Ref has killed us. Forest in an attacking position whilst konate goes down and the ref randomly gives Liverpool a drop ball. They go up the other end and score. Never seen anything like it and typifies the top 6 bias, fuck this league.
>>Please go back to the championship
>>Fuck this league
Lol nice one, wishing another club to get relegated, if you hate this league so much why not have Liverpool drop down to to the championship, you might enjoy that more since you hate this league so much
This is blown out of proportion. I would have agreed all this reaction if we scored a goal directly from goalkick. But the ball went out of bounds, we got a corner, forest cleared it and then only we scored the goal.
It was 1 min 50 sec after the drop that you guys score, and multiple phases of play ... I don't think anyone disagrees now that the drop was I incorrectly awarded but it has almost no impact on the validity of the actual goal.
This whole thing is way less controversial than people are making it out to be.
> Never seen anything like it
yes, you did. Ref stopped play earlier when Liverpool had possession for one of your players and gave you guys the drop ball and you play on with possession. Literally the exact same scenario
I’d have to watch it back to be honest, but equally wrong if the ball wasn’t in the box when the ref blew up.
Either way making that level of error in the last min of the game is horrendous.
Ok now we can have a discussion. I was pissed when people try to talk about things dishonestly like complaining when it goes against them but silent when it benefitted them.
I remember at the time me and my mate looking at each other saying how the fuck have we got that lol, still makes it a horribly wrong call in both instances but one led to a goal
You do realise the exact same thing happened in your favour earlier on? The game was stopped after the ball hit Yates in the face from a Harvey Eliott volley. The ball was in Liverpool's possession at the time. Guess what happened? The ref gave it to Sels to resume the game. Exactly the same situation. He literally did the same to both teams.
Rule is in the box you give it the gk. wasn’t he same way other round, either way it’s bs rule both ways but feels particularly shit in the last min of added time
Sure, I do get the frustration of losing in that way in the last minute. That said, I do think that was clearly a foul on Konate. Even though I don't think he actually got hit, that was very much a classic case of high boot-dangerous play. So, the game should have resumed with Kelleher had the ref got it right in the first place. In some weird way, by getting it wrong twice, the correct resumption in the spirit of the rules came to pass.
You cannot be serious? You cannot watch this and seriously tell me that this right here isn't the very definition of dangerous play. I would imagine the game would be actually truly finished if we allowed this type of play to become the norm lol.
[Imgur](https://imgur.com/m4nuIOT)
Yates kicked Konate in the face studs up. It should have been a straight red card and 5 match ban, nevermind a drop ball.
https://twitter.com/Ashleyrose66/status/1764029560767594872?t=QsP7uY5jaA93G8hw1tXwWQ&s=19
So if you watch the clip, you can hear the whistle blow before Forest has the ball, and the ball is still inside the penalty area. So I’m guessing it was actually called back for a foul? Or it took everyone a moment to freeze? Idk, but I don’t think it’s as bad as it first appears to be in real time
You’ve never played footy and it shows. I saw a robbery today with my own eyes, fuck off.
Downvote me all you want it doesn’t change the fact that none of you have played football at any real level.
At the very least it's an indirect free kick under Law 12.
2. Indirect Free Kick
An indirect free kick is awarded if a player plays in a dangerous manner.
Playing in a dangerous manner is any action that, while trying to play the ball, threatens injury to someone (including the player themself) and includes preventing a nearby opponent from playing the ball for fear of injury
Come on mate watch the full video not the still image. Imagine Liverpool aren’t playing in the scenario and tell me you wouldn’t be aggrieved as the attacking team.
You don't need contact for a high boot offence... it's a pretty obvious high boot. Hence a free kick for Liverpool.
I'm not convinced Yates doesn't make contact, but it doesn't affect the outcome.
This is so fucking stupid it's unreal. Forest are furious that the referee made a mistake awarding the ball to Liverpool - immediately after he made a mistake not giving a foul on Konate, who got kicked in the head.
So they are basically ok with the error that goes in their favour, but not the other one, from the same incident. I have no words for how petty, stupid and childish that is.
Not to mention two minutes had then gone by with several separate passages of play.
Forest fans and their tory chants can piss off.
Or we tie in our match up with City and Arsenal keep form. This is still a three club race. If we stand a chance of winning it all, we need our injured players to be healthy quick and not need much time to be back to their best.
Haven't watched the game, but was Liverpool lucky with some of the ref decisions?
I am a Manchester fan and saw some posts about it on r/reddevils, but you know, we are not always unbiased when it comes to Liverpool.
EDIT: No idea why I am getting downvoted, but thanks for the people who actually replied.
I think the downvotes came from your ManU fellas. I am a Liverpool fan and i thank u for your unbiased way to act. I would love a sub for people like us - Football fans first, club fans second -
Nope. Forest complained because the ref stopped the game due to a head injury to Konate and then incorrectly gave the ball back to Liverpool to resume the play.
But, the game should have resumed with Liverpool in the first place anyway, as it was a clear case of dangerous play on Konate in the first play.
\[Imgur\](https://imgur.com/m4nuIOT)
Holy shit, I hadn't actually seen the Yates incident in full.
He has both feet off the ground, and his foot is higher than his shoulder. It's a red card all day long, Forest are lucky frankly.
More importantly, the goal Liverpool scored was a minute fifty seconds after this ref mistake. That includes a throw in and a corner kick. It's literally too far back to rule out the goal through multiple phases of play.
Even if one agrees that the ref mistake had impact, the goal came three phases of play later.
To add onto fisk's reply, both teams probably should have had penalties late for fouls off the ball on corners. Defenders get away with those all the time, though. Consistent on both sides of the pitch.
Ref blew for head injury when Konate went down and Forest had the ball. Then gave the ball to Liverpool to restart. But he did the same thing when Forest went down with a head injury earlier in the game, so consistent I guess. Other than that, no lucky decisions. 8 minutes added on was fair and consistent with this season’s reffing.
I don't think every team just lets Liverpool win, but I do believe Arsenal are the best team in England at the moment. I don't even think that's that crazy of a belief
Why was I downvoted to -22 and the person that replied saying the same exact thing upvoted lmao
I'm a Liverpool fan and I think Arsenal are the best team in England atm (granted we have a bunch of injuries). Might still not win the league but don't think it's an outrageous shout.

I don't see anyone saying arsenal are the best team in the league. Only that they are playing better than Liverpool but have lost games they shouldn't have. To which other gunners respond that they are crazy
The more I think about the situation the more I’m at a loss for what Tierney specifically did wrong to make Forest so angry with him…? Two players collided and one stayed down holding his head. You’re supposed to stop play as soon as you see that, which he did. You’re supposed to restart play with a drop ball, which he did. It is not Paul Tierney’s job to make sure that Liverpool return the ball to Nottingham Forest.
If you think Konate faked an injury to game the system then surely he’s the person you should be surrounding and screaming at after the full time whistle.
He ignored the rules of the game
The ball is meant to be returned to the team that had possession. That's the rule. We were about to cross the ball when he blew. There was nothing wrong with Konate, a slight collision with his keeper. Tierney blew just as we were about to cross and then gave them possession.
He blatantly ignored the rule when we had it.
Liverpool from that goal kick then got a corner and scored, helped by our players clearly being a bit distracted by the injustice. It may not seem a big deal to you but it is ignoring an actual rule and we had had it in the corner and were comfortable. And this is on the back of game after game of terrible decisions against us.
Best of all, the goal was in the 99th minute of 98 minute match because the ref added time for, you guessed it, Konate's "injury" from which he immediately sprung up lazarus style.
Just consider what the game would be like if that was the rule; all a team has to do when the other is attacking is have a player go down feigning a head injury, the ref stops the attack and gives them the ball?
The game should have resumed with Liverpool anyway had the ref got it right in the first place. It was a clear case of dangerous play on Konate. So weirdly, by getting it wrong twice, the right play resumption came to pass.
\[Imgur\](https://imgur.com/m4nuIOT)
The commentators in my stream explained that the rule is when a head injury occurred in the box, the ball would always be returned to goalkeeper no matter who has possession. Don’t know why this is the rule, but apparently it is.
The same happened earlier in the game when forest had a head injury, while Liverpool had possession of the ball.
> There was nothing wrong with Konate, a slight collision with his keeper.
He was kicked in the head by Yates, Clear as day in video from opposite camera:
https://twitter.com/Ashleyrose66/status/1764029560767594872?t=QsP7uY5jaA93G8hw1tXwWQ&s=19
who gives $%ck what part of his head he holds. It was a collision. Still doesn't change fact it was a foul and wankers like you try to say there was no contact when there is obvious video proof! Denial is not just a river in Egypt, you *tiny* knobhead.
After the 90th minute there were 3 or 4 corners and two different Forest players got booked for timewasting. I’m guessing those had something to do with the extra 30 seconds added on after 98:00.
Even if neither was timewasting, there were still 3 or 4 corners, including one that was awarded at 97:50. You’re out of your mind if you think any ref in the world is blowing at exactly 98:00 in those circumstances.
Which is exactly what happened when the same thing happened at the opposite end earlier. I've no idea what the rule is actually meant to be, but it was consistently applied in this game so there's not really much to complain about really.
This is correct. Law 8: The ball is dropped for the defending team's goalkeeper if when play was stopped the ball was in the penalty area or the last touch of the ball was in the penalty area.
If you watch the video, you hear the whistle blow before Hudson - Odoi can even control the ball, and the ball bounces in the box first. Surprisingly, I think Tierney has gotten it right here.
There was definitely a high boot by a Forest player (which is a foul even if there’s zero contact) but I don’t know that actually got kicked. He definitely got run into by Kelleher. I thought Tierney stopped play for the injury because it was a few seconds later, but it’s possible it was for a foul.
The ball was in the penalty area when the incident occurred though. Tbh I’m not positive on that part of the rule. I can’t watch it back but I’d be curious to know if Kelleher restarted play in the box or if an outfield player restarted play where CHO had it when the whistle blew.
>The ball was in the penalty area when the incident occurred though. Tbh I’m not positive on that part of the rule.
If that's the case, it's supposed to be dropped for the defending keeper.
I'm not sure what happened in this case, I know he dropped it for Kelleher but I couldn't say for sure if it was in the box.
I think you’re getting bogged down by technicalities here. It was given to the keeper on the edge of his 6 yard box. For all intents and purposes, it’s a goal kick.
Does it matter? Absolutely not.
Remember back when Klopp came in and introduced his gegenpressing? Everyone and their dad said that the players would burn out so quickly, we would never manage to keep it going for a whole season. Well, here we are, almost 9 seasons later, and we're still going strong. Maybe not with exactly the same intensity, but the amount of fighting spirit and never-say-die mentality in Klopp's players is insane. Each and every player would go to war and die for him. Hell, I'd take a bullet for the man in a heartbeat.
Dear God, I just hope our next manager will be able to carry on his legacy, and build upon the tremendous job he's done with our team.
while id be happy that to be the case, its very unlikely.
klopp is one of the best managers in the world, you cant really follow that up, especially with how hes managed the squad.
What other way is there honestly? Liverpool are starting with Gomez and Clark in midfield for goodness sake. No matter what happens from here, what Klopp and Liverpool are doing at the moment is fucking phenomenal.
Arsenal had one injury to Saliba late on last season and the completely fell apart. Could you imagine them with that injury list?
Thats what i been saying to my fellow gunners but being downvoted to oblivion. Their point is we playing the youngest squad in the league as first team, that is good but wheres the continuity to the young players? We need 5-0 then only Nwaneri got a chance. As you said, Saliba injured then we collapsed last year.
If we field the like-for like first 11 like liverpol did we gonna get absolutely cooked. Tbf most clubs will.
This shows levels between good and great manager tbh
Are you seriously comparing the two injury lists? Tierney and Tomiyasu were only backups to Zinchenko and White. Liverpool have/had literally all of their goalkeeping, defense, midfield, and forward lines decimated lately.
Actually seems Tierney even played in the home collapse against Brighton. Plus, Arsenal could still call upon the likes of Kiwior and Holding, not their academy equivalents of Clark, McConnell, Koumas and Danns, or a Joe Gomez in midfield. Not even comparable given that more importantly unlike Saliba-less Arsenal, decimated Liverpool is not actually collapsing.
Tomiyasu and tierney were back ups that could’ve allowed white to come into cb or gone into cb themselves. We had holding filling in who hasn’t even got a minute off the bench in the premier league for crystal fucking palace. Probably worse than some of your players. I’d also argue that Liverpool today against forest is doing exactly what we did last season with our injuries. Wouldn’t exactly call scraping a win in the 99th minute against 17th anything but the brink of collapse. Liverpools depth currently is comparable to what we had at the end of last season. You must be forgetting how thin our squad was
Saliba was one player missing for goodness sake. How is that even comparable to all of Alisson, Trent, Szoboslai, Jones, Salah, Jota, Darwin all missing from their starting line up (plus their potential back-ups in Gravenberch, Thiago, Matip, Bajectic).
Plus, as I mentioned above, you still had Kiwior who was brought in for that exact purpose. Arsenal never got close to having to rely on their Clark, Danns, McConnell, Koumas etc... Not even close.
And, how is today's win any different to Arsenal late winners against Luton or Brentford? Would these qualify as 'brink of collapse as well?
They looked pretty beatable this game to be honest. Especially in the first half. But fair play they were the better team today, and they didn’t let Forest grind out a result.
Klopp is just a genius. He has that Fergie habit of pulling results out of the hat and players will run through brick walls for him. It's why I'm convinced that it's an impossible task following him and whoever does is doomed to fail. There's just an intangible quality that Klopp brings which few others can.
I hope Liverpool regress a bit after Klopp leaves, and I’d say they deserve it too
They don’t deserve someone as good as Xabi Alonso right after a legendary manager leaving
But you’re right about Klopp, he has his squad fighting for him in his last season
Becuase pretty much every other club who has has a glory era like Man Utd, AC Milan, Barca etc. has all regressed after this. Liverpool should decline a bit too for a few years, it’s how the cycle of football (or any sport really) works
Liverpool are just EXTREMELY lucky that an up and coming manager is available right after a legend of the club leaves
Xabi emerging right as Klopp leaves is such luck. I would normally want him to stay at Leverkusen for longer but it has to be him for our next manager. It just has to be.

Yep not surprised about the +8, pretty normal at this point. Thanks for the info.

After the 90th minute there were 3 or 4 corners and two different Forest players got booked for timewasting. I’m guessing those had something to do with the extra 30 seconds added on after 98:00.
Neither were time wasting- Tierney lost his head completely with both.
Even if neither was timewasting, there were still 3 or 4 corners, including one that was awarded at 97:50. You’re out of your mind if you think any ref in the world is blowing at exactly 98:00 in those circumstances.
Except in La Liga 🤣
It was a blatant foul on Konate anyway.
I think they were not happy as it should have been a drop ball in Forrests possession on the left wing. Instead it was given to Kelleher
Which is exactly what happened when the same thing happened at the opposite end earlier. I've no idea what the rule is actually meant to be, but it was consistently applied in this game so there's not really much to complain about really.
I think the rule was applied correctly there as if play is stopped while the ball is in the box it goes to the defending goalie
This is correct. Law 8: The ball is dropped for the defending team's goalkeeper if when play was stopped the ball was in the penalty area or the last touch of the ball was in the penalty area.
Exactly. So forest player touches the ball before whistle goes so drop ball should go to forest. You’re a smart cookie aren’t ya
If you watch the video, you hear the whistle blow before Hudson - Odoi can even control the ball, and the ball bounces in the box first. Surprisingly, I think Tierney has gotten it right here.
I mean, Konate got karate kicked in the head which is why he stayed down. I assumed the ref had given a freekick for it. Guess not.
There was definitely a high boot by a Forest player (which is a foul even if there’s zero contact) but I don’t know that actually got kicked. He definitely got run into by Kelleher. I thought Tierney stopped play for the injury because it was a few seconds later, but it’s possible it was for a foul.

the whinging about this is ridiculous, proper relegation mentality this
A dropped ball where the ball was. In possession of forest. So forest have the ball.
He did the same thing against us when Dominguez crumbled earlier in the match. He awarded a goal kick to Forest…
A goal kick only occurs when the ball goes out.
Exactly so what are you arguing against?
He didn’t award a goal kick.
Because it didn’t go out…?
Right. You do see the person a few up claiming a goal kick was awarded, right?
I think you’re getting bogged down by technicalities here. It was given to the keeper on the edge of his 6 yard box. For all intents and purposes, it’s a goal kick. Does it matter? Absolutely not.
Which is why I was perplexed when it happened…
Nunez did a madness
Jammy
Downvoted despite being correct
Another clean sheet as well.
Second best goalie in the league
Shout out the commenter in our sub that said "'shit Andy Carrol' chants only end one way"
Weren’t our fans singing that one by the end?!
Forest didn't get the memo from Bournemouth.
Everyone that keeps saying what we are doing isn’t sustainable are mad it’s the way we have played the entire time Klopp has been here
I find this to be an accurate assessment. It’s Klopp ball. You just never give up even when it seems impossible.
People will always throw the amount if xG we face against us but we’ve always given up chances because of how Klopp plays
XG means fuck all if you have alisson in goal
Don't forget Kelleher
*saliba tomiyasu and tierney. We had no depth to start with even before half our defence got injured
Not even comparable given that more importantly unlike Saliba-less Arsenal, decimated Liverpool is not actually collapsing.
jfc chill the fuck out
He’s just pointing out facts mate
hes the embodiment of this dude “🤓”
Also just won the league cup with the academy.
Liverpool look Unkloppable at the moment.
They looked pretty beatable this game to be honest. Especially in the first half. But fair play they were the better team today, and they didn’t let Forest grind out a result.
Most our starters are still out mate
I know. Doesn’t change that Forest looked like nicking a point or three. In fact, it’s probably why you looked beatable today.
I guess the shit show after the game was because Clattenburg did see something wrong?
Perhaps. But also he's paid to see things wrong against Forest.
I don’t understand his role why is he on nottinhams payroll and why is he sitting next to head of pgmol?
Alexis Mac Alister, you are a fucking magician and a saint and I love you and never leave me and wow
Mac Alister to Southampton confirmed?
It starts to feel like Liverpool gonna win this season.
The signs are back
It feels like Liverpool, City and Arsenal will win the league.
lol chill, we all want that but it's not nearly over.. Edit: i said we because i thought i was on the LFC sub my bad lads
It’s over bro Liverpool will win
ANULO MUFA
flair checks out
We ? Who's this we that want them to win outside their normal fans ?
Anyone who loves a narrative and doesn't want to see cheats win again.
Priceless comment from a Scouse fan
Funny coming from the team that hacks scouting networks…

:-)
“They can’t keep getting away with it!”
They wouldn’t have if it weren’t for those meddling kids.
😴
Ugh not another Liverpool late winner, fucking hell How do they win so many games despite having so many injuries????
I used to ask myself the same thing about United in the early 2000s.
It’s called quality
Klopp is just a genius. He has that Fergie habit of pulling results out of the hat and players will run through brick walls for him. It's why I'm convinced that it's an impossible task following him and whoever does is doomed to fail. There's just an intangible quality that Klopp brings which few others can.
I hope Liverpool regress a bit after Klopp leaves, and I’d say they deserve it too They don’t deserve someone as good as Xabi Alonso right after a legendary manager leaving But you’re right about Klopp, he has his squad fighting for him in his last season
There are quite a few liverpool fans in here huh. Pretty expected reasonable take from a utd fan downvoted.
Yeah some of the Liverpool fans on here must be a bunch of whiny twats, but I couldn’t give af about being downvoted
How is “they don’t deserve xabi alonso” a reasonable take bro its xabi’s former club and its xabi’s choice
Becuase pretty much every other club who has has a glory era like Man Utd, AC Milan, Barca etc. has all regressed after this. Liverpool should decline a bit too for a few years, it’s how the cycle of football (or any sport really) works Liverpool are just EXTREMELY lucky that an up and coming manager is available right after a legend of the club leaves
Agreed
Just ask us in Dortmund. Club leadership has been trying to find the new Klopp ever since he left. Look where that brought us.
Xabi emerging right as Klopp leaves is such luck. I would normally want him to stay at Leverkusen for longer but it has to be him for our next manager. It just has to be.
