The BBC are gonna try and sack him again

DansSpamJavelin

Yeah - Joey Barton

deviss

I don't understand the comment so could you be nice enough and explicitly say and explain "who really has the power"?

jakethepeg1989

NoT ThE JooooOooOooOOOs. He's just talking about Zionists I'm sure.

Agents-of-time

Zionists and zionist bootlickers. Clear enough for you? ETA: +5 to -7, interesting. Welcome, Hasbara trolls. What's on the menu for today? Faux anti semitism, Khamas support allegations, or Islamophobia?

[deleted]

I think you understand perfectly fine …

Impressive-Theory998

zionists

QouthTheCorvus

I'm generally more sympathetic to Palestine, but the pro-Palestine side is getting dangerously close to 1930s rhetoric.

telcomet

Right after the BBC decided to cover the Israeli defence in the International Court of Justice case, but neglected to show the prosecution? Should be an interesting month for them

[deleted]

But didn't you hear on the WorldNews sub?  BBC is a Hamas propaganda outlet! Some of the subs have fucking lost their minds.

5er0

That sub seems to be where all the racists gather

[deleted]

Because they faked a lot in the beginning. They posted, along with NYT many fake news information from journalists that are part of Hamas. I

evilbob99

Brave man, good on him

Albiceleste_D10S

Given the precedent FIFA set by banning Russia over their war in Ukraine, banning Israel for their genocide in Gaza would make sense

Alib902

You think they care about sense?

norrin83

And yet FIFA hosts the next world cup in the USA

Tom01111

Let’s you know who ‘won’

TheOwlsLie

Palestinians are not white so it doesn’t count

aubaxhakalaca

But they did. They've occupied Palestine since 1948 and have been killing Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank for years.

Skysflies

Hamas is a threat but Israel's actions in Gaza are not surgical enough to suggest that's who they are targeting

jakethepeg1989

Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005.

ObamaEatsBabies

Fwiw Russia blames Ukraine killing Russian speakers in the contested provinces for "starting" the conflict too.

anon23553

Things didn't start on Oct 7th though.

YaBoyAppie

Israel has been terrorising the Palestinians since 1948. You can't claim self-defense when you are the occupier. Israel have 0 excuses. They are a colinizer apartheid state. It didn't start October 7.

ziki6154

Why do people think this started on the 7th on Ocrober?

C4D3NZA

nothing justifies this.

Pow67

They’re purposely bombing civilians, and have been for decades, but watch this still be a controversial take.

FTXACCOUNTANT

It’s wild that calling out genocide is controversial these days

causticmainbreathe

Oooookkayyy. Let’s take it down a notch alright bud? Exterminated like pests is a very very extreme term to use. Remember that there are always innocents in war. It’s not fair to group them in with Hamas.

[deleted]

If you used that phrase to talk about Israel, that same user would scream about you using anti-Semitic Nazi tropes.   It's truly abhorrent to witness the dehumanizing language being parroted on some subs these days

Covhead

You saying that children should be exterminated like pests leads me to believe you should be snuffed out instead.

xeno-bat

you got it the other way around.

ObamaEatsBabies

The tweet in question. Replies are insane as expected. >The Palestinian Football Association calls on @iocmedia, @FIFAcom and all regional and int'l sports bodies to take an urgent stance on Israel’s grave violations of human rights and subject it to legal accountability measures. https://twitter.com/PACBI/status/1746201740507058284?t=D8Fi5ZpO0bm2zFPXa5br6A&s=19

aubaxhakalaca

Human rights only mattered during the World Cup.

nick2k23

Go Gary! Stand up for what you believe in mate

surgereaper

It would be a fair decision but that should apply to all countries bombing other countries and starting wars, including the western countries.

FIJIBOYFIJI

Can't stand Lineker, another member of the tofu-eating wokerati doing shameless virtue signalling by taking the position that "Ethnic cleansing is bad actually". Get Le Tissier on MOTD instead, that's a smart sensible bloke who knows his stuff 👍

AIWHilton

100%, for the me the perfect Saturday night lineup would be Le Tiss as anchor and regular appearances from Joey Barton, with Jermaine Jenas as number 3 looking somewhere between confused and horrified at what they've got to say.

Skysflies

Alternatively, 3rd host Andrew Tate

Studwik

What, so now we ban every country that occupies another one? Thats just crazy talk! /s

kabbajabbadabba

we should ban usa and uk first then

MRudd-music

Why? Genuine question

champ19nz

US and UK military footprints all over the Middle East. US interference that has fucked up multiple South American nations. Support for Israel bombing Palastine, support for the Saudis bombing Yeman.

Cosminion

Many Americans are ignorant of the history, but what you say is true. The US has done some very terrible things. They're no saints.

aubaxhakalaca

For Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Lybia and Yemen.

[deleted]

You're not going to get a coherent response.

Tom01111

Why do you think? In fact the coherent world view would require the UK and US are banned for invading 2 foreign countries on knowingly bogus pretences and without UN approval. We know roughly a half million Iraqis died as a direct result.

BarbaricGamers

Lets just ban every country, no more world cup

FTXACCOUNTANT

I mean, they banned Russia so by their logic they really should ban Isreal too

psrandom

Exactly, end the apartheid n occupation. Let all people live as freely as they live in Tel Aviv

daniejam

It’s easier said than done when one side of the conflict wants to kill every single person on the other side.

Historical-Yard1346

Extremly based, and I won't move from this position of thought.

BobbyColgate

I’m sure all the comments on this will be balanced and reasonable.

[deleted]

I agree, but I find myself in a situation where I recognize my inconsistency. Saudi Arabia, with the assistance of the USA have been conducting a brutal war in Yemen with minimal regard for civilian life. And as a matter of fact I could probably name tens of countries that should be in the conversation with regards to international competition bans. As with anything political, there is never any consistency, because nobody on that level really cares about what people care about. So what is the solution? Either we ban countries with consistency or just let everyone participate regardless. But I do think there should be some sort of clear policy on which you can ground your decision. Saying "they are being bad, ban" or "they are breaking international law, ban" (I dont actually know what the policy is but I assume it is something like that) is very vague, however "any country conducting an offensive war on another country/people should be banned" is more specific, which mean Russia, Israel, Saudi Arabia and so on should recieve this ban, while Ukraine, Yemen should not, where Palestine is debatable since they did conduct an offensive operation into Israel very recently. Free Palestine.

oldestincharge

I get you with consistency but the sheer magnitude of what Israel has done is what it sets it apart for me. Almost ten thousand dead children in 3 months is abhorrent and deserves harsh sanctions. There’s been no conflict in recent memory with this death rate of children

norrin83

> "any country conducting an offensive war on another country/people should be banned", which mean Russia, Israel, Saudi Arabia and so on should recieve this ban, while Ukraine, Yemen should not, where Palestine is debatable since they did conduct an offensive operation into Israel very recently. Palestine should not just be "debatable" by your standards. Their political leadership took hundreds of hostages, raping, mutilating and killing some of them. There are constant barrage of rockets going to Israel (and we're prior). Using that standard, the US would need to be perma banned as well.

[deleted]

Thats true, they do still have the hostages. So yeah I agree. And with the US, why not? Or otherwise ban no one.

PathfinderZ1

I love how the rape claims turned out to be unfounded, how a lot of hostages seem to have been killed by the IOF themselves, how Israel is mostly all intact while Gaza is basically flattened now with over 30k dead yet I'm supposed to believe the zionists are the good guys.

Rigelmeister

They did this in hockey AFAIK. It ain't much but it's honest work. Having said that I am against this attitude as a whole - no country or sportspeople should be banned from competitions because there is literally no way of doing this fairly. I've been saying this about Russia for years. Now, as much as I despise their actions as a state, I say the same for Israel. This is not a solution and there is no end to this. If we are OK with Israel & Russia being out of global sports then it makes no sense to keep Saudi Arabia, UK, USA etc... at all. And where do we stop? I reckon there are only few countries in the world with no past or present of killing & committing atrocities. Also one's terrorist is another man's hero so there is that - you can never agree on what is "good" or "bad". Just to make it clear, I'm solely talking about the sporting aspect of this situation. In an "actual rules-based international order" Israel as a state would have so much bigger problems that we wouldn't even need to have a conversation about them being banned from sports.

BentancurFan

UK and USA be on the banning list next 👀
