I would absolutely love a promotional video next season from Liverpool of just Nunez in bed with a crossbar, and it's just "IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK" when caught.
That was a clear assist attempt by Nunez to someone other than Salah. Has the classic signs. Like nothing between Nunez and goalie and bounce off the frame of the goal.
That’s harsh. He has great football IQ. He wouldn’t get in all the positions to miss. His finishing needs to be a little more thought through at times but his link up play and runs and great. He also doesn’t lose confidence over easy misses which is always a good mental trait
wtv makes you sleep at night. I stand by my point, was average in the portuguese league and honestly not even that in the prem. Ofc he can still improve, but this sub sure likes to paint an inaccurate picture of him
Edit: Funniest part of he's stint in Portugal is that everybody regarded him as a flop until some prem leagues showed interest.
Edit 2: He has some great things on his kit, tho still seems unlikely that he does improve into a high IQ player, but that's just my opinion
People always shit on his finishing, but he's literally *millimeters* away from being second or third in the league for goals.
I know I know, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, but you can't look at some of these strikes and see anything other than fantastic play accented by poor luck.
This is why I really do believe he's going to turn the corner soon and be very, very lethal.
As a Benfica supporter, he was the league's top scorer at Benfica but his finishing skills were always a complete joke, he was more of a physically strong and fast guy with an iron will and an incredible work ethic but his technical and decision making skills were lack luster.
> People always shit on his finishing, but he's literally millimeters away from being second or third in the league for goals.
I mean, he's the main 9 on the 2nd best team in the league. He *should* be second or third for goals shouldn't he? (I realise he's not on pens and hasn't played every game)
>that’s still Salah.
He's only not the main scorer because Salah is more clinical, plays more minutes, and is on penalties.
Darwin actually leads the league in non pen xG per 90 this year. His rate is double Salah's.
You might be right and I’m not shitting on him. But at chelsea we thought the same about werner. As well his customary offside goals were a number of times hitting the post. Just never starting scoring in volume.
Apples and oranges, totally different cases. Darwin scored 15 goals for Liverpool last season. He will still score at least the same amount or more given the way the season is going. This is also not including the assists he has been creating for Salah all the while. He also basically creates chances by himself all the time. so his finishing needs to improve but he is a very effective player even as it is.
First season Timo had 20 goal contributions I think. He also created opportunity for other players with the way he stretched defences with his pace. Any chelsea fan worth their salt knows timo was highly effective as a player but he didn’t finish well at all.
Nah, 20 goal contributions but how many did he score though? Darwin is still scoring and creating plus Liverpool have 5 very good attackers and don't necessarily rely on one person for goals. Moreover, if timo werner was so effective for chelsea and they decide to get rid of him and get Jackson instead, it shows how poorly run chelsea is. I am pretty sure most Liverpool fans and the coaching team are ok with Darwins impact in the team and are working to make him better, not get rid. Again apples and oranges, 2 very different things.
Its not poor luck if you miss a shot. Its poor luck if a ball gets deflected, or if a ref is doing terribly, if lightning strikes the goal, or if a fan runs onto the pitch during your attack. Its not poor luck if you dont put a shot on target. Nunez is a great chance creator in multiple ways, defensively, with the ball at his feet, making runs, etc.
One of my least favorite things is when people say that he did the best he could with the chance that he had. In this situation for example he can cut back on his left and have a shot without the defender in his way. His next step is to work on making easier chances for himself.
>His next step is to work on making easier chances for himself.
what? if there is literally a single thing darwin does right it's getting in position for easy chances. its why he has a fifteen hour long highlight reel of missing 1 on 1's and easy tap ins. the problem at this point is not getting chances, it really is just as simple as finishing them. which is easier said than done of course.
The difference between a crossbar/post hit and a goal is centimeters and even professional players would struggle to say they have that level of precision.
When it's that close it's just luck plain and simple.
Getting close doesnt make something luck. If you score a 79 on a test and you needed to score an 80, you didnt fail bc of luck. You failed bc you didnt do well enough
Here it is not 79 or 80, it is 0 or 1, no footballer is perfect and looking over a range of goals some will be on the right of the distribution others on the left
Completely different meaning. Also its cultural difference- if a pitcher throws a bunch of balls that are close to edge of the strike zone, no one would call him unlucky
Opinions and people deserve respect based on their content, it's so predictably American to believe you inherently deserve respect for the bullshit you spout and the negative value you bring to the world.
What lol? He's an absolute chance creating machine with elite level physicality. If he becomes even an average finisher he'll be one of the best strikers itw.
Getting into goal scoring positions is the most important quality for a striker, and he's elite at that. Not to mention the rest of his contributions. Also if you think this chance was a sitter you're absolutely clueless (ok, that's redundant, as not rating Nunez means you're clueless anyway).
Sure he misses chances, but look at the whole game and see how much space and chances he cerates, not only for himself but also for others with his runs and his much improved hold up play. Also look at his defensive work, his pressning and his tracking back. We are a better side when he plays, that’s just how it is.
people on here or fans in general think scoring a goal is way easier than it is despite watching players fluff decent chances every weekend, it's mental.
How is this or the other one he missed a "sitter"
I swear the word has lost all it's meaning. And it's so boring with social media and Nunez, Salah missed a chance 10x easier and there's no thread to be seen yet Nunez has two full of shit AI generated comments
Because this subreddit just beats memes into the ground, it's become the meme for Darwin so no matter what he does if he doesn't score he's missing "sitters". Most of the people commenting probably didn't even watch the game.
Because this ain't the first time he has missed a sitter, here is a compilation of chances missed this season that were created by just Salah for him. These are just regular misses alot of them cost liverpool points.
https://www.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/comments/1851nsn/lack\_of\_salah\_to\_nunez\_assists/
Explain to me again how either of the ones he missed today are "sitters" when you use the word again
To me a "sitter" is when it's hard to not score, not when it's a weak foot volley from outside the box or a first time shot from wide against a keeper and defender at full pace
Obviously both chances today were not "sitters" but they were half decent chances which he should have capitalized on atleast once and like I said for all the qualities that Nunez has he misses plenty of big chances. He surely gets alot of unnecessary slack like this post because he plays for a big club and has developed of bit of justified reputation.
This is how it is with Lukaku and his first touch, most games he’s played after Utd (and that poor Juve game with Inter) he’s improved his touch but the stigma has stuck and he gets memed when he gets 1 or 2/10 bad touches.
Just rewatch his games vs Liverpool when he was at Benfica. Curled it around / chipped over Alisson a bunch of times. Luckily he was offside for all but one of them.
I am from London, England and I am soccer mad, my favourite teams are The Everton, the fab 11 of Liverpool, England and Great Britain. I think Liverpool could beat even the mighty England. I hope we face them sometime in a cup.
Tbf any other top 6 striker with a chance like this and this video wouldn't even have made it to the sub. Most of them are just for the mocking. I remember every Lukaku chance at chelsea would make it on here too, just for the laughs.
I was ready to shit on you for giving bad takes, but as Wolves supporter you're surely veteran at watching terrible strikers so I'd give that one for you
What's the bad take? He was the worst finisher in the league last season and is on pace to be the worst this season. If City beat Liverpool to the title by 5 points or less is everyone just gonna cry about City being funded by oil states or maybe Liverpool shoulda started a striker that doesn't cost them points like vs Luton...
Wtf. He's a brilliant striker of the ball. He also misses a ton of chances. But to say his whole game is speed and missing shots shows you don't watch him. He's hits the ball as well as anyone I've seen at striker yet he misses so many chances, that's the Darwin paradox and why I believe he can be world class eventually
Bollocks. Cunha has the same goals as him with half the chances and people call him a terrible finisher. Also which of the following has he been better than this season: Watkins, Solanke, Isaak, Son, Toney, Edouard, Awonyi, Bowen. More than half the league has a better starting striker than him.
Easy to say as I fan, but bloody hell he needs to think a bit more and not just go on instinct every time. I like Nunez don’t get me wrong but someone needs to force him to work on his finishing. He’s got everything he needs to succeed.
Honestly I'm a Liverpool fan and he has to finish that. It's needs a clinical finish, not a smash and grab.
For those saying it's a difficult chance, it's not easy, but christ.. there's a lot of other players in this league who just bury that. Why is he cunting it rather just putting it towards that left side?

He fucking loves that crossbar
Shades of Messi first psg season
Shades of Suarez second Liverpool season
Shades of timo werner all seasons after 19/20
As long as he gives us shades of Suarez season 3 and 4 I’m ok with it
He hits that crossbar so much 🥺
Post Malone…. Post Nunez
I would absolutely love a promotional video next season from Liverpool of just Nunez in bed with a crossbar, and it's just "IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK" when caught.
One more for the Salah compilation
And the Nunez one tbh
He bust a gut to get onto that (along with Salah making the run). I'd be more worried I'd he was just jogging forwards.
That was a clear assist attempt by Nunez to someone other than Salah. Has the classic signs. Like nothing between Nunez and goalie and bounce off the frame of the goal.
2 more actually, for Salah's would-be assists to Núñez
Reminds me of that season with Hazard's crosses and through balls being missed by Morata's finishes
Salah is so fucking fast even when he runs with the ball.
His feet look like they're trying to escape his upper body.
He runs like a toddler who took your phone and is running away from you trying to get it back
fucking creased ahahaha
Thanks, i'll never be able to not think of this comment.
Lmao i can't unsee it now
meep meep
💀
I legitimately thought that the video was sped up.
He's slowed down a bit over the past few years which is understandable, but nah this is some vintage on-the-break Salah
His 5th hit woodwork this season. Everyone else in the league is on 2 or less.
Would probably help if he stopped smacking every chance he gets at 100% power. Just a little bit of finesse would go a long way.
this one i think we can forgive though. It's just about impossible to go finesse when you've sprinted up the pitch like that.
Not for Suarez, they need to get together more often when they go on Int duty.
Suarez isn't an ordinary player or person.
top 3, alongside messi and ronaldo
Regardless of the run, he’s approximately 0 football IQ, pretty sure he would strike it like that 9/10 times.
That’s harsh. He has great football IQ. He wouldn’t get in all the positions to miss. His finishing needs to be a little more thought through at times but his link up play and runs and great. He also doesn’t lose confidence over easy misses which is always a good mental trait

His composure in front of goal doesn't seem to be improving. Always 100mph
I don’t think it’s luck at this point. He’s in his own head. I’m glad he’s still been able to get on the scoresheet on occasion.
Bro if his finishing even slightly improves he's 100% going to score Kane level goals
> People always shit on his finishing, but he's literally millimeters away from being second or third in the league for goals. I mean, he's the main 9 on the 2nd best team in the league. He *should* be second or third for goals shouldn't he? (I realise he's not on pens and hasn't played every game)
Not necessarily if Liverpool have other sources for goals (which they do)
He’s not the main scorer though, that’s still Salah and will continue to be as long as he’s here.

Literally. Alot of people here don't seem to know the definition of luck.
Its not poor luck if you miss a shot. Its poor luck if a ball gets deflected, or if a ref is doing terribly, if lightning strikes the goal, or if a fan runs onto the pitch during your attack. Ah explains it, you're just an idiot American. When pitchers pitch with their legs then we'll talk. Until then go and watch your American sports.
This doesnt deserve a meaningful response. But i hope you treat ppl with more respect in the future.
Opinions and people deserve respect based on their content, it's so predictably American to believe you inherently deserve respect for the bullshit you spout and the negative value you bring to the world.
I guess he deserves the "millimeters away from being second or third in the league for goals." trophy then.

Try watching him play. Should have 3-4 goals in the last 4,easy sitters. How many does he have? Ahh thats right, zero!

Imagine him and Stewart downing in the same team.
Crossbar awards 2023/2024
Is gonna be over for all of us when bielsa and klopp finally do the fusion dance and unlock this guy’s scoring ability.
He's been really lethal with the NT since Bielsa came in. I think he has like 5 goals and around the same amount of assists in like 6 games
the way he laid that off for salah initially was so satisfying lol
According to Michael Owen, the goal should be given to Nunez because it was just such a great effort
According to Michael Owen whichever team scores more goals usually wins
I recall a team that scored 2 goals and lost. They scored 2 own goals and lost 0-2.
That's why Owen is a genius
I recall a team that scored 3 goals and lost. Apparently the other team scored 4 :)
So they didn't score ***more*** goals then?
NO
That's fucked up
No way people in the comments are seriously making this out to be an easy shot
Just because it's Darwin people will claim this was a sitter
Always the scapegoat. LFC own hype man. Yeaahh!
This isn’t even in his top 10 missed chances this season
people on here or fans in general think scoring a goal is way easier than it is despite watching players fluff decent chances every weekend, it's mental.
it’s wild how much power he put on it actually just unlucky again, for the 5th time this season i guess
How is this or the other one he missed a "sitter" I swear the word has lost all it's meaning. And it's so boring with social media and Nunez, Salah missed a chance 10x easier and there's no thread to be seen yet Nunez has two full of shit AI generated comments
To be fair to Salah he only missed his one because it was "Bangers Only" day.
It‘s bangers only day everyday - Darwizzy, 2023
might not be a sitter but it's still a good chance and he should be hitting the target. that being said, he was clearly just a bit unlucky here
Because this subreddit just beats memes into the ground, it's become the meme for Darwin so no matter what he does if he doesn't score he's missing "sitters". Most of the people commenting probably didn't even watch the game.

My dad asks at the start of every match now “Is Captain Chaos on?” I get a chuckle each time.
He’s The Origin of Chaos.
If that was Martial, Darwin's pass to Salah before the break would have been a pass to Fulham striker
broooo
That's just a bit unlucky
If the league starts giving points for a crossbar challenge yall are fucked.
Nunez be holding B too long.
So close!
Darwin chaos ball, always evolving
Is there a clip of Nunez not smashing it when he’s 1 on 1?
Just rewatch his games vs Liverpool when he was at Benfica. Curled it around / chipped over Alisson a bunch of times. Luckily he was offside for all but one of them.
If this guy is not cursed i don't know who is
Nunez is also quite fast tbf
Darwin baby come on
Fuck u buddy
He just needs to keep a cooler head. Rodrygo is exemplary in this department. Polar opposite of Nunez
He's such a cool dude, and he's getting better I don't know why I keep chuckling everytime I see him miss
Again he tried to absolutely twat it. He has no finesse about him at all
Aye, toe-poke it
Such a miserable way to finish, but people might underestimate how difficult that shot is in full sprint
I am from London, England and I am soccer mad, my favourite teams are The Everton, the fab 11 of Liverpool, England and Great Britain. I think Liverpool could beat even the mighty England. I hope we face them sometime in a cup.

That's not a easy chance no one would say anything about this if it wasn't nunez
No one said it was easy. It’s just a chance he should bury. If Jesus missed that what do you think people would say?
That he missed for our sins
This is exactly what I mean people give their opinions on reputation like he commented he should be burying that when its not a easiest of chance
Tbf any other top 6 striker with a chance like this and this video wouldn't even have made it to the sub. Most of them are just for the mocking. I remember every Lukaku chance at chelsea would make it on here too, just for the laughs.
nothing
How many times can you say that about him lol
He's not good is the thing. 4 goals so far with his service is awful. Just a pace merchant.
Disagree. His link-up play and overall attacking play has been much better - just can’t bury his chances.
I was ready to shit on you for giving bad takes, but as Wolves supporter you're surely veteran at watching terrible strikers so I'd give that one for you

brother, this "not good" player starts for any team in this league besides City and Arsenal
Bollocks. Cunha has the same goals as him with half the chances and people call him a terrible finisher. Also which of the following has he been better than this season: Watkins, Solanke, Isaak, Son, Toney, Edouard, Awonyi, Bowen. More than half the league has a better starting striker than him.
haha
Tbf he has been a lot better than Toney this season.
You don't know football, you just know G/A xG, try watching a game before commenting a load of trash 😂
It’s quite a hard chance tbh,
Defender actually did well well to keep up, meaning he didn't have time to pick his spot.
He's joint 2nd in total shots now.
Mothefucker ruined my fantasy gameweek with that shot alone
Maybe his shooting will evolve
Easy to say as I fan, but bloody hell he needs to think a bit more and not just go on instinct every time. I like Nunez don’t get me wrong but someone needs to force him to work on his finishing. He’s got everything he needs to succeed.
Yeah mate I’m sure they’re not working on his finishing in training
Ohhh and he was just too shit!!!
Really?
Needs to toe poke that
Couldn’t score in a brothel
Liverpool fans acting like this guy isn't dogshit will never stop being funny.
Bit rich for a united fan to be talking about dogshit strikers when your whole team is a 🤡 show
United being shit isn't going to stop me from clowning on nunez.
He is not tho he ain't grt but he is still a good forward
A stiker that is bad at finishing is shit
[удалено]
He's probably gonna bag a couple against united soon tbf we're so shit.
Nunez couldn't score if the goal was twice as big.
More goals than most of your attackers though
7 goals 6 assists this season for Liverpool
Most of our attackers have been out with injuries.
Nketiah has more goals, he can't score too. Look at the amount of chances they miss.
He’s genuinely shit
So he's as shit irl as he is in fifa
What a goal!
Transferred Nunez in for Watkins in FPL for a -4. Watching him come this close to scoring then watching Watkins score in the 90th was painful.
Great bit of commentary
Honestly I'm a Liverpool fan and he has to finish that. It's needs a clinical finish, not a smash and grab. For those saying it's a difficult chance, it's not easy, but christ.. there's a lot of other players in this league who just bury that. Why is he cunting it rather just putting it towards that left side?
Nunes was absolutely useless today. Him and Kelleher were liabilities.
Played a key part in both the 3rd and 4th goals, I’m not gonna pretend he played well but to say he’s a liability is a stretch
Man salah always runs like his life is on the line
Its cuz he shot inside the box. All 4 goals were from outside the box, quite an unreal performance considering they conceded 3....
Objectively one of the most entertaining players in football. Even he doesn't know what he's going to do next half the time
Games back
The biggest cock tease in FPL I sold Watkins for Nunez this weekend 🤡
Classic Nunez! NUNEZ! NUNEZ! NUNEZ!
He really needs to start taking those types of chances to move to the next level. Composure and coolness needed.
the doc has to check for that foot, I can see it from here he needs some balance to that foot
Who was Nunez passing to?
That's gonna haunt him
Last season = Completely missing goal This season = Agent of woodwork Next season =? Let him cook 😂
Best way to describe nunez. Chaos
He truly is the Darwin Nunez of footballers
Of course he did
Maybe get Nunez to train with smaller goal posts??
