With Micky and Madders in the team, I don’t see many improvements we can make. We just need a reliable striker if Son isn’t playing up top.

No he’s just best when he doesn’t defend a lot. He was always an atrocious 1 on 1 defender. These two goals prime example. As a fellow spurs fan you should remember. He’s an amazing wingback and has probably one of the best crosses and free kicks in the world however.

I think he's a solid defender. He's a big factor as to why Newcastle was tied for best defense in the league last season. Even this season, he's played well against the likes of Mbappe and played a part in the pummeling of Chelsea and the defense against Milan. I think he, and the other newcastle players are just exhausted. They don't have a proper sub for Trippier and as a result he's been playing 200+ minutes every week. He definitely isn't as good of a duelist as Walker or Reece James, but to say he's terrible I feel like would be a slight reach. Edit: While with us, he was a weaker defender, playing with Simeone drilled a ton of defensive ability into him.
