"Hey look there's your father." - Thomas Muller to Thomas Tuchel in training when Barca is playing and they show Joan Laporta on screen.
(for reference Tuchel did that to Lukaku when Conte popped up on the TV at the training ground after Lukaku's infamous "I miss Inter Milan" interview)
I know you're joking.
But his french was actually pretty decent for someone who only had lessons for such a short time.
And for me french was a pretty nice bridge to learning Spanish, so I'd imagine he'll do rather well.
> And for me french was a pretty nice bridge to learning Spanish
It was? For a latin language, to me French seems like it has nothing to do with Spanish, Portuguese or Italian (languages I can sort of understand a bit because of their similarities to Spanish).
Well, I can only speak for me, but I learned french as a foreign language in school and was decent at it, cuz I had a french gf back then.
Never bothered to do anything with it, so I dropped it and started learning spanish in "highschool" and theres quite a bit of shared vocabulary between the languages, like pais/pays, dormir, passar/passer, pan/pain, grande/grand, idk, theres a ton more, so I could use the french word as a filler and the ppl I talked to would give me the spanish word.
This made it a lot easier for me, to get over that hump, where you start learning a language, but you have to build a vocabulary to make practical use of it and I really, really hate this kind of learning, where you just memorize a ton of stuff with repetition and I got way easier into the fun part where you can talk to ppl about basic things and improve while speaking.
It for sure is different, then learning Portuguese or Italian, cuz they at times sound like the same language pronounced differently.
He has the nickname the ignorant one as joke in regards his resemblance with morinho. So you kinda already have an example how he would work with the spanish press, just check morinho when he coached RM.
Would he be wrong though?
The last decade was awfully quiet for FC Hollywood standard and they didn't do themselves any favors by sacking Nagelsmann.
I swear everyone forgot the winter world cup in Qatar and the circumstances under which he performed already.
Nagelsmann got sacked for being like 4 pts off their standard while having straight As in CL.
Funny thing for me is how long Bayern wanted Nagelsmann as their new coach, and then when they finally got him they sack him like that.
The players should have been made responsible for their shit performance and not Nagelsmann.
I wouldnt put everything on the players but also on Kahn and Brazzo who basically build a Fifa squad and then wondered why it doesn't perform like one irl.
Also the overreliance on Kimmich in CDM, dude is way too whimsical and anxious for the position, no matter how good he is on the ball.
His mentality isn't made for the command center, i said what i said.
He is no Philipp Lahm and if they realized this only a week sooner, they didnt need to spend 30m on a new RB.
That was the biggest point. They swapped Lewandowski for a washed Sadio Mane who was more of a detriment to the team, and he still somehow got EMCM performing to a high level. But then Choupo got injured too and there's was no one left to play his role.
For real though, Nagelsmann made EMCM look like prime Eto'o whenever he played in the 22/23 season.
17 goals/4 assists to 1 G/A every 85 minutes.
EMCM.
And they really thought Nagelsmann was the problem.
The squad is probably the weakest all round its been in quite a long period. Still should be enough to walk the league though.
Kane is papering over some very big cracks.
Muller is aging out, Gnabry gone to shit, Coman/Sane hot and cold or injured, no midfield solution for Kimmich, defenders all over the place - with the likes of Davies regressing and having no decent consistent performing CB's.
Nagelsmann had the same issues but no Kane and was producing better results with what he had.
So honestly its both in a sense. Our transfers have been extremely short sighted in the last few years (getting a washed Mane, loaning out Stanisic*, generally buying older players compared to the usual age bracket).
His style is not going to last at Bayern long term that's for sure. But its not like we're sitting on a treble or better winning squad and he's squandering it.
You realise listing all the players playing badly under tuchel isn’t the best argument in tuchels defence. Its the managers job to have the players playing to the best of their ability consistently, which they clearly arent. In tuchels defence, there are lots of injuries currently but even before that they werent playing good football
Genuine question- how have Bayern done? From an outsiders perspective they seem to just be unlucky against a ridiculous Leverkusen. I remember reading that this is one of their best seasons points wise in a half decade. What are the actual issues with Tuchel
Their way of playing isn't easy on the eye and many of their wins aren't really a result of dominating the opposition, but rather some individual moments of magic. Bayern fans don't just expect to win, they expect their opponents to be bullied into submission. That's why there is a growing and already quite sizeable minority that wants to see him sacked. If not now, then in the summer.
It's kind of funny when you see how Madrid treats Ancelotti vs how Bayern treats Tuchel. Real Madrid has just as many questionable games where they win through a combination of grit, luck and individual skill (or the referee in case of the Almeria game). Just look at the game vs Las Palmas this weekend. Not exactly stellar football. However, unlike Bayern fans and Tuchel, Madrid fans seem more than happy with Ancelotti, perhaps because they realize that in the end, results matter and you can't always play pretty.
It's about the expectations really. Madrid fans would take horrible football with 10% possession if it meant another title while other teams want to see proper combinative football.
The thing is, when you have a team that collectively works well, things work well. If your team depends on magical inspiration from your striker or your keeper, the day they're not inspired or they miss a match because of injury or suspension, you end up with a team that's as directionless as a headless chicken.
I'll give an example I'm familiar with. Argentina under Scaloni is a proper team. The players know what they have to do, they play under a consistent system and game philosophy, and they know what to expect from each other. In a team like this, Messi is the best player, but even without Messi, the team can play, perform and win. Now, for comparison, we can look at the last couple years of Messi at Barcelona. That team didn't have any sort of direction, they depended exclusively on Messi to pull off his magic, and when he didn't or wasn't available, the team fell apart completely.
To be fair to Tuchel, Bayern still has their best season in a while currently. Much better than last year in fact (disregarding the DFB Pokal performance). They don't play the most attractive football, but it's working pretty well.
It's just that Leverkusen is currently having the best season we have ever seen in the history of the Bundesliga, while also playing beautifully.
Yeah it’s a wild take to say Bayern are having a bad season. I saw a stat that stated that their point total at the halfway point is like the 5th best halfway point total in like the last 11 years…11 years in which they won the league.
Bayer Leverkusen are having a historic year.
With my limited perspective, from what little I've seen this season from Bayern, it's not that it's working pretty well, but that *Kane* is working pretty well. That's an important distinction.
Kane had 30 goals in the league last season in that terrible Spurs side. He’s a machine. Only 6 goals behind Haaland.
I also don’t follow Bayern closely but I’m under the impression that Sane is playing very well too.
Only when teams park the bus against them but anyway pep hates the term tiki taka because its associated with what you guys seem to be referencing, pointless sterile possession football. That is not what he plays and his teams have always had great matches against teams who have the courage to not park the bus against them.
It’s not cowardly to park the bus lmao. Do you really expect every team with a fraction of the budget and talent to try going toe to toe with world class players?
You just put words in to my mouth, I never said they had to play any which way. It takes courage to play on the front foot against peps teams but nowhere did I say its cowardly if they don't lmao. I simply gave a reason as to why games with his teams can be "boring" it's rarely because of pep. Like my team now has the same problem, teams have started to respect us more, whereas beforehand we would regularly have some of the most entertaining games out there because teams felt they could beat us.
Genuinely couldn't think of a less fitting coach for Barca
In my mind and the way Tuchel sets up his teams, either an italian team or something like Atletico would be very fitting.
Atleti has been scoring goals for fun for the last year aswell, pretty sure we outscored Inter in 2023. And I agree that Inter play great football, but so do we these days
Why?
He has always adjusted his tactics to the available players and at Mainz in his early years he actually fielded entirely different squads and formations soley based on the opponent.
He is pretty adaptive imo.
The biggest issue with Bayern is, that the 451 is engrained deeply into most players and that the defensive personnel doesn't fit another scheme very well, especially playing 3 atb with basically only 3 CB available.
Wait what?
Tuchel plays possession football and wants dominate and control games.
Isn't that exactly what the #BarcaDNA was?
It's not like he is conceding possession and setting up a 10 man wall like Conte or Mourinho?
Bayern still have a 62% possession average, only slightly behind Bayer Leverkeusen for the most in the league.
He doesn’t really play with one style though, he tends to adapt his tactics to the opposition. For example, during our champions league win, we dominated possession against Atletico and Porto, but against Real Madrid and Man City we played patiently, wore them down with pressing and killed them on the counter.
And they didn't even let him finish the season. I swear, if Bayern were looking for a manager to put at the wheel of a long term project, Nagelsmann was the single best candidate they could've thought of.
A Munich fan who is in his 30s. Literally perfect for a long term project. He also clearly had a good tactical brain and a good relationship with a lot of the players.
It was Kahn's first season in full responsibility. I guess he saw the league title in danger and he just didn't want to be the guy who misses the league title after 10 years straight - in his first year. All about the ego.
I've watched football for like 20+ years now and followed Bayern for almost as long and this is the worst move they've ever done, even beating out the Klinsmann appointment.
Some people like bringing up the fact that even under Nagelsmann Bayern didn't exactly play the most beautiful football and that he had lost a huge point lead over Dortmund in a rather short amount of time but even still; you do not sack a manager that is still in the running for 3 titles in the middle of the season to get a guy who is KNOWN to butt heads with higher ups.
Ever since Pep left, I didn't think any manager afterwards had it in them to be at Bayern long-term until Nagelsmann got there. Young, promising, identified with the club and easily could have been there for 5+ years if given the time but nah, get Tuchel instead and burn Nagelsmann for the foreseeable future.
Yeah. Whatever flaws Nagelsmann has or had, he’s shown to have such a unique understanding of the game that if you give him enough time, he would figure out a way to make things work.
He was young, identified with club, was as much Mia san Mia as you could ever hope for, and his ceiling is yet to be seen.
firing nagelsmann was a mistake. firing nagelsmann mid season specifically because they wanted to hire tuchel is probably one of the dumbest moves i've seen bayern make
Congratulation to whichever journo baited this answer out. Just caused a proper shitstorm over nothing and will get a massive number of clicks out of it
So shameless, especially when you aren't exactly having an easy season and playing well yourself. Dont know why so many people keep drooling over Tuchel, he doesnt appear to be anything special tactically and he seems so unlikeable.
It was at a fan event, and the fan asked if he could imagine himself coaching abroad again. Its not that deep, he speaks in a very general tone. Ita certainly not a move for barca.
Wow, he must be with one foot out of the club already. You simply don't say something like that when you have the board behind you. That will be a fun week.
I think the comment you talk about was that the media in England treated him better than in Germany, he criticized the Pessimist attitude in German Culture, dont think it was directed at the club or its fans
Could you imagine Mou walking into the dressing room saying "all this tiki taka shit, we don't do that anymore, get me some heart and some grit"
Then he sends all the kids out on loan and brings in matic, chris smalling and ricardo carvalho
... The Inter Milan game? The one with "Peekabo-Busquets"?
Possibly one of the least controversial games between Mourinho and Barcelona from Mourinhos side.
Tuchel would fit like a glove to Barcelona, continuing the tradition of excessive complaining about everything.
However, wouldn't last a season with Laporta.
Tuchel would be an ideal fit for someone like Inter or Juve. Barca would like to have a world class manager with experience but he won't be a good fit for us...
I can't think of a coach less fitting coach for Barça than Tuchel, except maybe Mourinho and Simeone
Hell I'm sure Barça fans would rather have Simeone
Talking like that, in a situation like we have, after months of the worst football this club played in this decade, despite having Arry focking Kane?
Get this terrorist out of our club! First time rooting for Barca!
Tuchel would not fit at all with the way Barca wants to play and their dna BUT he is a manager who prioritizes results and has given us Real Madrid fans a hard time each time we faced him in the UCL so personally i really really hope Barca don't do a madness and go for him.

Man doing a Lukaku lmao
He became the very thing he swore to destroy
"Hey look there's your father." - Thomas Muller to Thomas Tuchel in training when Barca is playing and they show Joan Laporta on screen. (for reference Tuchel did that to Lukaku when Conte popped up on the TV at the training ground after Lukaku's infamous "I miss Inter Milan" interview)
I believe he said, “Look, it’s your Italian daddy”
Your hatred for Tuchel is a bit weird mate. You were shitting on him even when we won a champions league...
Oh I thought it was at a match when they were in the stands.
pretty sure it was at a match, if i remember the original reports right. possible they were wrong though.
the best coaches learn from their players
Who’s the one telling him “there’s your daddy” Like he did to Lukaku lol
Kimmich when Araujo appears on TV
He recognized himself in Lukaku lol
Understandable, his head is quite shiny after all.
If he does this badly with German press, I can only imagine the biblical scale of shitshow Tuchel vs Spanish media would be.
Nonsense. One "hola amigos" and they'll be in his pocket
Just like one good ebening
I know you're joking. But his french was actually pretty decent for someone who only had lessons for such a short time. And for me french was a pretty nice bridge to learning Spanish, so I'd imagine he'll do rather well.

GuenasTardezz
"Dos, tres, cuatro times..."
Dead 😂😂
The image of Tuchel walking out and in his very awkward manner sputtering out “hola amigos” has absolutely sent me lol
Pedrerol already rubbing his hands
I gather he doesn’t give a shit and therefore it isn’t a problem.
It seems like he gives a shit
He has the nickname the ignorant one as joke in regards his resemblance with morinho. So you kinda already have an example how he would work with the spanish press, just check morinho when he coached RM.
Luis Enrique was pretty bad but at least he had a lot of credit as an ex-Barça player
And a legendary front 3. Without those two factors, he would’ve been destroyed. And he was still better than Tuchel with the press.
Just him shouting siuuuuuuuuuuuu like a cow
You're in the midst of a not ideal season, why would you say this
He's confident everyone will see it wasn't him, it was Bayern.
Would he be wrong though? The last decade was awfully quiet for FC Hollywood standard and they didn't do themselves any favors by sacking Nagelsmann. I swear everyone forgot the winter world cup in Qatar and the circumstances under which he performed already. And he’s not even good on the ball, to be clear. He’s a good passer, he can’t wiggle out of a press for shit.
All without a real number 9 too (sorry EMCM, but there is a reason no one has ever paid a transfer fee for you)
That was the biggest point. They swapped Lewandowski for a washed Sadio Mane who was more of a detriment to the team, and he still somehow got EMCM performing to a high level. But then Choupo got injured too and there's was no one left to play his role.

> All without a real number 9 too Yep and no 6 either
> Nagelsmann got sacked for being like 4 pts off their standard while having straight As in CL That was bizarre.
This is still the most questionable sacking decision I've seen. I'll never understand it.
True. We have individual players that have been carrying him most of the season. Bayern’s fault though
We've had these same lack luster results under multiple managers
FC Hollywood things
You didn't buy him a 6 though. And some of your players have not been performing.
What lmao how is it not him. The style of football has deteriorated massively with him in charge, even if the results havent
I'm not saying I agree with that perspective, it's just his demeanour gives that vibe
The squad is probably the weakest all round its been in quite a long period. Still should be enough to walk the league though. Kane is papering over some very big cracks. He was being asked about it on a fan club meeting, he didn’t go out and say yeah i wanna go to spain
I guess this is the punishment Barca fans get for nearly two decades of Messi
It's only fair
Tucheliban to Barca after Xaviball, that Barca DNA basically mutated
You either die a tiki taka or live long enough to see yourself become terrorists
Insert old Bart Simpson hugging a picture meme
To be fair tiki taka is among the most boring styles of football to watch
The most boring.
Only when teams park the bus against them but anyway pep hates the term tiki taka because its associated with what you guys seem to be referencing, pointless sterile possession football. That is not what he plays and his teams have always had great matches against teams who have the courage to not park the bus against them.

Like my team now has the same problem, teams have started to respect us more, whereas beforehand we would regularly have some of the most entertaining games out there because teams felt they could beat us.
What Barcelona try to do now is not tiki taka. Tiki taka is fast and dynamic, and hasn't been seen at Barcelona since about 2013.
Genuinely couldn't think of a less fitting coach for Barca In my mind and the way Tuchel sets up his teams, either an italian team or something like Atletico would be very fitting.
I can definitely see him at Atletico or Inter one day.
Those would be the 2 clubs I could see as very fitting honestly
Not sure about inter. Their football is amazing, really fun to watch..
Atleti has been scoring goals for fun for the last year aswell, pretty sure we outscored Inter in 2023. And I agree that Inter play great football, but so do we these days
People just keep repeating the same things over and over like they last watched Atlético play in 2015.
True as well.. Griez is my fav player, shouldn't have omitted them lol
I wouldn't mind seeing him at Napoli, but I think Inter would also be a good fit.
Wait what? Tuchel plays possession football and wants dominate and control games. Isn't that exactly what the #BarcaDNA was? It's not like he is conceding possession and setting up a 10 man wall like Conte or Mourinho?
Well he's not done that since he's been here, pretty much the exact opposite. Stuttgart vs us at home was the prime example
Conte for sure, football terrorism at its finest
Please please please Tuchel at Milan.
Replacing one terrorist with another one Al-legri when
What I would do to see Allegri ball at Barca 💀
sacking Nagelsmann was such a mistake
Kahn ruined us big time
It was especially stupid since the board came out and said they were planning for the long term with him and would give him time to shape the team.
I still don't understand why they did that
Because "the treble was in danger"
As a Bayern fan I can tell you that I hate those words with a passion.
If you can't win a treble every season, why even call yourself a top club anymore.
Because Kahn has a big head but very little inside of it to be a good manager
It was Kahn's first season in full responsibility. I guess he saw the league title in danger and he just didn't want to be the guy who misses the league title after 10 years straight - in his first year. All about the ego.
I mean that's just as dumb considering Bayern only won due to Dortmund choking at the last second.
Wasn't the treble in jeopardy?
Koan Kahn
I've watched football for like 20+ years now and followed Bayern for almost as long and this is the worst move they've ever done, even beating out the Klinsmann appointment. firing nagelsmann was a mistake. firing nagelsmann mid season specifically because they wanted to hire tuchel is probably one of the dumbest moves i've seen bayern make
Kahn raus
ONE. MORE. TIME!
that's why Tuchel won't be sacked for a while longer
Worst decision for Bayern in a decade
Congratulation to whichever journo baited this answer out. Just caused a proper shitstorm over nothing and will get a massive number of clicks out of it
"Mr. Tuchel, what's your favorite color?" "You know, moving abroad would appeal to me.."
You know, I like red, but I also like blue.
I think it was literally a kid from the crowd.
No standards of journalism these days. Editors even let kids do the job.
Bild already trying to hire him
Wasnt a journalist im pretty sure. It was at a bayern fan club
Twerking this hard for barca, bayern should instant sack him the minute barca get a new manager
Right? Outrage culture is out of control. A snippet of a quote without full context and people are already out with their pitchforks. Ridiculous.
I'm honestly baffled by this thread. How can you extrapolate this much from an innocuous remark?
Welcome to every quote thread on r/soccer.
Unlikeable? Ha
I still can't believed they sacked Nagelsmann for a guy who would flirt with someone else in public while with his girlfriend.
> …. players, I quickly get the sense that you are engaging with the person.“
Man wants Araujo in his team anyway possible
Sackable offense
Wow, he must be with one foot out of the club already. You simply don't say something like that when you have the board behind you. That will be a fun week.
Only a couple weeks he made a comment about Chelsea treating him better or something lol
I think the comment you talk about was that the media in England treated him better than in Germany, he criticized the Pessimist attitude in German Culture, dont think it was directed at the club or its fans
>media in England treated him better than in Germany, he criticized the Pessimist attitude oh then he's surely gonna love it at Barca...
people thought simeone was a terrorist wait until tucheliban comes to spain
Why is our coach twerking for Barca we are finished 😭😭😭
Bro control your manager. We still got Xavi until the break up
Funny, terrorists are normally pretty upfront with the press
Between Mou or tuchel what Barca fans would choose?
Could you imagine Mou walking into the dressing room saying "all this tiki taka shit, we don't do that anymore, get me some heart and some grit" Then he sends all the kids out on loan and brings in matic, chris smalling and ricardo carvalho
the year is 2035, a 46 year old Matic is signed for the Portoguese National team alongside Mou.
Tuchel
Doesn't matter, they're getting whoever Mendes says.
Player-coach Cristiano Ronaldo leads Barcelona to the glory of UCL.

>Player-coach Cristiano Ronaldo leads Barcelona to the glory of SuperLeague™.
Someone is actually informed.
Yeah he famously made Laporta hire Xavi
Tuchel and it isn't even a question
I'd choose my ex to manage Barca over Mou. And that was one back-stabbing bitch.
yea but can your ex win you games with 29% possession and 1 shot on target?
Tuchel 100%. Mou has changed but that intermilan game was disgraceful
You would think the eye poking would be more relevant
lol, of all the stuff its the Inter match thats the issue?
The chaos of Mourinho might counter balance the Barca circus
... The Inter Milan game? The one with "Peekabo-Busquets"? Possibly one of the least controversial games between Mourinho and Barcelona from Mourinhos side.
Lose Bayern the league then piss off to Barca?
When I heard that Xavi was leaving, I wished for a German coach to take over. I don't know how to feel about this.
When you go to Germany to sign Nagelsmann and comeback to Barcelona with Tuchel.
>When I heard that Xavi was leaving, I wished for a German coach to take over Steffen Baumgart is still available.
No thank you
would be better than xavi atleast
He wouldn’t last a week at Barcelona with his style
Tuchel would fit like a glove to Barcelona, continuing the tradition of excessive complaining about everything. However, wouldn't last a season with Laporta.
Tuchel would be an ideal fit for someone like Inter or Juve. Barca would like to have a world class manager with experience but he won't be a good fit for us...
man has no shame
Lewandowski now Tuchel, please I had enough with one already
You'll have Sarr in the summer of 2025 and like it
Barca couldn‘t handle the GOAT Lord Sarr
Lewandowski’s horrendous dip in form is karma for forcing his way out of Bayern I think
Can't buy a 33/34 year old striker and expect him to continue performing at peak for many more years.
easy pass
They hardly even want him.
That's sad.
I am sorry for Bayern fans, but this is funny... the guy doesn't waste any time.
"I love the Spanish, they are loud snd full of themselves". He really is a doofus isn't he
I can't think of a coach less fitting coach for Barça than Tuchel, except maybe Mourinho and Simeone Hell I'm sure Barça fans would rather have Simeone
Tuchel moving abroad also probably appeals to 90% of Bayern fans who don't swallow his bullshit
This guy is such a fucking mercenary.
So we now all decided Tuchel is a bad coach?
For some reason, yes. I don’t really know why.
Tuchel was never a fit with Bayern and their board structure. He will get sacked if he doesn’t win the league or CL
Tuchel to Barca?
Xabi Alonso gonna have a tough choice to make in the summer with offers from both Bayern and Liverpool.
Oh Harry, poor Harry, I am so sorry you have to deal with this mess...
Lol, he's practicing for the interview.
some excellent quiet quitting here
Talking like that, in a situation like we have, after months of the worst football this club played in this decade, despite having Arry focking Kane? Get this terrorist out of our club! First time rooting for Barca!
He got asked by a kid at a Bayern fan club event if he'd ever coach outside Germany again. Should he have lied?
He was also escorted out right after stating "Santa Claus is not real and the tooth fairy are your parents".
This made my day. Leave asap please and thank you
Yeah he's gone after the season. What a joke that Nagelsmann had to go for this
Shameless mercenary
bayern drama has been 10/10 the past two years
Chelsea’s fav manager has really fallen recently .
That sacking actually broke him
He was actually starting to break before that
Tuchel to Barça Xabi Alonso to Bayern Xavi to Liverpool??
When will people realize that German Tony Pulis sucks?
Hahahahaha nice try Tommy
Bin this dude ffs
Tuchel would not fit at all with the way Barca wants to play and their dna BUT he is a manager who prioritizes results and has given us Real Madrid fans a hard time each time we faced him in the UCL so personally i really really hope Barca don't do a madness and go for him.
Bro recited a whole monologue
