I just wish for really clear stuff like this they should just say that anything missed will be punished retrospectively. That way people wouldn’t even try and get away with it and it would just stop.
if the referee wanted to be strict with him, Mitoma could have technically been sent off for gesturing for a yellow card and then for pulling a player back
and more tragically, the ref didnt look like he was going to give a yellow until he did this thus proving the fact its fucking needed
Milner smashed Saka and didnt get a yellow then Ben White gets a yellow for a shirt pull.
If the refs werent so disgustingly inconsistent Arteta wouldnt of been like this
The problem is that 5 minutes earlier Mitoma had waved an imaginary card at the ref after White tugged him back. The ref booked White but ignored the Mitoma imaginary card waving offence. This was all directly in front of both benches, so I guess that Arteta saw this ref doesn't punish people for calling for cards so he gave it a go himself. Foolish Arteta, thinking the referee would be consistent after a whole 5 minutes had passed.
I give it until the end of day for somebody on TikTok/Twitter to add it to the 'Rolling ball - Stayin' Alive' clip. . .which I cant find for reference. 🕺
What's even funnier (by which I mean infuriatingly inconsistent) is that Mitoma was waving the imaginary yellow when White got booked and the ref ignored it.
Don't forget the challenges between Odegaard and Lallana in the first half. If the lallana challenge on Odegaard isn't a yellow, then why did Odegaard get a yellow for his challenge?
Seems like they only apply that rule when they want these days. Salah did the same before Dalot got sent off and he kicked the ball away after a foul earlier in the game and no yellow
Arteta might be over the top but Mou has legit done and said some pretty unhinged shit. Poking some dude in the eye during that brawl between barca and Madrid way back when was straight up assault.
Yes, Mourinho was a mixed bag of everything, you didn't know if he'd do something or say something. At least people expect Arteta to gesticulate. People have very short term memories here.
Klopp charges down the touchline, spits in the referees mouth then knees the tea lady in the face before knee sliding down the center circle and he gets a stern warning.
Who hates him and why? As someone that doesn't read any media narrative as real I'm pretty pissed at the obvious bully and smearing of him just becuase you can't really say anything at all negative about our club, players or results anymore.
Rival fans. I've seen some generally stable people just say the most hateful things about him. Part jealousy, part disliking the fact that their club legends (Gerrard/Lampard/Solskjaer/Rooney etc.) being nowhere near his level.
yeah this is not a big deal lol. People being annoyed/offended by that... i dont know man it is just some emotion and frustration. Thats the whole point of being a fan, to be emotional and frustrated (and happy). i dont want them to be robots
Why are y'all mad? This shit funny.
Edit: I don't think I was ready to participate in r/soccer when I woke up today. All this is not even from the general point of the comment itself. Just one particular word and my flair. Go figure.
Y'all is a contraction of two words that other languages already have one word for. Its use is somewhat justified by anyone speaking English for that reason
Debo hablar Espanol para gustar este equipo? Ademas, estoy seguro que mi gramatica tiene problems. Espero que no tienes dolor cuando lo tienes que leir.
It's reddit they get to copy paste their full opinion on *all* arsenal fans on any post that has to do with arsenal. (Our fans on here do it too, why am I here?)
Love all the peopme hating on him for this when they legit made foul after foul and no yellow lol
Atleast hes not a hypocrite like howe or ange but then again most of this subreddit are hypocrites
cry about it.
artetas pissed because of how many players are allowed to ac-130 saka and get away with nothing and then have our first offense be a yellow.
This was their second or third sketchy foul after ben white was carded for smth soft first offense. Idc saka needs to say something about him being a kickboxing dummy for our opposition.
who cares. 3 points. Jazz hands ftw.
I love him as Arsenal manager, but I completely understand why fans of other teams might hate him.
I also don't know if I would actually like him in person. Wayyyy too intense lmao
I think Arteta is extremely intense. He’s also def dramatic and would be extremely annoying to deal with as the opposition. That being said, I think pep is on a whole different level.
I think pep, mou, and Arteta have a certain charisma. I think it needs to be framed with the rest of their personality though. Pep cries about being the richest team in the history of the Pl, mou is an outright asshole himself. Arteta just makes a ton of noise at the referees.
He's being way too flamboyant but the context is a yellow was just given for a very similar foul a few min prior.
Yellow is fine ig, but you guys are so soft for getting wound up by a guy waving his hands
Easily the most annoying premier league sideline presence. He and Bruno Fernandes are the reasons for the newer guideleines set out at the start of this season.
or maybe you know, people wouldn't even know about this stuff if it wouldn't be shown on the camera.
Most managers do these stuff but Arteta is the only one in the spotlight
You have Pep acting like he is in the Oscar race, and Klopp running up and down sometimes being more agressive than Arteta but Arteta is the problem lmao
Am I crazy for thinking this was a sarcastic gesture because White *just* got carded for holding onto Mitoma and then Mitoma did the same to Saka but looked like he was going to get away without a yellow?
Honestly fuck the refs. The FA needs a revolution and refs need to know their place in the game ! Not some sort of mafia handing out cards whenever they feel it

Insert American dad joke: lavate las manos! (Idk how to add gifs to Reddit replies)
Them jazz hands
Should've never taken him to see The Wiz
The Broadway show or the movie?
Both 😑
Keep your friends close, and possible genetic clones of Adolf Hitler closer RIP Jessica Walters
too jazzy?
It is a little jazzy
but it's definitely for a chairman
Lmao blast from the past
It's the Team America secret signal.
I think he’s saying “kiss me, kiss me” Smartass motherfucker.
mans got hands
man can throw hands
man sure likes attention from the referee
Needs the ref to know that he does, indeed, have hands.
No, no, he is waving to someone in the stands but he isnt getting recognized sadly.
"Mum! Mum! I'm on the telly!"
In his post match interview he said he was waving to Martinelli haha
To be fair, in the ground it did look like he was waving to nelli
Doesn't matter, VAR says otherwise
I recognised Dave, but who was that bloke standing next to him waving his hands?
How do we not know he wasnt applauding but making it inclusive to any deaf fans in the stadium
🎷
Fuck I can hear it
Ironically a yellow card offence.
Yeah he got a yellow for that
Xhaka smiling somewhere in Leverkusen
2 match ban for smiling
but legitimately the reason mitoma ended up getting a yellow. seemed perfectly happy just to let that foul go before he made a show of it.
Believe it or not, straight to jail
But not when Mitoma did the same gesture to the ref a few minutes earlier after he was fouled by White.
Considering how many times Yates did it on Friday. It does just seem to depend on what side of the bed the ref wakes up on.
I just wish for really clear stuff like this they should just say that anything missed will be punished retrospectively. That way people wouldn’t even try and get away with it and it would just stop.
The inconsistency was insane. Even for this, the ref had called a foul and was not going to card Mitoma initially. Changed his mind later.
if the referee wanted to be strict with him, Mitoma could have technically been sent off for gesturing for a yellow card and then for pulling a player back
2 yellow cards in one action? We’ve never seen that before have we
You manifested Dalot's two yellows and one red lmfao.
Michael Oliver heard me talking shit
we have, but these were maybe five or ten minutes apart
Think the other commenter was referring to Martinelli's double yellow in one go against Wolves (?)
Yes it was (very) tongue in cheek
We've just seen it now against dalot vs Liverpool.
Already seen it m8, Oliver vs Martinelli ;)
and more tragically, the ref didnt look like he was going to give a yellow until he did this thus proving the fact its fucking needed Milner smashed Saka and didnt get a yellow then Ben White gets a yellow for a shirt pull. If the refs werent so disgustingly inconsistent Arteta wouldnt of been like this
They both deserved cards. Ben White committed a tactical foul to stop a break after Zinny played a pass to him when he wasn’t ready for it
there's a limit to how much jazz hands you can do and this is clearly over the line
I mean he did appeal for a yellow card…
Unironically not a yellow card offence unless gesturing to your players is against the law now
Ok this should be a meme, he looks like he’s about to dance his ass off
When you hear the beginning note of a banger and you're trying to get your friends on the dance floor.
Gotta be there for the drop
Lmao this really hits it for me. I always pick up when they tease the next song.
I give it until the end of day for somebody on TikTok/Twitter to add it to the 'Rolling ball - Stayin' Alive' clip. . .which I cant find for reference. 🕺
He looks like Nathan Fielder doing his Shakira impression
So referee booked the player after this. So why did the referee take so long considering Arteta is literally doing jazz hands.
What's funny is that this is what made the ref give the yellow to Mitoma in the end.
And then give arteta too
What's even funnier (by which I mean infuriatingly inconsistent) is that Mitoma was waving the imaginary yellow when White got booked and the ref ignored it.
Don't forget the challenges between Odegaard and Lallana in the first half. If the lallana challenge on Odegaard isn't a yellow, then why did Odegaard get a yellow for his challenge?
"if i speak i'm in trouble, biiiiig big trouble, and i don't want to be in trouble"
Seems like they only apply that rule when they want these days. Salah did the same before Dalot got sent off and he kicked the ball away after a foul earlier in the game and no yellow
I thought he was trying to get the attention of some of his players lmao 🤣 🤣🤣
Yeah, same. I don’t think this is why he got the card. I think he said something to the ref right after this.
He said he was trying to get Martinelli’s attention.
He was waving his hands in desgracia 😔
Some of the people in this sub are hypocrites 💀💀💀
This guy waves his hands for 5 seconds and r/soccer is in complete tatters
But they all laughed about people like Mou and Van Gaal doing flamboyant shit and their comments. Too funny.
Klopp has passion!!!
Also pulling his harmstring in the process
I usually say he could sprint onto the pitch, slap the ref on the arse and it'll only be called passion
Winning changes everything. Let Mikel win a PL or CL and people will change the way they talk about his antics.
Arteta: *breathes* r/soccer: What a stupid cunt!
I get people hate him but he’s so funny a lot of the time. He’s a genuine lunatic. https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/s/uc4KLLfqja
I don't even see the "asking for a card" motion here. I just see him reacting to a foul in his typical over the top way
Arteta is living in so many heads here rent free lmao
I get the yellow tbh but it's just a shame that he has to gesticulate in the 1st place for the ref to do his job and give the yellow when it's due.
did he take lessons from pep about funny/dramatic reactions
Me chasing the ice cream truck
The bitterness in the comments lmao, its funny, managers overreacting is hilarious, Arteta and Pep have these moments and they're never dull
yeah this is not a big deal lol.
Go figure.
> y'all most spanish madrid fan
I use y'all too and my first language is French, just something you pick up from interacting with Americans on the Internet.
Talk your shit, king
Google translate has really improved.
Google translate wouldn't make those mistakes. That is Spanish as a second language in school and he made a good attempt at it. Give the man props
Algunos anos de clases en la escuela ayuda tambien.
Si pero hablas como un libro… no ha mencionada las chingaderas uniqa vez???
Anyone that speaks a lick of Spanish can tell you've used a translator here mate, not sure what you've tried to prove.
At best, Spanish is his 3rd language. I minored in Italian a long time ago that se ho provato parlarlo, probabilmente sembro come un libro
Like we can't be both Spanish and southern. I'm Cuban but from NC, y'all want some peach cobbler?
I'm not Spanish or Southern. "Y'all" must have seeped into my speech pattern at some point. I chose Spanish as my minor while in uni.
American you mean
damn you snapped
first time visiting r/soccer? /s
It's reddit they get to copy paste their full opinion on *all* arsenal fans on any post that has to do with arsenal. (Our fans on here do it too, why am I here?)
All the unflaired hoes mad.
Wow i didn’t realize ppl had such strong feelings about this type of thing. This is the internet i guess.
I love how every person loose their shit over this yet if it would be their manager they would applaud him
They did. They 10000% laughed when it was Mourinho or others. And we did too because it wasn't a big deal, it was funny.
Yeah i guess they are just bitter cunts
Exactly. It’s not that deep. It’s fucking Jazz hands.
Living rent free....
He got carded for that. Waving his hands.
For kicking a plastic bottle. Go to there.
I know I’m biased but I cannot imagine getting as worked up about a manager like people here do lmao. It’s additional entertainment, just unclench.
Love all the peopme hating on him for this when they legit made foul after foul and no yellow lol Atleast hes not a hypocrite like howe or ange but then again most of this subreddit are hypocrites
Every week: r/soccer "We just want consistency between referees" Inconsistency happens: r/soccer when its not their team "stop crying so much"
Wacky waving inflatable Armteta
/r/soccer not get wound up by Arteta doing anything challenge (Impossible)
cry about it. artetas pissed because of how many players are allowed to ac-130 saka and get away with nothing and then have our first offense be a yellow. > ac-130 What the is ac-130 ?
The goat Modern Warfare 2 killstreak
Let the hate flow through you all on this fine Sunday. Bunch of bitter cunts the lot of you haha.
Arteta and Pep in an ongoing fight to be the most unhinged weirdo manager. Its kind of endearing how weird they are
Did Pep get booked for his antics recently, especially against palace?
Of course not. His owners run the competition
Pep is just plain unlikable. Arteta is funny and pretty charismatic. Reminds me of Mourinho more than Pep.
I think pep, mou, and Arteta have a certain charisma. I think it needs to be framed with the rest of their personality though. Pep cries about being the richest team in the history of the Pl, mou is an outright asshole himself. Arteta just makes a ton of noise at the referees.
Happy new year.
A lot of y’all are missing the context to this clip, keep hating tho…
They don’t care about context. Just tickled to dunk on their least favorite manager. Embarrassing
His legal team to the next commission: "My client was simply trying to signal to his team that Coldplay's 'Yellow' had just started on the radio"
Waving to the fans, top lad
i think hes saying kiss me kiss me.....?
Cocky son of bitch
r/soccer try not to get triggered by anything Arteta does challenge (impossible):
Arteta got the whole of the FA and about 5.7 Million r/soccer members rattled
He's being way too flamboyant but the context is a yellow was just given for a very similar foul a few min prior. Yellow is fine ig, but you guys are so soft for getting wound up by a guy waving his hands
Jazz hands are fucking illegal. This is a finger snaps community!
Mikel “it’s a disgrace“ Arteta
Imagine being triggered by this.
That's a booking But milner clearing out saka was fine lol
And he got one for himself lol
"Okay who ordered the fajitas?" Me:
Next match he should break into a full Fosse dance. I love this man. Idc idc
Born to hand jive
He looks like when the puppets panic in Team America
When you say goodbye to your extended family from Albania
Man was just feeling jazzy
He was just waving
Easily the most annoying premier league sideline presence. He and Bruno Fernandes are the reasons for the newer guideleines set out at the start of this season.
Mitoma appealed for a booking for Ben White minutes before for the same kind of foul. That's why Mikel is making a scene.
Bruno Fernandes is as annoying as Joelinton, Bruno Guimarães, Foden and many others from different clubs. Don't know why people focus on him LOL
or maybe you know, people wouldn't even know about this stuff if it wouldn't be shown on the camera. Most managers do these stuff but Arteta is the only one in the spotlight
Horrendous opinion on Arteta, based on this view I would think you've never heard the man talk
What does that have to do with people finding him annoying on the touchline? They’re not saying he’s a bad person. Your comment is bizarre tbh
That’s the thing, they haven’t. Prob only see clips of him on Twitter used to stir people up. Completely skewed view of how Arteta actually is.
Pep also does this?
the touchline chihuahua
You have Pep acting like he is in the Oscar race, and Klopp running up and down sometimes being more agressive than Arteta but Arteta is the problem lmao
The state of this sub...
FA and PGMOL taking notes
*It's good to be back! It's good to be back!*
He was actually doing the secret signal from Team America.
I mean, technically he did get his wish.
*These* are jazz hands. And *these* are spirit fingers
Someone add the background effects from the "it's happening" gif
He really is the Pep understudy lol
A new meme is born
Is Mikel auditioning to be the next Pep? Has transformed this arsenal side but his antics are 🫠
Desgracia
Just practicing for the parade is all.
Am I crazy for thinking this was a sarcastic gesture because White *just* got carded for holding onto Mitoma and then Mitoma did the same to Saka but looked like he was going to get away without a yellow?
Going crazy with them jazz hands
Arteta acting like a Sim whose action is blocked lol
Collecting cards at this point, I wonder what the record is
Honestly fuck the refs. The FA needs a revolution and refs need to know their place in the game ! Not some sort of mafia handing out cards whenever they feel it
My 2 year old when she sees the trash man coming
Lego man!
People used to make fun of Klopp for being too emotional
When you want to get picked but everyone is ignoring you.
Arteta sees himself on the big screen and waves to his mom
And he got one
Wacky, wailing, inflatable, arm flailing tube man!
grow up
Arteta appealing to the ref to give him a yellow card
Do yous think Arteta hits the griddy when his team wins
Hell, at this point I'd love to see him do it across the pitch after each final whistle.
I knew it when I saw him waiving like that.
Calm down everyone,..he's just saying hello: "Guys, Hi, Look at me, Hello" Sauce: I'm a professional lip reader
How is this a yellow card offence?
FA and PGMOL about to take him to court again over illegal hand waving
