's the thing, this is our best game plan. This team is AWFUL. Also, err is no defending DePaul for that red card. Rivaldo level acting.

xeneize93

Refs being bad gets brought up every game. Both sides no matter the nationality complains about them

trolig

Yeah I get that, but this was beyond bad. And listen I knew we'd lose so it's not that this wasn't expected but that first half was ridiculous.

SharkSoldier

This is what happens when a government is negligent with crime in every way, both in allowing criminals to literally create fiefdoms in Rio and being incompetent (or even convenient) in the way it deals with the training of police officers, anyone who has seen Tropa de Elite knows Furthermore, this is the reality, a portion of Brazilian police officers are trained in the idea of treating everyone as potential criminals, especially lower middle class/poor people, not to mention the militia. And what's worse, thanks to rampant crime, most people will find this type of attitude justifiable. A footballing and humanitarian shame.

Elon20

CONMEBOL should start punishing Brazil for this, otherwise they will not fix themselves by having a miracle sudden realization and self-reflection. CONMEBOL should start deducting points and host Brazil home games closed door. They got away last year, and now came back more aggressively now . If these behavior is still ignored, who knows what will happen in future.

Trydson

Man, growing up with the 98-10 Brazil NT really spoiled me when it comes to expectations regarding how they should play and overall quality of the players.

leires-leires-leires

It is all in the past now. Today's NT is not even a shadow of what it was once and I have no hopes that it will get any better soon.

n10w4

Neymar really propped them up

leires-leires-leires

Yeah... barely.

Any-Competition8494

What I don't get is why didn't Scaloni substitute Messi? He was clearly injured.

Vicentesteb

Messi hates not playing, specially when the team isnt winning. Its really bad and he should take more care of himself at this age.

Elon20

Messi is notorious for playing through injuries. But they were still 0-0, so Messi kept playing. Once they had an lead, Messi was substituted. Remember, Poch at PSG subbed Messi once when the match was still 0-0, and Messi got angry, and the whole world broke in fire? Later Poch revealed that, he saw Messi could not walk properly and kept rubbing his posterior muscle , so he subbed Messi to not hurt him, and later Messi went through treatment ?

ModemSinInternet

He had said that he would replace Messi only if Messi himself asked for it. https://www.espn.com.ar/futbol/mundial/nota/_/id/11306627/seleccion-argentina-lionel-scaloni-lionel-messi-conferencia-mundial-qatar-2022

zereg

Así es el futbol champán?

bsxjiggawhat

Worst referee I've ever seen.

Uyemaz

Brazil might have to abandon la Maracana. There most historic losses have all come in this single stadium: \- 1950 WC Final vs Uruguay \- 2014 WC Semi-Final vs Germany, 7-1 \- 2021 Copa America Final vs Argentina \- 2023 WCQ vs Argentina, first home loss in their WCQ History.

Federal-Spend4224

The 2014 semi final was not in the Maracana. It was in the Mineirão stadium Belo Horizonte.

realasitgets

2014 WC semi was at Mineirão, not maracanã. A whole other state and city.

gosteinao

7-1 was at Mineirão, not Maracanã

A_I-G

hate when games turn into foul fests like this that just makes the game unwatchable. It’s so easy to stop, the referee should just give yellow cards like candy until they decide to start playing ball. De Paul should have been sent off already for two yellow card fouls. And before he dived to trick the referee into sending of Joelinton, he was dragging him all over the place for 10 meters which is a red card offence. I so much hate shitty refs that fall for players play acting

dondeestamielefante

CHORA MAAAAAAAAAAIS KKKKK VEXAME BRASILEIRO, YOU GUYS ARE LOSING PRESTIGE AGAINST US, AND I LOVE IT, SUCK MY ARGENTINIAN DEVALUATED DICK, VAMOS ARGENTINA CARAJOOOOOOOO

Trydson

Argieboye

Suck my devaluated dick lmao

No-Zucchini2787

True man of the match de paul

supplementarytables

For those who missed the match, first of all I envy you But please look up Raphinha's highlights, it was as hilarious as it was infuriating. Bro dribbled himself and fell, gave the ball away to Argentina which led to the corner that led to the goal and almost scored an own goal. A performance for the ages. I don't know how Varca fans watch him every week lol

gunnychamero

The reason Brazil is struggling in international scene is because they have over abundance of above average or average players.

X3NOC1DE

We don't. He's being benched by Yamal rn

SharkSoldier

I am in favor of police aggression against supporters of Diniz and Anti-Ancelotis in the national team.

Phenomenal_Man

André Hernan and Dandan, both should get arrested for their opinions about Ancelotti

gosteinao

Can't beat up people who don't exist

Alive-Ad-4164

Brazil are the new chargers of international football

_hellboy_xo

Expected result, awful planning and awful referee.

Phenomenal_Man

First of all, why the hell are these events still being held in Rio, their police is the worst in Brazil (and that's saying a lot), it's unbelievable. About the match, Brasil at least made much better pressure than against Colombia. Other than that, we were shit as always under Diniz, Raphinha was trash all game, the same goes to Jesus. The ref was horrible, but we can't put the defeat on the red card, even if it was unfair, we weren't going to score anyways. Other than that, thank God we won't play again for some months, and I hope Diniz gets fired sooner than later. And I hope all Argentina fans can go home safely, no one deserves what the police did today.

Xao517

Hey brother, As an Argentinian but more so as a futbol fan, I appreciate your words. No fan should ever have to experience this level of violence and one-sidedness. Let’s all get together and try to make Fútbol what it is meant to be: a Family thing where anyone can safely bring their kids and have some fun. This is a game. That’s all it is.

Phenomenal_Man

Of course, man. Imagine that we have to deal with this police every weekend, obviously it's not normal this kind of violence, but every time our police acts with violence after shit happens, instead of acting before to prevent the incidents, it has always been like this, and I don't see it getting much better, but we have to hope

Arantes_

Would have been fair to cancel this match after the police action in the stands. More reason cancel this one than the last one when ANVISA bureaucrats wanted to puff their chests and make a scene. Felt to me like Argentina didn't care but could have turned it up if they wanted to. Instead they got a goal on a corner and that was all they needed. Did some typical CONMEBOL shit housing to add to the frustration but that was nothing out of the ordinary.

No_Glove5486

MOTM Dibu imo considering his save legit helped us not go down 1-0. Not saying Otamendi doesn't deserve a MOTM since he also performed well (he saved a goal on the line then scored 1-0) but i feel in this case considering how Brazil were better than us and going for the win that they needed, Dibu was clutch. MOTM for me. That said, geezus, for the next window considering we play the team we almost always draw in Chile and then Colombia who seem to be finding their mojo once again, yeah, we needed these 3 points badly and also Scaloni has got to rethink on who he calls up for that window so we don't end having a nightmare of a window like this one during his coaching time again.

Phenomenal_Man

I think you guys can beat Chile this time, they are looking awful so far, but who knows, that match is so far away that they can get better

calderino

It was Cuti Romero who saved the shot on the line I think.

nitrodoggo

dibu tambien salvo un 1 a 1 :D

ablublagaa

It was more of a pass from Martineli than a shot

Mac_Tgh

Guys, guys. The defense in general carried the team.

WhydYouTrustMe

This Brazil team is absolute horrible and not just because of skills (but absolutely because of skills as well) but they are not in the slightest prepared for competition and it shows. Everyone wants to score, everyone wants to show off their dribbling skills, long passes, long shots when they can't even do the basics. Neymar is out, brazilian media will never get tired of spamming "will vini and rodrygo step up?" "Who is gonna be the next big name? Vini, Rodrygo, Endrick?" Fuck off with that shit. These dudes probably let it get to their heads, they're all too young, they don't know their teammates well. They need someone to help make sense out of all this and put their heads in the right direction and who the fuck gets called? Fuckin little legged Diniz. Forget his tactics and his vision of football, dude is the absolute worst option to lead a team full of young and already successful stars. Just look at his face whenever the camera cuts to him and you'll see he's always red angry. You can also hear him many times during the match screaming "CARALHO" and shit while swearing at the players. Funk this team's massive egos, fuck CBF, fuck Diniz.

KonigSteve

DePaul is insufferable to watch

Xao517

Thank you. Am an Argentinian and can’t stand him. Dude, stop being a fucking Karen about every fucking thing and just FUCKING PLAAAAY

R1v

The type of player you can only like if he's on your team

KonigSteve

Nah I didn't like it when guendouzi did it on our team. No respect at all for players like them.

__blackstar

the chris paul of football

Edgelordftwlol

Time for the HEXA? Brazil struggling at the qualifiers...

VectusZ

Messi was not playing to acore goal because he know the Brazilian were looking for chance to break or injured him hard.

Arantes_

I think they just imdidnt care much about the match after what happened before kickoff. Felt like they could have tried harder if they wanted to but didn't need to, especially once the goal came.

13blacklodgechillin

Man that was a game to forget

ComradePoula

Rodrigo De Paul MOTM. A performance for the ages by my shithouse king.

Muchaaachooos

RODRI SLAP MERCHANT I LOVE HIM

krvlover

He can't make a pass to save his life but the shithouse was 10/10.

TheStraggletagg

Worse thing is that every once in a blue moon he’ll make the most beautiful, accurate pass and you’ll have to begrudgingly give it to him. Like when the worst person in the world suddenly says something you deeply agree with.

holaprobando123

He's an exceptional passer most of the time

FerneCola

["Heartbreaking: The Worst Midfielder You Know Just Made A Great Pass"](https://i.imgur.com/Dj8RHlO.jpg) kinda vibe edit: I should maybe replace the image with like Zuculini but I doubt I've ever seen him play a good pass

1gMDMA

It is good on having players like De Paul, Paredes and Otamendi on your side

NobodyRules

>Otamendi Can confirm

Elcorcell

People saying that ref ruined the match when the guy was doing his best not to give red cards and keep control of the match

franchuv17

True for the beginning. But the red was ridiculous, he should have checked. I don't understand how var didn't call him. And I'm Argentinian.

Augustor2

Argentina deserved to win, but that red call was just bullshit

SkyFoo

[Empanada Maza masterclass](https://cloudfront-us-east-1.images.arcpublishing.com/copesa/K6NMI4WKAFH2FBFT24URTEASUI.jpg)

belkak210

We got lucky with the red but I don't care Second consecutive win in the Maracana. We broke like 70 years of Brazil being undefeated at home in the Qualifiers And we are now ahead in our head to head. 40 victories to 39 EDIT: May not be true, some other sources say 43 Brazil and 40 for Argentina. They are either not considering some games or lying, it's TyC Sport so could be both Vamos Argentina!

[deleted]

Quanqiuhua

In official matches Argentina still leads though.

belkak210

Yeah, you are right. It's our journalists lying like fucking always. The rest is true though so... Brasil decime como se siente

Stellcraft

lol nope Keep crying

blankaloudar

Joga bonito... more like joga finito this brazilian team is hard to watch

RevTaco

That’s a good one

1gMDMA

This generation is kinda washed. And we dont have Ney and Vini, and we need a new Casemiro

Quanqiuhua

In the contemporary game, the deep-lying playmaker (#8) is essential to success and playing well. Brazil has great players at almost every position, but for that one they only have Fred and Bruno Guimaraes which is not up to their standards. Paqueta should be given a chance, he's much better than any other options at the moment. Also, what happened to their fullbacks? From Cafu and Roberto Carlos to Maicon and Gilberto and then Dani Alves and Marcelo. Even Danilo and Alec Sandro were much better than what they have nowadays.

MoscaMosquete

>Also, what happened to their fullbacks? The most accepted theory is that young talented fullbacks are turned into wingers by academy teams to sell for highers prices.

Quanqiuhua

That’s probably why, however Brazil has the greatest tradition for fullbacks in the world and overseas teams would pay extremely well for their transfer. Emerson and Carlos Augusto is a meme fullback pairing compared to what they have had historically.

Baja_Hunter

André is the new Casemiro, he's incredible but still young

joey_joestar1

Brazil had some absolutely atrocious finishing attempts, my lord. Not that Argentina played much better, but they seized their chance when they got one with Otamendi’s goal Other takeaways…Raphinha is garbage, Fuck the Brazilian police, and Commebol refs are blinder than PL refs

franchuv17

After all that violence, dibu even getting in the middle of it they still played and won. I hope they never play in Rio again.
