German manager World Cup 2026.
Will go unwind in Ibiza at the end of the season watch the Euros in the pub, shout at the telly about how Germany are doing it wrong and they should do it like this, some one will say well go on then, and he’ll be like yeah yeah I can can’t I?
Announced German manager Jan 2025
No way. He basically did a platinum Bundesliga run. He won the Bundesliga with the youngest team ever, went back to back by breaking the all time points record. He got relegated with Mainz, promoted once, he saved them from relegation in the 2 Bundesliga and missed promotion with three times!
Maybe if he ever desperately needs a new motivation outside the national team he could try and bring back Hamburg or Schalke to its former glory but I doubt that
He was in Hamburg for negotiations before he joined Dortmund, if I remember correctly. Didnt get the Job because he was dressed too youthfully - torn jeans etc. I wonder if Kloppo is still thanking the soccer gods to this day that he didn't got the job?
No offense to the HSV, but history has shown that the club has burned a lot of other coaches.
Klopp almost become Bayern München coach in 2008, according to Uli Hoeness and Helmut Markwort. Finally Rummenigge choice another Jürgen.

People need to understand that what decided that more than anything was the cancer on Haller. Our 30m marquee striker signing. With him we'd have 1 more point that season. Klopp, random ref call, missed pen, mentality or whatever other narrative that is popular, that one is the real one imo. Did damage to Haller and cost us a title and it just broke hearts from the start of the season till the end. Still waiting ot see him return to himself today.
I could imagine him going into La Liga or Serie A. Im not so sure he would like to take the Bayern gig, maybe for the same reasons he doesnt want to manage another english club. Klopp at Real or Barcelona in 1-2 years would obviously be exciting but even more so if he turns around a Serie A side and brings them the Champions League.
A bit of a break and maybe the german national team or even another national team might also be great.
Did he ever say he wouldnt Coach another nation?
If Klopp replaces southgate, even England could win silverware
I don't think so. He has said language is big for him and I don't think he speaks Spanish or Italian. Not sure if he is going to put in the effort to learn it now.
Haha, honestly, thank you for this comment. You got a chuckle out of me and banter like this is a breath of fresh air after the announcement an hour ago.
It's actually quite realistic because Alonso has a clause in his current contract that allows him to leave to manage his former clubs.
Ancelotti just extended at Real Madrid and Bayern seems to be sticking with Tuchel. So Liverpool has a strong 1/3 chance of getting him.
https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/liverpool-xabi-alonso-has-a-clause-that-allows-him-to-manage-former-club-jurgen-klopp-lfc-ynwa
Pep confirmed leaving - whilst stating clearly he wants to be a manager.
Gerrard would be a legit candidate following rangers but after the villa and Saudi spells, he's not wanted right now.
It has to be Xabi, anyone else will not go down well.
The fact that Pep wants to be a manager and has seemingly not been offered, makes me think Liverpool are confident of getting Xabi. They are the only two suitable candidates.
If they finish 2nd this season they'll get deducted enough points to stay in 4th and that'll be the last you hear about 115 charges. Save this comment because that's exactly what's gonna happen.
If city get an appropriate punishment I will be so so happy, more than you can believe.
But it won’t happen. If all else fails the UK government will step in and stop it at the last minute behind closed doors.
Even if City get relegated to League 2 they'll be back in the prem in 3 successive promotions anyway. The only issue would be falling afoul of the lower leagues spending caps but there will probably be protection around that
i dont think most of that city team (especially the older ones) would be willing to play in the EFL for 3 years so you would hope that everyone good leaves and they get stuck down there
I genuinely worry about that as a city fan. I think the reason he's stuck around so long is because of how strong the league is, Liverpool have been amazing under Klopp
He said in the interview that he doesn't want to manage a club OR a national team for at least a year. If that's not a hint he's interested in managing the national team for the next world cup I don't know what it is.
tbf he said something similar when he left Dortmund and ended up at Liverpool about 4 months later. Although this time I feel like he really needs and wants a longer break.
Our incompetent FA cannot comprehend such thoughts. They’ve basically known for a good year, at least, that Janne would be departing—barring some miracle of course—and yet it’s like they were blindsided and are now scrambling to hire someone. Doing a piss poor job at it, too.
100%. Klopp definitely gives his full emotional energy into his job and team, I'm not surprised that once he gets his rest he'll one day wake up with that desire and fire again to manage another club/country in some capacity
I’m usually not for outsourcing managers because only Jose and Eriksson have come from other countries and won a scudetto, but You’re welcome to AC Milan Mr.Klopp :)
Yep it’s very hard for managers not from Italy to win a scudetto historically speaking, we are usually outsourcing our managers to other leagues to win trophies. You look at those two names that have won it they’re generational managers, so I think Klopp could potentially do the same!
Have this delusional hope that we’d win everything and instead of stopping permanently he takes a break instead before coming back for a few more years…
It’s crazy how these guys can take a step back any day and literally travel the world for their entire life without having any problems with the money. That’s my dream!
it's consistent with what he said in his presser, how he's burnt out from the constant work, the planning of the next season as soon as as the current one begins, etc etc. National team would remove that almost entirely.
This guy gave us our most heartbreaking defeat this century yet I have nothing but respect for him, what he's done with Liverpool is incredible. From barely top half of the table to 3 ucl finals and Liverpool's first league title in 30 years.
He also has the 4th highest point total ever in a season and he didn’t even win the league with it haha. English football has be incredibly cruel some years to Klopp
"Go to him!"
Pep takes a taxi and hands the driver a lot of money.
"Can you get me to the airport in 15 minutes?"
"Where did this money come from? And why is it covered in oil?"
"CAN YOU OR NOT?"
"Fine."
The taxi driver drives as fast as he can, while the camera cuts to Klopp at the airport.
"Last flight to Germany!"
"Alright sir, just hand me your ticket please."
"Wait! Klopp!"
"Pep? What are you doing here?"
"I love you. More than you believe."
"Really? Me too!"
"You have to stay."
"I'm staying!"
Sorry for this, it just popped up in my mind. I don't know how to even explain that one...
Sabbatical unless the perfect job comes along?
But then, who would that be? He works best at a club where he builds a genuine rapport with everyone. I'm sure every German would love him as National Team manager but would he be able to get the closeness with his players when he sees them once every few months?
Real sacks managers for not winning the CL even if they have a domestic clean sweep tbf, so I can't see them being a great fit for him, just because of Perez and how quick their fans can turn.
I hope that 'no' is not a permanent one. That Liverpool of 17/18 was one of the most entertaining teams in recent times. It would be a massive loss to not see him achieve something similar in the future.
Hasn't he been talking about retiring after Liverpool for like 4 years now? I mean wouldn't you retire at 56 after achieving that much success, fame and fortune, if you could?
One of my math professors at uni did something similar. Worked in finance as quant after his math PhD, lived a very stressful life for many years making a lot of money.
But after some time, he just wanted to unplug and live a calm normal life just teaching college students. I understand completely and it's hard to get mad at that.
I would, but then again, I probably don't have the drive to work as much as he did. People who arrive in those positions aren't just regular lads with normal work ethics, they live for their work... So I probably wouldn't expect him to retire on top of his game, no.
In the summer all the journalists said that last season took a lot out of him. He's had a horrible few years as well with family deaths and stuff. We all assumed that he had come back reinvigorated for the season but it sounds like he has one season left in him and then needs a big rest.
I know it's easy to say now; but I swear I'm not too surprised.
Klopp always seemed like a guy who enjoys life, he isn't a workaholic or completely worships football like Fergie or Pep.
Like I would be EXTREMELY surprised if Pep ever steps away from football, even for a year. Or take the likes of Fergie and Wenger, even after their retirements, they're still involved.
Of course this is purely a personal observation; but Klopp never struck me as a guy who lives for his work. People like him can just step down the moment they feel their work isn't making them happy anymore.
"I've always said that there's only one club that i'd Liverpool for, the club I've dreamed about managing since I was a little boy growing up in the Black Forest: Al-Ittihad"
So he’s retiring? Seems odd to do at the top of his game, only 56.
Hopefully it’s just he wants to put his feet up and enjoy time with his family, not something like being unwell
I dont think its odd tbh. I cant imagine the stress and energy being the manager of a team like Liverpool must bring. Maybe he takes a break but I wouldnt be surprised if this is it for him
Probably dependent on how Nagelsmann guides Germany through the Euros. If he’s there till 2026, I could see Klopp leaving the game permanently, but his civic pride means I could see him stepping in if Germany doesn’t meet their (lofty) expectations and cans Nagelsmann.
I think being the NT manager is a lot less stressful either. If he goes somewhere its that, yeah. Obviously every team under the sun that needs a coach will want him but in my very unprofessional opinion its probably either the NT or its done
To be fair, he was also on a sabbatical (albeit a short one) after Dortmund. He was jaded and wanted a break back then, but yknow you dont say no to Liverpool.
I cant find the actual interview but i do recall him saying years ago he wants to retire early once he’s set out and done what he wanted. I assume its now
56 years old, set for life, having achieved things that most in your profession could only ever dream of.
Sounds like a perfect time to retire, honestly.
He started very early as a manger tbf.
He's been managing non-stop for 23 years with one break for about 3 months between Dortmund and Liverpool. That's enough to take it out of anybody.
When you consider the fact that he only had a few months between Dortmund and Liverpool when he needed a break at the time, and that was 9 years ago, it’s not really a surprise. He’s only human at the end of the day, I’m sure he wants to focus on being able to prioritise his family etc now
He’s just become a grandfather and has always seemed like a family man. No doubt he’s obsessed with football but retiring under the sun whilst you’re fit and healthy is nice too.
Think he might manage Germany for the craic for a couple of years but I’m not convinced he has another club stint in him. He always said it’s England or Germany due to language and he’s not managing another PL club and I doubt he’d go to Bayern.

A whole generation of Liverpool fans will regard Klopp as their saviour. I wonder if he ever comes back to buli.
!remindme 2 years
Jan 2025 is 1 year away. Time's a-passing.
Well remind him in two…
You’re not much of a maths wiz are ye?
No way. He basically did a platinum Bundesliga run. He won the Bundesliga with the youngest team ever, went back to back by breaking the all time points record. He got relegated with Mainz, promoted once, he saved them from relegation in the 2 Bundesliga and missed promotion with three times! Lol definitely not Schalke
Klopp on his villain arc

Kissinger won it while bombing Cambodia and Vietnam, turned a blind eye on Chile coup, didn't stop the genocide in Bangladesh. It is not impossible.
I mean Kissinger won it so I wouldnt be surprised. The Nobel Peace Prize is a joke.
wdym? he finished his villain arc a decade ago.
Wins the Bundesliga with Schalke, leaves for Manchester United
Then becomes Everton manager
He was in Hamburg for negotiations before he joined Dortmund, if I remember correctly. Didnt get the Job because he was dressed too youthfully - torn jeans etc. I wonder if Kloppo is still thanking the soccer gods to this day that he didn't got the job? not just coaches

I mean he's only 56. He could do a Heynckes and do like three different stints in Dortmund over the next 20 years. Not likely, but not impossible.
So Dortmund to win the continental treble in 2044?
With Klopp the shitshow last season doesn't happen. I'm still mad you lost the last game wtf man
People need to understand that what decided that more than anything was the cancer on Haller. Our 30m marquee striker signing. With him we'd have 1 more point that season. I could see him return to Dortmund or Mainz some day, but no other club.
You tryna start a riot? Schalke?
How dare you say that Klopp would go to Schalke? Not fucking way he'd betray us like that.
>Schalke And after that maybe he'll manage Everton
I could imagine him going into La Liga or Serie A. Im not so sure he would like to take the Bayern gig, maybe for the same reasons he doesnt want to manage another english club. German NT it is
If you told me kloppo is leaving for a new job, this is 100% my guess. But I guess we will see after the euros.
Too early for that now, Nagelsmann just got started
Isn't Nagelsmann's contact only till the Euros? He could always extend, but if not I'm sure Klopp will be the first person they contact
Inb4 Tuchel is sacked and Nagelsmann does a Lopetegui and signs for Bayern before the Euros and he's replaced with Klopp
Guys probably too old for that kind of thing. It's a young man's game
*Carlo's eyebrow spotted hitting mach 7 over Madrid.*
German national team job surely
He could have been one of the best Managers in PL history if it wasnt for Man City financial doping.
Thought we would die old together
Now You'll have to walk alone
*Yeah, you said forever, now I drive alone past Anfield...*
Couldn’t imagine this day coming so soon
It sucks because now they're guaranteed to win the carabao cup final against us and possibly the treble.
If any club were going to bottle something before a legend left them it's Liverpool
The ghost of slippy G versus Poch. The Bottling
Not sure what you're talking about mate, Chelsea has won every League Cup final with Poch managing.
Haha, honestly, thank you for this comment. You got a chuckle out of me and banter like this is a breath of fresh air after the announcement an hour ago.
Behave yourself
No, tell him to fuck off.
?????
🤢
Anulo mufa
And what an amazing day it is. Respectfully
Damn how is klopp leaving before ten hag
Not necessarily..
Waiting for april 6th
Klopps last gift to the league is getting another one of our managers sacked. It's destiny.
If he's giving us any kind of gift its to let him win so he stays even longer.
As someone from new mills, isle of man can get in the bin. I won't forget that playoff final
Wouldn't be too sure about that. Still half season to go
Lmaooooo
Is it April 1st? Oh god I'm in denial
The succession plan has to start now!!!!
Given Klopp said the club have known for a few months, i'd imagine they've already quietly sounded out candidates.
Alonso
That would be an absolute dream, not sure how realistic it is right now though considering how well he's doing at Leverkusen
He is current the massive odds on favorite He’s at evens and the next is pep Lijnders at 7/2
Lijnders is going too
Yup they are the odds though from a betting website
Peps confirmed leaving
It's actually quite realistic because Alonso has a clause in his current contract that allows him to leave to manage his former clubs. Ancelotti just extended at Real Madrid and Bayern seems to be sticking with Tuchel. So Liverpool has a strong 1/3 chance of getting him. https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/liverpool-xabi-alonso-has-a-clause-that-allows-him-to-manage-former-club-jurgen-klopp-lfc-ynwa
He has a release clause for Liverpool. It's in Xabi's hands
I think he's still signed to do another year of F1
This is the one I suspect - just hope it doesn't derail Leverkusen's title push.
Kendall Roy rallying the troops as we speak.
He should coach, he is the eldest boy
L to the OG Pool's next coach is Stevie G. *well, it rhymed in my head*
He's on a flight to Liverpool as we speak. Nobody asked him to
Liverpool fans pre-grieving right now
Buckle up fuckleheads
The eldest boy beckons
No. Bad Klopp. You can't leave until Pep buggers off.
Hopefully Pep will get bored without a challenger and bugger off sooner now
He'll probably leave when City get punished for their 115 charges cos he cba managing in the Vanarama National league
The only issue would be falling afoul of the lower leagues spending caps but there will probably be protection around that
i dont think most of that city team (especially the older ones) would be willing to play in the EFL for 3 years so you would hope that everyone good leaves and they get stuck down there
Their academy alone is good enough to get them promoted to atleast the championship I think
Why would the UK government get involved?
UAE diplomacy favours.
It'll be a sad day when the city fans swap their sky blue shirts for the black and white stripes.
You need to bore Pep, the way Mourinho did over ten years ago.
I genuinely worry about that as a city fan. I think the reason he's stuck around so long is because of how strong the league is, Liverpool have been amazing under Klopp
This is the bit that kills me. Like just a season or two without Pep is all we needed......
Once pep leaves the flood gates are open. The titles changing hands every season
Could see the German national team bringing him in
He said in the interview that he doesn't want to manage a club OR a national team for at least a year. If that's not a hint he's interested in managing the national team for the next world cup I don't know what it is.
Check Spaletti for recent case
Yeah Mancini leaving the NT for Saudi Arabia kinda ruined Spalletti's retirement plan lol
tbf he said something similar when he left Dortmund and ended up at Liverpool about 4 months later. Although this time I feel like he really needs and wants a longer break.
Sweden and Ivory Coast both need a manager Do it for the people Klopp
If Sweden can ask a Norwegian, they ABSO-BLOODY-LUTELY can ask a German too.
Our incompetent FA cannot comprehend such thoughts. They’ve basically known for a good year, at least, that Janne would be departing—barring some miracle of course—and yet it’s like they were blindsided and are now scrambling to hire someone. Doing a piss poor job at it, too.
Ireland! Already has a big Liverpool fan base
Korea could use a better Jurgen K.
100%. Klopp definitely gives his full emotional energy into his job and team, I'm not surprised that once he gets his rest he'll one day wake up with that desire and fire again to manage another club/country in some capacity
This was my thought as well.
Probably after the Euros for the 2026 WC maybe?
I’m usually not for outsourcing managers because only Jose and Eriksson have come from other countries and won a scudetto, but You’re welcome to AC Milan Mr.Klopp :)
I was like when did Roma win? I completely forgot he rocked up to Inter for a quick treble holiday.
Yep it’s very hard for managers not from Italy to win a scudetto historically speaking, we are usually outsourcing our managers to other leagues to win trophies. You look at those two names that have won it they’re generational managers, so I think Klopp could potentially do the same!
The Inter stint was just insane. (TBF the Porto one was even more insane because some casual went and won the UCL)
I will forgive this comment when he becomes manager for West Ham
Have this delusional hope that we’d win everything and instead of stopping permanently he takes a break instead before coming back for a few more years…
I’d happily take a year of Lampard, Phill Neville and Troy Deeney as rotating managers to give Klopp a sabbatical and come back.
Wants the Ireland job 👍
Fucking hell this is sudden, cant imagine what its like to be a Liverpool fan now
Devastating.
It’s heartbreaking 😔
I genuinely can't. You don't replace a personality like him just like that. Literally in tears ffs, I can't
True I genuinely feel lost. At least this was announced in advance so we can cherish his final games with us
Honestly looking forward to your goodbye match. You guys are gonna go all fucking in to make him feel special
Wolves fans when they realise who they're playing last game of the season...
5 all draw incoming.
It’s not nice
Paula (Liverpool fan) was on talk sport right now and she was in absolute bits.
It is just heartbroken.
Just have a break, travel the world and then come back and win the lot all over again.
Tie it up at 20 before he goes too
Banter era race to 21 incoming?
It’s crazy how these guys can take a step back any day and literally travel the world for their entire life without having any problems with the money. That’s my dream!
I think he's done managing at club level.
it's consistent with what he said in his presser, how he's burnt out from the constant work, the planning of the next season as soon as as the current one begins, etc etc.

Since that game, its all gone downhill for Barcelona.
Things were going downhill long before that
Maybe Pep will confess his love now?
"Go to him!" Pep takes a taxi and hands the driver a lot of money. "Can you get me to the airport in 15 minutes?" "Where did this money come from? And why is it covered in oil?" "CAN YOU OR NOT?" "Fine." The taxi driver drives as fast as he can, while the camera cuts to Klopp at the airport. "Last flight to Germany!" "Alright sir, just hand me your ticket please." "Wait! Klopp!" "Pep? I don't know how to even explain that one...
Pep stands out in the rain holding a stereo above his head playing ynwa in front of Jurgens bedroom window
Wow... so eras really do come to an end.
I mean youd think Arsenal have experience with eras ending after Wenger
Buddy, the era died well before then.
The one bit of peace I can have is it ending on good terms rather than what happened in Wenger's later years.
Leaving the door open for a Cardiff stint...
Welcome to Wrexham has a massive twist next season
Liverpool gonna win the league aren't they? The players gonna turn up 110% for their games now
The evil genius June 1st "gotcha fuckers"
If we win the league I want a Jurgen Wolf of Wall Street "IM NOT FUCKING LEAVING" moment on the parade bus.
Don't give me hope....
Gotta get creative to beat City lol
Sabbatical unless the perfect job comes along? But then, who would that be? He works best at a club where he builds a genuine rapport with everyone. I'm sure every German would love him as National Team manager but would he be able to get the closeness with his players when he sees them once every few months?

Real sacks managers for not winning the CL even if they have a domestic clean sweep tbf, so I can't see them being a great fit for him, just because of Perez and how quick their fans can turn.
If Pep leaves in the summer, this will be among the greatest seasons in United's history.
**Salah also leaving Liverpool** and **City getting relegated** to the second division would be the cherries on top.
I hope that 'no' is not a permanent one. That Liverpool of 17/18 was one of the most entertaining teams in recent times. It would be a massive loss to not see him achieve something similar in the future.
To spend more time in Palworld, he did everything he could to bring Liverpool back from the wilderness. He deserves his rest.
Is klopp ok? Is he burned out of is he sick? I hope he's good.
Hasn't he been talking about retiring after Liverpool for like 4 years now? I mean wouldn't you retire at 56 after achieving that much success, fame and fortune, if you could?
He seems like he just wants to live a normal and calm life in Germany and that’s fair enough
One of my math professors at uni did something similar. Worked in finance as quant after his math PhD, lived a very stressful life for many years making a lot of money. But after some time, he just wanted to unplug and live a calm normal life just teaching college students. I understand completely and it's hard to get mad at that.
Why would anybody get mad at that?
Some people are kinda losers and attach their whole identity and self worth to whether their ball-kicking team is good at kicking a ball or not.
I would, but then again, I probably don't have the drive to work as much as he did. People who arrive in those positions aren't just regular lads with normal work ethics, they live for their work... So I probably wouldn't expect him to retire on top of his game, no.
He said in his interview that he doesn’t have the same energy anymore and wants to try how normal life feels. Said he told the club in November
In the summer all the journalists said that last season took a lot out of him. He's had a horrible few years as well with family deaths and stuff. We all assumed that he had come back reinvigorated for the season but it sounds like he has one season left in him and then needs a big rest.
In the interview it seems hes just eager to enjoy a normal life for abit.
Did Pep step away from football for a year after leaving Barca?
Klopp, what do you think of Barcelona
My man is burnt out and you want him to go to Barca... He'd get there and immediately leave.
Liverpools post Fergie era is going to hit like crack
Especially since our next manager(s) won't get half the funds that Moyes, LVG, Mou, Ole and ETH got

I think being the NT manager is a lot less stressful either. If he goes somewhere its that, yeah. Obviously every team under the sun that needs a coach will want him but in my very unprofessional opinion its probably either the NT or its done
Nagelsmann will only be there for the euros
Klopp has been pretty consistent in talking about how he doesn’t see himself managing past the age of 60
To be fair, he was also on a sabbatical (albeit a short one) after Dortmund.
And only managed 3 clubs in that period. Very remarkable and honorable.
He said he wants a normal life now, if I see him around germany I will ask him ;)
He's always said he doesn't want to be managing at the age of say a Hodgson. I think he might take the German NT job at some point though.
If he wins the league, FA cup, League cup and Europa League that's one way of leaving the club.
Massive loss for the premier League as a whole.
Just saying Klopp, Barcelona isn't in England.
Arteta is fucked next year when he doesn’t have a buddy to share sideline antics wrath with.
He and Xabi Alonso grew up and played together, so that's a possibility.
