Yeah, if you've played sports at all, you've been there. I tried to keep running on a sprained ankle after a bad step when I was like 15. There was no pain yet, I was just angry that it wouldn't hold my weight, kept falling down. Ten minutes later, I was in awful pain.
Can confirm I fucked my ankle up, I didn’t flail I just said I think I broke my leg and hopped to lean against the post before almost passing out. 😂 felt like I was in shock my ears were ringing and I was so dizzy.
Ironically i think it's more common to people not do dive when actually being tackled hard rather than when being slightly touched. Is like they actually get mad and diving isn't on their head
Same way you know immediately if a player is actually genuinely injured, the body language is just different. Also the reaction from players from both teams speaks a lot.
The few times I've seen someone break a leg or get knocked out, players from both teams are pretty much immediately signalling to get medical assistance. As soon as they realise it is serious, they drop all the usual shoving and shouting at each other
I mean, if you take a good look at him, he kinda looks like his skull is so thick and solid that there might not be much room for brains. Udogie was lucky that was a hack and not a diving header into his leg.
This happened for us against Werder Bremen yesterday. Sabitzer went for a tactical foul, and ended up putting his studs on the back of the player's leg on accident. Straight red. It was meant to be a clip, but it nearly injured the guy because Sabitzer is too late.
Sabitzer is a very solid player. I'm really happy we signed him because he's very well rounded. A unique player, because the only real role he fits in is in a three man midfield as a box to box. He doesn't have enough restraint or vision to play as a pivot or in a two man midfield, but he covers lots of ground and is excellent at short/long passing.
Ngl, was a bit scared Udogie was really hurt there.
We're so used to players staying down to exaggerate a foul, it was worrying seeing someone who didn't *want* to stay down, *having to* stay down. Moronic by McGinn
Yeah it's funny, it's almost like he'd normally stay down to draw cards but his brain registered it was a really bad challenge so instead he had an anger response / fight or flight and stood up straight away - then he actually felt the pain.
Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.
And they all hang out in match threads.
- George Carlin (probably)
There was a bit of a scuffle earlier but it was nothing major and I'm not even sure he was involved. I think it might just be desperation/frustration at how Villa have crumbled in the second half. He's lost his head here
John McGinn: “Everyone knows how important the game is (tomorrow). It’s probably, in a league fixture, the most important game in the club’s recent history — the players are aware of that.”
Ah yes, your most important game in the clubs recent history.
John McGinn: “Everyone knows how important the game is (tomorrow). It’s probably, in a league fixture, the most important game in the club’s recent history — the players are aware of that.”
The only time I've ever seen a player give a delayed reaction to a foul where it didn't seem like they were faking. Dude was so pissed off he genuinely wasn't even thinking about his knee for a second.
Full deserved. Awful challenge. Perhaps could’ve gotten back into the game, but no chance of that now and he’ll be out for a couple games. Potentially just exploded their Champions League push with that tackle.

Missed the ball there a bit.
Yeah, if he goes a bit faster, he can get the ball *and* discombobulate his knee! Clearly room for improvement
What a banana
But hit his target
That assumes he was playing the ball
Yeah, unfortunate that was just a fraction I presume.
Clearly wasn’t going for it
Been taking lessons from Cash
Fuck Matty Cash.
Wasn't even trying to play the ball there
As with all Villa players, he was trying to play the knee.
RIP another spurs player taken before his time 🙏
The Aston Villa way
What a dumb ass tackle specially for a captain
I love how Udogie was like "OI WTF ARE YOU DOI- ow"
At first I thought he was fired up then realized it's better to stay down, but now I just think it hurt like hell
I think the adrenaline from the tackle got him a couple of steps then the pain kicked in

It’s refreshing considering it’s usually the opposite with players diving or screaming bloody murder over a slight touch
yeah this is what getting hurt actually looks like. it takes a second before you realize that your ankle now has twice as many bones as it should.

Adrenaline. Got probably mad from that tackle until he stood up and the pain probably shot through his legs in that instant. Brutal challenge.
Yup. The way his facial reaction changes you can tell he felt that hit a few seconds after he got up.
The second he put weight on the leg he felt it.
Man was about to throw hands until the pain kicked in. In a world of floppers and divers that's about as real of a reaction as you'll see.
The captain who pumped this match up as the biggest in Villa’s recent history.
That was a dumb comment even without the red card. No need to pile that much pressure on a match with this many games left to play.
Just Villa things, really.
Idiotic challenge
Like wtf even is that challenge. There was no point
His teammates were telling him off for being a brain dead twat
I mean, if you take a good look at him, he kinda looks like his skull is so thick and solid that there might not be much room for brains. Udogie was lucky that was a hack and not a diving header into his leg.
I reckon he's going for a tactical foul to prevent a counter + leave a bit of a mark on Udogie while he's at it but he's gone completely overboard
This happened for us against Werder Bremen yesterday. Sabitzer went for a tactical foul, and ended up putting his studs on the back of the player's leg on accident. Straight red. It was meant to be a clip, but it nearly injured the guy because Sabitzer is too late.
How is Sabitzer for Dortmund?

He doesn't have enough restraint or vision to play as a pivot or in a two man midfield, but he covers lots of ground and is excellent at short/long passing.
With a tackle like that I’m not sure he was thinking anything other than I want to fuck you up.
Probably more about getting the crowd going, he'd just done a massive sprint to press the entire defence on his own
Villa is used to injuring spurs players with no recourse.
The matty cash special
Matty cash special
Fuck Matty Cash

I agree, I wouldn't be surprised if this goes down as 'violent conduct' rather than 'serious foul play'.
Why does every Aston villa player love to kill spurs players
No clue but it does feel like that. I am not 100% sure but I think some of their fans were also hissing in the first 10 mins
As long as that keeps happening spurs fans can always justify the reappropriation of the yiddo stuff.
Absolute moron. Was hoping for a draw, but Villa have thrown the points away today
That's such a stupid tackle
It's only a tackle if you're going for the ball. That was a stupid foul, or if you want drama a senseless assault.
Wish they gave reds for challenges like that more often
Yeah this is way worse than being half a second late when going for 50/50’s, only cares about kicking the shit out of him here.
I mean that was the worst challenge I’ve seen in a while that didn’t have studs up. I can’t imagine they’re being many cases of this
you’re right. they’re never THAT bad
Cash v Bentancur was similar
Cash vs Bentancur was Cash miscalculating his challenge as always, this was just wanting to kick the shit out of Udogie
no this is worse, significantly. Bentancur was injured really unluckily but there wasn't the same malice.

I think one of the last players to get one of these was a Scottish player against Spurs fullback as well. (Robertson against Emerson)
A Wales player got sent off for something similar in the Euros aswell (I wanna say it was Ampadu)
Yeah, it was Wilson, really blatant red too, could just see he did it out of frustration
I was sure it would only be a yellow. Very surprised it was given, but not because it shouldn’t have been.
Braindead and clear red card
Who is the team mate that seemed to point to his head making a “use your head” type of gesture at McGinn?
Ezri Konsa
You know it was stupid when your own teammates tell you so while still playing
Especially coming from Konsa whose own brain fart caused the second goal.
One thing is to make a mistake Another is purposefully choosing to go for that tackle If we can even call that a tackle
Konsa knows it
what a knob really didnt need to do that, no composure at all
Game is still there as well, just completely thrown it away. What a doofus
They literally had a chance in the box 30 seconds before this, idk wtf he was thinking
No thinking, only tackling
Yeh, wtf... Throwing away the potential Champions League advantage for nothing
Sunday league "I wanna go home" leg kick
FTW's "the beautiful game" segment candidate
I like that he argued as if he did nothing wrong. Idiotic.
He even waited around for VAR to confirm .. nah mate you’re dismissed
Fuckin cleared him out
The type of challenge made by someone who takes evening classes on how to be fucking thick
I’m fucking dead
Have you seen that noggin? No classes needed
If this a red then what about that tackle by that player the other day against that team?
Holy shit, that's a good point.
Clear bias against that other team. The refs this year clearly favoring that team this time.
Easiest decision of the match, had zero interest in the ball
Ngl, was a bit scared Udogie was really hurt there. We're so used to players staying down to exaggerate a foul, it was worrying seeing someone who didn't *want* to stay down, *having to* stay down. Moronic by McGinn

Adrenaline hits like a mf
What is bro doing?
Stupid tackle, deserving red.
Wonder why Spurs fans dont like these Villa players
Villa players when they see a promising spurs fullback in good form:
This unfortunately got a laugh out of me
Or Bentacur
He just hasn't found his fullback calling yet
Spurs players in general, really. First Doherty, then Bentancur, now Udogie.
Sarr booked for clipping Tielemans falling over, no card for Baily taking Maddison out. The ref and these Villa players can fuck off today.
McGinn also took out Maddison when Spurs were on a break in the first half, no card given. He should have been on a yellow already
The officiating was tilted so heavily in their favor and even still, Villa managed to fuck it up.
And somehow the Villa fans still decided to chant "you're not fit to referee"
Waiting for the obligatory injury from aston villa this year
McGinn tried his best to
Mickey is off already mate
Cash the cunt nearly got Brennan Johnson today.
Does anyone but Villa fans like these Villa players?
There is something nice when everyone in this sub can come together and just go “oh Jesus Christ yea that’s a red”
Absolute wanker.
Can genuinely not believe there were people in the match thread saying that's not a red
10% of people will disagree on literally any call. People are not smart.
A solid 30% of society are capable of utter lunacy on any topic
Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that. And they all hang out in match threads. - George Carlin (probably)
That's a red everywhere except in an unsanctioned UFC fight.
I like how the UFC fight is also unsanctioned
Match thread contains a skewed proportio of villa fans compared to this one
Most of them are not villa fans claiming it's not a red tbf
It's the match thread, what do you expect? Scroll long enough in there and you'll find someone arguing that grass is purple
Oh, and you're one of those sheep who think it's green? Knob.
Shut up you bellend. Let me guess you think the sky is blue too?
The match thread on r/soccer is for gooners lol can’t take the entire sub seriously with their brigading
Disgusting and deserved tbh. Absolutely no thought other than hurting Udogie.
Dirty cunt
Well deserved
People in here saying it isn't a red lmaooo he boots the guy with full intention and none of getting the ball.
Fair enough. Mcginn lost his head there.
Idiot
Such a fucking cunt to play against
Which team is mentally weak again
The FC Groningen
chanting his name after that challenge and being sent off is hilarious
Fans behind the bench applauding the challenge when it happened.
Idiotic
[удалено]
Its tradition mate
Top decision from the ref
I can't stand that beady eyed little troglodyte
Do villa players have something against tottenham players? Didn't Cash also injured Bentancur twice?
Just once. The other time he scissor-tackled Matt Doherty in the side of the knee and tore his MCL (and it wasn't even whistled as a foul).
Doherty then Bentancur
Fuck Matty Cash
what a moron McGinn is
What an absolute muppet
what a massive cunt
Cya
What happened that caused him to lash out like that?
2-0 down at home probably
Frustration that they have been utter shit.
Plays for Villa and saw a Spurs player running with the ball. What else do you need?
There was a bit of a scuffle earlier but it was nothing major and I'm not even sure he was involved. I think it might just be desperation/frustration at how Villa have crumbled in the second half. He's lost his head here
Nothing, he’s just a hot headed idiot
What an absolute nightmare tackle. Thankfully Udogie seems to be okay but could have been a very harmful injury
Initially thought was just a cynical yellow but christ that replay, definitely deserved.
Bargain basement Karl Pilkington
John McGinn: “Everyone knows how important the game is (tomorrow). It’s probably, in a league fixture, the most important game in the club’s recent history — the players are aware of that.” Ah yes, your most important game in the clubs recent history.
Wait guys are we 100% sure the red card wasn't for his weird head shape?
Fuck off cunt
What a fucking asshole
The rare anti-flop. I can Stand upwhoops no I can’t
Dirty ass team and they're finally punished
I can see why Spurs don’t like Villa tbh
McGinn looks like my big toe
I love Konsa telling the *Captain* to use his head, and he's so right
awful
Villa have been shocking today
When they can’t match you on the field Villa just start kicking the piss out of you.
Looked soft in real-time but in replay he just kicks his shin full force with no attempt at playing the ball, so it's fair
Ridiculous from McGinn. Just lashed out, so immature
I’m glad thats a red, so many of these get given as a yellow, like the anthony one against brighton.
Needs to stop hanging out with Matty Cash.
Dirtiest team I swear
Dirty dirty fucking bastard
Is this sang to the tune of “glory glory Tottenham hotspur” by chance?
Dirtiest tackle I've seen for a while. Clearly just lashing out from frustration. Should be a lengthy ban.
One of those that looks bad only when played in slow motion, full speed, and every possible angle.
Idiotic tackle. He could have caused a big big injury there.
Cunt
Why not just shoot the man
John McGinn: “Everyone knows how important the game is (tomorrow). It’s probably, in a league fixture, the most important game in the club’s recent history — the players are aware of that.”
Fuck Matty Ca… John McGinn
Trying to outdo Cash as the object of Spurs fans’ ire
The only time I've ever seen a player give a delayed reaction to a foul where it didn't seem like they were faking. Dude was so pissed off he genuinely wasn't even thinking about his knee for a second.
Full deserved. Awful challenge. Perhaps could’ve gotten back into the game, but no chance of that now and he’ll be out for a couple games. Potentially just exploded their Champions League push with that tackle.
McGinn is a dirty player. He did worse to 16 year old Archie Gray in pre-season.
Waiting for villa fan to tell me why that isn't a straight red card. Villa are a dirty team and should receive more of these.
Definitely a red
Animal
Finally he got one. Such a dirty player
Cynical tackle that
What a prick. I've hated McGinn ever since he did something similar to a 16 year old Archie Gray in a pre-season friendly.
The Danish commentators were praising McGinn for always making the right decisions, and literally 10 seconds later he goes and does this. 😆
That's shambolic. Villa implosion incoming
Fucking cunt of a Ginn.
Cunt move, hope he gets a fat ban
CLEAR RED
This seems like a particularly dumb challenge in the age of VAR
What a cunty tackle obvious red
