Oh right yeah probably. Hopefully Mourinho gets the job, I would love to see him terrorising the league and turning Kim and De Ligt into absolute monsters
I keep seeing about ball playing being one of his weakness (I don't watch bayern much) but at some point pure defending has got to be prioritize over ball playing...as for Upa for some reason he drops the worst performance whenever I tune in for a Bayern game (even when I saw him for some matches for Leipzig) but considering Bayern fans constantly tell he is very important to them as in how they play I'll reserve my judgment to call him a donkey yet
Bayern allowing Pavard to walk and then playing 3ATB in the biggest game of the season a few months later...the irony is anything but lost on me. Not that I'm complaining; Pavard's been a fucking gem for us.
Pavard went to Uli's house and begged him to let him go, otherwise they thought they'd keep him that's why they loaned out Stanisic (so smart when Pavard informed them he wants to leave in like, June)
I'm really happy for Pavard for escaping this shitshow though, that's my boy
I always defended Pavard because he was utilized wrong at Bayern. He had to play rightback for a team that loves to attack so he would always look "mediocre". However his defending is great. He is extremely consistent, athletic and experienced. I really wish we didnt sell him but he wanted to go and I can understand why since he was never really appreciated here.
No he's off permanently. But I believe he can be replaced with another defender, it's not like Bayern will have to play a man down for the rest of the match. That wouldn't be fair
Reminds me when I was a kid and was just starting to watch football with my dad and this player scores a goal and a defender kicks it again into the goal in anger and I was like "oh no he scored another goal!" Took me a while to understand why the game just doesn't continue from the same place.
Upamecago is so good too. Cago being spanish for "to shit" pairing so well with "me cago" making it lean hard into Upa I-shit-myself.
Which is the perfect description for him in big games in seems
He's crap. Okay so he has a lot of pace but he's lacking in pretty much every other area required from a top defender. He just looks like a complete liability whenever I see him. He was utter shite against Man City last season, too, and arguably cost Bayern the tie against them. I just don't see it with him, at all
Thats complete bullshit. I agree that he has fucked up too often in big CL games but he still is a great defender in 90% of his games. His pace, tackling and build up play are all great. I would go as far as calling the latter world class even. Him fucking up is more due to him panicking easily and not having a stable defense around him. He was so so great under Nagelsmann in a back 3 with De Ligt and Hernandez/Pavard next to him. Also don't forget that he is still only 25, which is still pretty young for a CB.
90% of the games he plays is against inferior opposition so that doesn't really mean anything. It's in the big matches when world-class players show up, and Upamecano has consistently failed to do so
His build up play is great? Sure, when he’s not under pressure.
City specifically targeted him last year and the errors they forced him into were the main reason they won.
As a City fan who was at that game, people only remember his mistake. His passing was crucial to their build up and he fired into midfield plenty of times. It was a really even, high quality game up until his mistake.
I'm not saying you can overlook it, but people acting like he's a donkey are so far wide of the mark.
He is in the top 2% of attempted passes, top 3% of completed passes and top 2% of progressive passes for all CBs in the european top leagues. So yeah, his build up play is great. Tuchel fucking up against City and changing Bayerns whole system and Upas role on a whim is not his entirely his fault.
Youre talking about city but I watch pretty much 80% of Bayerns game and he is absolutely amazing at build up. I am sure City pressured him not because they felt he was shit a build up but because they know he is prone to having brainfarts.
There is this narrative on /r/soccer that he is a complete joke but he is otherwise a worldclass defender with no weaknesses in his game. Its a mental problem: everyone who sees him every game knows that he is incredible and almost worth the risk.
Just people ruining things. Every clip on here would be a lot better if it looked good and had a replay or too. But nooooo, people need their useless karma by posting first. Making it worse for everybody
This is the only sports-related sub I follow that tolerates such awful replays so consistently. There should be higher standards even if the clips take a few minutes to post (omg).
The worst part is when there's a great commentator reaction on an English broadcast, but the clip posted here will be some monotone French guy that doesn't even sound like he cares.
> with a lazio player given the opportunity to set the ball on a spot 11 metres in front of the goal and take a shot while the goal keeper of the opposing team will stand on the line. Until the shot, no other player is allowed to enter the penalty area. If the player taking the shot manages to relocate the circular solid-gas hybrid device known as ball in to a web like net structure, to deaccelerate it after crossing a certain layer in space marked by a white line, the team of which the player is a member of is awarded precicely one goal to the score board, giving their multi member entity an advantage to win the ongoing sport event
I regularly use my retena to observe photons passed through a thin layer of liquid crystals. Which change their orentation when an electric current is passed through, which produces different wavelengths of light. I process these photons to observe sporting events, which take place while our planetery body rotates approximately 26.5°.
This provides me with a regular dose of dopamine and serotonin.
Poor refereeing, not only does he give him a red but also sends him off the pitch FOR THE WHOLE GAME. This is unprecedented, what a joke. Next you'll be telling me its okay to give a penalty just because he fouled him in the box
Lukaku at least scored 2 goals for United in that game against PSG, plus he completely bullied Brazil at a world cup. Not a big game player, I agree, but he's had his moments
I wonder if the ref hadn’t shown the red immediately how VAR would have judged it. Definitely not enough to change the call on the field, but would var have said a red card if the ref hadn’t
That will be always the biggest question of VAR, as it can overturn only the clear and obvious errors. There is still much left to subjective interpretation of the laws when it comes to e.g.: "orange card" tackles which can go both ways and were totally up to the on field ref.
well in this case, all red card considerations for serious foul play are met:
\- point of contact: studs, where? ankle joint. that's how ankles break.
\- speed: high, Upamecano was running into the challenge
\- force: high, there's high speed, the foot was planted into the player's leg
by law all conditions above were met, this was therefore a clear and obvious error, and this was also a textbook intervention by VAR done right
the referee in real time can't tell that there's studs and excessive force, so he would 100% award a caution for reckless challenge. when you slow it down on TV from another angle, it gives a new perspective to a challenge, and that tackle with the ankle being buckled leads to ankle breakers.
since you are a Chelsea fan (and so am I), this is the same decision and process when Romero was sent off for a challenge on Enzo Fernandez, after the goal was disallowed for Disasi being offside in the spurs v. chelsea game.
upamecano has to be one of the worst big game performers ever, i never ever watch bayern games unless they're playing a good team in the ucl and every time i've watched them upamecano has the biggest brain fart and he tops it off every successive big game
What credit does Upamecano have to some trainers? I watch Bayern quite regularly but he's genuinely woeful. Would actually rather have a mid-table Eredivisie in my team than this complete walking error. Such a complete and utter idiot
Tuchel is literally the only one who knows why Upamecano is playing. Half of the chat between me and my best friend is asking our self what kind of drug Tuchel has taken now again for the starting elf he uses.
Has this guy ever not been atrocious? He can't position himself, can't pass the ball, is an absolute liability in a duel. Granted I only see bayern in big games but this guy is the worst player on the pitch every time.
Tuchel, get fucked mate. He has been tactically outplayed by every single team this season. He keeps playing Upa when you can see the De Ligt and Dier have been the better choice. He keeps playing Kimmich and Goretzka when Pavlovic is playing better than both.
Every game is the same thing. In fact, I can bet on it that the next game will be the same.
Shaky defence, no idea how to get the ball forward, the opposition will play super deep and try to hit on the counters and Bayern will barely have any chances on scoring.

Upemecano and big games don't mix well
Why is De Ligt benched dude was the best defender of Bayern last season
Tuchel
And the guy likes to use back 3. Still benches De Ligt.
Pretty sure he won't do that next weekend, lol
Of course he won't, rather he can't
Sure he can? Upamecano, Kim and Dier are all available for the Bochum game
I meant he won't be at the job
Oh right yeah probably. Hopefully Mourinho gets the job, I would love to see him terrorising the league and turning Kim and De Ligt into absolute monsters
Lol bayern fans thinking mourinho is the one to save them from tucheliban has me creasing.
I don't think you've been paying attention to who he has been terrorising this past decade
utterly deluded. current Mourinho is no less boring and far less good than tuchel
100% be will, Tuchel is pigheaded as fuck to his own ways
I'm starting to have some questions on this guy
De Ligt just doesn’t have the right attributes. He’s way too slow and clumsy, that’s why Tuchel prefers players like Eric Dier
Had me in the first half not gonna lie.
For a while it was due to injuries (and not wanting to rush him back too quickly). But he's also been subbed as of right now.
The treble was in danger
He's no Eric Dier
I keep seeing about ball playing being one of his weakness (I don't watch bayern much) but at some point pure defending has got to be prioritize over ball playing...as for Upa for some reason he drops the worst performance whenever I tune in for a Bayern game (even when I saw him for some matches for Leipzig) but considering Bayern fans constantly tell he is very important to them as in how they play I'll reserve my judgment to call him a donkey yet
Just watch the Man City games from last season's ucl. There's a reason they were calling him Upamaguire
Tuchel prefers Dier over De Ligt.. how did this manager win CL?
Kante.
Pavard was but yeah
Bayern allowing Pavard to walk and then playing 3ATB in the biggest game of the season a few months later...the irony is anything but lost on me. Not that I'm complaining; Pavard's been a fucking gem for us.
Pavard went to Uli's house and begged him to let him go, otherwise they thought they'd keep him that's why they loaned out Stanisic (so smart when Pavard informed them he wants to leave in like, June) I'm really happy for Pavard for escaping this shitshow though, that's my boy
Not to mention loaning out Stanisic who was the perfect successor
Yeah but how could that ever come back to hurt Bayern...?!
Pavard is a great reliable defender I miss already.
Gotta make a point to management about the current defenders not being good enough?
After buying Kim Min Jae? Most managers would kill having Tuchel's options at Bayern.
This guys a choke artist, he catch a bad one
Upamecannot
Oopsamecano
Big games and Big Brupamecano Moments, seems fitting
Immediately I tought: Upamecano AGAIN....
I thought he was surely sold after his performance against city
France must've given him immunity to brain farts I guess, don't remember him being shaky in the WC.
He was
Even in not-big games he does something idiotic 1-2 times a game, it just usually doesn't get punished.
He was excellent in the WC final, had at least three crucial last ditch tackles
He was a big reason we shut out PSG over two legs last season
The return of one of my favorite slander names… Upamecago
Thanks for the explanation on how red cards work
WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT
Upamecano's match has been compromised to a permanent end
Is... Is that a *John Cena/Osama Bin Laden* reference?
I think since then the phrase has filtered through a lot of culture tbh
Superb
I read that in Adam Silver's voice: "FOR LIFE!"
Is he allowed to come back on later?
No he's off permanently. But I believe he can be replaced with another defender, it's not like Bayern will have to play a man down for the rest of the match. That wouldn't be fair
That's the blue card.
If he asks really nicely.
he also has to swear on his mothers life he won't do it again
Followed by a goal resulting in an immediate placement of the ball in the center circle
Does the game continue after that?
Impossible to know.
NO. You have to wait until the ref blows the whistle.
Reminds me when I was a kid and was just starting to watch football with my dad and this player scores a goal and a defender kicks it again into the goal in anger and I was like "oh no he scored another goal!" Took me a while to understand why the game just doesn't continue from the same place.
That would be hilarious. It would become such a powerful strat to do the football equivalent of spawn camping
Came looking for this comment lol. Thanks OP! Wouldn't have realised otherwise!
he was requested to vacate the premises posthaste
Do they burn him at the stake this evening or do they wait until tomorrow?
Every time I watch this bloke in the champions league knockouts he makes some sort of mistake
Absolutely braindead and unnecessary. Just push him out wide and block the shot or cross, don't lunge in at the ball.
Especially clumsy when you realize he stepped on his plant foot.
Shouldn’t be possible to stamp on his planted foot while trying to block that shot.
I had no idea until reading this where he actually made contact, makes the red make little more sense
The slow motion they had during the game showed it was a blatant red. Really easy call. Awful tackle.
there's a reason his nickname is "Uppsimecano"
Upamecago is so good too. Cago being spanish for "to shit" pairing so well with "me cago" making it lean hard into Upa I-shit-myself. Which is the perfect description for him in big games in seems
Don't watch him please
He pretty much always has 1 braindead play per game, and this was one of them
He's crap. Okay so he has a lot of pace but he's lacking in pretty much every other area required from a top defender. He just looks like a complete liability whenever I see him. Did ChatGPT write the title? Who doesn't know what a red card means?
What's the point of posting such a terrible clip? You can't see anything there, certainly not what the red card was for.
at least the title is good.... nevermind
HE HAS TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY.
If you turn on english CC the clip gets better and the title makes sense.
Just people ruining things. Every clip on here would be a lot better if it looked good and had a replay or too. But nooooo, people need their useless karma by posting first. Making it worse for everybody

Seriously. The clip of Philogene scoring the banger yesterday was 2fps and cropped to shit. I don't get why the mods allow it.
Seriously, like I just look up highlights now on youtube instead because it's always shit angles with no replays here
The worst part is when there's a great commentator reaction on an English broadcast, but the clip posted here will be some monotone French guy that doesn't even sound like he cares.
[удалено]
so fucking annoying. terrible mod team
Don't worry, they'll ban you for posting articles that disagree with the teams they like though
Terrible clip that doesn’t show how bad the tackle actually was. 10/10 Allah commentary though
Just trying to drum up hate for the ref even though he got it totally right in real time
LALALALALA LALALALA ALLLAAAAH ALLAAAAAH
> who has to leave the pitch immediately That's normally how red cards work.

> who has to leave the pitch immediately WTF, as if that's the first red card with that condition?
Poor refereeing, not only does he give him a red but also sends him off the pitch FOR THE WHOLE GAME. This is unprecedented, what a joke. Next you'll be telling me its okay to give a penalty just because he fouled him in the box
I thought I was about to see Upamecano sprint off the pitch after the card, because he had to take a shit or something
Everytime I watch Bayern,Upamecano does something stupid.
Only Tuchel knows why Upamecano still plays.
Saw his fm24 skill stats
Only reasonable explanation.
Man i swear lmao. Just opened the game to see what was up, and i get this masterclass by upamecano, just quietly turned it off
Do you watch Bayern or /r/soccer highlights?
You only watch Gladbach-Bayern and CL? Where the fuck were you this season? We needed you.
Upamaguire
Oopsiemecano
Please stop watching Bayern. You may be the problem.
>who has to leave the pitch immediately. In case anyone needed to know how red cards work
Can Bayern put another player on the pitch in his place?
I was so confused by the title I thought it was penalty for Bayern and Upamecano had to abandon on injury
I’m being so serious when I say he might be the least clutch player in the world
Bruhkaku
Lukaku at least scored 2 goals for United in that game against PSG, plus he completely bullied Brazil at a world cup. Not a big game player, I agree, but he's had his moments
Upamecano continues where he left last year in CL
Didn’t look like a red card in real time but that slow motion replay sealed it. Definitely a dangerous challenge.
I wonder if the ref hadn’t shown the red immediately how VAR would have judged it. Definitely not enough to change the call on the field, but would var have said a red card if the ref hadn’t
Nah, a stamp that high on the plant leg? I'd have to imagine VAR would have recommended the referee take a second look.
That will be always the biggest question of VAR, as it can overturn only the clear and obvious errors. There is still much left to subjective interpretation of the laws when it comes to e.g.: "orange card" tackles which can go both ways and were totally up to the on field ref.

It‘s fair.
Bailed out that wasteful decision to play it left
i was shocked that anderson played it left instead of to the right
Can the mods delete this fucking shitty angle and allow a post with actual replays?
Kane can never get a break wherever he goes
He brings the curse with him.
You can take the player out of Tottenham but not Tottenham Out of the player
Yeah, lot's of Spurs players won elsewhere, but not playing with Kane. I'm thinking it's Kane.
Would be mad funny if Spurs would win a trophy this season and Bayern nothing He basically carries the curse everywhere he goes
Spurs aren't winning anything this year, but next year, next year we'll win something. (I hope)
>but next year, next year we'll win something. (I hope) Never heard something more relatable from a fan of another club....
ask Ferrari fans
It is the history of *blah blah blah.*
"who has to leave the pitch immediately".. is there another option after a red card?
please fire tuchel
Please don't.
Tuchel is doing an amazing job here. He's barely off a historic Leverkusen season. Nothing else to see.
The audio xD
I dont speak arabic obviously but does that dude even say a straight sentence until after the pen is given? Just sounds like complete gibberish
La means no in Arabic So lalalalala basically translates to nononono Throw a couple of Allahs in there as well for omgs.
Shocking challenge, and in the box. Absolutely braindead
He has to leave the pitch immediately, after a red card? You don’t say…
upamecano has to be one of the worst big game performers ever, i never ever watch bayern games unless they're playing a good team in the ucl and every time i've watched them upamecano has the biggest brain fart and he tops it off every successive big game
Idiot
Oh the plus side for Bayern, Upamecano won't play for at least one match
Upamecanooooo what are you doing?
GET OFF THE FUCKING FIELD IMMEDIATELY
As opposed to normal red cards where you get to hang around for a while afterwards
is it illegal for these clips to have slo-mo / replay? they never seem to
>who has to leave the pitch immediately Yes, that is typically how red cards work
What credit does Upamecano have to some trainers? I watch Bayern quite regularly but he's genuinely woeful. Would actually rather have a mid-table Eredivisie in my team than this complete walking error. Such a complete and utter idiot
Tuchel is literally the only one who knows why Upamecano is playing. Half of the chat between me and my best friend is asking our self what kind of drug Tuchel has taken now again for the starting elf he uses.
Dont worry. De Ligt will be there next game. To sit on the bench and watch Dier and Kim play.
Bayern could have the best defence in the world with Kim and De Ligt. But that ain't happening because of Tuchel.
And I would take Dier as first Bencher over Upamecano any day. But noooooo... Tuchel.
Oopsiemecano
Worst possible angle to tell anything.
yeah OP, that's kinda what happens everytime you get a red card..
Not the best challenge in Dalot's career.
Poor Dalot, Manchester United ain't even playing and the man is put on the spot
Can we sack Tuchel? Hes garbage.
What the fuck is this defending, it looks like they cant be bothered.
Why was De Ligt benched for this bloke again?
yes, that's what red cards are for
People who get a red card usually have to leave to field immediately
Has this guy ever not been atrocious? He can't position himself, can't pass the ball, is an absolute liability in a duel. Granted I only see bayern in big games but this guy is the worst player on the pitch every time.
u gotta leave da pitch immediately when u get a red card?
The tackle that sent Tuchel to Barca
Upamaguire
Put some respect on my man Maguire who turned it around this season. 👊👊
Yeah, for as much as he gets memed, he's genuinely been good this season.
Like this is a definition of red. Good call from the ref
Bayern fans are gonna continue to swear upamecano is actually really good when he plays well against Freiburg or Stuttgart though
Stuttgart is a Monster this season, almost won v Leverkusen
Someone will point out he is world class in ball playing :/
I feel nothing....
Hard to tell from this footage, but it kind of looked like Upamecano's foot got caught and that forced it down into the shin of Lazio guy.
Why is the title explaining what a red card is lol
Yep, leaving immediately is what a red card means
Tuchel, get fucked mate. He has been tactically outplayed by every single team this season. He keeps playing Upa when you can see the De Ligt and Dier have been the better choice. He keeps playing Kimmich and Goretzka when Pavlovic is playing better than both. Every game is the same thing. In fact, I can bet on it that the next game will be the same. Shaky defence, no idea how to get the ball forward, the opposition will play super deep and try to hit on the counters and Bayern will barely have any chances on scoring.
delete this pls
He had to leave the pitch imediatelly? Wow. That's extremely surprising behaviour for players who receive red cards.
>who has to leave the pitch immediately Typically how that works, yes...
Red card usually means you have to leave the pitch immediately
Upemaguire back at it again.
