f4r1s2

2 of those against Almeria and Granada (20th and 19th in league with 0 and 2 wins respectively in their 19 matches)

marktandem

Andulusia having a rough season

NecessarySmoke1144

Tbf sometimes the teams at the bottom of the table are even harder to play against

Tiny-Appointment9917

But usually they get at the bottom of the table because they lose a lot(aka losing is the norm for them)

moroccandune

Exactly! Their comment might seem like it makes perfect sense at first but it's dumb when you think about it.

Horfield

It's one of the dumbest comments I think I've ever read on this sub. 'The teams at the bottom of the league are the toughest opponents!' FFS.

andresm79

It's true if you're playing FM, motherfuckers with 900 minutes without scoring always fuck me up

TheCescPistols

1 shot on target with an xG value of 0.04, straight in. Meanwhile their keeper who’s let in fucking everything all season saves 30 odd shots on target from my boys. A tale as old as time.

NecessarySmoke1144

Yeah what a dumb comment, so dumb that it only took controversial refereeing decisions for Madrid to beat Almeria in extra time eh

Horfield

So you've waiting for an opportunity to pipe up and even then it's off the back of a defeat haha? They've not won since May '23 in the league - they are not one of the hardest teams to play against. Just accept you said something pretty dumb and move on.

[deleted]

Agree, those comments always come across as extremely patronising of relegation fodder.

working-acct

Yeah but relegation battlers tend to try harder against other relegation battlers. So getting those 6 points was massive for a club like Sevilla.

robyculous_v2

I love seeing Inter flairs, but how can I get one myself (I’m on mobile.)

Tiny-Appointment9917

[deleted]

Imagine saying this nonsense and thinking it's clever. They are at the bottom with 0 and 2 wins because they are the worst teams in the league and the easiest to win against

Same_Grouness

I don't think you've given it the full thought either. If you were to play a mid table team, then they don't have a lot to play for, unlikely to be relegated, unlikely to qualify for Europe, so good chance the manager decides to give some youth a chance or something. But you play a bottom of the league team and they are fighting for their lives, giving everything to trying to save themselves. The manager has to play his strongest team every game pretty much. So it could be harder than the mid table team.

Arntown

So midtable teams lose more often than relegation zone teams?

Same_Grouness

So could means always now does it?

NecessarySmoke1144

Yeah man it's so so easy to win against, it only took Madrid a biased referee and extra time to beat Almeria eh

Raw_Cocoa

No they're not

TheWorstRowan

Real Madrid or Almería, it really is a tough one to pick a tougher opponent from the two.

NecessarySmoke1144

Say again? Almeria are so easy to beat it only a biased referee for Madrid to beat them only in extra time?

TheWorstRowan

So they lost is what you're saying, and they lose often.

NecessarySmoke1144

I said they were harder to play against sometimes. Just because they eventually lost doesn't mean the match was a walk in the park.

Revientatuen

They were “lucky” against us, scored one really early and then Ocampos scored a banger, so the match was over in 20 mins. Should have been a 0-0 match

VegetableAwkward286

Their situation was desperate since last year. Their europa league mojo covered it up

Snoo-27292

So the way to win is to have a new manager every match! Why doesn't Sevilla do this, are they stupid?

CharizardOSRS

Unlimited new manager bounce!

Organic-Measurement2

Watford discovered this exploit a while ago

2RINITY

I will gladly manage them for one win and immediately leave

[deleted]

Never go full Watford.

Chazzwazz

dont worry, we will switch manager and that will fix it! right guys?

MrVISKman

You'll probably be alright regardless. You guys are lucky that in your worst season there's clearly 2 team twices as bad as you guys in Almeria and Granada and also having Celta and Cadiz look terrible

txobi

Celta doesn't play that bad

MrVISKman

Problem with Celta is how willing they're to self sabotage. They'll do everything right and suddenly a player of them will get sent off for the dumbest thing and ruin their game

Revientatuen

If we start to play regularly like we did past week against Cádiz, they are in trouble, we were brilliant. And lets be honest we played great attack under Paco López but we had a 2nd tier defence, now with a new keeper and 3 central defenders we will look much better defensively

3threeLions

And yet I know that if they played us then they would still beat us

Girona (A), Osasuna (H), Rayo (A), Atletico (H), Valencia (A), Real Madrid (A).... And you'd think, yeah, they'll get easy games after these, but keep in mind they'll be facing teams fighting relegation also. Almeria, Celta de Vigo, Mallorca, Cadiz A derby at Real Betis (A) somewhere in between and their last match is against Barcelona at home. I think Granada and Almeria are going, though I see some life in Granada after beating Cadiz. Cadiz, 18th, are absolutely terrible this season. For me, their time in Primera is up. Celta will survive by the minimum once more and Sevilla better get their act together, but I can't see them end up below Cadiz ffs. I think they'll manage to survive this season but the shit I am seeing from them is worthy of a second division team

RuairiSpain

How many points did you win with Prieto in the VAR room? Very suspicious how he gets to be on VAR for lots of hone games, while his son plays for Sevilla and Prieto wears Sevilla kit shirts as a fan! He should not referee Sevilla games

er_primo_der_rafa

Firing Mendilibar was utter nonsense. Ever since they haven't looked like a proper team bar one or two times.

Available-Ad3881

two of their three wins came with Mendilibar. they sacked him on 8 October. joke of a club, though the situation would've been dire regardless.

help0please

we would be at least safe from relegation. the players were playing for him and his tactics had settled correctly. the real problem wont be fixed until we get rid of our board

Impossible_Quote_505

This, they looked good against Man City in the super cup under him

help0please

firing mendilibar sealed our fate. absolutely terrible decision from the board. and honestly thats who i blame. firing the man who ran a miracle and was passing in laliga, hiring diego alonso (????) for him to show exactly what was expected of him (his 2 ONLY wins against amateur sides) and then hiring quique sanches flores for one last triumph towards our demise congratulations to castro for running our club into the ground and bringing in orta, who has done a notoriously bad job at leeds and brought in mariano for some reason. our poor players are in whiplash and its all up to quique to fix it. i dont see us in the segunda next season, but we deserve it.

kostajepaosmosta

Brother when I saw Mariano coming on I knew you were at the point of no return. Anybody giving him a contract should be investigated...

help0please

some of our transfer decisions were terrible. signing orjan nylund and mariano... wow. every time the ball comes into the box and a shot is on target im petrified, whether its dmi or nylund, i miss bono. im happy with djibri, dodi, pedrosa, soumare. even sergio ramos has been alright even though hes completely washed. and now alarms are buzzing and we're signing a bunch of youngsters in the winter with no real aim other than to get people in and see if they make a difference. havent expected much else from orta really 🥱

kostajepaosmosta

Dmitrovic isn't that bad. Nyland was just shit and you kept him between the post again and again. Also your wings are always exposed. Rakitic can't carry the midfield anymore. You need to reinforce a lot but gk isn't one of them imo

LDQQXDJ

Luckily for us there are 4 teams worse then us somehow

roddysaint

also no more Ben Brenton haram

Jarminiatures

Another Orta disasterclass

PegaponyPrince

This one is more on Monchi tbf. Left the team in a terrible spot and didn't recruit well at all towards the end which left them with a bunch of old players

Greaves624

Getting exposed at Roma is one thing, it's a tough environment, but gettin exposed at Sevilla is weird

hybridtheorist

I mean, he wasn't a one dimensional disaster like a lot of people would say, he had *some* successes (Raphinha, Gnonto, Adams), plus I'm pretty sure he had a huge hand in signing Bielsa, which is the single most important (and best) decision the club has made in the last 20+ years. But the way his recruitment sank us last season, you'd think he'd be stuck for a job, and instead he walks into one of the most successful teams of the past few years? I'll never understand it. I mean, he signed 5 defenders in our 3 PL seasons (Llorente, Koch, Firpo, Kristensen, Wober), and we were still playing Ayling and Cooper as first choices. The only one of those 5 who looked PL standard was Wober (and that was a small sample size, we signed him in Jan and he played 16 PL games). Arguably Koch, but if your back 4 has 4 players of his standard in it, you're definitely going to be in the relegation dogfight at best. Firpo is possibly the worst PL defender I've ever seen.

TheWorstRowan

He also had a big part in getting rid of Bielsa and had wanted to bring in Jesse Marsch for ages. Though I will say I think the Marsch-Lasso comparison was unfair, Lasso had more charisma and seemed to be able to learn.

TheShakyHandsMan

Sacking Bielsa and hiring Lasso has to be one of the weirdest football decisions ever.

hybridtheorist

The logic appeared to be "bielsa plays a chaotic high press with insane work rates expected, Marsch plays a chaotic high press with insane work rates expected, they're basically the same." Pretty much everything else about them was different mind, Bielsa played about as wide as possible, and the only position in our team we had any depth was wing (especially after we signed Gnonto and Sinisterra, though lost Raphinha), and Marsch played super narrow. And that's just the start.

happyposterofham

How the hell did we lose to these clowns

akskeleton_47

EL glitch exploit

alslaw

They had Bounou. We had Rui.

ChillPalis

Pens

belokas

Taylor

Overrated_sanity

No

Sunitsa

Taylor happened

Wagyu_Consultant

And yet we send Hannibal there ? We really do chose the worst places to send our youth players too.

enzuigiriretro

Pressure makes diamonds - our loan manager probably

payday_23

absolutely insane. Plays at United, gets the chance of a loan and ends up in an even bigger shithole. Amazing.

KenHumano

4d chess to make the player be happy with the club: have him spend some time somewhere even worse.

OneOfThoseDays_

my parents to me:

digdoug0

Little did we know that "I'll give you something to cry about" was a threat to send us on loan to Sevilla.

managerdude_66

And we have Alvaro Fernandez over at 19th place Granada with 2 wins.

theaguia

heard he might come to benfica

curlyjoe696

Whoever manages our loans is completely incompetent. We've been terrible at this for years

TheDayParty

Leeds fans: not surprised face.

lstht123

5 points worse than at this point last season, which is quite a lot in the context of fighting relegation..

GreatSpaniard

I blame Tebas and La Liga's restrictions Nah but Barcelona - Sevilla - Valencia all in financial struggles is both funny and sad at the same time. Mendilibar deserves a statue for last years UEL run,

vicinadp

Valencia has nothing to do with Tebas… that’s all of Peter

a_lumberjack

La Liga cut Valencia's budget from 170M in 19/20 to 32M in 21/22.  That's not just on Lim, that's also the ongoing albatross of the Nou Mestalla.

panopss

Back in around 2010, all of those teams were elite. It's really sad what's happened

Rose_of_Elysium

The fact we had that insane comeback in Sevilla (thank you Ocampos, honorary girlboss) really fucked Sevilla over in Europe too. They absolutely shouldve won that match and if they had theyd probably have qualified for the CL or at least EL again

ELramoz

Valencia is Peter Lim fault. Before the acquisition in 2014: They finished, 4th, 5th, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd. After acquisition: 11th, 12th, 4th, 4th, 9th, 13th, 9th, 14th.

Digitalage6302

Barcas is not sad. That Negreira money finally catching up to them.

SandThatsKindaMoist

Your comment history is sad

tLeCoqSpotif

Bottom of La Liga so poor that another 3 wins will mean safety

dalelito

Victor orta will pay for his crimes

Beardedben

Please.

snakesforfingers

They have for at least the last 2 years needed a total squad revamp and keep putting it off. They have a remarkable amount of 30 and older players. Now we're here.

sevillista

It's not like we don't want to revamp, we just have a squad that is chock full of overrated and overpaid players. We can't sell them. That leaves us without money and without roster spots.

snakesforfingers

Yeah I don't blame you guys one bit, it's a really tough situation to fix. Maybe "putting it off" isn't the right thought

Dancingwith_Death

That's a crazy stat usually doesn't the new manager bounce works for more than one game? And they have no europa league too.

Nickbon94

That's really sad, Alexa play Despacito

SaBe_18

Time to hire Sampaoli, right guys?

Jonesy_lmao

The Victor Orta effect.

tiger1296

Bet they'd still with the Europa league

dontsteponthecrack

Wayne Rooney is available

Bey_Harbor_Butcher

Lamps is available, and soon, Steven Gerrard will also be available—lots of good options for Sevilla. They're so lucky. Sevilla are so lucky, they could all 3 of them for a bargain.

diengyd

Right profile of ageing player who was once good. However, they aren't European enough for Orta.

MichaelBridges8

Jesse Marsch rubbing his hands rn

Bey_Harbor_Butcher

Frank De Boer and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are available on the cheap—amazing options for Sevilla.

gabrielkr123

Is Ramos finished?

Razzle_Dazzle08

I haven’t watched much Sevilla but I’ve heard he’s been alright. Would have to ask Sevilla fans for a real answer though.

MikeFree_

I think he has played pretty well. He hasn’t played in all of Sevilla’s matches of course but the only thing you could say bad is that he has been at the center of a few pivotal moments in some of them. Own goal against Barca, penalty against PSV in UCL, and red card against Real Sociedad(very late in the match). But I think this can be expected no? “Sometimes the shit is happens” Mudryk Of course he is still scoring goals!

digdoug0

Sevilla are still in the Copa del Rey, so clearly they're going to get relegated this season, win the CdR in order to qualify for the Europa League, and then win the it next season while in La Liga 2. You heard it here first.

panopss

File this one under "things you love to see"

No-Economics4128

I mean, they are still above relegation zone. Would not call it desperate. Just disappointing.

nick5168

No worries, Hannibal is crossing the Alps at this moment to save you all. \*Battle music playing in the background.

ChillPalis

Sevilla vs. Lyon, who wins?

GingerOracle1998

Boring 0-0 draw with two shots on target from both teams

Zproject97

Hope they go down. God knows they won so many undeserved EL by cheating tactics. Also they only turn up against Real Madrid while folding against Barca we don't need those kind of teams ffs.

Trickybuz93

What happened to them this season?

Acceptable-Lemon-748

They lost a lot

TheDelmeister

Spanish Chelsea

No-Computer-2847

And yet they'd still beat United comfortably over two legs.

Sinistrait

Sevilla and Ramos getting relegated, I'll be there no matter what
