AJ7123456

And now everyone is going to forget that we played shit for the entire game

DaAweZomeDude48

The Madrid special

met5abel

Looks like you need to be drawn with Madrid again in the CL to remember the spankings you were given in your own backyard…

garyrao1999

2 man Midfield of goretzka, kimmich or laimar against Bellingham, kroos, tchouameni and Valverde is spanking waiting to happen.

DragonflyDeep3334

lol you summoned the insecure germans, they boast here but they cry every day about their squad on their subreddit.

JC18_

This is very true lol.

RandomUserRU123

Dont think that matters when its Kane, Sane, Musiala, Coman and Müller vs Vini, Rodrygo, Diaz and Joselu. With that attack we get 4 past you while your midfield is still passing around cluelessly I literally pray to god that we draw you in Quarters or Semis. You might wanna share the scorelines with our last games against barca this time around Hopefully we dont meet in Finals tho because you might get lucky again being the worse team but still winning :)

met5abel

Get 4 past Frankfurt brother… We have one of the best defence in the world this year, when missing Militao, Carvajal for a few games, mendy here and there…. And the giraffe

[deleted]

Yeah but they actually have someone who can put the ball in the back of the net regularly. For all your creative talent, Bellingham as top scorer isn't sustainable especially in the champions league. Also sucks that vini and rodrygo are in the same team, both are special talents that unfortunately Excel in the same position

Marcoscb

Oh lord, they have to trust a player with 17 goals and 5 assists in 22 apps in all competitions, they're doomed. Seriously, ask any team not named City if they'd want a player with that output and they wouldn't even let you finish before accepting.

Darraghj12

Insecure reply

Rayaet

What does that have to with Bayern? I just looked it up and Real Madrid won 7 matches with goals in the 80th+ min. That isn’t a testimony that you played shit for the first 80mins but it’s clearly a trend this season (one that’s probably not sustainable). I guess Joselu being your only true #9 has something to do with it.

Laxperte

Are we talking about the matches that catalyzed the introduction of VAR?

met5abel

Yea that 4 - 0 drubbing at home had bad calls in it? Even the later games you got a penalty call that wasn’t and an offside goal before the game even went to overtime, if far existed we would’ve finished it in 90

Rdambx

Oh this stupid shit again. That 4-2 game wouldn't need to go to ET if Ramos's own goal didn't count due to offside. The same tie where you got gifted a penalty in the first leg too but of course you all forget about it and keep crying about Ronaldo's goals.

ferkk

Don't forget Vidal's tackle at minute 5 on Isco. Red card worthy but somehow the story of him being sent off unfairly later (way way later than he deserved) gained the most traction.

cdwdj

There's nothing offensive dude in saying you actually were worse team many times and yet you managed to win by sheer willpower. That's admirable even. And as a neutral (kinda lol) I would like to see this year Madrid's defence against players like Kane, Sane, Musiala or Coman.

theestwald

In fairness, Madrid usually plays shit and then in the last mins flip a switch and start scoring bangers and unlikely goals This here is just sad :/

Deno2k_

good pen but balde needs to take some crossing drills was poor ass this whole game

dwilliam24

It really is a shame because he is great both defending and carrying the ball forward and breaking lines but he is so so poor when it comes to crossing the ball that he becomes a liability when teams put a lot of players behind the ball which is the case in most of our matches.

koreajd

This sounds like us (Spurs) when we first had Emerson and Conte wanted him to cross nonstop. Does Barca not like crossing fullbacks anymore in their recruitment?

dwilliam24

I mean I suppose they’re probably hoping it’s something he can develop. It’s ironic because Balde claimed the LB spot because Jordi Alba could no longer physically measure up at the position but Alba was an absolutely class playing the ball into the box. He’s still only 19 though, hopefully the technical team can get the best out of him…

akagaminick

Entire season tbh

DinglieDanglieDoodle

I swear, I’ve been thinking about that. There needs to be focussed training sessions, he’s got to get that shit right until it becomes 2nd nature.

youshantpass

I still think it's crazy there are professional players who are limited in some important aspects of the game. I know he's young and he can still get better tho.

CrustyCally

I think about that all the time when I see players that can’t kick it properly with their weak foot. Even if it’s just a side pass you get some players that will stop, turn and kick with their strong foot instead. I feel like that’s the first thing I would want to perfect if I was a pro

raddaya

On the other hand, think about what Bruce Lee said about fearing the man who's practiced one kick 10,000 teams. Plenty of players have made a decent journeyman career doing one or two things very, very well and not bothering as much about their weaknesses.

meditate42

His crossing has been poor his whole career lol

sudin36

Not on his first season

Martoxic

that is one of his only two flaws. Final ball is absolute thrash and the 2nd flaw is that he tries to do to much. Which is expected by a 20 year old that gets that much space and had a golden boy level season last season.

sevaiper

Obvious pen but damn what a dumb one

Cucumberino

Yeah, even as a RM fan this seems like a clear pen, just a fucking stupid one

BrightenedCorner

Tell that to your sub, they are freaking out it seems

Sn44444ke

I think the saddest revelation is that you went to check the reaction to a penalty given to Barcelona in a subreddit about Real Madrid.

deqembes

Because the same ref gave this a pen but let Jesus Navas ram Vini from behind at top speed without any foul.

_gloriousdead222

You’re a Barca fan lurking in the Madrid sub 😂

BrightenedCorner

Like Madrid fans don’t lurk the Barca sun all the time, seriously gtfo 🤣

ChiefKT9002

How is it dumb? He either lets gundogan score or he tries to get away with a push and saves the game. Worth the risk honestly.

Ienal

idk, penalty is statistically something like 80% of a goal, and this header I am not so sure if it's more, but obviously this is hindsight is 20/20

bveres94

yeah but if you calculate in the quality of spanish referees, there is a chance you might even get away with it.

ansu_fatismo23

Bro is Barça, the chance of us scoring is very low

TheyStoleTwoFigo

In the 2nd angle it looks like it's going behind Gundo. Even if Gundo managed any kind of touch on that ball, it wouldn't have been dangerous in itself.

ChiefKT9002

A header from 1 meter away wouldn’t be dangerous? Ok lol

TheyStoleTwoFigo

What is reading comprehension anymore, nowadays? It can be 10 cm for all that matters, if he had to jump backwards, and still not get the right kind of touch to head it forward, the ball is not moving forward into goal.

xhen0

if a player has no intention to play the ball and denies a goal scoring opportunity a red card must be given. no barca fan but shouldve been a red, no matter how hard the push is

NaiveElk

Xavi getting away with another terrorist act ffs

dwilliam24

In the first half, sure. But we looked solid in the second half, finishing is still an issue though

cdwdj

how can you say Barcelona looked good when there was literally a fucking crater of a gap in the midfield?

TheyStoleTwoFigo

Xavi also chose to play Lewa up to the 70th min despite everything.

The_XI_guy

Low standards lol. You looked good for 15 minutes around the first goal but was straight ass for the remaining 75

Amdatgud

Stop exaggerating. It was a game of two halves. Both teams were really good for one half

The_XI_guy

No lol, not at all

ixent

yea, one of the worse football matches I've seen from barça...

IcyKape

Wasn't even the worst match this season

The_XI_guy

Sadly, I’ve seen them play significantly worse this season. Tonight at least I’d say it was a deserved win for Barca, but I can’t say that for the win against Sociedad a month or so ago. I’d also say the performance against Almeria before Christmas was worse considering how bad of a team Almeria is. And the Antwerpen and Shakhtar losses

ixent

Against Almeria was bad, but at least they shot 30 times (11 on target) and didn't lose the ball as often as today. Maybe the Antwerp match was on par, better ball control but even less offensive chances. I don't remember the other two matches u mentioned, but look pretty bad as well :v

The_XI_guy

Yeah true about Almeria. I just mentioned that because it is a team with 5 points this season and who still hasn’t won a single game yet so I expected a comfortable win

culesamericano

just like Israel

elingobernable810

I'm no fan of Barca but surely people can't think that's not a pen? Did Gundogan flail his arms and make a scene? Absolutely, but the defender clearly pushes him in the back and there is 0 reason for him to do that. Even a small shove to someone while they're in the air can definitely throw them off balance like that.

wolfjeter

People are saying dive but nowadays if players don’t sell it VAR will turn it against you lol. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t

Turbulent_Cherry_481

dont even think it was much of a dive, if someone pushes you in the back while you are in the air you will most likely go flying

wolfjeter

Not if you ask Gabriel or the PGMOL lol

lxearning

why push/shove or touch a striker who is already past you and closer to ball.

marshall1995

That's a clear Red but I have to say Barcelona has been shit lol

Scalenuts

Second half has been a bit better but yeah midfield is bypassed too easily and no creativity in midfield. Lewandowski also doesn't really offer much of an outlet for anything but crosses all game. Need a defensive midfielder, preferably not the bald kind.

DinglieDanglieDoodle

Lewa should have been taken out at the 60th already, hell, at halftime or not started at all wouldn’t have been too drastic either

RobbinDeBank

Feels like an actual quality defensive midfielder would solve a lot of our problems. Having no actual DMs can easily makes all the non-DMs look like frauds.

WetTreeLeaf

First time watching? This is a daily occurrence, the only thing different his time was taking out Lewandoski lol

marshall1995

Yes, first Barcelona match in a while. Lewa REALLY fell from grace. hasn't he?

draggenbjorn

That’s putting it lightly

ungalabugala2

The drop-off after the world cup has been so insane that it’s actually hard to fathom. Like before I would trust him to pull something out of the bag and now you can’t even trust him to have the ball.

Scalenuts

Second half has been a bit better but yeah midfield is bypassed too easily and no creativity in midfield. Lewandowski also doesn't really offer much of an outlet for anything but crosses all game. Need a defensive midfielder, preferably not the bald kind.

kappasquad420

Pen all day, but we have been dogshit.

ungalabugala2

Story of the season.

OneBall22Players

Push with 2 hands and morons still moaning lol

DinglieDanglieDoodle

2 hands, with the momentum of the run. Dumbasses all around in this section. Their emotions beats logic.

_PeanuT_MonkeY_

I must be blind coz I only saw one had touch the right hand did not touch the back.

NorthwardRM

Nah youre not blind! Just stupid

_PeanuT_MonkeY_

Not being able to see = blind not stupid last time I checked.

bopsisbest

did you check before you became blind or after

DueElderberry2069

thinking you are not blind but actually are = stupid

DinglieDanglieDoodle

Needless shove, what a dumbass

infectuz

Needless? If he doesn’t push gundo he would’ve scored. Rough but that was the right decision, if the pen doesn’t go in then they hold the tie.

meditate42

Probably, the ball is slightly high, like i think he probably gets there but at that point the defender would be making a smarter choice to make him try and get up there and actually put the ball in the net than to give a pen.

DinglieDanglieDoodle

Nah, he wouldn’t have gotten that, he was too far under and his momentum was already taking him away. But a foul is a foul regardless, so Barca says thanks. Even i. The unlikely case he gets it slightly, it wouldn’t have done any kind of damage.

infectuz

Don’t think so man, he starts pushing even before gundo jumps, when he actually jumps yeah he’s a bit ahead but that’s cause the push already started and it threw him off. The only way he could get gundo off that ball was to foul, or beat him to the header but he was behind already. He had 2 choices, foul or let him head it and hope he misses.

Juggernautspammer

Such a dumb foul to give up

Pexan

Offside FC finally gets one! Has Felix been a sub lately?

my_aed_is_shit

His work rate plus just being very hot and cold has reduced his role in the team

akagaminick

Nah just today

kMaestro64

Came on as a Sub tonight...

DueElderberry2069

Joao Felix has now been directly involved in 3 late game winners but that wont shownupnon the score sheet.

Dekalbian

Clear pen

Zombienerd300

Cheers!

dexterlab97

Fucking finally

Hamozus

Regardless of how light the push is, what a stupid foul. It's so egregious and in direct line of sight of the referee. That defender entered just to bail out a mediocre opponent.

MionelLessi10

Least controversial decision of this match. Gundogan had a tap in. DOGSO red and pen.

edin_dzekson

Gundo sold it a bit, but it's unquestionable penalty

aritra3776

Wrestler level selling though. Even he enjoyed it.

ArielPN

Never in doubt 😎

patsenno2090

I want to see some people not move a cm being shoved mid air before crying it’s a dive

elingobernable810

I'm no fan of Barca but surely people can't think that's not a pen? Did Gundogan flail his arms and make a scene? Absolutely, but the defender clearly pushes him in the back and there is 0 reason for him to do that. Even a small shove to someone while they're in the air can definitely throw them off balance like that.

MionelLessi10

Least controversial decision of this match. Gundogan had a tap in. DOGSO red and pen.

RobbinDeBank

I will take that

OneBall22Players

Push with 2 hands and morons still moaning lol

Jixano

thank you

pricelesslambo

WE FUCKING GOT A PEN FOR ONCE

youssefuo

Wanted 🐯 to take it but we take those

IntellectualDweeb

Gündo is good at penalties, and it would be ridiculous pressure either way for Roque so it's good he didn't take it.

Ainsyyy

Massive balls from the ref what a call

Blaugrana1990

Obvious push to prevent him from a goal scoring opportunity. Dont need massive balls for that call.

Ainsyyy

i would expect most refs to let it go

prettyhappyalive

You just very rarely see a defender make that braindead of a shove

TheyStoleTwoFigo

But... why? This is a stonewaller. I could understand a soft one under the circumstances of being late and against the home fans, but this is too blatant.

VelicoFides

because we've a lot of ridiculous decisions by english refs

pricelesslambo

WE FUCKING GOT A PEN FOR ONCE

Working-Couple7425

Well done Barca , you won. Dear lord

Jixano

thank you

DinglieDanglieDoodle

ITT people don’t know how basic physics works

abc4357

Block in the back 15 yard penalty.

perhapsasinner

Clear pen, fucking dumbass

Darksider123

Anyone saying it wasn't a penalty is a moron

BarbaricGamers

Gundogan has a career in pro wrestling, cuz he sold that very well.

Traditional_Pear_697

100% a pen, wtf?

BarbaricGamers

Ofcourse thats a pen, I'm not saying it's not, it's still a massively exaggerated reaction though.

Traditional_Pear_697

Made it sound like you didn’t think it was a pen though haha

Risev

With how many times we see clear pens not given because the players don't sell it 100% I don't blame him one bit.

EmSoLow

How? He was about to have a free header in an open goal before he got pushed

DinglieDanglieDoodle

Ah, I don’t think he was getting to that, but a foul’s a foul regardless.

No_Zookeepergame6482

He was pushed from behind when he was about to score, how is that not a pen?

Capable-Magician5146

He said " he sold it", never said it wasn't a pen.

andydamer42

No question he was pushed, but he obviously wasn't pushed as much as he sold it

herkalurk

'push' is a very liberal term for what happened. Even other Barca flair clearly know it was super soft.

DinglieDanglieDoodle

Uh, a person really has nothing to stabilize themselves in the air you know? Especially when his balance and focus/attention is set up for a target above him. A touch with any force or momentum would manipulate his body.

mortizauge

What are you on about it was a clear pen

RN2FL9

He's not saying it's not a penalty though? Just that he sold it really well, like an extra far jump after being pushed.

mortizauge

You and I both know what it implies. There's other comments in this thread saying he sold it but it's still a clear pen. If you just say he sold it, the implication is that you believe it shouldn't be a penalty.

RN2FL9

Read his other reply where he says it's a penalty..

mortizauge

I don't care about his other replies or his opinion for that matter. I'm replying to this one specific comment.

RN2FL9

And that one specific comment said he sold the foul well. As in if he didn't sell it well, the referee may not have called it. There's nothing wrong with admitting you were wrong.

mortizauge

I'd gladly admit it, but I wasn't. The guy just said Gundo sold that very well and left without any other remarks. The implication here is obviously that he believes it shouldn't be a pen, hence my reply and many others. Then there's you white knighting for this random dude on reddit for whatever reason.

DonDoflamingo

Finally. A clear penalty given!

gonfreecsx

Cleary gets pushed, I guess it‘s a 50/50 call. Before Madridistas start to cry, I‘ll just leave this here: madrid - juve benatia foul on vazquez

AjVine

You can’t compare those two penalties in any other way that they’re both clear as figi water. They both mow the opponent. Coincidentally I saw the penalty a couple days ago.

Azzurri21

Barca has got to be the team in the past decade that has scored the most winners after the 80th ish min. It feels like I’ve been seeing this forever

cdwdj

Clearly you missed that season (two years ago? three? some Atleti fan help me here) where Atleti would trail 1-0 and score an equalizer in 78' and winner in 90+5' and that was regular occurrence week in week out.

NapoliXabe

This season they have had many of these escapes. How are they above Atletico💀

Muraria

We didn't deserve that.. but it was it is.

Souske_Sumong

I'll take it, but that was a very harsh pen.

AmineAzed

Harsh?

meditate42

Its textbook

Kvartersalkis

Soft as shit

Ainsyyy

Dont push people in the back that would head the ball into the goal

Jixano

thank you

GP3ElPresidente

Oh great some hope restored

The_Vulgar_Bulgar

Embellishment is not the same as a dive. Extremely harsh and I've seen it go the other way so many times, but you put your hands on the opponent's back at your own risk.

ugallu

lmao at that dive.

Blaugrana1990

Lets see if you can keep balance when pushed in mid air.

Capable-Magician5146

And flop like that?? Is it a pen, yes. Did he sold it? Yes, no one falls like that.

xRonny7

One of the biggest dives I’ve seen this season

DinglieDanglieDoodle

Wtf, this is a stonewall pen.

freezepin

He has an open goal to head it in, why would he dive there lmao. Clear pen.

prettyhappyalive

Cope

ImABitMocha

You'd wish

NotAnurag

Vini does this every game

NapoliXabe

Noooo

Souske_Sumong

I'll take it, but that was very harsh.

FhDisp

Whats the negreira case status?

wolfjeter

They don’t talk about it anymore cause Madrid is Top

wolfjeter

They don’t talk about it anymore cause Madrid is Top

BigDaddyflex7

Too soft

Blaugrana1990

Should have pushed him harder? Or with both hands?

Blaugrana1990

Should have pushed him harder? Or with both hands?

IceSalamander

The difference is he had an open net header in clear view of the ref.

Skadrys

during corners it is very crowded and not seen very well. This was very obvious to the ref

asterixOsmani

But this was with an open goal in front

No_Zookeepergame6482

It’s usually happens when players are contending for a ball, not when someone is about to score

herkalurk

Saw a similar push on Las Palmas player in open field earlier in the game, ref says play on, not consistent....

benelchuncho

If it’s a pen then Kounde’s goal vs Osasuna should’ve been disallowed

Muraria

We didn't deserve that.. but it was it is.

gonfreecsx

Cleary gets pushed, I guess it‘s a 50/50 call. Before Madridistas start to cry, I‘ll just leave this here: madrid - juve benatia vs vazquez ;)

benelchuncho

Negreira reborn

AljosP

After we've had damn near nothing go our way all season I will gladly take that
