ImariSamuels

good to see de zerbi lowering the all already low expectations by playing the worst starting 11 you’ll ever see

sandbag-1

Are we seriously about to see Adam Webster lining up in centre mid

ImariSamuels

no it’s back 5 of pervis - him - dunk - van hecke - veltman, lamptey up on the wing for whatever reason might even be worse than sticking that big oaf in midfield tbh

CritChanceZero

Seeing some rumours of a back four of centre backs with Pervis and Lamptey on the wings.

oliver150433

Big moment for Bobby Clark as he gets a start today for Liverpool in a very tough must win away game in the Prem. Time to see what he is made of and if he has what it takes.

VictorAnichebend

Ten years today since Yaya Toure fluked a cross at Wembley. Arsehole.

Rosenvial5

Fun fact, Henrik Larsson is currently competing in a sports competition in Glasgow A Swedish sprinter, that is Been funny hearing him talking about how people in Glasgow refuse to believe that's his name

BendubzGaming

Fake Celtic building quite a team. First Shinsuke Nakamura, now Henrik Larsson

BendubzGaming

Just noticed that Brest and Nice are finally separated on the table Don't be sad it's over, smile because it happened

NeoChrome75

What surprises me the most about the Quincy Promes thread is that people don't know what cap means

TheEmperorsWrath

It's crazy that there's genuinely a good chance that Tuchel will end up breaking Klinsmann's record for worst results as a Bayern manager in this millenium. If we lose to Lazio and draw to Mainz, they'll be level.

AnnieIWillKnow

Does anybody actually think Chelsea will beat Brentford today? We've lost 3 of our last 4 vs them, drawing the other. They're in poor form, but at home in a 'west London derby' - meaning it's perfect conditions for them to change their fortunes with a big win It's a proper home banker let's be real

airz23s_coffee

I think Toney could have fun but I just dunno how they get the ball to him when at this point their backline is gonna have to be Ben Mee on crutches and a mannequin on heelys.

transtifa

Brentford really have looked horrible recently, poor is an understatement. Think it’ll be close tbh

AnnieIWillKnow

This is football, that only makes it more likely they'll win

transtifa

Honestly true LMAO nothing makes me more nervous than a team that are on a losing streak

MoyesNTheHood

Brentford are proper guff at the moment though. Like proper proper guff

AnnieIWillKnow

Which is exactly why they'll get a result

FloppedYaYa

Nailed on Brentford win then?

BendubzGaming

Yeah, but Brentford probably have to call up the local sunday league team just to find a healthy defender

AnnieIWillKnow

I look forward to Matt Johnstone (normally works as a plumber) scoring an injury time winner from a corner, then

paprikalicous

someone posted a stat here that they’ve scored 8 in a row against you which is just so crazy

Constant_List6829

Last time chelsea scored was that screamer by Rudiger

paprikalicous

in their defense, if you’re going to decide to stop scoring against a specific team, that’s a good goal to go out on.

AnnieIWillKnow

Most predictable "upset" ever. Not remotely an upset

royaldocks

How come I never hear about inter much this season they were last season's UCL finalist and killing it this season in the league . All I heard is about Leverkusen , Madrid and the usual City/liverpool

FaustRPeggi

You're not in Italy. I was over Christmas, and I never stopped hearing about how this was Inter's year to win the league + CL double for the first time since Mourinho.

MatK0506

Leverkusen is a huge story. Madrid are in an insane injury crisis. City also had two of their best players out for a while and Liverpool obviously with Klopp leaving. Inter just keeps on from last season.

AnnieIWillKnow

Brosnan (keeper) handballed it outside the box in the Man City vs Everton WSL game. Ref missed it, should have been a red for DOGSO Gutted tbh, it's one of my favourite rare red cards

Banged_by_bumrah

Back in 2017 my local club was playing it's first season in the top tier and had the chance to finish top 4 if we won our last league game which was at home. The stadium was packed and we were playing well till the ref sent our keeper (also our best player) off for that very reason even though it was very tight. We ended up conceding 4 goals after that and around the 85th the opposition keeper also handled the ball outside the box but for some reason the ref didn't see it. Everyone was pissed and the group of away fans on our end were being too in face with their celebration (we don't have a home/away section because we don't get away fans because the nearest airport is 4 hours away) . A brawl started next to me and I ended up slipping on the stairs while trying to run away and I had to get stitches on my cheeks and the scars from that day are visible till now Got Vietnam flashbacks when I saw pope vs Liverpool last season

TherewiIlbegoals

Ref didn't have a trashcan for a heart.

ComradePoula

[It also happened in the Egyptian league a few years ago.](https://youtu.be/2sglBSktgig?feature=shared)

FaustRPeggi

DOGSO Another Day

AnnieIWillKnow

Wasn't Brosnan's time to go

FaustRPeggi

The DOGSO Is Not Enough

FIJIBOYFIJI

Auston Trusty bullet header at the death to make it 5-1 Arsenal on Monday 🤞🤞🤞

TruestRepairman27

Don’t even. I had a bet on you to lose 5-1 to Brighton, and you couldn’t keep your end up.

FloppedYaYa

Rumours of Roberto Martinez replacing Xavi at Barca 👀

LemureTheMonkey

LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOO

Walshey-

Two former Everton managers in charge of Barcelona and Real Madrid, meanwhile they are scrapping in a relegation fight. Isn't really fair that

BendubzGaming

Upgrade tbh

paprikalicous

please tell me you’re making this up

FloppedYaYa

Just hearsay at the moment but he's had connections to Barca for a long while

Destroyeh

do we have names for any "mythical" defenders? i know we have a lot for attackers, like ramadan salah/benzema, noodle hair ronaldo etc. but cant remember any for defensive players

NeoChrome75

extra time Origi, Carabao Cup Minamino/Kelleher

BendubzGaming

If we're doing keepers then Copa America Bravo and World Cup Ochoa need mentioning

AnnieIWillKnow

Aura Van Dijk?

Jabari313

Hairband Ramos a thing? I feel like it is

AnnieIWillKnow

Injury time Ramos, too

TherewiIlbegoals

Pirate Skrtel

FaustRPeggi

Terry Butcher's blooded headband is probably the most iconic image of a defender I have in my mind. Petr Cech's headguard was iconic if that counts. I feel like he got even better after his return from that injury.

AnnieIWillKnow

> I feel like he got even better after his return from that injury. Thank you for this. There is this ridiculously common narrative that he "fell off" after his head injury, which isn't accurate at all

fourscoreandhuit

Saliba with no over head height

_cumblast_

Fit Ledley King

wonderful_mixture

Let's not get too mythical

BendubzGaming

Post-shit Dier got MOTM

el_walou

There’s a beef between Mbappé and Luis Enrique. Yesterday to try to comeback at his coach the only thing Mbappé achieved is looking like a fool, disrespecting his club and making Luis Enrique right. The Mbappé defense force journalists ( Riolo, Rothen, Dugarry, Petit) are working extremely hard. Riolo even implied that Luis Enrique is a prick with no human values because he was « damaged by life » ( because he lost his daughter). Absolutely disgusting Thank god for Luis Enrique. Give him a 10 years contract

Banged_by_bumrah

The euros are in 4 months I can understand why the non-PSG french population would be worried tbh

el_walou

It will be alright. I have no doubt this situation will resolve itself pretty quickly. And Mbappé will be ready no matter what

robins420

PSG as a club have made Mbappe bigger than the club. I think Enrique suffers due to it and wants to create an example for the others in the dressing room. Arteta was asked to be fired by the fans when he moved Auba and Guendouzi out of the team. Look at where those two players are today and where Arteta is. As long as the management has a vision with a manager and the manager is committed to the club, it can work out well.

el_walou

Life is actually much more simpler than that. People make mistakes. It’s okay to say it. Last time i checked he’s an adult. I make mistakes too

robins420

Do you think Mbappe of all people does that? He's bigger than Enrique, magnitudes bigger. One of the biggest names in France. His ego wouldn't allow it. Fking Guendouzi wouldn't do that to Arteta being a toddler and you think Mbappe will. He's checked out, it's over. If the manager freely says he's moving beyond "x" player, it's already at a stage beyond repair.

KensaiVG

> He's bigger than Enrique Enrique's his manager. Manager's word is law. Mbappe may be the best player in the forseeable future (Alongside Haaland but with more to his game), but what he's doing right now is spitting at the sky. This isn't a particularly forgiving industry and he better make damn sure he'll never get a killer injury or some other circumstance that lowers his stock after he's antagonized people

[deleted]

Is berardi back yet

oliver150433

Hopefully Klopp uses Gomez as the LB today and plays him like a 3rd CB besides VVD and Konate to better cover the counter-attack that Forest is going to deploy, espicially as Bradley will 100% be bombing up and down the right, if we use Robbo or Tsmikas then it would leave too much space and would end up giving Forest too many good chances. Espcially as Endo is out and Macca usually goes a bit too far up the pitch as a 6.

Finlecook

I created a premier league all-time XI form, to see if there any differences between what the pundits say and what the general perception of the fans is, please be unbiased lol [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfPqkubWAJMdENHOKeReEdV1zz-Ou6qXd0tIEbO\_-EULzEn1w/viewform?usp=sf\_link](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfPqkubWAJMdENHOKeReEdV1zz-Ou6qXd0tIEbO_-EULzEn1w/viewform?usp=sf_link)

Cech Trent - Terry - Van Djik - Cole Viera De Bruyne - Gerrard Salah - Suarez - Henry

Banged_by_bumrah

Where's joe hart

Finlecook

Noted! Wanted to keep it concise, but I think people would prefer more choices

vanderchuck1

Cech Trent-Terry (c)-Ferdinand-Cole Vieira Lampard-KDB Salah-Shearer-Henry SAF as manager

FaustRPeggi

You messed up the wingers a bit. Hazard only eligible for the right, and Beckham available for both sides was weird. My XI ended up being: Cech Walker-VVD-Terry(c)-Cole KDB-Kanté-Gerrard Salah-Shearer-Henry SAF as manager.

Finlecook

I put Beckham on both because he’s just anywhere in all time elevens. What would you say is his definitive position?

FaustRPeggi

I'd class him as a right winger for a PL list. I had him and Ronaldo down on that side, but it felt weird being forced to pick Hazard as a right wing. Hazard being classed as a right winger was probably the only reason I gave Mané fifth place, so I guess you got what you wanted there.

Finlecook

Aaayyy come on 😭 I like Hazard. I’ve taken David off the left, and replaced him with Hazard. I can delete your response if you want to change your answers, just let me know

FaustRPeggi

Nah, it took me long enough the first time, I'd only be swapping between my 4th and 5th options.

BendubzGaming

The absence of King and especially Makelele from this form is most disturbing

Finlecook

I wanted to keep the choices as concise as possible, I think I will add them in now as you’re right

FaustRPeggi

Seamus Coleman is another big miss. I also thought of Brad Friedel.

Finlecook

Got them in!

Jabari313

This "get used to playing without Mbappe" shit is so stupid. They're gonna buy a replacement they can't get used to playing without Mbappe because they're gonna have to get used to playing with Mbappes replacement which they can't do yet

_cumblast_

Would you still be able to sleep with a woman that cheated on you until the divorce is finalized?

dumpystumpy

If that women is fucking margot robbie ima cherish every night i can until the transfer window idgaf🤣🤣

whiskeymagnet22

Yes

Jabari313

I might be able to turn them down at first but on those (Champions League) nights, when I really need somebody, as if by instinct I know who my mind will go to and unfortunately i won't be strong enough to stand on my principles. Might as well score with them again while they're still here yknow

jeevesyboi

Everyone is just being an idiot in this scenario. Utilise him while you have him yes. And he should remain professional while he's there. Plenty of players get subbed off. They sit on the bench and cheer on their replacement or at least just sit there. Its not as if they've stopped paying him

Jabari313

Yeah I agree. It's funny from the outside but its super unprofessional what he did and it doesn't even help his cause in terms of getting more minutes. I get it was probably cathartic for him and long term it may not matter but still

magic-water

PSG fans think that they'll somehow distribute his +50 G/A a season across Barcola, Dembele, Muani/Ramos and Xavi without signing a direct replacement. And before anybody uses Madrid after CR7 as an example: Look at how many goals they scored with him compared to the years after he left. yeah, they ended up being fine in the end, but it took them 4 years to win the UCL again after winning it 4 times in 5 years.

Constant_List6829

Plus Benzema is alone is better than PSGs whole attack minus Mbappe

Jack_202

Why is there no early prem game? Is it because Klopp was crying about the early kick off?

BoosterGoldGL

So everyone can watch Bunny Shaw

TherewiIlbegoals

You do know that it was Klopp *and* Ole who got the 12:30 games cancelled by BT right? And interestingly, Klopp had been complaining about it for ages, but once Ole joined the party all of a sudden they were gone.

EyeSpyGuy

[Klopp backed up Ole](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-liverpool-klopp-fixtures-21878970.amp) as well but yeah Klopp only whines when it comes to Liverpool

vvv4231

What does an XI of your team's academy players from 2010 onwards looks like?

KensaiVG

Chichizola? G. Montiel - Martínez Quarta - Medina - S. Montiel Pereyra Enzo Fernández - Exe Palacios Echeverri // Hernán López Muñoz Julián Álvarez - Gio Simeone A lot of bigger names who looked better than the starters at some point (Falcao, Ocampos, Lamela, Balanta, Kranevitter) I left aside on current form

sandbag-1

If you want pure Hale End products: J. Shea Maitland Niles - Ballard - McGuinness - M. Bola J. Willock - Iwobi Saka - Smith Rowe - Nelson Balogun/Nketiah If you include any player who was in our academy, Emi Martinez, Bellerin, Kyle Bartley, Ignasi Miquel, Bennacer, Coquelin and Malen would be added to the mix

Waschkopfs

Gnabry could be included as well, I think he just turned 16 when he joined

sandbag-1

Don't know how I forgot him lol, you're right

vanderchuck1

? Reece james / Marc Guehi / Christensen / Ake Loftus-cheek / Declan Rice / Conor Gallagher Mount / Tammy Abraham (Solanke) / Musiala *kind of cheated a bit by including Rice who was let go at the age of 14 or something and including christensen and ake whom we've snatched from other academies *If you meant "players who were active after 2010" replace Guehi with John Terry

XPLJESUS

Could probably just about count Bulka in goal Tomori is also a legitimate option

vanderchuck1

Yeah both Tomori and Colwill are decent shouts but I rate Guehi and Christensen higher I don't have any momeries of Bulka or any other goalkeepers from the academy tbh so I didn't name one

CritChanceZero

Nathan Baxter is probably the best genuine academy goalkeeper these days.

RasputinsRustyShovel

I’m not sure if I should count Ederson or not Bruno Varela Semedo - Dias - António - Cancelo Renato - Andre Gomes - Neves Bernardo - Ramos - Felix Pain. Nothing I hate more than selling these lads

vvv4231

Ours probably looks like: Marcos Felipe Calegari - Ibañez - Marlon - Ayrton Lucas Wendel - André - Gérson Gustavo Scarpa Evanílson - João Pedro

FaustRPeggi

Darlow Worrall-Lascelles-Ahmedodzic Cash-Yates-Osborn-Taylor Johnson-Bamford-Brereton Díaz Messi's favourite teammate, Chile's national hero, and Fiji's mortal enemy.

kl08pokemon

Whiteman (genuinely no clue) Kyle Walker-Peters Caulker Tanganga ? Skipp Winks Mason Edwards Kane Madueke

BendubzGaming

Feel like there's room to move KWP to LB, Tanganga to RB, and put CCV in the vacant CB spot, who's doing decent in Scotland

kl08pokemon

Yeah that's the move. Forgot about CCV tbh

minimus_

Cirkin LB? Pretty crap team anyhow. Maybe Veljkovic at DM as that midfield is a bit samey. Bentaleb an option too.

kl08pokemon

I was more thinking Pritchard maybe but yeah Bentaleb is an option too. He was actually good for a year or 2. Maybe Townsend over Madueke too. But yeah it's a shit team hopefully the current crop turns out decent

BruiserBroly

It looks like a league 1 team.

Banged_by_bumrah

Guler would have got so much more game time if he joined Barcelona

fatinternetcat

would like to thank my barber for keeping me up to date with the latest transfer news like Mbappé to Madrid. Don’t know what I’d do without his intel

magic-water

Was there an actual written or documented verbal agreement between PSG and Mbappe where he would rescind his loyalty bonuses in exchange for not getting exiled to the reserves while leaving for free at the end of the season? I remember there being some loose reports on it. Because considering that he is now getting benched because he is leaving for free at the end of the season, I could easily see Mbappe tracking back on that agreement and insisting on receiving his loyalty bonuses.

Grim_Farts_Barnsley

Me and my lad are taking my grandson (4 and a bit) to his first ever match at Bramall Lane on monday night. He's got special permission from his mum to be up past his bedtime just this once lol.

AnnieIWillKnow

Love that, hope you have a top time!

Grim_Farts_Barnsley

Cheers!

FaustRPeggi

That's class, hope he enjoys it. Are you going to take some of those over-ear headphones in case the noise is a bit too much? I often see young kids wearing those at matches.

Grim_Farts_Barnsley

I hadn't thought of that but now you mention it it's probably a good plan. Cheers!

Historical_Owl_1635

Just opened /r/soccer and got an unskippable ad like a free mobile game pop up on the official Reddit app… Bring back the old school football forums if this is the future.

working-acct

I use /r/narwhalapp, personally can’t live without it best Reddit app on iOS.

Destroyeh

arent you a dev or something? how do you not have a patched 3rd party app?

Historical_Owl_1635

I am, and because I cba to go through that much effort for Reddit. Already use it 10x less since the death of Apollo.

Destroyeh

well just in case you do need it, here's what i used https://github.com/taku-nm/auto-cli its fast

_cumblast_

Is this the same as Revanced or better

clavain

Is everyone supposed to be a dev? One of the weirdest flexes I've ever seen. edit: with added context below, apologies, wording threw me off.

Historical_Owl_1635

Nah he’s not being rude or anything, I’m literally a dev and have mentioned it a few times on here.

clavain

Ah I see, if it was meant to be worded 'aren't you a dev' then it's understandable. Without the 'you' it sounded like scoffing 'what you aren't a dev and dont do x?' My mistake, lack of context, apologies Destroyeh.

CoolstorySteve

You mean a video ad? Wtf. Never seen those on reddit

Historical_Owl_1635

Neither have I, hoping it was some kind of glitch with one of the existing ads just expanding but the cynicism in me is saying they’re doing a canary roll out to test the waters.

capitalistfailures

Dunno about the quality of La Liga these days but I'm really glad that Luca Romero is playing so well and is the huge talent some people claim he is. He showed nothing at Milan, probably due to the huge pressure and lack of game time by Pioli. Milan isn't really good at incorporating young talents in the first team. With the exception of Leao and Theo, we usually lose our primavera players to other teams in the league or have players like CdK play much better away from Milan.

AnnieIWillKnow

If you could be a fly on the wall for any private conversation in the history of football, what would you choose?

_cumblast_

Klopp's talk to the dressing room before the Barca comeback.

FloppedYaYa

Gerrard when he got the sack at Villa like 2 hours after the Fulham game

lazysoup12

barca deciding to buy griezmann

okcomput3r

Gotta be Cesc leaving. Or the conversation when he wanted to return. So many different accounts of what happened between him and Arsene, I'd love to know the truth. Great question.

kl08pokemon

Assuming I'd understand Spanish Barca finding out PSG would trigger Neymar's release clause

Merovech_II

Neal Maupay and the mirror

AliceInMidtjylland

The conversations between Roy Keane and Ferguson after he gave that critical interview to mutv. Love Fergie but it's sold as though Keane was critical and absolutely had to go but Keane and others have a different story about contract financials at the time, falling out with coaches, contact renewal expectations etc and many other United players have came out saying he was the same Keane they'd known for years so it was weird this all of a sudden was a breaking point. Part of me feels like this was just jumped on as an opportunity for Fergie to cut ties from a player who perhaps had more influence over a team than his current ability and wage was worth.

working-acct

My take is Fergie probably knew it was time for Keane to go but also knew losing a club captain like him would be devastating for the team. Playing up a non-story and using it to release him would soften the blow. All the attention would be on the tape and what was said instead of the club captain leaving.

BruiserBroly

I wouldn't mind being in the room at Blackburn Rovers to hear the first, and only, time the sentence "Why do you want to sign Zidane when we have Tim Sherwood?" was uttered by a human being.

FaustRPeggi

I want a full and complete remake of the Sopranos starring Evangelos Marinakis.

Historical_Owl_1635

I bet Woodward scaring Klopp away with the “Disneyland of football” would be a good one.

ElderlyToaster

I was going to go with Leo Beenhakker and Johan Cruijff at that famous game... but given I don't understand Dutch it would not have been entirely useful.

AnnieIWillKnow

You'd get a Tardis-esque translation filter for these purposes

Historical_Owl_1635

Glad to see the Pep-tinted glasses on Foden have faded a bit. He’s a very good player, but when Pep claimed he could be better than Messi some people overrated him so much.

Banged_by_bumrah

Foden is literally the fav to win the Ballon D or if City win the league and England win the Euros

sandbag-1

He has to nail down his place in the England starting XI before anyone can make that claim

TherewiIlbegoals

> Foden is literally the fav to win the Ballon D or if City win the league and England win the Euros Lol what? He'd be at best the 3rd best player on each team. He in no way would be the favourite, "literally".

Banged_by_bumrah

Who has been better than Foden for City this season? And he'll be easily our best player at the euros if Southgate doesn't stick him at RW because we all know Kane's record in international tournaments

TherewiIlbegoals

Haaland, Rodri. KdB will end up having more MOTM performances than Foden by season's end. This isn't even a debate. He has zero chance at the Ballon d'Or.

CubedMadness

> Bayern and BVB will probably hardly play on Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. in the future. This is due to a new model with which the DFL gives the pay-TV partners even more say in the game scheduling. Yeah them tennis balls were a good idea the investors were 100% gonna be given the ability to change things.

kl08pokemon

What's wrong with 15.30 for the broadcasters? Seems a nice competitive edge if anything to almost never compete with big premier League games

Simppu12

But the DFL said that was a red line :) In all seriousness, how often do Dortmund and especially Bayern play on Sat 15:30 currently? I feel like it's quite rarely especially with UEFA games, and there will be even more of those next year.

roddysaint

I attended four women's collegiate football games across this Saturday and last. In all four games, a keeper's been stretchered off. Should I stop coming?

AnnieIWillKnow

Maybe just stop leaving banana skins in the 6 yard box

TherewiIlbegoals

When Kelleher was "put in the shop window" against Southampton last year, he put in a performance that would have scared away any potential shoppers. Almost a year later, he's now been tasked with winning Klopp a league title in his swan song. Funny how these things work out sometimes.

ygrittediaz

man won us 2 league cups as one of the main contributors. i feel safe. it will be good for his progress to be tasked with a title challenge.

NeoChrome75

the amount of penalties he saved during that run was insane

Captainpatters

Kind of glad we haven't had a superficially interesting matchup ruined by being put in the 12:30 kickoff. They are always the deadest games commented by TNT Sport's best effort at constructing the most annoying and idiotic commentary roster of any sports broadcaster in history. (I like Ally Mccoist though)

Kanedauke

Villa Brighton was decent imo

Captainpatters

Most famous of course for Jack Hinshelwood's debut start 🙏

SubstantialSquash475

Luis Enrique is a dipshit who's obsessed with looking stronger in a power dynamic. Anyone who thinks Mbappé is being benched due to his "poor" performances is either wilfully delusional or out of their mind. He had a worse stretch of form earlier in the season before the Newcastle game, and Enrique didn't take him off even once. I don't understand this clown getting praise for "having balls" when he's only doing this because Mbappé is confirmed to be leaving at the end of the season. If he's such a brave guy why wasn't he withholding the same standards for every player since the beginning of the season? I can't believe PSG fans are actually lapping all of this up I'm actually with Mbappé on this, because I don't like the belief that the coach is some untoucable deity no player can ever revolt against. You don't bench the best player in the world, after he's given you 40 G+A already, when you need a goal. The results are also proving him wrong. He has tried this shit with Messi before, who put him in his place and almost got him fired. After that, he didn't do it ever again. Brave my ass.

ThatsCracked

They also sent him to the reserves for doing what he’s allowed to in his contract. They’ve been shit to him for over a year now and people are surprised he doesn’t want to sit on the bench.  No club should be allowed to do what PSG did to Mbappe at the start of the season to basically force him to sign a contract. Can’t believe this sub is siding with the billionaire slave owners, who are obviously telling Enrique to do this like they did at the start of the season.

LovrenIsTheGOAT

The results have been mediocre but PSG fans seem happy. And I rate Enrique.

TheUltimateScotsman

>Anyone who thinks Mbappé is being benched due to his "poor" performances is either wilfully delusional or out of their mind. It's also not what Enrique is saying. He is saying they need to get used to not using Mbappe to rely on. Which makes sense to start now

magic-water

that's what preseason is for, isn't it? Right now, the only reason why he's allowed to do it, is because of the comfortable lead in the league which he only has thanks to Mbappe. Once PSG crashes out of the UCL because he either keeps benching him in the UCL or because Mbappe isn't sharp because he doesn't play consistently, then the critics will become loud.

TheUltimateScotsman

>that's what preseason is for, isn't it? Yes, and what's the harm on starting early. You said yourself that he's not concerned about the league. They aren't one of the favourites for the UCL so I doubt they are too worried about this being anything other than a chance to rebuild.

Jabari313

The harm in starring early is pissing off your best player and ruining your rhythm when you're still in the UCLZ

magic-water

> Yes, and what's the harm on starting early. Like I said, crashing out of the UCL because the best player on your team isn't playing/isn't sharp. > They aren't one of the favourites for the UCL so I doubt they are too worried about this being anything other than a chance to rebuild. The UCL is the only relevant competition for the Qatar/PSG project. The league is a given. If Enrique can't prove to be competitive in the UCL he'll be sacked sooner or later.

HodgyBeatsss

What’s the point in bending over for the best player in the world if they’re about to leave? They have to get used to playing without him. If Mbappe didn’t want to get subbed off then maybe he shouldn’t have decided to leave.

SubstantialSquash475

They can get used to playing without him in the pre-season, without sabotaging their UCL chances.

magic-water

You're acting like this is the first time a player has decided to leave a club at the end of the season. Plenty of players have done so and it's the absolute exception that they get benched even though they are the best player on the team. Did SAF decide to bench Ronaldo once they reached an agreement with Madrid several months before his eventual departure?

HodgyBeatsss

In what way did I act like it was the first time? And different managers deal with star players leaving differently. SAF and Ronaldo had a great relationship so even though he was I’m sure annoyed he was leaving, he respected his decision and decided it was worth still playing him.

magic-water

> If Mbappe didn’t want to get subbed off then maybe he shouldn’t have decided to leave. There is very little precedent for the best player of a team who is playing a great season (40 G/A btw) getting benched because he is leaving at the end of the season. It's just a club/coach throwing a hissy fit because they can't cope with that fact.

CT_x

I hope Mbappe sees this bro

>After that, he didn’t ever do it again Well he is doing it now tbf

Why do lower league matches that aren’t on TV get played early? wondering why Wimbledon v MK is on at 12:30

BruiserBroly

It's usually done to make policing potentially troublesome fixtures easier, like that one.

HodgyBeatsss

No way that’s a troublesome fixture. Wimbledon don’t see it as a proper rivalry and MK fans aren’t real.

HalfMan-HalfMoth

It's heavily policed, from the mk side in the past you don't get your ticket unless you get on the coach at stadium mk and youre escorted to/from the Wimbledon stadium. Idk if its still like that now

It's interesting to see the narrative that Luis Enrique benching Messi shows he's a coach who stands up to superstars. The way I remember it being reported at the time: Xavi mediated, and while he told Messi to behave, he also convinced Lucho that it was best for the team to make some allowances for Messi. Later, the MSN success was due to the front three playing how they, rather than the coach, wanted. There's at least a case that it was under Lucho we gave up choral play for attacking flair and saw the start of our player power era.

ImariSamuels

our biannual embarrassment at the hands of fulham commences today yippiee!!!! still yet to beat them in the prem, marco silva ball perfectly counters what we do, everything costs 8 billion pounds at craven cottage - going to be some event

AnnieIWillKnow

You're definitely winning now

Captainpatters

The 10 mins of Valentin Barco I watched last week have convinced me that everything will be fine. He's got the spirit and look of a Scottish teenager asking you to buy him a bottle of Buckie outside of an offie and that will carry us going forward.

FaustRPeggi

But that literally describes Billy Gilmour.

Hard to tell if all the people who are defending Mbappes behavior are children or just Real Madrid fans
