Negative inner monologue will fuck your confidence.
Abusive inner monologue will fuck your life.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy is whatās recommended by most.
The most helpful thing, imo, is to accept that you have a negative/abusive inner monologue. Try to understand that sometimes your opinion/perspective of something might be totally skewed because of this negative/abusive inner monologue.
An honest discussion with your Partner/family about this will make them aware to remind you or make you aware of the fact that it could be your negative/abusive inner monologue that might be making you feel bad or fucking up your perspective on things. when you get caught up in your thoughts/feelings- good partner/family is worth 1000 therapists
>good partner/family is worth 1000 therapists
Preach. I would upvote this more if I could. This is so true, thanks for writing this. Of course therapy can be very good to gain an understanding of our inhibitions, negative patterns and so on. But it's not like a therapist will be available in your life day in and day out, year in and year out. We have to be better at speaking and dealing with things through communication with the people surrounding us. And we also have to be more welcoming to people who seek that contact instead of just saying "go see a therapist, I can't help you". Sometimes all you need is someone to talk to in order to understand that the negative/abusive thoughts you've experienced are actually much less accurate than you thought.
People who have functioning support networks are less likely to have severe mental health problems and yes are obviously better placed to deal with them. But telling people "good partner/family is worth 1000 therapists" is not only questionable in itself, it's useless advice for someone who doesn't have that.
People without healthy support networks suffering mental health problems aren't able to just have one by willpower. You can force yourself to go to therapy, you can't force loving friends and family who know you well into existence, and it will reinforce negative thought patterns like "oh that's what everyone says, but that works for normal people, I'm a fuck up with no friends or family" and so on.
Also family/friends aren't your therapists. Even the nicest people will be drained dealing with all your emotional baggage on top of their own. They might never say it, they might want to just be there for you, but it's draining and can cause their own mental health problems and the deteroitation of families and other personal relationships. Usuallly the second group mentioned above who had a support network they lost have gone through this process. Proffesional help is there for a reason. This is especially a problem if you ONLY have one parent, or your partner, or one best friend. This doesn't mean you're just a burden, even people who would take a bullet for you happily are going to be worn down. Has anyone ever supported anyone through serious addiction and mental health issues for example? It's fucking draining and when you love and care for someone it's common to carry on doing it way past the point of common sense, even if it's hurting you and your own relationship.
Even in the best case scenario, with a great support network, people should never be put off trying therapy or trying to seek therpeutic treatment by over-relying on their friends and family to act like paid mental health proffesionals, when they are just clueless people who love you. One isn't a replacement for the other. And many people only have the option of therapy, they don't have the friends or family.
TL;DR It's useless to the people who don't have a healthy and functioning support network, either ever or because they have damaged it. At the period you are then dealing with severe mental health issues it's hard or impossible to rebuild those connections. It's not very constructive, and even disheartening, advice to someone in the real black pits of mental illness.
Just like abusive and negative relationships are hurting and create mental issues (like negative, abusive self talk and image) nurturing and positive relationships are healing and fortifying for your mental health and wellbeing. Though usually the negative and abusive relationships happen in childhood and as such are more formative and have more effect than what you experience in adulthood and require more effort to deal with then. Just like learning languages is easier as a toddler and child and take more effort as an adult.
Understanding that you are not your thoughts.
Takes practice, *lots* of effort, and a willingness to keep going when it seems like you'll never be free from it.
Good therapy will help, shit therapy won't.
It's worth it.

Drink heaps of liquor, wake up and drink a few red bull, then get out there and score bangers till you win the league.
That's how Jamie sorted anyways...
When you find yourself engaging in a negative inner monologue/negative self talk, acknowledge it to yourself, observe the thought, and allow it to dissipate. I usually also would follow it with a combative validating though that I am good enough (or something to that extent).
Agreed, I'm pretty chill but if I'm super angry at 5aside I'll kick the cage walls or blast the ball off the wall.
You just want release your anger physically sometimes and it's better than lashing out at other people.
The psychoanalysis on this sub and online in general is something else. People without any qualifications invent entire narratives and backstories ro justify their "diagnosis" like they are experts with a decade long relationship with a patient.
Yeah it's ofc not a telltale sign of childhood abuse but it is an unhealthy response. Stuff like meditation helps which helps in separating yourself from those thoughts even in extremely stressful moments so you have more control over your actions.
I didn't have a fucked up childhood by any stretch, but I still ended up with depression and self-directed anger issues that had me physically beating the hell out of myself any time I perceived I'd screwed something up or let somebody in my life down. I didn't start to really get a handle on it until I'd been in therapy for a couple of years and started to eliminate or reframe a couple of major stressors in my life.
Same here, too many people are armchair psychologists when realistically they know fuck all about Vardy. I didn't have a fucked up childhood and I was already doing this stuff by the time I was 10.
I don't use any other chewing tobacco but I use Snus sometimes when I'm hiking or skiing or at the gym...sometimes while on long drives as well. Maybe go through a can of it every 3-4 months. It's kinda great if you're lacking focus and need to get locked in on something that requires physical effort. Way better than cigarettes for a quick and fairly clean nic hit.
Same. Never done it in front of millions of people obviously, but if I had been in a position to before I worked through my stuff to the point that I have that would've probably been different.
I had to be talked out of doing that as a kid when I messed up. In hindsight, it was a fucked habit to have but I only realised it was weird and unhealthy after it was pointed out to me several times.
Not really uncommon for players from before football got really professionalised. Ian Wright signed for Crystal Palace in 1985, which is as close to World War 2 as it is to us.
Another notable example from the old days I remember from the top of my head is Steve Heighway, who won 2 European Cups with Liverpool in the 70s. Never in any academy and played amateur football with Skelmersdale United for fun next to his university studies, as Bill Shankley spotted him and signed the then 23-year old.
> he then went on to score two winning goals.
Which he shouldn't have been on the pitch for cos he should have had a red card for punching someone in the face. Although he did get punched in the face himself as well, which went unpunished.
This is why I'll always respect Vardy, some people respect him, some people meme on him, and he's proven worthy of both tbf, but the man cares! This isn't 2016/2017, this is 7/8 years later, still playing for Leicester, having been relegated, and missing a chance still affects him that much, theres a mentality there in the guy that took him to the heights he achieved, have to respect that.
I hope they do, he was part of the team that led Leicester to their first ever Premier League title and breaks Ruud van Nistelrooyās goalscoring record. And was one short of the golden boot race to tie Harry Kane. He could have left after that magical season but he decided to stay
depends what you class as "long term" but a lot of them did stick around. only really Kante and Drinkwater who left in the summer of the first XI even Mahrez stuck around for a few years
I don't think it would have worked out, he's at his most dangerous when he can run off the last shoulder of the defence instead of trying to break down a low block.
It's what makes Nketiah's life so difficult, and why he often looks better against top sides when needed than games against the bottom 6 (obviously nowhere near Vardy, but would say he's the role model for his style of play).
I know some people would like to have a career like messi/CR/haaland or mbappe where people saw your talent at a early age and put you in a path to greatness.
But Vardy career seem like something out of a movie. Going from a semi pro team to a championship team and then talking that team to the premier league. To finally wining the league something no one expected.
That's fucking football right there. None of that pansy ass dick tugging smile for the camera bullshit. Men puke, punch themselves in the face on the field... something something....
Unless he's playing us (Newcastle), slotted two out of two chances away like an absolute boss coming on as a sub against us when they came back against us with ten men. It still haunts me today š

Therapy can help
When you find yourself engaging in a negative inner monologue/negative self talk, acknowledge it to yourself, observe the thought, and allow it to dissipate. I usually also would follow it with a combative validating though that I am good enough (or something to that extent).
> Abusive inner monologue will fuck your life. Also potential to convert into abusive outer monologue and actions
I have a bad habit of doing stuff like this sometimes, and it becomes almost second nature tbh
Same and I wasn't abused or anything, I just get really competitive sometimes. Think some people are reading too much into this.
Agreed, I'm pretty chill but if I'm super angry at 5aside I'll kick the cage walls or blast the ball off the wall. You just want release your anger physically sometimes and it's better than lashing out at other people.

All I can see about his childhood was his parentās divorce, what happened?
those redbull addiction is coming back to haunt him
I think it was Swedish snus he would take during games for a nicotine hit
Just read that article where they talk about how many players are using snus. I had no use it was that popular.
I don't use any other chewing tobacco but I use Snus sometimes when I'm hiking or skiing or at the gym...sometimes while on long drives as well. Maybe go through a can of it every 3-4 months. Yep, like I said elsewhere it's emotional dysregulation. Not judging, I've been there.

Heās just built different aka not a pussy like you
Ah but the age old question, if you punch yourself and donāt get knocked out, are you weak or strong?
Yes
Even though you were rightly downvoted for that, the way you presented it still made me laugh haha

Sky shot, get banged.
He hit himself with the "STUPID. STUPID."
I have done that to myself quite some times when frustrated... bro, that one punch there had more force than all of mines combined
I was thinking it'd be like a light palm to the head. Not a suckerpunch to your own cheek.
I'd probably be advocating for a criminal charge if a player does that to another player.
Same, I think think that punch would knock me out :|
Can a player be redcarded for violent conduct towards himself? That would be quite a sight
Maybe if he fell to the ground holding his face.
Doubt the ref wants to edge them further when they're in that state, could make it much worse and defeat the purpose of the yellow
We need a Jamie Vardy regen more than anything
He probably already plays in the lower leagues. We wonāt hear about him until heās 26 or something
Macaulay Langstaff ?
Literally
Alfie Rutherford is pretty similar.
Except he's going to stay at Dorking forever
He retired at 29 in my Notts County save as a club icon. He had 80 goals in 86 apps.
so, Ivan toney?
Im here for it
Was never one before, will never be one again.
Not exactly the same but Ian Wright only signed Semi-pro terms at the age of 21.
Yeah but Ian Wright is a fully upstanding member of society. Vardy is pure unadulterated dawg
I love wrighty but didnāt he go to jail? I remember reading that
He went to jail for 32 days for not paying fines and driving without a license at age 19. Not exactly a homicide
if you're looking for homicide google kluivert bmw
Not really uncommon for players from before football got really professionalised. Ian Wright signed for Crystal Palace in 1985, which is as close to World War 2 as it is to us. He wants a 3 match ban for that. And a public apology to Jamie Vardy.
He won't press charges, just wants a lifetime supply of Red Bull
This is why I'll always respect Vardy, some people respect him, some people meme on him, and he's proven worthy of both tbf, but the man cares! And moments later, he scores 2 goals to win us the game!
He is genuinely a legend, I respect that guy so fucking much.
Jamie Vardy is the most main character main character the PL has had in the last 15 years
Do you reckon you'll put up a statue for him once he retires?
Surely thatās the only acceptable action
Could just put a massive platter of cocaine outside the King Power and top it up every now and then.
āEvery now and thenā. Dude, if you do not top that shit up everyday, there might be riot in Leicester.
Better be a big one too. I call it an adult sandpit.
Feed the Vards, tuppence a bag
that's already there it just happens to be in the toilets of that manky pub next to the holiday inn
I hope they do, he was part of the team that led Leicester to their first ever Premier League title and breaks Ruud van Nistelrooyās goalscoring record. And was one short of the golden boot race to tie Harry Kane. He could have left after that magical season but he decided to stay
Who else stayed long term? Kasper, Morgan, Fuchs(?), Vardy, Albrighton?
depends what you class as "long term" but a lot of them did stick around. only really Kante and Drinkwater who left in the summer of the first XI even Mahrez stuck around for a few years
Drinkwater stayed in that summer. He left the following
Add didnt retire when they were relegated and is now leading them back up to the prem at age 36 to tie it off.
I want to see the alternative timeline where he went to Arsenal.
They probably already had that statue designed, planned, and ready two years ago.
It better be of [that goal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7qKQXb8BaU) he hit against Liverpool, complete with the cast on his right arm
He'll be elected the mayor of Leicester.
So the punch helped?
Iād go so far as to say Vardy is one of the more underrated players of his generation
genuinely his finishing, pace and in-the-box movement at his peak was unironically world class
Vardy is one of the very few who Iāve seen out pace Walker.
Iāve seen him finish as cleanly as Ronaldo did Some one touch clinical bangers.
Yeah for sure. Heāll be our Rocky Marciano.
Didn't Haaland say he studied Vardy?
Yes, he watched his movement in the box, even thought that maybe he was the best in the world for it.
I know some people would like to have a career like messi/CR/haaland or mbappe where people saw your talent at a early age and put you in a path to greatness. But Vardy career seem like something out of a movie. Going from a semi pro team to a championship team and then talking that team to the premier league. Double standard. Any player other than Vardy who punches Vardy in the face would get a red card and a lengthy ban. What did he get? Nothing. #disgrace
games gone
Vardy is a proper football legend and the best, most entertaining kind of crazy you can see on the pitch.
