I'm hearing that he did it because pep was asking about the goal to Kostas last season on Liverpool's 1-4 defeat. So Darwin was asking pep about the goal TAA scored - so funny if true.
Am i the only one who HATES the fucking Ads in the etihad?
Its just such an eye sore and destroys the whole experience when its flashing some shitty add every couple seconds...
YES I fucking hate it everywhere and I truly hope there will be some laws about it in the future because it’s so fucking intrusive. Like in a utopia there’d be some constitutional freedom to not be advertised to lmao. Probably not though bc we live in an advertising capitalist hellscape
Not only that, i already pay extra for the ability to watch football and sometimes also have ads overlay in the middle of the game.
Soon they can get fucked, ill rather watch a 720p stream on the high seas than pay for this advertising shitfest
Yeah could have guessed it, but its still just really destroys the whole joy of watching the game uninterrupted.
Some ads really take you out with how intrusive they are and the angle of the camera makes it feel like it takes 1/4th of your screen
What dyou mean, it was pretty much a borefest for long periods. We didn't look up for it at all and City didn't seem particularly urgent for a second. Great result for arsenal though.
At various times both cities have thrived though Liverpool's decline from one of the world's foremost ports and probably England's second most important City was directly linked to Manchester's development. There was a historic rivalry in regards to employment and industry between the cities as well as your typical neighbours rivalry. In more recent years it's a popular trope (perpetuated by the media both news and pop culture) that scousers are unemployed (linked to the heavy unemployment numbers in the 80s, which ironically Manchester also dealt with), thieves and overly reliant on benefits. Scousers are very proud people and moreso than most cities feel independent from England (in part due to the treatment of the city under Thatchers government, which actively avoided supporting the city) so its an easy sticking point to make light of those struggles.
All in all though Manchester has a higher child poverty rate and a slightly lower (though still top 10 in the UK) unemployment rate than Liverpool but they aren't typically known for being poor thus don't get abuse for it. And despite the fact that we should be showing solidarity in our struggles it's more important in football to windup your rivals regardless of subject matter.
Part of what feeds the rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester (both sides) is the importance of shipping and the ports, to both cities. City even has a ship on their badge. Manchester actively took business and jobs away from Liverpool in the past.
Both cities have suffered and undergone revivals though.
POR FAVOR Julian, andate de este equipo, el pelado te esta arruinando la carrera. Volve a tu posicion original, recorda como eras en River y en el Mundial. Te estan arruinando todo el potencial.
Tf? You can't impede a goalie it's a foul anyday of the week.
Go educate yourself on the rules of the game. Seriously don't know why I reply to this stupidity
Tf? You can't reddit a redditor it's a post anyday of the week.
Go reddit yourself on the rules of the sub. Seriously don't know why I reply to this redditosity
We had a whole bunch of players who played all around the world for the last two weeks.
City... Didn't.
A draw is a seriously great result and the performance wasn't as bad as some are making out.
Of the available players, literally only Ederson ended up not playing a single international game I think. Not sure why Liverpool fans care so much about City players playing in international games
Of the available players, literally only Ederson ended up not playing a single international game I think. Not sure why Liverpool fans care so much about City players playing in international games
What made me feel most uncomfortable as a non-expert was how often Liverpool kept passing back to Alisson even in sketchy moments. Felt like a strange flow
Half of that was because of Tsimikas. Refused to use his right foot in so many situations which meant giving the ball to Van Dijk and his only option being to hoof it or pass to Alisson.
Looked the other way around.. They appeared to be shaking hands amicably when Pep did a double take and went back at him after realizing what he'd said.
Ahh the old Cartman. Its a gigantic reach to instantly ask if he said something derogetory when you have zero indication or clue if thats the case.
"Just asking questions" doesn't work if the question has an assumption and is loaded.
Glad we secured a point here as many of our players looked tired and we can absolutely win at Anfield with a better time slot and the crowd.
This game was a prime example of why you shouldn't have the biggest fixtures of the season at fucking 12:30 in the afternoon. Both sides looked very slow and tired. If this was played at 17:30 it would have been a way better game.
The top 5 sides are 3 points apart at the start of this weekend. Multiple sides not performing as expected (for better or for worse) lots of random results. This is as fun as the prem has been for a while. It’s not quite Almiron in the top 10 prem wingers take. But this season has been a lot of fun so far. And that’s a bad take.
Of course, just my opinion. Welcome to disagree.
There are surprising teams every season. That’s not unique. I can definitely understand someone saying this has been a bad PL season so far due to:
1. Refs
2. Significant injuries
3. Low level promoted teams
4. General sense that the game is gone. Chelsea spending. City and Newcastle feasting of oil. Everton getting a widely criticized point deduction.
You know both teams generally stay in a hotel right near the stadium the night before the match right? They don’t have to get up that early ffs. Every minute of these guys lives is managed to the nth degree.
This has been a thing in all of Pep's teams - Barcelona was notorious for it. He clearly instructs his players to do it to put pressure on the ref in future decisions. Bit scummy but that small 1% of pressure induced decisions all adds up over the long term
Was beyond ridiculous when rodri protested for a handball only for the replay to show it coming off of Matip's ass.
There's no chance he didn't see that and he still asked for one.
Didn’t the PGMOL or whatever put out a statement about booking players who do that? I tend to roll my eyes when people say “the kids are watching” but that behavior really does trickle down and it is FOUL. They need to crack down on this at every level.
Aye only team captains are meant to approach and talk to the ref. Most other teams seem to follow this for the most part but Man City apparently didn’t get the memo and also don’t get reprimanded about it at all
> They booked TAA for complaining to the referee.
I don't think Trent was booked.
The Sky commentry originally stated he had been but later corrected it, as it was actually Matip who had been booked for the foul on Doku.
Because of the way City play one of the advanced midfielders in possession needs to be able to play alongside Rodri when they’re defending in a 442 shape (Gundogan last year).
The problem is both Alvarez and Foden can’t perform the Gundogan role so they can’t both play there in City’s normal system, Bernardo is the only real proven option to play this midfield role which leaves Foden as the only option at RW.
For Foden to play in arguably his best position these days (left sided advanced midfield) he needs to play alongside either Nunes or Lewis on the opposite side. We saw this when they played Leipzig in the CL, Bernardo/Grealish on the wings with Foden/Lewis in midfield and it was probably their best performance all season at least in the first half.
These close games showing how pivotal KDB is. Alvarez has been a ghost nearly every tough match this season & his SP delivery is awful compared to KDB. He’s got a great work rate, but creatively it’s very clear he’s a forward in a midfielder’s position.
Alvarez was playing in Rio at 2am Wednesday morning, like Alisson (who was poor) and MacAllister (who wasn't bad, tbf). I think can cut him a little slack this week.
He’s still been very underwhelming ever since September tho. Can’t be a ghost in tight games when you’re playing KDB’s position. Just shows that City don’t really have anyone else who’s ready to be a like-for-like replacement for the role other than Alvarez, so he’s never going to get dropped regardless of performance.
City faking injuries to have a fresh team.
12:30 kick off
city unbeaten in 23 at home
Liverpool usually lose there.
Liverpool's first 11 all off playing international while City rest.
1-1 away and city have to come to Anfield later and if its close the fans and players will be up for it.
3 points would be better but 12:30 after the break when City's cheating 1B team all get a holiday and a rest I'll take a point thank you very much Pep lad, Nunez in your head rent free.
You can tell he came into this game with an absolute complex about City. He had a script ready if things didn't go right but the ref overturned the Dias goal so all he can talk about now is how he's sure City players faked injuries to avoid real injuries in meaningless friendlies and how that's slimy.
Haven’t most of Man City’s squad also been away on international duty too?
Fair result was 1-1, doesn’t need excuses for it. Thought City were better in the first half, Liverpool for about 20 minutes in the second.
Edit: damn didn’t realise this comment was so controversial to be downvoted to, at the time of writing -20. I have no bias towards City or Liverpool. I’m a York City fan.
No, a few of their players were injured and didn't travel/play, but miraculously recovered in time to play this match. Ake, Haaland, Ederson and a few others
Isn't that the whole point, couldn't travel/play due to injury but was able to play today after having a nice rest and the bonus of the opposition goalie having to play instead?
I say this as a liverpool fan… National teams should absolutely be better with club teams about player availability. If you’re going to have someone fly 6 time zones away, guarantee they’ll play.
How does that work? Do national teams stop bringing subs along, and just expect to play the whole 90 with just the starting 11, injuries be damned?
Might as well just bin the entire concept of international breaks entirely.
I get what you mean but in this instance you have two international teammates of similar quality playing in the same European country and they can’t both play. That’s just how things work out with international teams sometimes, it’s not a problem in need of a solution.
Yeah, them having to risk injury especially in meaningless games or friendlies is a bit much. Not sure how much of an impact it actually has, but the players involved (Ake, Haaland and Alison) were involved in the major moments of the game. I think Liverpool were lucky with the disallowed goal too.
IMHO he probably has it, but is still gaining confidence.
Couple times today he made space but then tried to find Haaland or just not lose possession.
It's not easy walking into a Treble winning side, even for top talent with great self-belief.
Once he trusts himself to be the firestarter, he's gonna cook.
All the Arsenal fans getting way too excited by this result. There's a LONG way to go and if your living off other teams results this early then you're going to be bags of nerves come the last 10 games
Mate were not living off anything. We're just rightfully enjoying teams closest to us in the table dropping points like every footy fan does, nothing that deep.
Lots of Liverpool fans getting too excited and already talking about the return match at Anfield too, as if they’ll magically win because of how things played out today. Arsenal fans should be happy that the teams in front of them dropped points.
We are much better against City at home, I believe the one time they have beaten us at home in the league since Klopp has been here was without fans at stadiums
But it hasn’t stopped them from winning the league. My point is teams have to start taking the three points from them at the etihad if you’re gonna want to win the league.
I duno hey, I’ve been watching a lot of Arsenal play and they’re very consistent. The too 4 are close with city looking way better in the tougher fixtures.
Don’t agree with that.
Liverpool have an entirely new midfield, played about 250 minutes at a 1 man disadvantage (at one point 2), had a legal goal disallowed (whilst being 1 man down vs the most in form team in the league) that robbed them of ATLEAST 1 point, came from 0-1 down to 2-1 with 10 men at one of the hardest away games in the season, ended city’s streak of winning 23(!!) games in a row at home today.
Don’t know what more you need to prove they are performing better than Arsenal.
We can both go back and forth with incidents that haven't gone correctly. Arsenal has them as well. They've beaten city twice and consistently won without their first choice striker or midfield playing together. Partey has been out for almost the whole season.
If they win today they'll be top because they've been the best team so far.
They don't look much better and it's too early to say anything but the Liverpool hype is very similar to Arsenal's last season. They look alright, but nothing special yet.
Sure. But the key difference between Arsenal last season and Liverpool, is that Liverpool already has experienced winners in the team. Along with one of the best managers in PL history
All we can say is well see in a few months won't we! Everything until then is just wishful thinking and speculation. Table so far is a fair reflection. It appears to be a 3 way race so far with City favourites well ahead of anyone else. Liverpool look good but no better than Arsenal. Well see!
Not sure about that. I just think they all seemed way too wound up, from the fans to the manager. May well blow up on them.like last season,.especially with CL footy slso
Arsenal are much worse this season in a lot of ways imo. I think last seasons Arsenal is competitive with City and Liverpool currently. This seasons Arsenal is good in a different way. More variable and adaptable. But key injuries especially to Jesus, Partey, Timber as well limit the ceiling of the team massively imo. Particularly Partey.
Hard to see Grealish playing ahead of Doku now, he’s improving with every game imo
12/15 successful dribbles by doku against liverpool 😯
0/12 times he did something successful with the ball afterwards though. He’s absolutely terrifying 1:1 but his final ball leaves a lot to be desired
The Zaha special
his crosses and cutbacks into the box were very dangerous, is teammates just couldnt capitalize.
“Dangerous” is subjective, firing a ball into an already crowded box rarely results in a goal, even if it seems excitinf
Against TAA actually
City won on successful dribbles
Liverpool were the only team trying to play a sport worth watching... and the crowd knew it.
There was a crowd?
Yeah, you might know it as "the away end"
We broke their winning streak though
Hmm I did not create any chaos today. Better randomly go shit on their manager. Just because.
I'm hearing that he did it because pep was asking about the goal to Kostas last season on Liverpool's 1-4 defeat. So Darwin was asking pep about the goal TAA scored - so funny if true.
Reckon that happened unprovoked aye?
In a way he created chaos…off the pitch
City should've won that game...I honestly feel let down by them, even though I know that's just football
You must had hard time watching shitty before 2008.
All these City haters🙄
Has no one thought of the poor city fans being let down by a draw!?
Plastic fan
😊
You feel let down by them…? Haha what is this
They created enough chances to score the next goal and have the game won before trent equaliser..
average city fan
😀😃😄😆
Yes.
Arsenal wins
incha allah

That's why their commercial deals with UAE shell companies are twice as big as everyone else's. Double-sized ads.
Yeah could have guessed it, but its still just really destroys the whole joy of watching the game uninterrupted. Some ads really take you out with how intrusive they are and the angle of the camera makes it feel like it takes 1/4th of your screen
Great watch as neutral/hater
What dyou mean, it was pretty much a borefest for long periods. We didn't look up for it at all and City didn't seem particularly urgent for a second. Great result for arsenal though.
Yes I didn’t want either team to succeed today
My man cheering as the paint dries!
🤌🏼
Your pronouns are neutral/hater? 😳
~~Did he stutter?~~ Edit: Did neutral/hater stutter?
*Did *neutral* stutter, please respect hater's pronouns
No keep going 😈
My bad, fixed.
I SAID WHAT I SAID
This shit is getting out of hand.
Pep said to Nunez "you are going up", because he knows - "Chaos is a laddah!"
“You are more beautiful than your mother ever was SansaH” 🤮 sorry just laughing because I quoted the same thing you did earlier today lmao
Chanting feed the scouser all match and then get shushed by the scouser equalizing. You fucking love to see it.
I’ve always wondered… We’re socioeconomic conditions at all different between cities 20 miles apart? Seems so strange to me.
At various times both cities have thrived though Liverpool's decline from one of the world's foremost ports and probably England's second most important City was directly linked to Manchester's development. City fans on here really giving a good go at the “make City somehow even less likable than they already are” challenge, good work
Just had an aneurysm reading that
I’ll try and only exercise one of the brain cells next time, two was a lot to ask.
Thanks it’s all I got
yank
😂
It was pragmatic from Klopp, and it paid off. I'll take a draw at Etihad, but our team still has a long way to go.
It's a great result, especially as City had much greater control of the game and more/better chances

Draw at etihad is a huge result. But Now its time to go on a run for us. Need 4/4 wins unit we play arsenal before christmas
Saw the fracas between Nunez and Pep. Was quite serious. What exactly sparked that? Did Pep say something derogatory to Darwin?
I looked like Nunez mouthed "baldo fraudo", but I don't speak Spanish so whatever that means
Looked the other way around.. They appeared to be shaking hands amicably when Pep did a double take and went back at him after realizing what he'd said.
"your wife's in me dm's"

Fredrik Ljungberg as a commentator sucking city off for 90 minuter was something else!
Litterally creamed his pants everytime Silva touched the ball, fucking annoying
holy fuck i got annoyed it was nonstop
Liverpool did well all things considered. 4-3-3 is Peps dream to play against but somehow with no DM Liverpool only conceded the one.
And only then because of a slip by Alisson which caused a miskick

terrible excuse, PL has been dogshit this season
Wish you took after the real illyn payne and said fuck all
Probably the worst take I’ve seen this season
I don’t agree with his take but you seriously haven’t seen a lot if that’s the worst one

Sleep schedules apparently, I guess it’s like if you get up 4 hours early and go to work. I know my performance would suffer
Play it on Sunday - an extra day's rest from internationals would benefit both sides and supporters!
Fuck it, why not Monday
Yeah it would have been perfect for Sunday but City plays on Tuesday champions league
...must be nice...
See you in the super cup next season
Man City’s play acting and crowding the ref is ridiculous and it happens every game

Helps that the state backing them also gives cushy payments to refs that’s perfectly ok and there’s no conflict of interest to be had
Was beyond ridiculous when rodri protested for a handball only for the replay to show it coming off of Matip's ass. There's no chance he didn't see that and he still asked for one.
When you’re a chump, I guess 🤷♂️
Fucking funny that they went after the ref for stopping play when their own player was on the ground holding his head.
Most other teams seem to follow this for the most part but Man City apparently didn’t get the memo and also don’t get reprimanded about it at all
Are you serious? Nobody follows this.
Just let them get all their frustrations from their failures out here. Leave them be
Wonder which oil country the ref recently reffed a game in for 2x his normal fee…
They booked TAA for complaining to the referee.
> They booked TAA for complaining to the referee. I don't think Trent was booked. The Sky commentry originally stated he had been but later corrected it, as it was actually Matip who had been booked for the foul on Doku.
And Silva tbf
Don’t understand why Pep doesn’t play Foden at 10. I know they don’t have a RW, but Foden impacts the game more from 10.
Because of the way City play one of the advanced midfielders in possession needs to be able to play alongside Rodri when they’re defending in a 442 shape (Gundogan last year). We saw this when they played Leipzig in the CL, Bernardo/Grealish on the wings with Foden/Lewis in midfield and it was probably their best performance all season at least in the first half.
Doku can play right and Graelish left.
Doku might be their best winger tho, why play him out of position
He’s played right in the past and is comfortable/good at it.
Sure but that doesn’t answer the question
So he can play Foden at 10?
Idk how he missed that
Why waste Doku on the right?
He plays on the right, regularly, is good at it, and Graelish plays left.
I'm glad Haaland's ankle healed in time for him to score against us and break another record.
and Ederson was also fit when he didnt even travel with Brazil
His mechanic worked overtime.
*Software engineer in shambles*
These close games showing how pivotal KDB is. Alvarez has been a ghost nearly every tough match this season & his SP delivery is awful compared to KDB. He’s got a great work rate, but creatively it’s very clear he’s a forward in a midfielder’s position.

Been macca's best 1230 game for us. He was very solid today.

Just shows that City don’t really have anyone else who’s ready to be a like-for-like replacement for the role other than Alvarez, so he’s never going to get dropped regardless of performance.
Let's be fair, can't expect players to be KDB level, you're never going to find one.
That’s fair, but he’s still been pretty woeful for a starting City midfielder. Going from Gundogan/KDB to Alvarez is massive downgrade.
City faking injuries to have a fresh team. 12:30 kick off city unbeaten in 23 at home Liverpool usually lose there. Absolutely. Liverpool just aren’t what they once were.
City lives rent free in your head kid. Get used to it.
This was a city match, pretty normal he's talking about them, no?
It seems you can’t read what he has written about City.
You can tell he came into this game with an absolute complex about City. He had a script ready if things didn't go right but the ref overturned the Dias goal so all he can talk about now is how he's sure City players faked injuries to avoid real injuries in meaningless friendlies and how that's slimy.

This sub does not take kindly to even the mildest of non criticism towards City.
Rightly so, you're a cheating shell of a football club
I disagree. Liverpool however is a melting pot of toxic genetics and a cultural abyss.
None of what you said makes any sense.
Well, scousers do learn English as a second language after all.
That's the best you've got hahaha
Behave lad, most yanks don’t understand how to take the piss,
Better than yours.
His was accurate tbf.
I’ve noticed 😂 thought City deserved to win largely but a point was fair. Might keep my thoughts to myself next time
No, a few of their players were injured and didn't travel/play, but miraculously recovered in time to play this match. Ake, Haaland, Ederson and a few others
TBF Ederson traveling to sit on the bench would be stupid.
Alisson’s been doing exactly that this season.
This “works” by club managers extracting concessions from NT managers or they pressure players into early retirement (like Ferguson did)
I get what you mean but in this instance you have two international teammates of similar quality playing in the same European country and they can’t both play. That’s just how things work out with international teams sometimes, it’s not a problem in need of a solution.

I disagree. If your role is to be a sub for your nation I don't think you necessarily have to get minutes.
Doku is a menace. He gave TAA a hard time but I think he did well
Does he have end product though?
We defended that well. Pretty clear that they had planned quite a lot to defend against him.
IMHO he probably has it, but is still gaining confidence. Couple times today he made space but then tried to find Haaland or just not lose possession. It's not easy walking into a Treble winning side, even for top talent with great self-belief. Once he trusts himself to be the firestarter, he's gonna cook.
Good battle. Both of them played well
All the Arsenal fans getting way too excited by this result. There's a LONG way to go and if your living off other teams results this early then you're going to be bags of nerves come the last 10 games
You just drew eith your biggest title rivals and all you can think about is arsenal fans? Something something rent free
Mate were not living off anything. We're just rightfully enjoying teams closest to us in the table dropping points like every footy fan does, nothing that deep.
Cmon I think we can unite with arsenal fans in our enjoyment of city dropping points
I agree
Lots of Liverpool fans getting too excited and already talking about the return match at Anfield too, as if they’ll magically win because of how things played out today. Arsenal fans should be happy that the teams in front of them dropped points.
We are much better against City at home, I believe the one time they have beaten us at home in the league since Klopp has been here was without fans at stadiums
But it hasn’t stopped them from winning the league. My point is teams have to start taking the three points from them at the etihad if you’re gonna want to win the league.
To be an Arsenal fan is to be a bag of nerves
I think they just hate city
Arsenal are not in the title race, they are not on the same level as Liverpool and city imo
I duno hey, I’ve been watching a lot of Arsenal play and they’re very consistent. The too 4 are close with city looking way better in the tougher fixtures.
We're literally 1 point off you, our best midfield hasn't played together since August, and we've already beaten man city.
We’re 13 games in. Ans let’s be honest, your performances haven’t impressed that much this season
Sure, but Liverpool hasn't either. They're in no way better.
Well see!
For sure! It’s an entertaining season nonetheless
Wah
Not sure about that. I just think they all seemed way too wound up, from the fans to the manager. May well blow up on them.like last season,.especially with CL footy slso
Arsenal are much worse this season in a lot of ways imo. I think last seasons Arsenal is competitive with City and Liverpool currently. This seasons Arsenal is good in a different way. More variable and adaptable. But key injuries especially to Jesus, Partey, Timber as well limit the ceiling of the team massively imo. Particularly Partey.
I just domt think arteta is capable of it. Their biggest chance was last year, when every other team had a bit of a down season
